60 of 186 · most liked firstBackground: Picked up during the summer sale for pennies. Apparently it's an upgrade of a 2008 DS game with improved visuals and audio, part 2 was never released but you can complete the story on youtube via officially released cinematics. The Good: * Great story and plotting that mix things up * Characters and voice acting are fantastic * Self-aware quips make the characters stand-out * Fun mix of gameplay styles show depth right from the start The Bad: * Looks dated, the pixelated…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game for $0.29 (on sale) and I enjoyed it more than CoD: Ghosts which I bought for 60 dollars, enough said.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would recommend then game, it is cute, fun and interesting. But as a warning there is no other parts ask the wiki stats "The PC version was to be released as two downloadable episodes with a retail version following soon afterward, but the second episode never materialized due to Gamecock being acquired by SouthPeak Games in 2008 and the latter deciding to cancel the inherited title" it was later released on the DS as a full game, heavily scaled down. "In order to complete the story for PC…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Come on guys all of these bug puns ant gonna fly 'round here; you moth do better. Seriously wasp's the point of hating this game? It's un-beelievable. The bee character kept droning on and on at some points. Driving the Volkswagen Beetle was fun. Great soundtrack including Bee-toven and Sting. The bugs got into great anticks. And such a great game? Long time no flea. It's pretty great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a little rough on the visuals but makes for a fun short adventure game. Has a bit of a noir feel to it with some silly jokes and light humor. Unfortunately there will be no part 2 but this is still a decent game for a buck!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have you ever wished your graphic adventure games had a little more action? Or that your platformers required a bit more puzzle solving? Well, Insecticide is here, kind of a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup of point-and-click and action games. Unfortunately, only one of these elements turned out well. While the investigative segments of the game are a blast from the past, the platforming and combat are clunky and frustrating. Developer Crackpot has created an engaging world for Insecticide. The game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So the game itself is pretty decent and VERY much reminds me of the amazing Psychonauts BUT sadly this is only the first half of the game, meaning it has no conclusion. Because the game HAS no ending i really can not recommend, also the combat is rather bland, sadly this game will never be finished :(, it had a lot of potential to.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game makes me want to do meth and kill thousands of bugs. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short Version: Pros: + Setting + Decent detective sections (point and click) + Does not take itself seriously + Enjoyable story + Bug puns Cons: - Action is repetitive - Combat is bland - Platforming is too floaty - Incomplete "Long" Version: Insecticide is a 3D action-platformer with some sections of point and click detective work. We play as Chrys (a detective) and are in charge of investigating a murder at the Nectorola Soft Drink Company. The story soon evolves into something bigger,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'd like to start this review by saying that I've had this game for years; I got it as a birthday gift many years ago. For the longest time, I didn't play it as I was kinda put off by the art style and the theme of bug society and all that. And now that I've played through it, as I'm trying to go through my backlog, I think I should've known better than to judge a book by its cover; or more appropriately, a game by its thumbnail. For as short as this game is, and despite its unresolved…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Regrettably, Insecticide is a Part 1 of 2 series that will likely never be able to be finished as part 2 is not available. You can do some research on your own if you want to know the whole story of why. Part one provides a hybrid gameplay style consisting of action blasting platforming with point-and-click detective work. The mix of the two elements is done well and there are several cinematics that provide a game feel very similar to Psychonauts. As a stand-alone game, it is decent. But…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is Bugs Life meets Call Of Duty
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is the best game in the world. Everyone should play this game because it is awesome and makes me feel like I'm at home, eating my watermelon on a summer's evening
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a lot of bugs.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →gosh this is a weird one, there's a lot going on. so like, this is an improved version of a DS game from 2008 developed by some ex-LucasArts devs featuring some old 4Kids VAs. it's PEAK early 2000s media. the experience is inherently cut short since it was intended to be a two-parter, but due to issues with the publisher, that never happened. on the bright side the original creator did publish all the scenes from this game and the second chapter in full quality…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →6.7/10 - It's really buggy... This game is pretty fun. You are a 'bug' cop working to solve crimes. Has a very noir setting, which i love. The setting, graphics and voice acting are all good. Fluid controls and I didn't experience any issues. For $3 it's a good deal. Sometimes on sale for less. Look forward to grabbing ep. 2. Worth $3. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Insecticide Part 1 is a third person platformer/shooter where you control an insect detective solving some crimes. The artwork is pretty good and the graphics okay. Thematically it's aimed at older kids and it's reasonably family friendly. Unfortunately while the game was released in 2008, when widescreen was quite well established, there's no proper widescreen support, the game just displays a stretched 4:3 image which is really distracting. There's no real reason the developers didn't…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lost Potential Here's a story about broken dreams kids. I saw this old game in a video store, and I wanted it so bad. It was Insecticide for the Nintendo DS. I had read all the reviews about how bad it was, but I chose not to believe them. The Cover Art had me hooked with everything I could want in a game like this: a cool Female Protagonist, a strange world of insects, Film Noire aesthetic, thrilling gunplay and hard-boiled Detectives. I just had to know what the game was about. Solving…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What can I say about insecticide. Its a gem that had many problems when it was in production from theme and world setbacks to a rushed schedule on its release date of 2008. Though the only real problem with the game is its major downfall .The company that made this game was sold and this left the pc version unfinished because of the style they were going for in releasing the game.If you want to play this just for the voice acting and full cutscenes pick this up on a sale otherwise dont buy…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Somewhat simplistic but fun regardless. Pity part 2 got cancelled.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good platformer if you are poor
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You know those movie tie in games for kids films that were like, incredibly mediocre platformers that were about an hour or two long? That's Insecticide only it's not based off some movie.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not enough bug puns.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →That jumping at the start... Love the game otherwise! Unique mix of styles ♥ Voice acting superb! Where is part 2? Nowhere to be seen... *cries into pillow just like onion boss from cuphead*
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very nice Psychonauts-esque game. A platformer with shooter elements. Pretty kid friendly. It´s pretty funny. An insect detective noir story with cute one liners. Too bad it did´not sell good so the second part never came out. You fund the cutscenes online though. The publishers published the finished stuff a while ago. It´s fun and i can only say good stuff about it. I like it and so would you i think.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →PC port of a DS title with better graphics and controls optimised for PC - don't let that put you off too much. Incredibly unique setting, interesting story, cute protagonist, enjoyable action sections, I had a lot of fun. You'll be disappointed when it ends on a cliffhanger, and they never made Part 2, so I'm about to try the original with DeSmuME. You'll probably want to do that instead of getting this, if you (understandably) want to play the full game, and/or don't want to pay for half a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kicked a bug as a bug then the game bugged +This is next gen - Needs more fish AI 9/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best Game ever. I just love it. It needs no scopes though. It is bout a badass bug on the run against cockrotch
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun TPS, but it feels like we're never getting the full story which is sad.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →couldn't find the cream for 20 minutes, would recommend
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I Just Bought this game becase there is a review from guy @DyceCube who got 12100+ hours in this game. Come on man show some respect to gamers. sorry for your bitcoin loss but This one is for you @DyceCube. Cheers
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a disgusting game. Indie games, ha. Pro - good voice acting - music? Con - cockroaches, i hate them - what nonsense story - laggy gameplay controls - begins easily enough then the end spamming with enemies and huge boss - half a game - every platform is slippery and you die from falling instantly - bad checkpoint system - bad language "fingering" bugs, awful conversation options - cutscenes could have used the game engine instead of that low quality video 3/10 rating.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I went into pun overload in the first five minutes. Everything else is just forgettable. This game looks and feel really bad, it wouldn't be too bad for the year 2000, but this was released in 2008. I understand it's basically a DS port, but this only makes it look even worse. Was it really necessary? Graphics are clearly lacking for the Portal era, obviously they thought porting to pc means only changing the control settings. Again, it could've looked nice on a DS, but on a pc it's…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Better than Badrats. 0.00001/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →9 minutes of bad puns and incredibly below par 3rd person shooting. Looks and feels like its one of the PS1 releases that nobody remembers. 2/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know if anyone likes this game since it's bundled with Real Horror Stories and Bad Rats (in which both were pretty bad games), but I don't care about anyone's opinions, this game is pretty awesome. It's basically a mixture of very popular games such as Fallout, L.A Noire, etc., it contains a fair amount of humor, and very difficult puzzles and maps, but fun to play and figure out. This game makes you feel like your playing Spongebob: Battle of Bikini Bottom (for the Xbox), in which by…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really nice game, in the vein of PC/PSX/PS2 platformers of the late 90's and early 00's. Gave me a bit of nostalgia for the genre. Decent voice acting, the graphics are plain in today's day and age but they have their charm. Recomended especially if you grew up on spyro, jak and daxter, ratchet and clank. Also, got it on a sale for 29 cents. Great value for the money.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Detective parts were so horrible that it made the really bad shooting parts amazing 11/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I paid 29 cents for this game, but it still wasn't worth it at all. You start out, get spawned in, no introduction/tutorial, everyone guns blazing at you. Like what the frick am I supposed to think? 2/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Spent 35 minutes looking for cream for a cockroach for his coffee after giving the fat ♥♥♥♥ a donut 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an okay platformer/shooter combination but it doesn't excel in either. The atmosphere is pleasantly odd, the setting is unique enough, the music is decent, the gameplay is acceptable but way too easy and therefore boring. Moreover, the game is short and the story unfinished (part 2 never came out). Perhaps it'd be actually a good game for a kid, but otherwise it's rather difficult to really recommend it even for a low price. If you have it in your account then sure, might as well give it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Four legs, three vaganias
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A game that wasn't particularly bad but not great either. I still think it is something to buy if you want something short and decent but if you have high expectations on finding a "hidden gem". It looks dated however given the age it is and that is nothing to really hold against it. Where it gets tricky is how it feels undercooked. The controls and such feel a bit sluggist, the platforming can betray you, the weapons are tempremental. What is great is the worldbuilding but every time you wanna…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool game with interesting noir approach, too bad it was released incomplete, but it's still enjoyable. Yeah, this game could've been a lot better if it was complete, but you can have fun with it. I'd give it a higher rating if it was a complete game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →buggy, i could not interact with anything
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a legitimately fun game, if a bit short. I don't understand why there was never a Part 2. Also, the game totally nails that whole film noir feel. Film noir is meant to portray the world as being kind of dismal, sad and corrupt and this game nailed that feel, while still being fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nostalgia effect doesn't work here. It's just too boring.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i get that i'm not far into it i'm only like 30 minutes but still if a game cant grab you in the first half hour then will it ever? i'm just board with it. in the game you play a cop in a world of bugs but the world feels so disgusting with the colour scheme being mostly brown and green i know that's how it is supposed to feel. yet is is not a bad game i hesitate on calling it good but it dosent suck and you can get some fun out of it if you like this sort of game play and themes so if your…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite a fun casual shooter/platformer/adventure game. It's not always easy and obvious, so there's some challenge to overcome, and the narrative is quite interesting, although, considering there's no part 2, it goes nowhere. The game is cheap though, so, if you want to spend a couple of hours on an unusual game, it's worth it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoy the shooting and platforming parts. Not too much the detective parts. It's 50 cents, I'll get over it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The lip sync was not existent, the deaths by falling were ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and it was never finished. However, I liked the story and characters and felt that if it wasn't rushed it would have been a really great game. I still recommend playing it especially for 49 cents.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was actually a fun game. I enjoyed the nostalgic gameplay that reminded me of my playstation 2 gaming years. Part 2 is coming in Summer of 2008, can't wait! But really, you can watch part 2 cinematics on youtube.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →almost as good as part 2
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cutscense / intro video super low res, please don't pre-render. :/
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Reminds me of a low budget classic Xbox game. Meh. 5/10 is ok
