60 of 191 · most liked firstThis is honestly one of the worst games I've played. I have not enjoyed a single mission, so far. And most of them were infuriating, which is why I am not playing this any more. Nothing good has come out of it in the first half, so I doubt any good will come now. There are three main points I want to emphasize, the last of which is really what made me drop the game. First, it suffers from the same problems as older D&D based RPGs like Baldur's Gate; second, it suffers from the same problem as…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nope - when the first real mission is running away from 20+ guards, and getting rolls that prevent you in fact getting away. And failing to do this 3 times - and this is the start of the game, and I am having to play on easy. I can't stand games where it is almost impossible to enjoy because they have created ♥♥♥♥ tactics. Overall, this game is just a feature of frustration, not balanced, and not interesting enough to care about.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good game! Pros: + Very interesting characters with tremendous personalities. Cassia, Faramud and Takate are amazing characters. + Very good storyline with choices. + Talking with different characters at your camp feels very personal and interesting. This game has outstanding voice acting. + Tactical battles with large number of units. + Amazing music. Absolutely loved it. Cons: - Character development is rather simple and straightforward. Not very deep or broad. I highly recommend this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Looks terrible by today's standards. Got bored pretty quickly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Blackguards 2 is a more combat-focus version of Blackguards 1. While BG 1 was an RNG fest, BG2 removed so many of the annoying RNG and made strategical plays and puzzle stages a lot more common. Boss fights have you running around trying to abuse the stage hazard to the fullest to win. Certain stages will force you to complete objectives and leave or face infinite spawns unlike the old one where you can kill EVERYTHING except for one stage where you run away from the poison. Outside of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very weird game. The game is exactly the same as the first one, minus the character creation part, instead you get to roleplay a character you know nothing about without any guidance. Speaking of Blackguards, the no guidance part is nothing new, but in this one it's very unclear if what you're doing is resulting in good or bad "karma". The main issue here is that this game is not a continuation of the story that finished in the previous game, it just picks up at a random point far in the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Frustrating... …and not relaxing, challenging, or enjoyable! I usually like games with turn based strategic battles, but definitely not this one! It seems that there is often only one way to win a battle, and you have to figure it out somehow. This means that you have to play some fights over and over again to perhaps find the only solution!? This is exactly what increases the further you progress in the game..., in my eyes absolutly frustrating and not fun (Example fights... “Marwans Attack”…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →not recommended as it starts with cut scene where someone murders a cat and then throws its dead body out of the window. Valve, are you checking games you sell in your store? is it OK with you to have such sick products? developers are sick perverts who can't make decent game so they try to attract people with slaughtered cats instead. if go past that cut scene you'll discover same old Unity game that can't perform. wouldn't play this garbage even if I'll have no other games available.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Alright buddy you got two option here: - you can be a Saint (sainte) or you can be a Grinch (grunch)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a decent sequel, although essentially very little has changed, and it feels more like a large-scale DLC than a full-fledged second part.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You know what stinks? Even at $1.00 I was debating on a recommend or not. Because Blackguards 2 is pretty much nothing but heavily flawed. But for what I paid, knowing it goes on sale like that, how much I liked the concepts of the story, and knowing it had bugs and problems going in ehhhhhhhh fine. I recommend under those circumstances. Can you cheese maps with magic that became overpowered to make up for the first game being a little lackluster with it? Yes. Does the game throw random…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its not fun. Blackguards had charm and it was difficult at the start then got easier when you got certain abilities but had me scanning the internet for a walkthrough to get me through certain battles that you could only win with rng. I had fun and completed the game. Blackguards 2 is not an improvement on the original. Got so far then had to restart as the build I was building did not work. I float through some fights then the difficulty spikes so hard I can not progress. I think mage and…

There is also a 2-space wide corridor and a mission objective that tells you to gather your troops behind these guards. After 40 minutes of guard beating with a funny-looking pile of corpses, I aborted the mission and immediately uninstalled the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a hell of a lot better than the first one. I ignored this until recently because I hated how the first one played out in such a limited fashion. This is better than it in all ways. Too bad this isnt what the general consensus of the players wanted and we'll prob never see a 3. Its worth a pick up if if you like srpgs, and a lot better than the first.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish I could give this a good rating but so many of these encounters so poorly designed. I love turn based strategy but this is just terrible.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The strugglebus rides again! Corrupt saves, crashes, and broken mechanics ruin this game. The plot and play would be awesome as Pen & Paper, but sadly does not translate well to the digital format. Oh ... and I finished this game in the time played. Just under three hours.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got this and the entire series and all the DLCs on sale for 99 cents. I missed this franchise, so decided to give it a try besides the mixed reviews, for 99 cents, what could I lose ?!?! Well, this is a very well made indie fantasy cRPG, I must say. I really like the hex-based maps, turn-based game-play and crisp, clean graphics, even by today's standards (5 years later). Ya, it's not D&D, but it's not too bad either. Plus you can have just huge parties, up to 20, when most cRPGs only…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Blackguards 2 is a more combat-focus version of Blackguards 1 Tactical battles with turn-based moves highly recommend this game if you are a fan of squad based turn based tactical battles games or if you are a fan of an amazing story, tremendous characters
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great game! I absolutely love Blackguards, actually liked the first game better but I'll take as many Blackguards as they put out there. I wish there were more of them. The story line is well done, the characters have very distinctive traits and personalities, the voicing is excellent. The strategy is challenging, trying to figure out what skills will benefit me in the long run is a bit difficult but certainly doable. There are many to choose from. Only problem I really had was…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Blackguard 2 is the same Hexagon tiled SLG like the 1st series. Blackguard 1 is more like an experiment ground for the dev on combining a Pen & Paper rules on a SLG (Tactic) game, which ended up pretty messy and a lot are unfixed up to nowadays. Blackguard 2 improves a lot of the flaws in Blackguard 1 making this sequel more to the normal SLG games we get out there with actual conquering and such... but, they didn't go all out on the change, so it still felt unpolished and just like Blackguard…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed the first Blackguards. I'm giving up on this one. Too many secret triggers, like when you have to move to stop the infinite flow of enemies. Some all-or-nothing moments where you need to have just the right build. The first one had a few things like this, but this one is worse. The battles tend to be bigger and take longer, which is great, except for the part where it's hard to tell which hexes are poison and which aren't... so you can totally screw yourself near the end…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just plain bad: slow, irritating game play, odd difficulty choices and a tutorial that barely shows you anything useful. I didn't get beyond the first post-tutorial level but that was plenty to show that there's almost nothing in this game that I find bearable, let alone good.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first 3 hours of this game is a scripted walk through. Once you get past that, the map opens up offering alternate paths. The battle maps are isometric with little room to maneuver. Some scenarios require recon by replay. Weapon and armour stats are a little cryptic and require research. I thought the game had 360 degree camera rotation. The video I watched looked like it did. But no, its isometric with some pitch control. My bad for not researching it more. I would have never got this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Compared to Blackguards 1, on hard difficulty it is much more easier and if battle seems unwinnable you can only blame your tactics instead of RNG like in Blackguards 1. Story could be more detailed but at least it allows you to make choices which will affect endgame. Cons of Blackguards 2 is less options with character customizations than in Blackguards 1 and some quests bug which might prevent you from getting Saint achievment.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, that was weird. I posted a short review of Blackguards 2 on Steam, pointing out that if you love cats, the intro makes it a game you should avoid. Some guy left an insulting reply... and then sent me a Steam friend request? [blocked]
unlabelledView post →Do you love cats? Skip the opening cinematic. The use of the killing of a cat as an inciting incident for the game was enough to put me off it completely.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Blackguards 2 is a dark fantasy tactical RPG built around calculated turn-based combat, party development, and a campaign in which ambition is often more important than heroism. Developed and published by Daedalic Entertainment, it returns to the world of Aventuria with a noticeably grim tone and a protagonist who is willing to make questionable choices to achieve her goals. The game is especially suited to players who enjoy methodical battles where positioning, preparation, and understanding…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Scam, it looks like a DLC of the first one with a new game mode
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Linear SRPG but with plenty of cool features that open up as you go, making the game feel more expansive. Really cool (but dark) writing and dialogue too, and some interesting characters overall. And combat is SWEET, very fun to utilize what's on offer there. Overall really good stuff, enjoying it!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great tactical combat game. Most combats involve a number of elements that make them interesting such as prisoners to free, doors to open, traps to avoid (or set for your enemies), etc. Exploration is trimmed to the bare minimum and you move from combat zone to town-interface to combat zone etc. This makes it more of a tactical combat game and less of an RPG, but there is a story and the characters are interesting so it fills an interesting niche.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i bought it for trading cards & i stayed cuz of gameplay
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved it. Superior gameplay to the first game with great story. I just wish there was a way to speed up turns.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game has solid gameplay mechanics and a good story, but the reason I can't recommend it is simply, there are many missions where the objective after winning the battle is too escape, but the game gives no indication at all as to where you actually need to take your units for it to count as escaping, had to re-do or take forever rotating all my surviving units to every corner of a map just to try to find with part of it counts as the escape zone.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Blackguards 2 is a huge improvement over the 1st game I hated the first one so I figured I'd hate this one as well but turns out this one's actually ok and I would recommend on sale for cheap. The first game had a lot of problems such as spells having a chance to fail EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU USED THEM so you could simple lose a battle from that (because failing a aoe spell or a heal could very much mean life or death and you have a VERY HIGH chance to fail) however in this game they removed that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed playing this game, since I played the first one and like the world of The Dark Eye. It does not make it easy, because you are not able to create your own character and to be frank, the main character (Cassia) is pretty hard to really like. Cassia is cruel, mad and megalomanic. Sure, she has a horrible backstory, but she is still hard to like. I prefered the first game for the story, the roleplay, the journey and so on. This game has easier battles that seem more streamlined. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nah man, even at 99% off this aint it. feels like playing some cheap mobile game, for real lol
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played a PC game yesterday that I've never played before. It started with the stylised murder of a cat. I now despise this game (Blackguards 2) with every fibre of my being.
unlabelledView post →Blackguards 2 leans even further into what the series does best: turn-based tactical combat. Again, there’s a narrative framework and progression system, but this is not an RPG where your choices significantly reshape the story. It’s more a tactical game wearing RPG clothing. The combat remains deliberate and challenging, with improved structure and better control over your party. It doesn’t modernize the formula, but it refines it enough to stay engaging for players who care more about…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice combat system, and a fun story let down by some of the worst encounter design I've ever encountered in the genre. Awful fights where you need to smash crystals that heal all enemies to full health each round, battles where you need to move quickly while enemies with seemingly endless MP constantly spam debuffs that slow you down, infinitely respawning enemies, it's frustrating and tedious. if you know what spells to take (pro tip - the level 4 - remove all magic effects from everybody +…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They took everything away from this game which made Blackguards 1 interesting and challenging. I won't say it's bad or terrible but I don't know why it felt dull and uninteresting. Story-wise the game is okay but it lacks the quirky and funny interactions that the first part had among your party members. And that was one of the selling points of Blackguards 1. If you have already played the first game and finished it, then I'm pretty sure you already know what I'm talking about. The first…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good sequel. Blackguards 2 5/10 Heisen
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Продолжение, где избавились от условностей настолки (вероятность попадания) и больеш укренились в сторону экшена. Хорошо. В целом прикольно, но слепили как-то быстро — всего за год.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Already knew what to expect after Blackguards 1. This is similar in all the bad ways: Unfair combat (don't know how else to describe it), endless reinforcements for enemies but not for you AND, the biggest killer of fun, nonexistent flexibility in battle. The last point makes character development, levelling up and buying new gear feel inconsequential. Ending with PROS: - Main character Cassia, only saved by good writing, as many people still would have preferred to make their own character as…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unplayable. Freezes 15 minutes into the game during load screen. Every time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was a bit on the fence about this but I guess it deserves a thumbs up. I'd say it's a shaky 7/10. The game has a pretty good, if mostly, straight forward story. The combat is fun with a lot of different abilities to choose from, (although a couple of them are pretty powerful and you really need them) but half of the time I was a bit confused about the objectives in each battle. They should really have put a lot more time in to explaining what you were supposed to do (and why) in each battle.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You Germans make weird games
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game that thinks unfair and unmanageable odds masquerade as "difficulty" instead of irritating. Don't bother with it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game had the potential to be really good. There is a good game buried underneath it. Mechanically, I really enjoy it. It's a simplified version of the first game, which I think is a good thing. The tactical combat feels good, character advancement feels good, the story is good, the consolidated tutors and whole camp mechanic feel good. The added mercenaries are good. There is so much good! And then it all falls apart, as you get deeper into the game, because of level design. I appreciate…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a good team grid tactics game. Has some balance issues, but it fixed a lot of the annoying things in the first game. Biggest weakness is probably the army v army fights that start happening in endgame, where there are 50v50 teamfights that take forever to slog though. Unless you use the one global damage spell and trivalize it. Couple of achievements are bugged too, sadly.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: Mercenaries make battles way easier even with more enemies than original Magic makes battles easier Lots of cool stuff you can do Cons: Puzzle missions can be pretty annoying, no way to remember win conditions if you forgot (they sometimes say in dailog), Fourth mission (Dwarf running) can be a headache. If not using a magic, battles will be harder. Unclear why interrogations fail sometimes
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Imagine Divinity, but it's somehow much, much slower and has 200% more jank. I haven't had a single bit of fun yet and there are other games I could play, I can't recommend this one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is excruciatingly frustrating to wait for each enemy to make their turn, and there is no option to speedup the animations. I didn't even get out of the tutorial dungeon before quitting. This game seriously needs an option to speedup the animations.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was awesome. All the negative reviews are from people who are try-hard sweaty incels who jerk off to JRPG turn based games. Never was a fan, this game made me a fan. I dont see whats wrong with it. It was genuinely fun. Just a fun ass game play it for a handful of hours beat it. Well spent 2$ . . , edit: big difference with this game i think was the size of the map. most of these games are just flat squares. moving your heroes away or into a better position never seemed like it did…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are looking for turn based, party building, RPG gameplay then you will not be dissapointed at this price point. Is it perfect? no. The graphics are nothing to write home about, the characters are lovable and their commentary is well written but there is very little of it overall. If you are more into the gameplay than the fluff this game will serve you well for what it costs today. Want something new and shiny? look elsewhere.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a downgrade to the previous game. You are forced to play maps where there are 4 or more healcristalls and leaver and stuff. Its more of a puzzle RPG then a strategy RPG After nearly 9 Hours i didnt want to play this anymore its only the 0.99 cents worth i spend on it
