Kristen Stewart is actually great in this as an intense, jittery fangirl. But good god, give Viggo Mortensen a throat lozenges, that's too much coughing

A small but rewarding movie, even more so cause of the details ( the art scene, the empty and decaying European city setting) like how it’s entirely possible Kristen Stewart’s character just deputized herself bathroom monitor and there’s no actual authority there

positive · AI labelView post →this movie rules btw. I think Videodrome and Crimes Of The Future are still my favorite Cronenbergs but this is such a different movie from either of them, I love it.

So in David Cronenburg's 2022 film Crimes of the Future surgery is referred to as the New Sex, which is funny in this instance because of the new genitals you installed, which could also b

negative · AI labelView post →The original film titled Crimes of the Future, made in 1970, is just an hour of a dude walking around in brutalist architecture whispering and licking spray foam off people's toes.
neutral · AI labelView post →This is basically the plot of the the body horror movie "Crimes of the Future" where humans modify themselves to be able to eat the "new food" that is readily available, plastic waste. It is not meant to be hopeful. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14549466/

The combination of Trump's MAGA and the decisions of the Roberts Supreme Court, and Desantis' Concentration Camp and this movie have really done a number on my head. youtu.be/yrd8biRzhSo?...

neutral · AI labelView post →or for another example, consider Crimes of the Future. the thesis of that movie is basically "the mutants will inherit the earth, baseline human biology is obsolete, and we should celebrate this because the alternative is death and stagnation" it's unsettling but it's extremely hopeful
positive · AI labelView post →Watched Cronenber's Crimes of the Future (the 2022 one) If the 1970's film was confusing and disturbing, this one was more explicit and disgusting, but less disturbing. That was VERY good! There are SO MANY parallels to pick from this one, from bodily autonomy to the evolution of bodies
positive · AI labelView post →My wife and I hyped ourselves up to see Crimes of the Future by reading Cannes reviews that were like “everyone was screaming and vomiting in the aisles. Several people died of fright. To witness this film disfigures the soul,” I think they might just get babies to write these things

positive · AI labelView post →Observations from staying up til 2am playing more METROID PRIME 4: 1) Somebody at Retro Studios is clearly a fan of David Cronenberg’s CRIMES OF THE FUTURE, as evidenced by the surgery beds and tools pulled straight from that movie. I dig it.
neutral · AI labelView post →I watched even more Cronenberg last night, and why am I just now finding out that he's making body horror again? Crimes of the Future is full on weird for the whole runtime. A glorious return to form after the History of Violence through Maps to the Stars "normal movie" run.

It's a subgenera that is often sexual as a fundamental element of the horrors of humanity. Movies like The Substance and Crimes of the Future both harness sexuality as horror-

positive · AI labelView post →Crimes of the Future by Cronenberg is one my favorite "science fiction body horror movies" by this director and in general; which had no cultural impact whatsoever, thus making this movie far more personal to the few that appreciate it.
positive · AI labelView post →Currently watching Crimes of the Future from David Cronenberg. Even by Cronenberg standards, this is a bizarre movie. I have a feeling that it is going to take multiple viewings to determine if I like it or not……just like most of his filmography.
