He worked on ‘Cossacks 2’ and ‘S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky’. His talent lives on in a game dedicated to Ukraine’s defenders. Heroes never die. 🇺🇦 #Ukraine #STALKER2

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →All My Ex-Girlfriends Hate This Game (and Championship Manager) Played this game for over a decade, from my early teens into my twenties. Lost girlfriends, missed birthdays, forgot anniversaries...because I was deep in a siege or building up my settlements. They said I had a problem. I say I had priorities. They left. Cossacks stayed. Unfortunately, this game doesn’t always play nice with modern hardware, bugs and crashes pop up like rebellious peasants. But it’s still one of the best…

I had a lot of issues with story tropes in the game, as I have with the book and also Cyberpunk. Still I found parts of W3 revolutionary back then, and played 400 hours being my favorite part the Cossacks DLC.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is great if you're looking for something like Age of Empires but way bigger and more epic. You can have thousands of units and epic battles. On the downside, a lot of micromanagement. The AI is good for opponents but not for the player. Combined with the micromanaging and the game is a rat race, constant chasing of one's own tail. Despite this, game is amazingly top notch everywhere else. Some might disagree about the AI. Is the AI good? YES. It plays very smart. But a human mind, with…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't leave reviews on games very often, but Cossacks is a childhood game of mine. For context, I was born in 2001. I remember when my uncle showed me the game and taught me how to play it. I was 7 years old at the time, and I fell in love. I remember even getting in trouble one time for skipping basketball practice just so I could play it. It was a CD copy at the time. A couple of years later, my brother and I would get an old COMPAQ computer from the mid-90s, and the only thing we ever…

unlabelledView post →Great game! The enemy AI is very basic, repeats the same patterns all the time, and your soldiers are absolutely brainless, so you must keep an eye on all of them; But still - absolutely one of my RTS favourites. And thanks to the timeless isometric visualls it's aging gracefully :) Edit: About 100 hours later, I must say - this game is dangerously addicting, one afternoon I just wanted to see if it works on my new pc, and then when I finally lifted my ass from the chair it was already…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't be fooled by the description! It says it contain ALL the content from previous games. Well, it doesn't contain ANY campaigns. To my knowledge, that's content from the previous games. You have to buy a separate DLC to get the campaigns. If like me you're looking for playing single player, don't buy this. There's a package containing all the Cossaks before Cossaks 3, including the campaigns, buy that one instead.

unlabelledView post →Cossacks: Back to War is a classic real-time strategy game that harks back to the golden era of RTS titles, offering a robust and engaging experience centered on 17th and 18th-century European warfare. Developed by GSC Game World, the game is a standalone expansion of the original Cossacks: European Wars, expanding on its mechanics, content, and scope. For fans of historical strategy games that emphasize large-scale battles, resource management, and tactical depth, Back to War delivers an…

You can choose also many countries to play for the conquest mode. You are free to build buildings where you want if you have enough ressources. You can also play online with other real players. The graphisms are actually quiet good and the music is just awesome. I can't get tired off playing this game.

The game lacks support for any modern gaming display resolutions (or widescreen monitors), hasn't been modernised or updated to run smoothly on modern gaming PCs. Despite this lack of modernisation, it carries a pretty high price tag for such an ancient game. This seems to have been put on Steam as a nostalgia gouge, or just a cash grab to try profit from abandonware. Cossacks was…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To play the game on modern PCs, you need to copy a file to the game directory. You can find that file in the community tab. I played this game when I was a kid and at that time, the campaign seemed impossible to play. Not being able to understand English, I assumed it was my issue. But playing the game right now, I can tell you it wasn't. The campaign is extremely difficult and you can proceed only if you play the game with the IQ of 180 and play as the developers intended. Otherwise, you…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →🖥️ Cossacks: European Wars (2000) This is a must play for any classic RTS fan. Fondly remembered game in Europe, probably less so in the US. At the time, it was groundbreaking due to the sheer number of possible units on the map - you started small, but longer games would end up with huge armies.
unlabelledView post →At first, Game has a lot of errors. But after closing it and opening it for 2 times, Errors will be gone and game will run perfectly smooth without any issues. Gameplay is somehow complex. Not simple but it was awesome! Not boring and it will give you a thrilling feeling due to massive armies you can create. I highly suggest you do the tutorials first as this game needs a high IQ to understand. Very unique RTS yet cool at the same time. It's a YES for me :)
