60 of 198 · most liked first"There is more stupidity than hydrogen in the universe, and it has a longer shelf life." - Frank Zappa Well... Demetrios is COWCAT games' first project and an adventure game that I'm sincerely on the fence with. There is a truckload of good and bad about it, just within the boundaries of a perfect balance. Considering it is the first ever game of the developer, I think congratulations are in order. Aside the questionable humor, game dynamic is more than decent for an adventure game. It all…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very much a mixed bag for me. Pros: - Nice graphics - Good production (meaning i didn't encounter typos or bugs) - Fun puzzles, challenging but not frustrating or ridiculously counter-intuitive. - Good length Cons: - Seemed to drag on towards the middle for me. (after the first flight) - Odd pacing/execution at some points. ie: hey rando neighbor i just suddenly found out the protag actually cares about let's go to another continent with your daughter and later let's go to Germany for five…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was going into this game hoping that it wasn’t just going to be a “Hector” type game that swapped out all those sexual jokes for toilet humour and I am glad to say it wasn’t like that at all (sorry Hector lovers that game was so not for me). Although the first chapter has some toilet humour and did slightly dominate plot and gameplay as the game progresses it mostly evens out and becomes a surprisingly really good, well rounded game in gameplay, plot and even humour. It also is a good…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A classic point&click game which gave me a good laugh. I enjoyed reading the whole adventure and I actually liked the fact that you can choose if you want those 'jokes' to be dirty or tone it down to none at all, this made the game family friendly. The main character Bjorn Thonen is exactly how the developer described him, a slob and an idiot in a way that makes you laugh at his conversations and actions. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1142883146 I know some of the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →- Re "cynical": I still don't know why the subttile. The only thing I could think of is the developers being cynical about their own view of adventure games. - I think, having played those really old adventure games like Space Quest and Monkey Island and so on that adventures need to have humour. This game does not. - All characters are equally unlikable and as cliché as characters can be (sexist dude, dumb blonde, spoiled brat, dirty arab merchant, etc). Perhaps that counts as humour in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Edgelord point & click adventure. Funny enough in the beginning, though the characters are ugly and annoying, but the stereotypes, sexism and thinly veiled racism really got too much for me. Seriously, people are outraged at the fart noises but not at that stuff? I didn't even decide to stop playing because I was "offended", I just took a break almost two years ago and could never be bothered to come back to it. That probably says something about how interesting it was, too. If you want a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Demitrios - The BIG Cynical Adventure is proof that point-and-click adventures can still be fun. Fans of the Monkey Island, King's Quest, Roger Wilco, and Sam & Max series will find a welcome trove of puzzles and sarcasm embedded in farcical narrative that might even make you laugh out loud. The mechanics show tremendous improvement over 90's era games in the genre, such that intuition is usually enough to explore each handcrafted scene. Navigation through the world is instantaneous, omitting…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What it is A relatively long (for the genre) 'adventure' game which describes itself as like Broken Sword, but is probably more like a cross between a hidden object game and a visual novel. As a lover of classic point and clicks I was excited to play this, and although it wasn't terrible, it didn't live up to my expectations, mainly due to lack-lustre, one-dimensional characterisations and sub-par execution. The Good Stuff + A decent length for the money + Art style isn't bad + Story is OK,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Feels very amateur, which is to be expected since it was mostly made by one person. Shows some good design decisions as well as some moments of meta-humour and fourth-wall poking to contrast a lot of childish, scatalogical or lost-in-translation humour. Try the demo first (featuring the entire first chapter) before considering a purchase. UPDATE (03/10/2016): Apparently the game has been updated with an optional 'toilet humour filter', a new music track for the Nogo area and various other…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A mostly straight-forward point-and-click with a few out-of-the-box puzzles. There are many things to click on, maybe too many. In the end, though, that is probably why I spent so much time here. Overall, it is a mediocre game, but I enjoyed my time with it. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I probably would have enjoyed the game more but for the appalling child. Humour could only be described as sad - and I'm not actually talking about the toilet 'jokes' but the rest of the sorry tale. As a point and click game it had some decent puzzles and can be best described as a fifth rate Broken Sword, bless it's little soul, it did its best. But that child - please rewrite the game and allow me to handcuff her, put her in a suitcase and throw her out of a plane in mid flight. Ican only…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The precise genre of this game is difficult to nail down. Is it a Point & Click? A hidden object game? A visual novel? Most likely a little bit of all the above. Irregardless I enjoyed playing it and if your a fan of any of those types of games I'd say give it a go! Pros ---------------------------------------------- -Funny. If toilet humor is your thing you'll love this game. -Comic book style graphics. -Built in hint system. -Autosave/Continue function works well. -Weird story and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like lame toilet humor or you are 13yo and giggle every time you see something ♥♥♥♥ or tits shaped you'll definitely like this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't let the play time fool you, I've finished the game in offline mode. Demetrios is a game that looks like a bunch of fart jokes at first but actualy proves to be more than that. Sure, there's a lot of toilet humor and if you hate it, you probably won't enjoy yourself. And there is a LOT of jokes everywhere. You literaly can't go 5 minutes as Bjorn without doing something stupid, but this gives the game a certain sort of charm. I found Bjorn to be extremely charismatic and you can't help…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're a 12-year-old who likes fart jokes then this game is for you. If you're an adult in mind and/or body then rather give it a miss. The hour I spent was a waste of my time. I found the game extremely tedious and boring. Controls are badly designed and requires a lot of extraneous clicking. I could go on but I can't be bothered...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got to second chapter and couldn't bring myself to keep playing. The art is lazy and ugly as is the dialogue and cheap toilet humour. Sexist and gross characters - just a really unlikable game that gives off a heavy incel vibe.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had the opportunity to receive a recommendation of this game. It looked interesting but I never could of imagined it was so good and fun. I even managed to finish it in 2 days. It was very fun, with lots of puzzles and great music. I definitely recommend this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A tediously written adolescent game I couldn't be bothered to finish.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A mediocre point and click game filled with toilet humor. You play as 20 something antique shop owner who hasn't matured past first grade who gets involved with murderous plunderers who try to raid a Middle Eastern secret to find unbelievable treasure who has a crush on his next door bimbo neighbor who's still better because she's kind and her "special" child bordering on autism (who's mostly insufferable because the main characters are idiots). The big issue with the game is that there's…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Works flawlessly on Ubuntu Linux. Point and click adventure game, in the spirit of Sam and Max. Some very funny and surprising moments. So far, nothing too crass about the toilet humor. Not too difficult puzzles. Wholeheartly recommended. Update: just finished chapter two, and feeling this is the best point and click that I have ever played... really connect with this humor, the clue system is awesome, and the story is actually interesting! Two thumbs way up. Update: just finished the game...…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a hilarious journey with Bjorn, who turns out as a clumsy, yet charming and never boring protagonist. He reminded me a little bit of Larry or Rufus in his attempts to perfection, which often fail but in the end succeed, though the outcome is not exactly, what he intended. Merciless unterestimated by all, he encounters the craziest challenges, while remaining sympathetic and entertaining, even when .... but no spoilers here! The story is exciting and spiced by special 'toilet humor',…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Toilet humor-adjustable fun point and click. It’s silly and oftentimes gross, but ultimately will brighten your day with the crazy adventure of a total doofus for an MC. Bright comic-book style graphics plays nicely into this light-hearted p’n’c. Bjorn has a funny tidbit for every little thing you’ll see on the screen (including a different one for every cookie you will be enticed to collect – which is impressive as there are A LOT), and you’d you want to click on loads of stuff just to hear…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has so many jokes that there's an option to turn some of them off!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a pleasant surprise! This game has been sitting in my wishlist (alongside a lot of other point-and-click games) for a long time, the art style being the biggest reason for my hesitation. But once I gave this game a chance and got to know it a little better, it turned out to be quite charming, funny, creative and smart. And as expected, its appearance grew on me pretty fast. The main plot is nothing earthshattering, but a lot of creative choices spice it up enough to make the whole…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finished it now after 10 hours and am quite satisfied :-D It's very polished (I have encountered no bugs or crashes), the story is entertaining, the puzzles not to hard, there are some nice minigames - one can see that there was much love put into this game. Only the jokes/the dialogues got a bit enervating over the time, especially towards the end it became very disgusting - too much pissing, pooping, farting and vomiting ;-) But besides that it was fun and kept me interested the whole time :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Demetrios – The BIG Cynical Adventure: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bjorn Thonen is an inhabitant of the beautiful, sophisticated city of Paris. As an antique dealer, you must be refined, speak eloquently and above all have impeccable knowledge of the antique industry. That is exactly what our dear friend Bjorn is lacking in. Let’s say that he is a bit rough around the edges. After an heavy night out with his mate Tom in downtown Paris, our slobby antique dealer managed to find his way…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not terrible and I appreciate how it feels like a one-man job. Said that, I really didn't like (and even despised) the characters and their art style.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game might be actually called an adventure, but "jokes" and "puns" used here MUST never be called cynical - neither ironical, nor sarcastic to make it even more clear. 90% of the "funny stuff" you get confronted with looks like a quite silly 14-year old guy has written the script and the dialogues: Jokes about excrements, genitals, and similar things dominate the game, the story is infconsistent and the characters do not have any kind of depth. I got this game for free so I do not complain…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was looking for some very dark cynical ♥♥♥♥ and all I got was farts and childishness. Also graphics are horrific, like some high schooler who was just learning to draw characters did them. Well if you like a flashback to 90s then this is fine. The praise -almost 10h of playtime -I can look and do everything I like -sometimes funny (10% of time) -has controller support The nag -characters and environment drawn as horrible as the jokes are bad -music is even worse than the graphics (had to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the rare classical (mechanical-wise) adventure games that doesn't put on too serious a face. It's a really big adventure with good dialog and inventory puzzles, colorful characters - and good humor. Yes, sometimes it's toilet humor (it's quite good, but you can turn it off), but there's also fine situational comedy and satire. And it feels fresh to play as a cynical slob, art dealer (yeah, right) Bjorn Thonen and other somewhat unpleasant but alive-feeling folks.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →6.5/10 A slightly Deponia-esque game in that the character's personality is based off of the same basic stereotype, but Deponia is much more complex and elaborate. This can be played in a couple of days (one day if you really wanted to). If you have the sense of humor of a junior high boy, the toilet humor will NOT be lost on you (it definitely wasn't lost on me). If you happen not to have that sense of humor, you have the option to turn off the toilet humor. Nearly all of the puzzles were…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow what can I say this was an absolute AMAZING game!! It was a totally classic P&C adventure in every way possible. Lots of locations and characters, a few puzzles and TONS & TONS of hot-spots, all with tongue n cheek commentary, plus there's definitely a story here. I could name drop.. For example Monkey island including some of the puzzles being a mix of clever and at times frustrating. There extra hidden objects in each location without hot-spots which are cookies which grant you hints.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The humor is a bit (okay, way too) much for someone not into toilet humor, but that can be toned down or turned off completely via a setting. The puzzles aren't tedious and the sprinkled in minigames are a fun change of pace. Also a linux port and the game is really well suited for achievement hunters, after completing the game once you can skip dialog and jump to certain chapters where you might've missed cookies or game overs. The cookie system is also really good if you come back to the game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →GREAT GAME! I really loved its humour. People should calm down, I love sophisticated humour and jokes, but I also love fart jokes. And its fart jokes are PERFECT. I can see there was plenty of work put into it. Look every dialogue, match items, you'll find hillarious dialogues. I also love the way some matters are criticised. EVEN THE PLAYER gets some. I hope there will be a Demetrios 2. And who knows, he may get lucky with the neighbour.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are a lot of supposedly comedic point and click adventure games, but most of them aren't funny, and they tend to just get increasingly annoying in making you listen to lots and lots of failed, badly voice acted attempts at humor. The incredibly unfunny Deponia games are some of the most glaring examples of this, and I was afraid from its description that Demetrios was going to be similar in style to Deponia. Instead Demetrios is a rare exception in being legitimately funny pretty much…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game feels like the yellow shirt you got in the discount bin which you kinda wanted, wouldn't die without, but wouldn't pay too much for. It's a for-the-luls type of game that is a good way to pass a couple hours, but replayability is almost nil for me. I didn't hate the game but I didn't enjoy it THAT much either. Humour not really to my style, toilet humour is just... eh. Overall ok game but I would have rather spent my money on other point and clicks.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is mostly filled with some childish jokes. There's also a huge amount of toilet humor as well. If you like that kind of thing: You will like this game. It's clearly visible that they put a lot of effort into it. I have to give this game a positive review. It's good. Some of the jokes are quite painfully easy to make. But that's bound to happen in this kind of a game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has a georgeous look and feel to it, nicely done menus/UI. The story is a bit meh, but better than expected. Will tip my hat to the auto save, hint system, and painless death sequences. Almost has the quality of a triple A PnC Adventure. I had my reservations about the toilet humor, but so far its been decent enough to get a few laughs out of me. My only complain is the lack of voice acting, really wish the game had it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A below average adventure game, not sure why it gets such positive reviews. The story isn't interesting and the characters are really annoying. The childish humour doesn't help. The puzzles are either easy or in a few cases nonsensical. Not a terrible adventure game but I can't recommend it when there are so many much better games on Steam.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Neverending dialogues and nonsensical plot. There is not a single character that is not annoying as hell.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved it XD I got so hooked on the game and the story, it was amazing and I hope the creator makes more games similar to this one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well I have give this game a good go and what can I say I have had so much fun loads of comedy which suits my sense of humour and a great adventure game with well crafted handstyle drawings, the devopler as don't it all on his own fair play to him any feed back or bugs he works on it straight away thank you Breton Fabrice :)

unlabelledView post →Demetrios: The BIG Cynical Adventure Replastered (2022, PS5) Rating: 7/10 Reasonably enjoyable point-and-click. Navigation is quick and responsive. Puzzles are mostly straightforward, with a few tricky ones. Hints are plentiful. The humor never landed for me, but the dialogue reads pretty smoothly.
unlabelledView post →one of the point and click games i did not enjoy. getting one achievement itself was tough, cookies are a hassle to find, and the comedy is bland with Bjorn playing as some kind of failed bad boy. will just force myself to play this to get all the achievements.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I guess I'm going to say yes - but I do not like the Fun Fair (just don't think arcade games are fun). Achievement hunters who dislike arcade games should avoid this one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly I did not expect much when I started to play this point n click adventure game. Gladly I can say that I ended up enjoying this game so much, that I actually re-played to find all cookies and unlock all game endings and achievements. Yes there is toilet humor and quite a lot of it. But for me it did not get in the way of following the story , and it made me actually giggle quite often. Ow and if you do not like the toilet humor, you can minimize the amount or just turn it off…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They promised 8 hours of fun, I got 9. Great but unique style adventure game. All cutscenes are cartoon comics. Music is rather earwormish. Will get you hunting for cookies!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really enjoied this game. I'm not normally one for text only point and clicks but this one was well worth it. Funny and a good story with challange but hints avalible. My only tiny down side was the main menu was a bit laggy when assessing it while playing the ( usually game to check the cookie and death screen). Favourite feature is the fast skip after you've completed the game so you can achievement hunt in a fraction of the time, which was still fun and frustraiting as missing one damn…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →no real story line and the point and click wasnt a lot of fun. It was just slapstick humor and meiocre game play
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have somewhat mixed feelings about this game. Positive: + The gameplay is classic point-and-click style. Collect items, talk to people, get "quests". One good addition they have made is the in-game hints system a la professor layton. There are small cookies hidden throughout the game that can be used to get hints if you are very stuck, which goes a long way to solving the often annoying point-and-click issue of just not getting a particular puzzle, without having to outright cheat. + The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Only played 20 minutes so far and the game definitely is fun. The jokes are not for everyone but definitely made me laugh. review is on my youtube channel: https://youtu.be/R2gaMSLhMgI
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I actually liked it, played like 12-13 hours non-stop :) weird humour - reminded me of Randal's Monday.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I felt the game was well made as I'm a big fan of point and click. I wouldn't say it's the best game out there, but the level of toilet humor was enough on the main character to make me chuckle such as it was in games like Deponia and Randall's Monday. The cookie system was helpful and made it more fun I felt with all the different ways to kill off your character. After two playthroughs I was able to get all the achievements.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really liked this game!! It was unique and fun!! There was some challenges and I laughed a lot. I was a lot of good reading, can't wait till the next from this guy!! : )
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://youtu.be/vMyyUCcXrsg This point and click adventure is pretty funny. I enjoyed the adult humor in it, as well as the mystery that we were trying to solve. There was a variety of choice in each chapter. Chapter 2 and onwards have a lot of different places to choose from, mini games to spend time at, and fun things to collect. I also like how the developer made each scene "where's waldo"-esque game but with cookies that you could then use for clues.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well overall user reviews should keep this short and simple; Demetrios - The BIG Cynical Adventure is first person point & click adventure, altough it has beautiful drawn graphic and very challenging puzzles, game is lacking of music variety. The interesting story packed with tons of humor is quickly sucking you in to the game, however it may not be very beginner friendly, it may need you some time to figure out all basics. Overall; I'm definitely recommending this game to anyone who like…
