positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cultures - Northland, actually "Journey to Northland", a game from 2002-2003, now on steam. It started quite calm. No setting options in Menu and only Fullscreen, well thats fine. But don't you dare to minimize the game, or else the half screen of the game turns green/purple. So we first spend 1-3 hours researching how to turn the game into borderless window mode, to find out what we actually could do: Go: Library -> Cultures - Northland -> Manage -> Browse Local Files -> Saves -> in this…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Brilliant, underrated game. This was my first game ever played. I perfectly remember how amazing the simulation and the city building was. Not even Settlers had the intricacies that Cultures has. This is presumably the 2'nd game in the Cultures series although not shown explicitly anywhere. I did not find the original around, unless taking the GOG version. This is the ultimate society simulation and city building strategy game. People live, work, die - of old age, hunger. Each person has a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game i played in my childhood, My English and logic wasnt enough to complete the campaing. Now i bought the game and completed the campaing. What a game, it really feels good building your village and keeping your villagers happy. It took 22 hours to complete campaing.I enjoyed and worth every second of it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't know why but half the title screen is in weird colours like green and purple and the other half is flickering black and white.......................................... what?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There’s something timeless about managing a small Viking village and watching it grow from a few huts into a thriving, living settlement ⚒️. Every worker, every building, and every resource feels important — part of a delicate system that rewards patience and planning 🌾. What makes the experience special is how personal it feels; you don’t just command faceless units, you guide individuals with names, families, and routines. The calm pacing, detailed animations, and gentle music create an…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a certified hood classic
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Way too fiddly to be enjoyable. I really tried to like this game. The setting is nice, the controls are okay, and the graphics cute. This game steals so much from Settlers that it's good by default. The equipment options are nice, but outfitting every individual soldier with three or four items takes way too much time. It can take half an hour to outfit your army, at which point they are all hungry and/or sleepy, and you curse the game for not implementing a "feed all" button. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cultures... is it you know? worth the buy? I'm honestly conflicted here. Even though the price seem to be justifying the game... The game itself isn't much of a fun. It can get tedious real quick and the AI is boring most of the time, and sometimes it feels there's WAY too much micromanaging in this game to even relax for a moment. I don't find the game itself much fun as it felt like a chore. It's sad because this game was clearly made with love behind it. Unfortunately I cannot recommend it.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game and childhood memory! So simple but so good ;)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This isn't about the game it's about steam. Buggy mess took my computer hostage everytime I play just becouse It crashes everytime I close the game and Steam can't handle that connundrum. I wan't to pirate gog version now. Buy Gog version don't buy this horrible Steam port the game is awesome.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My old time favourite! I play many and a quite long time with this game in my childhood, and I'm still love it. Building produce chains, organise the production of food, other tools and recources. The drawed textures are beautyful and because of the 2D environbent it takes quite low requiements.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is so old that i can barely play on my pc. There is no game settings, the music is bad and repetitive so its annoying. If you want to feel a game that is similar to that, that works and that is actually entertaining, look for Age of Empires (P.S: ive only played for the trading cards)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are some old time gamer who liked Settlers and Anno series but somehow missed this one, then Cultures is for you. This is an absolute childhood classic for me. I played the game when I was ten and I din't understand it becauso of its complexity.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Men are listed as whatever their job is (if all fails, civilian) - and women's job description is always "woman". That's sexist as hell, and don't tell me that's how things were in hunter-gatherer societies, because there's proof that in many groups, work (including hunting) was equally shared. Not interested to play games like that.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What could have been a fun Viking strategy game turns into a miserable chore thanks to utterly broken pathfinding. Your villagers constantly drop what they are doing, get stuck on random terrain, and starve to death right next to a full warehouse. The economy system makes zero sense half the time, leaving you staring at the screen wondering why nobody is working. Do yourself a favor and skip this frustrating mess.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TOP TIER RTS !!! I got this for 0,74€ and its far better than all that unplayable ♥♥♥♥ that is even 50x more expensive, that came out last decade. its very much like Settlers 4 or strategy in style of Stronghold Crusader, same or EVEN MORE COMPLEX yea its quite a lot of work to build functional city with military production -nice music -nice graphics, game looks quite cute -bit hard to learn and control but at least you can do lot of stuff in this game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →clasic game from childhood, if you grow up in 90s, this is game for you. casual play can stay and watch build city and citizens going about their buisnes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really loved how nostalgic this game is as I was playing this back in 2000s. Although there's a lot of issues (i.e., crashing when minimizing the game, no feed all button, etc.) considering it's an old game, I am amazed at how was this game made on the early start of the century. Definitely will always play this with my siblings especially those multiplayer modes. Really hoping we could have the Cultures 2 - The Gates of Asgard on Steam.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game offers same fun and gameplay as the 8th wonder of the world but it also has the same bugs. the moment i alt+tab to do something on my desktop the game screen cuts in two parts with mixed up colors. With all that, the game still fun and enjoyable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is really nice however there are few bugs that's really furstrating. Builders will say there is no bricks even though he is standing over 10 bricks and there are 20 more in storage. Control is also different than most similar games. I enjoyed the game but I will not recommend it due to bugs
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved to play the old Cultures (Vinland) a lot. It was easy to play, intuitive and offered a lot of fun. So I thought I'll try this one. The tutorials already gave me the creeps. In one suddenly the workers decided to stand right next to wood and tell me that they can't work, because they didn't have wood. okay, so I started another one. Trading. So worked out until the trading flour with the saracens started. I was supposed to trade 5 flour. Why does he load only two and then stop? I moved…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I guess it used to be a good city builder rts. But the Steam version has too many technical issues on Windows 10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A dreadful UI. Meanwhile, micro-management games require a great UI.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cultures: Northland may have had fewer features than some of the later entries, but it still had a fantastic atmosphere and very enjoyable settlement building. The game could easily keep you hooked for hours and still has its charm even today. Highly recommended for fans of classic strategy games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cultures – Northland, developed by Funatics Software and published by Daedalic Entertainment, is a deep and methodical strategy and city-building game that places players in the role of a Norse leader guiding a small community through settlement, expansion, and survival. It builds on the mechanics of its predecessors, combining detailed economic simulation with elements of exploration and role-playing. Set in a mythological Viking world touched by the presence of gods like Loki and Thor, the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic. An entertaining RTS of the ''old'' variety. Nice retro graphics, an exciting campaign and an atmospheric soundtrack. Brings back the old days smoothly. Even if the ''A.I.'' is sometimes very peculiar. But there is one downside to this: when I play the game, I suddenly feel so old. xD
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cultures 3, стратегия от немецких разработчиков. Ценится среди тех, кто в свое время в нее поиграл.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cultures - Northland is an ancient game from 2002. It's a whopping 21 years old at the time of this review. The game lacks proper widescreen aspect ratio support (it's locked at 4:3) or support for any modern gaming display resolutions, hasn't been modernised or updated to run smoothly on modern gaming PCs. Despite this lack of modernisation, it carries a pretty high price tag for such an ancient game. This seems to have been put on Steam as a nostalgia gouge. This is the third of the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a 10/10 RTS. Pure nostalgia and lots of throwbacks to my childhood :) Can legit suck you in for hours be careful of that.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This has not aged well

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game (called "Wyprawa na Północ" in the Polish translation we had) was one of my very favourites when I was little for a reason. I was ecstatic when I found out it came out on Steam as I lost the original cd somewhere a long time ago. It was incredibly fun to revisit it - it has really aged incredibly well. The campaign mode is pretty easy to beat when you are an adult but still fun to do, and it's just challenging enough for a child - if you are wondering if it's a good game for your…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Possibly the comfiest RTS game of all time. Been playing it since 2005 and i dont regret any second spent on it. Incredibly fun and suprisingly deep if you're into it. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not very good. Gameplay is meager, and the interface is poor. Not my cup of tea.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →so i really like these types of game and at first the game was fun but then i started seeing the flaws. ridiculously stupid AI - cannot find resources that are right there. scout has mapped every single corner of the map which was annoying as hell and still guys kept getting lost while standing right next to the sign the scout has put up. The combat is wonky. The campaigns seem difficult - i have tried a few and didnt really managed much. Honestly i did spend a few hours playing the free map…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a solid 9/10 -Pros; -Amazing music -Amazing art style -Amazing gameplay -Funny voice acting -Easy to learn -Cons; -When you tab out and come back to the game, your game hits the bong and you get a purple screen Overall this game is a good purchase as it was in the store for a shocking 39 pence!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game unfortunately has not aged well, all heroes are pixel size and incapable of automation. you have to tell them everything.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gameplay: 4/10 Graphics: 4/10 Sound: 6/10 Story: 6/10 Replay/Value: 4/10 Overall: 4.8/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Old is Gold Very Good Game The best Game i like to play
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's cultures. Very fun and beautiful game. Cons: most of the time you will have to be baby sitting merchants, miners and carriers.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Slightly complicated mechanics and the tutorial could use a tiny bit of tweaking, but once I got the hang of it, its very fun. Lots of building and organizing, gathering and some battling. Happily, the battling can be avoided in some cases so I can enjoy just the city building aspect and exploration if I wish. Overall this is well worth the price and has many hours of fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too stuffy a game for 2026. Instead of global planning, you spend 90% of your time sending a specific Viking to eat or sleep. The pace is snail-like, the interface is overloaded, constant crashes and no Russian language. Only suitable for fans of the series, nostalgic for their childhood.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cultures - Northland Pros: 🏔️ Rich Historical Setting I think Cultures - Northland offers a rich historical setting that immerses you in the Viking era. The attention to detail in recreating this period is impressive and adds depth to the gameplay. 🏔️⚔️ 🧩 Engaging City-Building The city-building aspect is engaging and offers plenty of strategic depth. Managing resources, constructing buildings, and expanding your settlement are all satisfying tasks. 🏙️🛠️ 🎨 Charming Graphics The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good game plus you can alttab now :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The whole cultures series is part of my childhood. Northland and 8th world wonder are really good. You don't even have to focus that hard on military, it gives you a soothing atmosphere to chill with your vikings. You can choose to rush the mission and story or you can build up an economy that works perfectly. Sometimes you get the pack with both games for only 2-3€ Too bad "Cultures 1" and "Cultures 2" are not on steam.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Comfy" is how this game was described to me, and I would say it fits. This is a city builder with an RTS attached. Gather basic resources to make buildings to house and feed your vikings, as well as produce secondary objects to make them more efficient at their jobs, build more advanced buildings, trade with other villages, and recruit and equip an army. The process is fairly enjoyable to watch; the graphics hold up fairly well for their era and provide a certain amount of charm to the…
