60 of 163 · most liked firstI think a lot of this game was lost in translation. At the very least, it was hurt by it. There are so many typos. So many. The pacing is slow. Moving around in the game is clunky, and there is so much back and forth, since there are very few actual locations in the game. Six hours, including the mini-game, across 5 streets with only a building or two apiece on average. It's just way too much repetition. Plus, the game forces a linear progression in some respects, but allows you to do other…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is so funny! Not many people will get this type of humor but the jokes and interaction made me giggle many times. The unique art style added to the fun too! This is the first game from Detective Case and Clown Bot series, the story about a detective named Justin Case who's been out of 'cases to solve' for a while before his Policeman friend Garcia hired him to solve a murder mystery happened in Hotel Lisbon, the case about a man who committed suicide with 14 stabs to the back! The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Murder in the Hotel Lisbon, at the first sight, it's just another point&click game. But for Portuguese people it's a landmark in our national gaming industry. Being one of the first Portuguese games on Steam, this one is more special because it portrayts many Portuguese stereotypes and gives a general satyrical view on late 80s/early 90s Lisbon. You play as José Justino (more commonly called Zé, Case in the English translation), a private investigator that gets a robot as part of the heritage…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Para os meus amigos Tugas, o melhor jogo do universo! This game is a masterpiece. It's a perfect example of what an Indie game should be. Made with a short budget (Its Indie, dah), this game isn't focused in showing great realistic graphics, nor revolutionizing the Point & Click genre with innovative gameplay, but using a fantastic and different humour, with a scent of its own. Its the best, but also the riskiest feature of the game. Why? Made in Portugal, this game lives from its portuguese…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Murder in the Hotel Lisbon is a point-and-click adventure that will bring you back to the days of Sam an Max: Hit the Road! With a pixelated artstyle, slightly mature dialogue and humor, and unique world to explore, this game is great for fans of the genre. There are a few issues playing through that you may pick up on, such as a notable amount of typos and a good bit of crashing. In the game you'll be finding clues to a murder and then using them to interrogate different citizens. While this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Detective Case and Clown Bot is a Point-and-Click adventure game made in modern times, but with the aim of bringing back the nostalgia of an era since forgotten, complete even with pixelated graphics and a 256x192 resolution. You take control of Detective Case, a slightly misogynistic failure of a detective, and Clown Bot, a sentient robot that is aware that it is in a video game (and will occasionally make references to this fact) who wants to be a clown. The aim of the game is to solve a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Detective Case and Clown Bot in: Murder in the Hotel Lisbon is not a bad game. It looks good, the music is nice, there's some funny moments. In fact, I enjoyed most of it, up until near the end of the game. It's not bad, but the problems are big enough that I find it difficult to recommend the game. If what you want is a game that has the look and feel of a classic adventure game, this is a good purchase. If you want more than that, including the classic adventure GAMEPLAY, there are some…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommending for the portuguese, but maybe you should avoid it if you're not able to play this in Portuguese. I had a blast, really. All the references and resemblences of my city in a pixelated art style is just amazing to see. A lot of the portuguese culture is shown in this game, and that's why I loved it so much. Even the tiniest things may be referenced, and that's what makes this a huge gem to have on anyone who loves and/or lives in Portugal. The game itself was fun too, the case was…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story is supposed to be funny but to be honest it just felt annoying to me, like a really long cut of Napoleon Dynamite or something like that. Beyond that you click on things and stuff happens. Meh.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The art style is fantastic. It really is, and it is such a shame about the rest of the game. The music is good, but just not very good at being video game music. It gets repetitious very fast. I find it hard to believe that they could have played the game with audio turned on and thought it sounded fine. But the thing that completely kills it for me is the writing. It's painful. English isn't their first language and it shows in every way it can. Either I don't get their sense of humor or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Point and clicks are a crowded market and now reaching out to a new audience thanks in part to Telltale's highly sucessful Walking Dead. Knowing this, it is hard to tell new point and clickers that this game rivals Walking Dead, because it does not. This is not a heart wrenching, emoitonal trip that makes you sick to your stomach. Instead Hotel Lisbon is a lighthearted game that follows a questionably capable detective and his robot sidekick/ unfunny comedian. Hotel Lisbon is dripping with…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →How good does a point and click adventure have to be before one could tolerate the homophobic jokes in the dialogue? Better than this hunk of junk, at minimum.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The good Graphics based on the good old days pixel games Funny story Great scenarios The "mini game" we unlock, in Portuguese is so much fun to play! Simple and easy controls and menus The bad We can't change resolution, in big screens you gonna get huge pixels Final score: 7/10

unlabelledView post →This definitely is a hilarious game, very charming, bringing back old memories :-) I'm not sure if I've got all the jokes in the translation, but what I've got was enough to be one of the funnies adventure games I've played in a while. I've played the linux version and didn't experience any problems like crashes. In fact everything worked, except the part where you can choose to support the developers and (I suppose) should be rerouted to your browser (which maybe sucks for the devs, but is no…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game starts off with a joke about pedophilia in which the main character was involved. That's not a great foot to start off on. I'm not in any moral panic about a joke, but it's poor writing to make the audience loathe a character in the first few seconds. I might give the game more of a chance sometime later, but it was such a poor first impression I had to comment on it here. *Purchased as part of the Yogscast 2018 Jingle Jangle
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oof. This is a bad one. The title is too long to type out, so I'll just call it Hotel Lisbon. Hotel Lisbon is a retro pixelart point n click adventure detective game. It's also a 'comedy' game, jam-packed with 'jokes' and 'funny dialogue'. In case the sarcasm isn't coming through, this is one of the least funny games I've ever played. Before I get to that particular bag of knives, I'll mention a few other bad things. It's quite buggy and is full of errors. I had a few times when the 'camera'…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've just finished this one in more or less 5 hours and I must say that this is a really nice retro-themed point and click adventure. It includes well-expected objects (evidence) to collect, locations to navigate, interrogations to do and a lot of humour in all of those. While I'd probably never get it myself if I didn't happen to get it in a bundle, I'm pretty happy to recommend the game to oldschool point&click adventure fans. Since this was basically my childhood, I can't really say how…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nostalgic for most of the players and a great example of what Portuguese developers can do if given an opportunity. The humour is rather portuguese so I believe that all portuguese steam users should own this one!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jokes are boring and inappropriate, and I can't believe I read the same joke in three languages. Seriously, you really should think about the thoughts you have about women.Really a shame.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great detective quest with stylish old-school graphics. I enjoy every minute of that game, especially the "Question and Item" part. Detective Case is memorable and bright character and his robot is very cute. That's a nice example of a good friend pair. The plot is also good because you really try to guess who is the killer. Plus big thumb up for the humour that could be found in every pixel of game. Well done! Wish you success in sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mediocre detective point&click with some witty banter and an interesting interrogation system. Sadly very straightforward with little actual challenge and a simple plot. Go everywhere. pick up everything, talk to everyone, case closed. The game also offers a few 'sidequests', but even the hardest one can be completed in under ten minutes just by paying attention to some dialogue. Too easy for fans of the genre, too boring for everyone else.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →bigoted trash. if you missed the constant sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and in-general nastiness that is apparently considered "humor" in this game you're either dumber than a bag of hammers or you agree with it, which in turn makes you bigoted trash as well.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're not a fan of sexism, I'd leave this one go. The first 3 "jokes" that are made are extremely misogynist, including one which goes something along the lines of "I should really start asking the age of girls before I sleep with them". Maybe things improve as the game goes on (I switched it off after that) but drawing humour from hinting towards statutory rape is not something I look for in my games. P
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →+ Good retro graphics + At times pretty funny + Interviewing suspects makes you feel like a detective + A couple of sidequests + Intriguing story that pulls you in... - ... but its 'twists' are so silly that you ultimately stop caring - Jokes repeat too often - Drags on around the end of act 2/beginning of act 3 - Having to repeat the entire process again if you fail an interview sucks [Rating: 69/100]

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Like Ace Attorney if all the characters had zero personality. You have a partner who's only purpose seems to be inventory management.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I tend to be quite easily swayed by small, indie point & click adventures, "products of love", but would certainly not recommend this. Ugly, incredibly unfunny, nonsensical and annoying "audience" and "joke" gimmicks, plagued by translation and other bugs. No redeeming qualities, do not buy.

The business mogul, Sebastian Love, aged 42, was found dead in the prestigious Hotel Lisbon. Stabbed fourteen times in the back, the local Police Captain, Garcia, assumes that it must have been suicide, but Detective Justin Case and his mechanical sidekick, Clown Bot, think otherwise. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an extremely entertaining game filled with hilarious scenes going on in Lisbon. All the Portuguese are going to fit in a pure and funny environment that everyone knows. Well in this story we are a private detective and we have the help of our helper a robot. We will try to unravel a case of a man who committed suicide with 14 stab at the same time on his own back. Only the detective and his robot assistant managed to solve this crime happening through several adventures and very funny…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →was not a fan of the blatant misogyny, homophobia, and transphobia. the dialogue is cute and the story isn't that bad but man... the bigotry stopped me laughing pretty quick. not to mention the bug that will not let me finish the last side quest and crashes the game every time i open the save file.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is like that one guy you know who thinks that the reason you don't laugh at their horrible jokes is because you just don't get them. So they repeat the entire joke again, more slowly this time, and explain the punchline to you like you're an idiot. Then you force out a chuckle just to be polite and quietly dread the next time he's going to pull the same stunt, wondering all the while why someone so egotistical about their nonexistent comedy chops doesn't ever partake of an open mic…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lame game, with lame jokes, and that's not in a good way.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would recomend this game to people looking for a nice easy play through, more mature humor, and for the nostalgia of older looking and sounding games. THe game does have flaws in grammatical and spelling areas, but i peosonally thought it somewhat added charm to the game. Over all a good experience and would play a sequal. 8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Portugal! Does that name ring a bell? No? Well then, you should play this game. Even if you know what it means, you should play it. Why? First of all, because it’s a fun game, and that’s what games are all about. I laughed a lot with this point and click and had a great time solving the mystery. Second, you will get a complete murder mystery story full of funny portuguese quirks and plot twists and turns. You’ll get to listen to fado music, for instance. Don’t know what it is? Look it up! positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of those "humor" games where all of the jokes are aimed at 12-year-olds and the game is for some reason incredibly smug about this. It's the kind of game that thinks "women are stupid lol" is a joke and pointing out that the word "homocide" has "h0m0" in it is funny. Then I got to the part where you have to question the manager of the "GAF Bar" and the """joke""" is that you call him "F4G" and you know what? No. No, you don't get to call people slurs and keep my attention. ♥♥♥♥ off.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely amazing! I just love all those funny characters and dialogues. Cannot stop laughing. Hope there will be a sequel!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I give up! I was hoping I could tough out the game, but I'm no longer willing to keep looking for the next clue. I hate the art, but that's personal preference. You can see the sample pictures and decide for yourself. I don't appreciate the humor. I found it more obnoxious than funny. Based on some of the other reviews, it sounds like it might be lost in translation. There were a few gems like the "404" joke and the "OS room", but they were few and far between. The interrogation mechanics,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Call it a personal perversity. Only my love for the wonderful cartoon style compels me to give a thumbs-up. Please, Steam, give us a so-so option! There are bugs, but no game-breakers. There's jank -- such as when I struggled for control of Detective Case's big bulbous wienerfinger in the elevator button screen. The interminable back-and-forth of the almost funny dialogue slowly but surely cuts the throat of comedic timing (a common foible with adventure games, especially translated…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Play time: ~5 hours. Things I didn't like about this game: - The walking cycle is too slow, even with the taxi system; I would've liked a "double-click to skip walking animation" option. - It took me wayyy too long to figure out where the last piece of evidence was that I needed for the final interview. Incredibly frustrating, especially since there is no walkthrough on Steam (or anywhere else, as far as I know). - This game is not queer-friendly. The "Bob" sidequest feels pretty insulting to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not from Portugal, so i'm aware that i probably didn't appreciate the game 100% due to the portuguese version being the superior one, with lots of references and puns unique to the language (understandable, i'm from México and our humor is also almost near-imposible to properly translate), so i played the english version. I didn't think it was a bad version, i enjoyed it a lot, loved the portuguese atmosphere (recognized the fado genre from there), the puns were cheesy but they did get a…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So i played this game with my girl and it's a fun game to be played with a friend or such ,she is not a gamer but she did enjoy the experience and it was funny for her (her 1st game of many ). So we both decided that the game is 9/10 because of the comedy and sense of humour and the twist during the game .
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An excellent seven casual hours of gameplay at an incredibly reasonable price! The story line is rediculous but interesting, not to mention amusing and edgy at times! Completed all the achievements (With the help of great community guides here on Steam) and would happily give the game another run through in a few months! Please bring out another story!!

In this game you are a detective, inherited a clown robot from a deceased relative, and together, you are assigned to investigate a murder in Hotel Lisbon. The game is point and click, detective mode. You have to check the scenarios, find clues, and interrogate characters. The game sounded interesting to me. But in my first minutes playing this game, I only hoped to complete…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, lets put this out of the way straight away. I'm Portuguese and this is a Portuguese game that homages and references Portuguese culture and the 80's, so yeah I'm a bit biased about this one. I did like it and nails all the little nuaces of our culture but... if i'm being honest... as a game, apart from that, Detective Case and Clow Bot is not that good and deep, actually its a bit too simplistic for a point & click adventure game. 2,5/5
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring! I enjoy point and click games and I really wanted to enjoy this game; however, it was just so bad. The story is a bore. The writing is not funny at all. I was speeding through the dialogue just to get this game over with. The laugh track in the background (going off way to much) is annoying. Personally, I give this a 3 out of 10. I give the creators points for the attempt and points for the music; however, the game is stale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun story if you read the dialogues. It's not easy to predict who was the killer its a bit forced, i laughed a lot with this game it's good. It dont have an amazing art, or amazing mechanics its just a story game and you barely need to think about anything to solve it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →⊕ Caricature-like cast is absolutely adorable. Dialogue is a fun read, and an average point n' click player can get through the main story easily. Advanced players were accounted for with tougher side quests that require a bit more noggin juice. The humor in the game ranges from fourth-wall breaking gags to more mature, subtle quips. ⊖ Portuguese translations lead to some spelling errors and syntax. This shows horribly in the stand-up minigame where you need to guess the answers to jokes;…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is entertaining and easy to navigate. It gets a little tricky towards the end but with a little trial and error I figured things out. I haven't finised it because towards the end it started crashing and I didn't feel like starting over at the last save but I bought it on sale and it is cute so I'm not mad.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR first: - You absolutely have to play this game if you are Portuguese and born before the end of the 1980s. - This game is great if you are looking for an easy going point and click adventure of if you want an entry point for the genre. The game being made in Portugal and with the setting being Lisbon in the 1980s, there are some references to stuff that younger and foreign audiences may not be familiar with. Recognizing those references doesn't prevent you from enjoying the game, however…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I passed half of the game, then decided to stop. An old-school click and point game, I enjoyed the beautiful pixel style, Case and his cute clown robot companion. I especially love the set of a theatre stage, like the player is controlling actors doing a detective drama, when Case talks some silly or corny jokes the audiences give reactions. Very creative. NPCs are cute, I like the police officer who is always swinging the baton, and various other NPCs in the restaurant, bar, hotel and in the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting concept poorly executed. Unlike most P&C games, the inventory is not 'used' on anything except when talking to suspects you have to combine the right questions with the right items. It's a cool, neat concept. However the story, the comedy and the bugs leave this game much to be desired.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Bugs bugs and bugs! If you like the bugs to affect your game then get this game." Detective Case and clown bot is a point n click murder mystery game where you play a character whose name I made fun of before this game took it (justin case) trying to solve a murder. It's theorectically a comedy game but each to their own, some things were funny most of it not really. The game plays with the usual point n click mechanics you find typically in that genre, with 1 'unique' idea that was worked…
