It does have an interesting gameplay gimmick, but the level design is boring and the combat is just downright repetitive. Pros: Cool gameplay gimmick. The whole gimmick setting this game apart from similar titles (such as the inevitable comparison to Castle Crashers) is that each player controls a Valkyrie, a fancy term for a ghost that has the ability…

Die for Valhalla! is an amazing combination of rogue-lite and side-scrolling beat-em-up style game that has amazing graphics and catchy music. This game is absolutely huge with so much continuous slaughtering fun! There are two different playing modes, the first is essentially an arcade mode with a larger world where there are a ton of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It has pretty mediocre game design. The level-up system is nice, but the game play feels stale. The enemies don't get more interesting as the game progresses, they just get more HP. The final boss seems impossible to beat without grinding. Buy Castle Crashers, Charlie Murder, or Son of a Witch instead.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beat 'em up? Sure. Roguelite? No. From the description, I was expecting something like Rampage Knigths or Son of a Witch, but this game lacks a lot in the roguelike department. The only roguelike feature it has is permadeath - and the game is so easy that you might never get to see it. I would have still liked the game if the rest was good, but there are many flaws. The graphics is very nice, almost Don't Starve like, but the animations are stiff and many of the attack animations just look…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game after watching KeepEtClassy play it. Overall I'd say it's short and fun, and even more short and fun if you have 1-3 friends with you and sufficient controllers. I had neither, but nonetheless it was good. It took seven hours to beat, and a better player will be able to do it quicker than that, but if you do Hardcore mode you'll be having a few Game Overs to go through. In a lot of ways this is your classic side-scrolling beat 'em up - move about and try to judge if the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very straight forward hack and slash. Plot is ok. Graphics are ok. If you get it cheap and want to mindlessly grind then this is the game for you. I was about a third of the way through the game and I lost all interest in it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Glorious! Side scrolling beat 'em up with a viking bent. Really good fun. Slightly simplistic controls, great music and cutscenes. Distinctive art style. I love it. :D https://youtu.be/YbRjQ-WniAM
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great game !!! I recommend !!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Charming, funny, action packed and rather difficult beat them up game. What I liked in Die for Walhalla: - quite challenging gameplay - nice graphics, great design of monsters and bosses - you will hack and slash tousends and feel somehow light and relaxed - bloody Vikings! - couch co-op mode with bloody Vikings! What I did not like: - design of some levels looks somehow similar - boss fights are sometimes difficult as hell and frustrating (especially in single player mode)…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome game. Really enjoyed!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice beat'em up. Fun game with nice visuals and a very reasonable price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Die for Valhalla!" is a Nintendo Switch game that's been dumped on Steam so PC gamers can pretend their gaming rig is a handheld gaming appliance instead a PC. It's a basic arcade brawler, a little like a lazy ripoff of Golden Axe from the 1980's, only with worse graphics. Yeah, console gamers continue to make gaming worse for everyone. There's a couple of quirks in this viking themed Golden Axe ripoff, like you resurrect warriors and then control them to do the fighting, but little…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →- Art is beautiful - Gameplay more or less - level and mob design poor -> idk what player base seeks this game, but it is poor - simple story not bad After all, first two hours are fine, then it is boring. Dynamic of game is quite fine, good coop. Skills are random. Tbf, Castle Crashers are great than Die for Valhalla. Idk, give it a shot. In discount it can cost around 3,5€.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bad game, Very unbalanced and require grinding. Achievement tip: Read what it requires to get an achievement so you can execute them in the game early.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its boring. Its boooooooooriiiing !! Dont buy this
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is full of good humor beat 'em up adventure RPG game taking it's placed in world of Vikings. As a mythical Valkyrie we use (possess) warriors armed with axes, swords, bows and other weapon to fight against various enemies. As more you play you unlock different clans so different heroes are available, all have different special attacks and all can be used to match individual game style or an enemy. Valkyrie can also take control of items like traps or barrels and use them in the fight.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I highly recommend it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this game for almost nothing. If you can catch a good sale it's definitely worth it (im talking sub 5 bucks). The art is nice but the combat is limited. All things considered there must be something to it because I played it longer than some more expensive games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'd recommend it, it's a good game with nice mechanics, it can be challenging as well, you can play as a regular beat'em all or as a roguelike, it has RPG elements to it, the difficulty is increasing as you gain more power, the art style and the music are really nice and helps the story delivering, there is also funny moments with the cut-scenes which introduce a level, you have several classes and many possiblities to approach the game, it is really easy to pick up, has a nice playtime and a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Easy game that allows you to sit back and enjoy hack and slashing, probably fun with friends but as a single player it ends up being very repetitive. If you are looking for a game that doesn't require crazy ammount of skill or thinking this is it :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I backed this game during the Kickstarter campaign, and I'm happy to say that the end product is more than satisfactory. A full release on a variety of platforms is an excellent start, to be sure, and the gameplay is pretty tight. Definitely recommend hardcore mode for a real challenge.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Way better then I expected ;) Really cool couch co-op game, which holds up really well when you play alone.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A coop beatemup, that is, unfortunately, way too repetitive and gets boring real fast. I mean, you can still die for valhalla. Of boredom. Might work for a few hours, if you're out of coop options.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →D+ its ok - die for valhalla is kinda an xp grind, why does every game need to be the only game you play and drag out combat. - discount castle crashes - decent fun with 4 people - diversity in combat is lacking and it gets old fast - dont go buying it at full price tho - did i miss anything?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a nice little game for local co-op mayhem. You possess different types of warriors with different abilities. It could use a bit more in terms of what different potions mean and so on. The late game is a bit grindy, with bosses that will wear out your controllers and hands trying to finish off their health bars. We only unlocked half of the clans the first time through, so it has a bit of replayability to unlock the others and try to get their achievements. The humor is pretty well done.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fast paced 2D brawler goodness! Controls are tight, Graphics are fun & gorgeous. The game has a nice difficulty to it, you die a ton, but come back for more due to the addicting and exciting combat. + Great control over character, responsive + Nice 2D art and Animations + Combat feels good, each class feels original + Difficulty is a real challenge
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I honestly can't recommend this. It fails as a rouge-lite and most of the other negative reviews have stated why. I'm going to state the reasons it fails as a beat 'em up. My favorite part about beat 'em ups is the feeling of impact on my enemies. Look at Streets of Rage, Final Fight, X-Men, Turtles in Time. Every time your character struck something you saw the enemy recoil, flinch, or mechanically they got stun locked. In this game here, nothing I did felt like it had impact. I can parry…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Die for Valhalla is cunning in its naming as it slowly induces the person playing to kill themselves for real. If i could have jumped my character out of the screen and had him hack my eyeballs out i surely would have. I kept playing and playing and playing and nothing changed or happened or ........sweet jesus , that is the worst game i have played for , i dont know how long! 10/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun and addictive beat'em'up with great visual.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun beat'em up, Unique mechanics and nice artwork!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Die for Valhalla! is an action RPG beat ’em up that takes familiar mechanics from the genre and injects them with a clever twist rooted in Norse mythology. Developed and published by Monster Couch, the game puts you in the role of a Valkyrie, not as a mighty warrior, but as a spirit who possesses fallen heroes to fight in her stead. This concept of inhabiting warriors is the heart of the gameplay and adds an extra layer of strategy to what would otherwise be a traditional side-scrolling…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My son and I really wanted to like this game. But no. PROS Nice art. Interesting level-up system. CONS Even when we tried to develop 2 characters differently, we felt they play pretty much the same. The levels and the enemies felt too repetitive. High level enemies were basically the same as low level ones but with much more HP. Controls felt a bit stiff or even unresponsive when fighting lots of enemies. Boss fights (specially the late ones) were super boring.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun gameplay, good story with balanced humor, decent soundtrack and definitely plenty of hours to play. 9/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Meh. Really basic run-off-the-mill generic beat'em up. It doesn't add anything new to the genre and there is much better stuff around to be played.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am somewhat mixed on this game. It has great animations, creative and diverse monsters that generally require different strategies to take down, and some hilarious cut scenes. That being said i would take a hard look at this game before buying it because it is pretty short and gets insanely repetitive at times because some monsters can have a boatload of hp. Overall this game was great but i would mainly consider it to be a time killer.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A little bit boring but the boss system was good. I bought this game to play with my brother. My brother don't like it and I played all the game alone. If I played it co-op, I know I love the game more and more. Pros: +Body-ghost system never seen before. +Stat upgrades are very creative. Cons: -Music is good but not epic. I can't understand is it a normal music or a boss music. -Sfx not. -There was no sense of knock. (Caused by Sfx.) But it's still playable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its a good game, the gameplay and graphic is so basic but the story is nice

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun brawler reminding me of Castle Crashers
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game, but i was surprised to can't change the control in game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a gem! $9-12 of hack n slash fun! Fans of "Rampage knights" and "Castle Crashers" this is a great game for you . Die for Valhalla follows the same pace, environments and formula as castle crashers with quite a bit more attention to skill point allocation and character development. This game, while a fun multi-player, still shines with an entertaining singleplayer mode. This is often not the case for hack n slash beat em up games. You start by picking a spirit who represents a season. As…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is extremely well made, interesting take on the side scrolling 2D hack and slash game. Very similar to Castle Crashers, but the Valkyrie system is very intriguing. You play as a Valkyrie that can ressurect and take control over a deceased viking warrior, that are all over in the maps you play. There are a decent amount of variance as well, so if you need to be tactical for a boss fight, you can switch them out without too severe of a penalty. Should also be said that I play this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite a fun co-op game so I recommend it if you liked games like castle crasher, viking squad. I do however have 1 big complaint, the difficulty scaling is really poor. It goes from being too easy to too hard very very quickly. What I mean by that is that you level up your character and feel stronger everytime. Once you get to the volcano (maybe 2 to 3 hours in), the difficulty spikes immensely and you feel weaker than when you started the game. It's not a transition or anything, enemies…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For a very, very long time I have not had so much fun playing any game! Pure action and fun. A great choice for playing with friends! If you miss the classic side scroll, but in a modern version, then there is nothing to wait for, try it!
