45 of 45 · most liked first🌎 Overview 🌏 Dog Duty is an isometric real-time tactics game where the player must defeat three bosses to get to the final showdown. Unfortunately, the game is very short, with each boss only taking an hour to complete. The gameplay is sadly not good enough to make a game this short worth the $15 price tag. Is this game a masterpiece? No, certainly not. It is an indie action game, fun, but not a masterpiece. Dog Duty is a top-down real-time tactical action game where you control a squad of three characters while they are on a mission to dispatch the evil Octopus Commander and his brutal army as they attempt to take over earth. The Octopus…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://youtu.be/R45hD2x9ipU There is a ton of potential here. Squad combat. Top down, with some strategy things. Open world is novel and pretty cool. Pixel graphics are well done and fun. i can't wait to see what the devs have in store for this game. Keep up the great work!

Dog Duty is a top-down isometric small team action game that feels like it had some old-school inspirations from the Commandos games in that it has some real-time tactics and separated into the smaller missions even though the map is fairly open and accessible with the several vehicles in-game. Let me be clear and up front about this game,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed it for what it was, mindless fun. Although I picked it up for 90% off and played with mouse/keyboard which probably helped a lot. There's enough options in there to make it seem deep, although once I found my default character/weapon combo that worked I didn't feel the need to ever change it. The greater challenge was playing the for the B-side achievement. It's fine, retro and won't take more than 2-3 hrs to complete (probably slightly a bit more to 100%). Kind of reminded me of…

Dog Duty: ~~~~~~~~ Your three-man squad was sent to Octopia to eliminate the evil leader known as Commander Octopus; a nutcase who wears a deep-sea diving helmet with tentacles all around it, and who is ready to jeopardize world peace by sending his huge Octo-army to conquer the world! The mission was on track until the Octo-army intercepted a fast-moving beep…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game has mediocre graphics, horrible controls, and there are no clear mission objectives. When controlling your squad, they seem to drag/float across screen. They each have 1 ability each and killing units is the main action. Worse part is controlling the truck/boat. You have to move using arrow keys and this needs to be improved...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok, I do believe I can move on from my past grievance with this game since it's been addressed; concerning the profanity. You REALLY have to drive Romeo insane to actually get him to say curse as much as he did before with the arcade voice mode enabled; though this doesn't change his voicelines, whereas Kilmer has new a kit though that's just a nitpick. The voices can be adjusted and/or muted if they do annoy you, so there's that as well. That said, there's little immodest pics in the desert…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dog Duty is an ok game. It captures the spirit of an old school real time tactical squad combat game. You control a squad made up of 3 mercenaries, with each mercenary having one special ability. You can change their equipped gun and you have available consumable items such as molotovs to deal damage over a large area and syringes to immediately restore health. Your goal is to conquer the three bosses in each zone and head on to defeat the final boss. The tactical part of the combat is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played the game several times before and it's awesome! Really great! It has something that I can't describe The graphics are awesome, some kind of 2D/3D pixel art. Voice acting is very well done. But the gameplay is what makes this game amazing, it's very fun and addictive Anyway, I have high hopes for Dog Duty!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dog Duty is a handheld (Nintendo Switch)/console game that's also been put on Steam as a bit of an afterthought, as it's very much designed for the handheld/console gaming audience. It's a tactical RTS, that is to say, an RTS but without any base building or resource stuff. You know the missions in Command & Conquer where you weren't allowed to build a base or build new units, and you had to try scrape through carefully with the tiny handful of soldiers they give you? Yeah, I hated those.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good tactical shooter with a top-down perspective and lovely pixel art. It is definitely an interesting title for fans of the genre. https://youtu.be/5Euk0iPPKG0 Personally I felt it was a bit difficult and from time to time slow, but developers are working on this as I heard. Worth a look!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So I was searching for clever Action-Strategy hybrids on Steam and found this game that looked like an ultra streamlined strategy/arcade action game but with open-world sandbox structure. So I start it up and I love the retro-action aesthetic, but how's the gameplay? Well the gameplay is like an ultra streamlined strategy/arcade action game but with open-world sandbox structure. In other words it's everything I dreamed it would be! It's awesome. Having a small squad just works. MOST…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An enjoyable ride which feels geared towards casual fans of the genre, if not absolute newbies. By no means a long game, and besides the campaign there is a horde mode playable in 3 different settings. Not much in the way of story, but the gameplay loop, while simple, is quite fun. It's mainly outpost liberation across 3 (or 2?) locations with a boss fight in each until the final showdown. > Control a team of 3 characters with additional ones you can find as you progress, each with a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeah but be careful! Dog Duty is an old school game with harsh penalties for dying. Which already doesn't appeal to most gamers. Then on top of that, it doesn't give anything to the player. Not even a tutorial! The concept is simple enough but if I said anything about it then the game would be spoiled. And it's one of the reasons Dog Duty can't have a complete review. While I feel like I can skirt around spoilers for most games Dog Duty isn't one of them. Now I'm yammering on about why instead…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun Action/RTS hybrid. Unity engine, Pixel art, easy controls, fun dirty sense of humor, isometric view, extremely responsive dev, unique overworld system. A really fun time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Get it. You wont regret it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Only one difficulty Game is very small with only three or four biomes but made artificially longer as success is based on pattern-memorisation or knowing exactly when a soldier is going to come on screen, shoot and where it's going to shoot like Contra or Castlevania. This is only accessible to the most sadomasochistic and not good if you have a large back log of games offering a much much stronger sense of achievement and progress for your limited game time spent. Games are meant to be…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun top-down tactical shooter that's good for filling up a weekend. There's about 5-6 of content and some decent replayability, but be aware: there's still quite a few bugs present. Check out our full video review here!---v https://youtu.be/Hy0WxpkjaKI
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The time I've spent with Dog Duty so far has been enjoyable - it feels quite unique, and I like that the different characters all have their differentiating abilities. As you might expect with an early access game, I hit a couple of bugs, but none were game-breaking, and none are enough to put me off coming back to the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Open world drive to different post-apocalyptic locations, then disembark on top-down squad control combat levels. Brilliant and funny writing and story and evil octopus characters. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKz1qhvYhec
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dog Duty is what I'd call an arcade shooter-style real-time tactics game. In this game, you control a team of 3 commandos - they aren't adorable yet battle-hardened commando-dogs however - and your goal here is to destroy all three "octo-lieutenants" via boss fights before you can enter Octopia where the Octopus commander is waiting for you. Watch me play! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7bLHBTszXw - Completed the Swamp map Why all the obsession over octopuses you may wonder? ...well, I'm…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dog Duty is another game I got to try during the free event. I liked the game overall, the simple strategy game play combined with the art style makes for a relatively unique game. I really liked the art, something about how its done gives it retro vibes that I enjoy. It is a shame this game seems fairly unknown.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR: Cool style with pretty boring gameplay loop, tried to give it a chance two times 1360 days apart, didn't even have the will to get through the first area both tries. Yeah, i don't have much to say about it, when you play the game, you can feel that some love went into it but not much work nor even post-delivery care, some mechanics feel very clunky and the combat is... Lackluster, to say the least, i mean, it's literally just selecting a character (Or every character at once), clicking…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great little game. Fun to play, but easy to beat and not much replayability. I beat the game in about 5 to 6 hours, so $14.99 US Dollars is a bit much for a game like this. I would say half the price would be more fair, especially for such a short game. If you catch this game on sale in the $5 to $8 dollar price range, pick it up. Otherwise I would pass. Would I recommend it? Yes, but not at the price, as I do feel it's overpriced considering it's such a short game. I'm going to give…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good solid fun. Very original hybrid of various genres, developed by a team of friendly and dedicated people. Recommended!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it is fun and i like the voice and the control. It is different and a fun experience on this game. I assume there are a lot i haven't check it out because i just got this game today. My first impression to this game is "Fun", "Interesting" hope this game will become better and better and hope more people can play this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great Topdownshooter which reminds u heavily on MAD MAX. Control a handful heroes, kill ur enemies, fight great bossfights. A completely underrated unknown game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, really captures the old school feel of top down games I played as a kid. Controls take a little getting used to, I often find myself triggering the wrong special ability in a heater fight.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game . brings back childhood memories.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →freetime of this game in early access it loaded up and i thought omg what trash lol BUT! its actually fun when u give it a go, learn the ropes i mean i played completed teh thing so must have liked it a lot heh this was early access one large mission with 3 islands and the main capital to kill dunno if they add more i guess so :) at first the always screaming response to orders is annoying but i guess u get used to it the mechanics of the game really grew on me and defeating them lol its…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a fun top down action shooting game even though its keyboard and mouse controls are a little rough. Also, it got difficult and annoying. It ran nicely on my decade old, updated 64-bit W7 HPE SP1 PC with 6 GB of RAM and ATI Radeon 4870 video card (512 MB of VRAM). I hope to play it more later before its free trial ends. :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In this video I take a look at Dog Duty, an arcade action game. It's great to see some old school arcade fun with decent quality. This title is addictive and great fun. It doesn't really have a proper tutorial so initially it's goals are a little vague but once you pick it up it's great. Don't just go in gun's a blazing' either, some planing can really save the day. I made it back from having only one near dead guy at one point, it was great! Take a look. Watch the video to see what the game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game! It's sometimes a little tough to control, but I really enjoyed the experience once I got the hang of it. Deserves better than a Mixed review :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game for less than a dollar during the sale. The progress of the game is cute and the dot graphics are lovely. I think it's a game worth trying. Joypad manipulation is exotic but not intuitive. It's optimized for keyboard and mouse manipulation. Choose three troops to move strategically together or fight separately. I also feel the sensibility of the classic dos game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great concept but the amount of gamebreaking bugs literally makes it unplayable. If these were fixed it would be a fun game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i admire zanardi and liza work ever since battle bruise and i really enjoy this game quite a lot you gotta be carefull when you walk around the enemy lines but there is plenty action well
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Has some glitches, like the driver cam showing the driver either getting smaller or the insides of the vehicle getting larger, and the cat person is posed like they hold a minigun no matter what they're equipped with, and the boat being 1-hit KO'd by electricity, but is overall a great short game, though I recommend getting it on sale, because it's worth around 5 bucks, not the regular asking price of 15. Really looking forward to a sequel if there will be one. Some tips for fellow players:…
