I was going to write a detailed, proper review but eh, forget it. Do I recommend this? Depends. Do you love resource management? Turn based battles that eventually become extremely tedious and repetitive yet you can't stop because you need more loot? Do you love the idea you would have to start all over from scratch if you died? Yeah this is for you. Now do you hate what I just said? Yeah not for you. Also if you're going to be a child about the "old school" graphics, yeah forget it. Because…

I almost feel like a traitor by leaving a negative review on this game but I really can’t recommend it. This game has so much of what I like in a game. A mix of survival management and sandbox adventuring with a zombie apocalypse theme: everything meant to make me an addict. This game claims to be inspired by This War of Mine, Darkest Dungeon, Fallout and Walking Dead: I’m a fan of all of these and, clearly, the creators of this game are too. The mix of all these inspirations is not even…

22 hours for nothing my lord ♥♥♥♥ is brutal Every zombie crit on my main guy with full hp, time to restart. I really liked DA1 so I wishlisted and bought this on release, but everything about this game feels boring There are no stakes, I care about none of these people. In the original, you are fighting to protect and improve your own camp, and deeply care about your party members. I couldn't give less of a ♥♥♥♥ about Leonardo or whoever else just happened upon my camp. They are nothing but a…

Dead Age 2 is a turn based battler with pseudo strategy/rpg elements. Pros: + For its price, it can be considered an accomplishment as much as a mediocre flash game. Cons: - Repetitive and slow combat. (And no auto-resolve) - Mindless grind. - Ugly UI, ugly fonts and ugly 2d art. - Low variety on everything. - Boring. - Below average sound design. - Boring story. Final: 3/10 After 9 hours i gave up and silenced the completionist in me due to mindless grind and boredom game threw me. Has low…

The short: This game is a messy passion project, whose charm is undone by several crippling game design mistakes. Although some elements are done well, as in cooking there's just no getting past the rotten elements. Not recommended. The long: This is a legitimately fascinating cautionary tale of cart-before-the-horse game design philosophy. This is a video game which is a video game first, and everything other artistic element (plot, dialogue, player interaction, atmosphere) is crudely warped…

The combat gets tedious after a while. And the vast majority of the game is combat. The game gets tedious after a while. This should be 10hrs but instead somehow I have 20+ hrs on record and I never finished the game. But this wasn't because I wasnt going to finish but I couldnt because I ran into a game breaking bug. The game also has this nonsensical repetition mechanic that when you die the game starts over and some of your stats carry over. It is not enjoyable in the slightest. Also the…

The Good Survival aspects are fun. Your camp must feed and drink. You must make hard decisions to allocate resources to either food, defense, or outfitting your going-out crew. The Bad Combat is slow and boring. Selecting attacks and targets is extremely cumbersome requiring multiple clicks through slow menus. The Grind. Everything has a cost and you can only find a little bit of each ingredient as you trudge through each location. Final Thoughts Dead Age 2 is not…

Dead Age 2 does some things right and I want to enjoy it... but I don't. There's too many enemy encounters. It's fine at first... but it gets very time consuming and mind numbing. Rinse & repeat etc etc etc... It gives me that "at work" feeling. Working to achieve a goal but not having fun doing it. Part of the reason might be the story. There's not much and so far its been very bland and gamey. None of characters get enough screen time to make me care about them. Another part might be the…

The game is fun, up until the story starts progressing rapidly... at which point the obnoxiously high "random encounter" rate becomes grueling, and grating on the nerves. I really can't even describe how friggen annoying it is when the quest forces you to visit several HQ's in a row (one's I've already been to 20+ times) [Apparently radios stop working for stupid stuff] and have 10 random encounters. Random encounters are just time and resource sinks. If you're using ammo, it'll cost you…

I am editing this since within 24 hours of the first review not only was my issue fixed, but the dev was kind enough to respond to let me know. Dead Age 2 is a very fun zombie survival/turn based RPG that will provide you with hours of entertainment if you enjoy the turn based old school RPG format. The game improves on practically everything the first game did. A great sequel by dev's who obviously care very much about their game.

Not enjoyable for me. Resources are so hard to find and so easy to use that I personally found myself just dying alot. It seems this is the theme of the game since you then pick upgrades to restart the game. I personally find this frustrating having to begin again from the very beginning of the game only to redo several quests I had already done. There is no save option so plan to play hardcore mode every play through. You make a mistake and hours of playing has to be repeated.

Pretty fun for a while, but gets boring and repetitive fast. The balance isn't particularly good. Seems pointless to start with ranged weapons skills since bullets are so hard to come by at first. Pretty shallow overall. And the UI is frustrating. Like how in some cases the TAB key backs out instead of the ESC key, etc. Note: I played the first one too and for around the same amount of hours. Both interesting but since it's only ya or nay here (I'd give it a 6 out of 10 otherwise). It's not…

I first discovered "Dead Age" on the XBox. I sunk quite a few hours into the game, really enjoying the fresh take on a genre that has seen some bloat over the years. I liked it so much I got it for my computer and invested another 25 to 30 hours or so. Needless to say when the sequel dropped, I was quite excited. When it first came out I didn't invest too much time, just enough to sate my excitement. From the developer's posts I knew they were going to make several updates so I waited…

More of the same from Dead Age 1. But nearly everything is improved, there is more exploration, more quests, better story, 3 factions to interact with, shops, base building, crafting and what's the most fun, tons of loot and turn based combat. I still recommend starting with first game before this one because in part two you will meet and interact with nearly 15 npc/survivors from first game. Game is also often on sale for like 5 bucks. I had funn in my 55h and there is still hardcore mode left…

Really fun game, and big improvement over the first one. Graphics improved a lot, the characters, the zombies, the animals, very detailed and polished. Now you can see the equipment on your survivors, when you change their gear. Also, the UI is cleaner and more understandable while maintaining that cool "notebook look". The new base is great, with the fallout shelter style. And the different environments while exploring are gorgeous and very detailed. The new animated portraits are also…

It has some good ideas. But the combat is just so bad. It says it wants to be like so many good combat games, and then manages to make something just underwhelming. The zombies almost always have a ranged attack, so it makes your gun feel pointless. Just close the distance and bash them down to save expensive ammo.

The game is such a disappointment in so many ways. 3/10 From the very start of the game, it will have your eyes rolling, with frustration and laughing in pity at the direction the writing/story took, instead of having a well-stocked base and/or several members who know what they are doing. You are placed with a bunch of scrubs who can barely wipe their own behinds. In fact, if the RNG turns against you, you might only have two members who actually do anything, cause Jack apparently lost all…

While I like the looting and survival aspects of the game, I can't recommend the tedious amount of combat you have to go through. I'm on day 10 (the in-game time) and I've already had to face at least MINIMUM ~100 combat scenarios. Combat is slow and time consuming, and cannot be skipped. The game also requires you to move to the same outpost SEVERAL times. Which means you have to trudge through a lot of zombies and more combat, and at this point I'm already bored of fighting the same enemies.…

Quick and honest review (non-biased): This is a hardcore zombie survival RPG with lots of elements put into one game. It is a game where you manage a base, explore for supplies, help survivors, and work with factions. With that said, you are presented with lots of options to choose from on a daily basis. In this kind of game, every choice does in fact matter. That is pretty much the jist of the game. Why I am not recommending it (biased): The game just feels really unbalanced and it is…

This is an excellent turn-based RPG! I played the first one, and I find this sequel slightly better—mainly thanks to the new map-based travel system. Aside from that, the differences between the two games aren't major. If you enjoy strategic, turn-based gameplay, this title is definitely worth your time. Don't expect flashy visuals—the graphics are intentionally minimalistic. The hardcore mode suited me perfectly, especially as someone with experience in turn-based RPGs. I appreciated the…

Very good RPG with incredible depth in most aspects that matter, even decisions you make during quests affect you heavily down the line, which is a system a lot of modern RPG games are lacking. Has a very addictive gameplay loop identical to This War of Mine but with far more engaging combat, and benefits immensely from future planning. Survivors can be good at combat or good at jobs in your base, but not both. So it is important to build upon their existing strengths, trying to be a jack of…

All in all I'm loving it as a hardcore zombie fan. Just never gets old for me. My only criticisms would be 1. Game dialogue is rife with typos and bad grammar. 2. Ah, Dead Age 2 is back with vengeance! It is what store page says, but is it really? Again, we have "turn based finial fantasy combat perma death" without bigger changes in format from Dead Age 1. Combat did get some rework as well as camp management, but it was far too complicated for it's own good. However, there's a great quality increased compared to the previous game. I actually really enjoyed the very first game. Dead Age 1: Had a lot going for it, I loved it. And I was truly quite excited for the sequel. This franchise truly isn't quite for everyone. It's quite repetitive, It can be a little clunky. But there are honestly many things to love. Especially if you are into old-school games. Because the main gameplay is: Turn-Based. It could be a good game combat is interesting, lots of skills, base building seems good, just a lot of confusing party systems. I died and started another run and one of the main NPCs was just missing and no way to add anyone else to my party so I was stuck with two and there's no way that will turn out good. I explored as much of the map as it would let me and there were areas that require Faction Points with various groups to get any further. In Dead Age 2 I'd say the story can be a bit rough at times, it has good ideas but I don't think the author has quite perfected dialogue yet. It seems like devs didn't even BOTHER to have ANY type of QA testing for this on various resolutions cuz if they had they would have seen that it's impossible to read the story or play the actual game with all sorts of menus and clunk UI sitting over top of each other on a 3840x1080 resolution. On the one hand, this is the good jank. It's cobbled together from (what I presume are) unity store assets from the first game, and there's a bigger scope and some slightly more polished mechanics, but it's still the same small-numbers-and-resource-management zombie survival jrpg as Dead Age 1. Turn based strategy, zombie survival, and choices matter. If you like these you will like this game. Big fan of the first game and this one is great too.
