That's why... This is just a remind to my future self: There's no balance after level 5, stop wasting time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's a review for this game that perfectly states the problem with it. I quote : "Every now and then I think to myself, why don't I give this game another try? Level 1 - 4: This game is fun! Why do I always quit after a while? Level 5 - beyond: Oh... That's why..." Level the early levels are a breeze, but the game doesn't really "start" until you reach at least level 4 and above, i say so because at that point, the game introduces new mechanics that it doesn't bother to inform you about or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It hurts to give this a no. Perhaps it's just not for me and I don't like giving negative reviews in that case, but there's a few issues with the game that I feel like made it not enjoyable. The deck building was a little wonky but not unbearable, and could be rewarding. Card draw was king but that's kind of standard, especially when it's hard to thin out your deck. I felt like this made the leader class basically indispensable, which also made them basically just sit there passively buffing…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You're probably drawn to this game because of it's turn-based game play and aesthetics reminiscent of Darkest Dungeon. Don't waste your time. This game is unplayable, glitchy, beyond repetitive and just not fun at all. The interface is difficult. This is just a terrible game. I know the price is low, but this is still not worth it. Avoid at all costs.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Starlight glimmers in a junkyard in that fleeting moment when a single card outweighs the very air one breathes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun but very imperfect game. I would fully recommend it considering the cost. The mid game feels the toughtset and by getting level 9-10 you really feel the power of your characters.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeah this game just isn't good enough. Edit: I've now played Darkest Dungeon. Just play Darkest Dungeon, its better in every relevant way. The Good: - Roguelike Deckbuilder that runs smoothly on a Macbook (Best part of the game for me specifically) - Dope artstyle - Reasonable price - Engaging combat - Fun strategies - Plenty of different ways to build decks - Well designed and fair heal system - Addicting gameplay loop (very easily no-lifed) - Wide breadth of character skill trees - Deck…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It boggles my mind that people would review this negatively. It's a fun game. Good loop. Good humor. Good art. Not super deep in mechanics. I've gone back and played through a handful of times. Will play again.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The higher levels of this game aren't as bad as people say they are, that's not the problem. You can finish the game on the hardest difficulty pretty easily, not flawlessly you will die to those higher level enemies and have to learn in classic DD style, or just getting lucky on your deck drawing the right cards which is a problem with many deckbuilder games. The real problem is that the encounters and the gameplay loop gets so repetitive, and your teams stomp most the enemies so often, that…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just like a lot of rogue-lites these days. Great concepts and fun gameplay for a couple hours, then the game starts throwing stuff at you that you can't defeat. Monsters go from having 15 shields and 30 hps to 70 shields and 40 hps. Monsters suddenly show up w/ 300 HPs. So stupid. Fix the power scaling in your game!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Extremely Repetitive Experience I couldn’t finish this one; Each exploration feels extremely similar and started to get pretty dull. I played 7 different Derelicts on the hardcore mode and there was hardly any difference outside of a few character interactions and the amount of square area each ship encompasses. I couldn't imagine having to go through again on another playthrough. On top of this you rarely feel like there is much at risk. It’s very easy to get back to the central hub safely…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My favourite turn-based dungeon crawler after Darkest Dungeon. I don't get why this only has a mostly postive rating, as for me it's a total gem. You create your party of three from various scavenger classes, then go out and map derelict spaceships, fighting pirates and aliens and looting everything in sight. The combat and card mechanics really work for me, and I love obsessing over my equipment and skill trees (which is where your cards for combat come from) to end up with a fun deck and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR: worth it on sale for non-deck users, you might enjoy it. For Steam deck owners, avoid due to QOL issues. 1) I certainly don’t recommend this for the steam deck as of 2026. The controls are fine, but you cannot easily see buffs, debuffs, and environmental issues on the deck, making tactical choices at the later levels difficult. I’m giving up on my most recent run because I walked into a battle at no health for reasons that have something to do with poison or radiation, but I can’t…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have tried and tried with this game over the years, uninstalling and reinstalling over and over in the hopes that this time it will stick. That is because it looks like it'd be great if I could just get into it, but for whatever reason it just does not click. The UI is a little bit unfriendly, but nothing dramatic. The fights and dungeon generations are both quite heavy on RNG due to a little bit of a balancing issue from one attack/card/enemy to another. Certainly has a power creep element…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →FINAL VERDICT NUMBERS GO BRRR!!! A rogue-like procedural RPG that relies on increasing the number values - HP, damage resistance, armour, etc. - of its enemies to simulate increasing difficulty. After finishing an hour long combat doing 5 to 10 damage per attack to an enemy with 200 hp, I was presented a choice between 2 different options with no explanation as to what either entailed. Apparently I chose the wrong one because the enemy respawned at full health. I asked myself, “is this making…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game hoping for a "darkest dungeon in space" experience, but was disappointed early on and it didn't get better. The animations are nice, but that's about it. I started once and played halfway through, but got too bored and canceled that run. Around maybe 1-2 years later I tried it again and finished, but with a similarly bad experience. - the fights are boring and monotonous, mostly too easy and if you randomly lose one you can just reload and probably win next time. No…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thought I was signing up for Slay the Spire meets Darkest Dungeon in space. I was immediately bombarded with a bizarre, buggy, and extremely cluttered UI. Calling it Roguelike is a bit misleading, it just has some procedurally generated levels. Calling it a card battler is misleading as its just sort of weird equipment giving you semi random attack and defend moves. UI also fails to explain way to much stuff. While it is weird to complain about content/options there is just a massive amount…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It offers 15-20h gameplay. It is fine but there are way better deckbuilders. Also the game can be very buggy. I got stuck and had to restart multiple times. Inventory management and crafting don't feel great. Midgame was fun but the game wasn't very exciting overall. 6/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: Great art style, cool setting and story, cool soundtrack and some pretty cool deck-building mechanics. Cons: Difficulty spike after level 5 + RNG = pure frustration.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a decent game but lots (and I mean: a LOT) of bugs. Some of them are realy frustrating. Bought it at 85% off and I am not sure I can recommend it even at this price
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Reminiscent of Darkest Dungeon with its own vibe and interesting mechanics. The character customization was pretty interesting as well, a bit more in-depth (which I prefer) than DD. I thought my team was unbeatable but I was quickly humbled as I approached the endgame!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't play many card RPGs, so perhaps that was part of the issue, but I found this game extremely repetitive. There comes a point for each of the derelicts where I've levelled up beyond it, and the battles just become a tedious sequence of picking random cards because any of them can do the job. I found the difficulty scaling absolutely horrible. About halfway through ( lv 7) the game went from stupidly easy to near impossible. I found myself returning to base after each encounter to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have to start with my biggest gripe: The "quests" and "encounters" are so poorly written that it pulled me completely out of the game. You have this amazing art putting you into the theme of a team salvaging from space wrecks, and then you turn the corner and run into a random NPC asking you if you can deliver a message to their friend (who is also wandering around the ship for no reason). Why are they there? The game hasnt thought about this? They are just regurgitating fetch quest dialoug…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played on Steam Deck. This game is alright but I wouldn't recommend it. The systems are functional, but the elements that make up the whole are lacking. I enjoy dungeon crawling, deck battling, and rpg elements like the character stats and item trading, but none of them hooked me here.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →terrible game, needs more polish and the style of exploration/traversing the map doesn't build fun/excitement. Felt tedious and uninteresting. Disappointed at the battle, could've added some animations n such. Overall feels like an alpha sales pitch.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is basically a straightforward rogue-lite deck-builder game. I would only get it on discount, but it's worth at least one play through. I could be wrong, but I don't think there is enough variety to warrant more than a couple of playthroughs at most. The most interesting aspect of the game is building your deck for your weapons and deciding on the skills/attributes. The biggest downside would be that the combat eventually starts to become monotonous towards the end.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent tactical game with card usage. Visuals and characters are great. Gameplay is contextual and looks like this: first move around map using scanner, you can either search environment in some cases or begin battle when landing on tile with encounter. Battle is turn based and you can use ability cards for each character or use boost to draw another 2 cards but drain 100 energy. When energy runs out it's game over so make sure to get back to starting point on time. On some tiles you can…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I picked up Deep Sky Derelicts on a deep discount, and I do not regret it. Think of it as Darkest Dungeon in space with the art style of Forgive Me Father. Compared to Darkest Dungeon, it doesn't have a stress mechanic, but it does come with extra rambling dialogue from random machines. Sometimes it isn't entirely clear what your dialogue options are or what they will trigger. The game has a "magic find" element that requires you to make multiple runs to improve your gear before you can…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is ok, but only when I consider this game is an old school normal turn based game. Most of the additional content they add, I feel like they only do half of it. - Game has few classes, like Darkest Dungeon, you can hire 3 mercenaries as your desired team. BUT you only have 3 slots. So if you want to test other team combo? Dismiss. Change back to previous team? Find and hire again, costing more money to re-train their abilities. - Classes are made poorly. The only difference between them is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great fun that supports short play sessions or longer deep dives. Love the art style and music. A perfect easy to learn, hard to master title. Hope to see more from this dev and franchise.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun deckbuilder with a good amount of progression, challenge, and novelty throughout the game. A little frustrating until you get the resource management elements nailed, but overall worth playing. Wonderful artwork!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Looking forward to seeing it. Is this game a sequel to Deep Sky Derelicts?
unlabelledView post →I'd ALMOST have liked to give this one a positive review, but despite a cool atmosphere and 'darkest dungeon in space' aesthetic, I just can't in good conscience say anything nice about this one as there are far, far too many bugs for me to ever suggest this game to even people I hate. You'd think that something with such a simple design (and especially a card battler) wouldn't really have any bugs, so to speak, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ it does, and they're all the worst sort of bugs as well- the ones…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'll start by giving you the short version. Would I recommend you buy this game? No. Not even at an incredibly reduced price. It's not worth your time or money. The game isn't without it's good points. It has a beautiful comicbook style and dark space aesthetic. The setup is good, and the customization is very interesting to start with. The problem lays in everything after the early parts of the game. Mid-to-late game things turn into a slog. The gameplay loop rapidly loses its lustre, and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game! I didn't feel like it became grindy by the end, though three things I really wished for was to be able to have a bigger shop, since the trader is kinda limited, have more upgrades (I had everything at max at about level 6) and most importantly: For the love of God, why can't you hire more guys? Can I really only have 3 guys at the same time??? Why can't I add them as back-up to my roster? I mean sure, you can dismiss old guys, and hire new ones, retrain them and stuff, but it's such…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very buggy, and crashes constantly. very bad or non existing QA for this one This scammer company wont refund a purchase of a broken game, with blocker bugs with no workaround, constant crashes and system hangs! DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was going to give it a good review until the game glitched on me and cost me my entire run on the last level. I was on the mothership, accidentally got caught in a fight that killed 2 of my 3 crew because I was trying to head back to the station, and when I went to reload the game glitched and made the menu and pda buttons grayed out and unusable. I had to exit the game via steam and when I went to reload after that the game had saved my gamestate as having still lost those two fully leveled…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Deep Sky Derelicts is one of those games where it's very difficult to review because there's something to it, but other factors just put it out of reach of being a great value game for gamers. The idea is that you scavenge derelict spaceships in space (fine), and the way you do it is via a rather tabletop-like boardgame/cardgame experience. Scan and move around a little grid that represents the interior of the derelict, and then let RNG decide if you win or lose. Although this decision…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR: pretty solid deck-building dungeon-crawler with great replayability and build flexibility. Wall of text version: I came for art style and space exploration, but expected a half-baked mess of a game, given the reviews. I did encounter a couple of minor bugs, but nothing too bad. I also expected Darkest Dungeon, but what I got was more like Halcyon 6 (+ some Slay the Spire or SteamWorld Quest). For me it is a pleasant surprize. It is a relatively chill game (does not mean easy) with…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of those games where you're thrown into a pretty complicated system with a clear goal and have to stumble your way through it until you learn how do it right. You enter a tile-based map, explore/loot as much as you can, suffer through turn-based combat until your team is nearly wiped out, manage to escape safely, recover your resources, buy persistent upgrades, and repeat this until the map is cleared and a harder one is available. The pacing of the game expects you to figure this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's often not clear what each effect does. Interface is also often bad e.g. you can't select enemy that you want or you need to be pixel perfect to do that. Game is super easy at beginning, you just go flawesly through enemies and suddenly instead of 2-3 enemies you have 5 and this time your cards are rubbish, so you just die. Those types of mechanics are something I really don't like in the games.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game looked fine but stuck at very beginning of first mission due a BUG that prevents moving and can be fixed only by restart the game... (it actually worked) 8 years after release, sorry, I dont care how good it can be (or how much more frustration bugs brings). Going to refund.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've completed the game in around 20 hours, doing most of the quests. Just a single team. To be honest it was my second attempt - first time I started the game and ditched it, but after many, many months I decided to give it a go again - and it clicked. It's not overstaying it's welcome, the enemy and biome variety is just enough to keep it fun and maintain steady progression. This game is sometimes compared with Darkest Dungeon but it's nowehere near DD's difficulty. It's fun, short, knows…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just beat Deep Sky Derelicts and definitely recommend this game - especially if you enjoy deck building and turn-based battlers. Ever since Slay the Spire I've been addicted to deck building games and Deep Sky Derelicts is one of the more unique ones I've played so far. You have a crew of up to 3 team members and each can have their own specialty. For example, my team consisted of: Leader + Bruiser + Technician. I found this combination particularly powerful because the Leader had many support…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While this game is a good deckbuilder, the fact is that it's full of bugs that make it frustrating to play so it's absolutely not worth the time, especially if you plan to unlock all achievements as there are 2 quests so bugged that they can take ages to be come up in the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not worth buying, especially after playing darkest dungeon
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sci-Fi version of the Darkest Dungeon, I hope there will be more content, but enough for now!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A solid deckbuilder game What this game is: This is a good deck-builder game with a space theme, some RPG elements, and OK game mechanics. How does it work? You are a scavenger making a living by recovering material from space derelicts and junk. You are hired to find a legendary mothership with advanced technology by the governor of a system linked to the Mirror Worlds. You are offered citizenship in the Mirror Worlds if you accept the mission to find the location of the fabled…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Deep Sky Derelicts" ultimately falls short due to its frustrating gameplay mechanics. Battles often feel like a coin toss; you either steamroll your enemies or get steamrolled yourself, with little room for strategy in between. Every action consumes energy, making the best strategy simply to out-DPS foes rather than engage in tactical gameplay. The game forces you into a relentless cycle of item management that detracts from exploration and combat, reminiscent of "Escape from Tarkov." In…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Darkest Dungeon in space. Nice story if you are able to read and an enjoyable based-turned combat and team building for your 6 different available classes to play. The hub feels like a comfy place and it is pretty much intuitive to use with a couple not so good things, like inventory. Currently on my second run to try all of the classes out and still enjoying it after 40+hours. IMO, it deserves the buy on a full price if you like turn-based combat games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First time I played the game, I didn't get very far or knew what I was doing or what was going on. Reading a few getting-started guides helped me a lot, if you are having problems getting into this game, I highly recommend doing some reading. That said, once i got into it, I had a hard time putting it down, very nice deck builder sci-fi game, keeping me hooked to fully explore all the 'dungeons' (which are derelict space ships in this game). Graphics, music and sound all fit the game perfectly.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's really nice rogue-like game, the art style is just great. Game loop is a bit repetative and becomes a little bit boring after you figure out the build, but the process of figuring out and difficulty spikes bring some challenge. There is not much of a storytelling, but the general background vibe is fabalous. And rare encounters are fun to read and I even felt touched sometimes. I would say, storytelling has kind of naive but deep vibe, just like soviet sci-fi. I like DSD and I hope it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you love party-based cRPGs, turn-based combat and Sci-Fi, you'd enjoy this game as I did. Combat is executed through cards, but it's not a trading / collectible card game - you do not "unlock" cards or decks, there's no deck management in the usual sense, neither do you duel your opponents (as you would in Nowhere Prophet). Neither is it a roguelike - you can freely save and load (using multiple slots) anywhere outside of combat, which means you don't need to grind over and over again from…
