But I can't recommend it because it's has a game-breaking bug and cannot be completed. One mission (20th so that's some waste of time until getting there) won't register that the airfield is demolsihed and the cover is anihilated (the playing field is empty of enemies, there's nothing to do) so you can't complete it. Until I see a resolution to this or they fix…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Back then, it was a good game. I played this a lot. The controlls and gameplay are really good, a good game. Unfortunately, graphics aged badly, what makes replaying it a cumbersome experience. On top of this, it doesn't run well on Windows 10.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very arcadey. Controls inexplicably change direction, pitch, and roll! The mission descriptions are very poorly written and the German taunts are truely terrible; why can I hear the German pilots anyway?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can recommend this game for everyone who wants to feel like a 2006 fighter pilot on Windows XP. But don't look at the details. You will be disappointed. I tell you why. In short: The Gameplay is very repetitive, there's barely no hit indicator until the enemies explode and German voice acting is ridiculous (yeah, I can tell because I'm German). The Mechanics feel wobbly, max. resolution is only available in 4:3, and you won't notice that you have set the graphics on maximum quality. And,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has not aged well at all, does not support wide screens. Would have been a great game...... back in 2002
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crashes with Runtime error. Not playable apparently on modern PCs.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →But it isn't just one fighting game. This unnecessary pushing of "fidelity" is a plague. Here. These are the system requirements for Ace Combat: Wings of Theve, which comes out in October. What do you MEAN that on the RECOMMENDED SPECS, that it's for Medium settings and MIGHT DROP FRAMES?!
unlabelledView post →It's a fun short game with pretty decent flying physics and all right controls. The fact that they managed to make plane fun to control is an achievement in itself as vast majority of games make it miserable. At times it felt too repetitive and there were not enough sections where you have to bomb targets, but overall it is a fine enough game. 7/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →13 hours of perfection later, and my time with Ace Combat: Wings of Theve is over 🥲 This marks the 22nd game I've finished this year! It's beautiful, ambitious, and most importantly, fun. Please give it a chance; plus it has the best soundtrack in a game you'll hear all year.

Although some people couldn't run the game, but I think they just might be forgotten to enable DirectPlay feature before playing. By the way, when program asks you to install old version of Net Framework, you should refuse. My Net Framework is 4.8 version. It's fully compatible with the game. Pros: +A long history story with emotional speech.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Combat Wings - BoB A great aviation combat game at the time, many newer series Gen games are coming out and can picked up cheap on sale. This is very old, 13 years ago. I would pass on this one, its time has come and gone.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bit dissappointed with no Joystick Support
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this old game just to remind myself of the games I played during childhood. Slightly disappointed, the campaign was harder and longer as a child. 10/10 I can fly better than the French 10/10 my name is now Tommy

Propelled by strong combat and impressive presentation, it's the local co-op that steals the show #gaming #xbox360 #review 🔴 www.thepixelempire.net/dogfight-194...
unlabelledView post →For those of you who played Combat Wings (which lets you play USAAF), this title should be quite familiar... a mouse-controlled arcade-y flight shooter set in WW2 Battle of Britain. Every plane is a fighter-bomber, and carries rockets and bombs in addition to the gun. It appears the guns have infinite ammo, but can overheat, which is automatically fixed by letting it cool down. With multiple difficulty levels, and missions SOMEWHAT based on reality, you'll be racking up kills in no time, and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like this game. It reminded me of the old Lucasfilm Battle of Britain game from the 90s. Not too arcadie and still enjoyable. You get to progress to other planes during the war. The graphics are good for the age of this game. Controls handle nicely and the enemy is fair so not overpowering. Your AI friends do shoot down planes but not so many to take your glory. If you like those older 90s games and want to relive them, this is a good choice pick.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Forgot to review this when I played it but had a great night just shooting things in a really arcadey style. Yea the graphics are a bit dated but still worth a go as it was really just a cool game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Combat Wings: Battle of Britain - A game where you play as a new recruit and grow your combat skills by fighting in the war and defending your country. Mechanically it's a solid game where you lead your targets and it even gives you missile and bomb guide video feeds as you fire them. Great movement for the different planes where they all handle differently and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoy games like this so I'm very biased. Recommend this to anyone that likes playing in older…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow! I loved Dogfight 1942, but this is awful. Graphics look OK, but the controls are just terrible. Also, what's with the 4:3 aspect ratio? Even when you set the resolution to a 16:9 resolution like 1920 x 1080, the game plays in 4:3. Complete waste of money and I paid less the £1 in a sale. Avoid this trash like the plague.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First off, beware that this game may not work with some (but not all) windows 10 systems due to its age. Quite and enjoyable arcade experience. The storyline is surpisingly enjoyable, as you do face consequences for sloppy performance in one mission in the next and the development of the other pilots alongside you is also quite interesting. I thoroughly enjoy playing this game every once and a while and diving back into the enjoyment of this arcade game. Also, one last note. Machine guns go…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An arcade style flight game that is easy enough to control that a terrible pilot like myself can enjoy it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I collided with several enemy planes and we just froze in midair. The dialogue is very embarrassing. At least the Germans speak German - but why do you even hear them speaking. I shot down some German (and English) boats and after bumping into them without incident a few times I nosedived and sunk right into the sea and my commander yelled "congratulations" and I went to the next mission. These are the positives, btw
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game. So what if it´s arcadish? Important thing is that you get the feel of doing jobs that actually matter, apart from all that sci-fi, fantasy stuff we can hardly relate to. I´m getting tired of games that deem themselves too important, and unfailry difficult. This was a breath of fresh air in my gaming experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the actually good City Interactive games out there from that era. It felt right, and feels right now too. And now you can enjoy it in Full HD (possibly 4k, can't try that) with it's full glory! For widescreen, just use the patch from here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2962836728 There might be inconsistency because the full game made for 4:3 / 5:4 for some reason (video, some subtitle errors and "Mission Failed" screen), but it is what it is, still enjoyable!…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →actually fun, wish somebody fixed the crashing and the mouse going out of focus when having multiple displays.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an okay game, graphics are still okay and the controls are good. Sadly thes aspect ratio is set to 4:3 and can't be changed to 16:9. The dub is not that good, even a little bit annoying. My rating 6/10, recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →kurczę it's fun
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am confirming that my Logitech F310 Gamepad combined with good old Windows 7, works perfectly with Combat Wings: Battle of Britain. Surprisingly the manual and the game description does not mentions it's compatibility, and total customization. Simply access the menu settings and configure the controller to your preferences. It is important to note that the ground mission in which you are operating an AA gun mounted on a turret, that you must put all controls (gamepad) back to "default"…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The most bored dying pilots I've ever heard. All the Germans are still mad at their ex-boyfriend Tommy. Can't stop talking about him.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this could be a fun game...if i had rudder control
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR: A fun, arcadey flight game where you can dogfight, strafe, and bomb run the enemy in WWII. Taking place over Britain (imagine that!) in WWII, you fly various missions against the Germans in a variety of British planes. Graphics are decent and the game runs decently smooth which is important as you use a mouse and keyboard to fly in casual mode. There is a flight-sim mode, but I was looking for a fun arcade flight game, so I didn't try the flight-sim mode out. I've actually finished the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ugh. Secret Weapons over Normandy, this is not. No controller support that i could find. I played through three missions and saw what i needed to see. It's as difficult as pointing your mouse at a target and clicking. "Nice hit, or did you just get lucky?" x 11 per mission. "You make me laugh, tommy!" / "Learn to fly, tommy." x11 per mission. No...for $.99, maybe. Not $5.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The fact there is no controller support had me not even wanting to give this game a try. But after playing a couple missions... well... it's not half bad. I don't know if I would RECOMMEND it to people, but I gotta give it a thumbs up for the SIMPLE, OLD flight ARCADE it is. 5 Bucks is too much, though. It should be free... but at -82% (€0,89), it might just give you a bit of nostalgic fun for an hour or two.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You pilot a fighter plane for the British in world war II and battle against Germany. That's about all there is to the setting really. You won't really be playing this for the groundbreaking plot. Most missions involve you taking to the skies in one of a handful of fighters, to blow all the enemies you encounter out of the sky, and sometimes defend a target too. Dogfighting is pretty fun, but with the limited types of planes to use, weapons and enemies, things will get samey pretty quickly.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Disapointing as the advertisng blurd stated that players could use a joystick if they chose to, but there is no option in the game to use one! Feel a bit conned really.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Paid 80 cents for this when it was on sale and it was worth the 3 hours of fun I've had on it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought the game for less than a buck and got 4+ hrs of entertainment. Not bad, not bad at all. It's a fun arcade shooter, nothing more, nothing less.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great arcade style dogfighting game. The proper accents and radio chit-chat makes it feel like you are in the Battle of Britain movie! 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No Joystick option....only control is mouse!!!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Combat Wings: Battle of Britain is a World War II–themed aerial combat title developed by City Interactive that embraces the spirit of classic arcade flight games rather than aiming for strict historical simulation. Set during the iconic Battle of Britain, the game places players in the cockpits of legendary aircraft and tasks them with defending the skies against overwhelming enemy forces. Its design philosophy is firmly rooted in accessibility and fast-paced action, making it a nostalgic…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a childhood classic of mine. Controls are great, game looks great and the fast paced gameplay is amazing. There were some audio glitches once in a while but they would resolve themselves in just a few seconds, honestly they are iconic to me because same used to happen when I played it as a kid hahah. Overall It's definitely worth playing if you're a fan of some fast action!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was fun when it came out. I have good memories of some awesome dog fights. Don't know if it has held up to the test of time though. Maybe, but I don't care to even see for myself. ha
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great Dogfighter A very fun WWII dogfighting game the levels are all really good although some scenes are reused from time to time and the AI voice lines got repetitive fast 7/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →MalwareBytes detected a Neshtar.Virus.FileInfector.DDS in the file game.exe. Found this by looking for something totally unrelated - browser hijack. Funny that after the update, Malwarebytes no longer detects it. However, at Virustotal website, it was detected by 13 other anti-virus engines including Yandex and MaxSecure.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can't beat the price. Fun, great graphics, Some say no joy stick play. Not so, my xbox 360 controller works. If yours doesn't try setting it up in steam.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Old school, good stuff.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →yess, good like with ps2 graphics
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not as good as its sequel game but, good enough for its sale price and age. Only annoying part were the turret/anti-air missions, they seemed almost impossible despite shooting down all enemies.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →mind numbing gameplay, repetitive voice loops, no engaging story or characters. little reason in 2020 to play this imo.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Terrible game. Maybe played for 15 minutes. Uninstalled it. Awful!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pro: User defined levels of realism. Great price. Con: short game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No joke - it's actually not a bad game for the price. Like it doesn't look the best and it's not a flight sim. The gameplay is very arcade friendly. But for $5 you could do a lot worse. I did not really play it on the harder difficulties but I had fun. It would be better if there was more variety in the missions. Most have you kill 2-3 waves of enemy fighters and then the mission completes. It would have been nice if there were more ground target missions/themed missions based on the map you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like Dogfight 1942, this is the second game/prequel. Plays exactly like Dogfight 1942 but based around the Battle of Britain with 23 missions including two bonus missions. You start flying the Spitfire at Mission 8, one of the walkthrough says there is a bonus mission at mission 9 for playing spitfire, I never got it to activate. I have only gotten 2nd bonus mission to activate. The Campaign isn't too hard and it is beatable even without cheats. There is no need to play hardest…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Combat Wings: Battle of Britain is a far cry from the usual heavily-technical and highly-complex titles arising from the overlap of the flying simulator enthusiast and the Second World War reinactment-gamer. Surprisingly, CW:BoB takes an almost arcade-like approach to the concept, simplifying much of the controls and mechanics down to just the right amount to become easily approachable to those without prior experience with ‘typical’ serious flying simulations without the gameplay becoming a…
