Missions consist of destroying ground targets, taking out rival aircraft, protecting allies and picking up supplies. I found all the missions to be quite similar after a few rounds. The planes are incredibly easy to control, so you can start divebombing and doing flybys of every tower in no time. The bombs and rockets are a little more difficult to use than the machine guns. I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun arcadey flight sim. It's more of an XBL-arcade-tier indie title than a full-fledged flight sim, which is good because I'm terrible at flight sims. The planes seem kinda the same, the missions are uninspired, but if you want to fly around and blow stuff up, this does the trick.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Air Conflicts: Secret Wars is a mixed bag of things, but mostly an arcade sim with a decent (though hyperbolic) story wrapped around it. You play a female protagonist named DeeDee who, being a pilot smuggler gets caught up into World War II. And she serves with a man who personally flew and fought with her father in World War One. As the missions progress, the story unfolds through static cut scenes that have a pleasant cell shaded hand drawn look. Missions vary from stealthy strike missions to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a bad game for what you pay for it. The graphics are what you pay for, not overly great, but we have a shortage of flying games out right now so you roll with what you got, until we can get a AAA title published.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Begins slowly and starts to pick up speed when the story progresses. Unfortunately this game also illustrates very well why action flight sims are a niche product: half-way through the game difficulty suddenly jumps a lot and every missions becomes a grinding bore. You destroy more planes than rambo kills people and you still fail missions. and those tight time limits... Good buy from a bundle anyways. Just dont pay full price on this!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crashes on load on modern OS versions. Keep away.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fairly enjoyable game despite its age. I am yet to complete chapter 1 - the siege of tobruk, have flown 3-5 missions and am having fun so far. I am playing with an xbox 360 type wired controller-gamepad in arcade control mode so idk how it would feel on keyboard. There is also a controller simulation mode available which offers greater control. I recommend using a controller for this game. You play as DeeDee an independent pilot who works as smuggler and similar flight related odd jobs now…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not exactly a high quality AAA title, lacks very basic settings you should now expect from any PC game, resolution settings at the very least, but sadly, nothing, so you are forced to play in a square box at some pretty poor looking models. The game play itself is pretty solid, I assume this is very basic flight simulator stuff though, taking off and landing is very easy, it takes a lot for you to stall your plane. There is a wide selection of different planes to choose from at the start of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a bad game. The graphics are pleasant and the controls are smooth. However, as the game was released more than 10 years ago, it has all the problems of older games. The radar doesn't work and there are issues with running it in good quality, but these can be solved with the help of the community. Apparently, this is not the most popular part of the Air Conflicts game series, so there isn't much information about it. Overall, I didn't think I would enjoy the game and get hooked enough to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Felt like playing a game with my ancient flight stick which had been sitting in the closet for over a decade, Air Conflicts: Secret Wars seemed like a good candidate. So I installed, and went ahead and beat the whole game in a few days. I found the game fun, with a wide variety of air craft once you unlock them. I only used the "Arcade" control method, because "Simulation" was just beyond me. The game lets you pick the difficulty to fly each mission at, and I'd recommend going at it at the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My game crashed after being shot down by Nazi's and then a massive boom then crash to desktop. 10 out of 10 will crash again : )
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Everybody likes being a combat pilot. Even Joe Cool himself enjoys fighting Red Baron from time to time. Unfortunately, not everybody's dedicated enough to learn how to play all those complicated simulators, which also require buying some extra controllers. That's where arcade-style games come in. And the trick with them is to make everybody happy. Simulation fans should be able to relax a bit and get some basic, but addicting fun, while those who can't enjoy complicated games should feel just…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The single-player is kind of boring. It's a long game and becomes very repetitive. The story feels like an endless lamentation about the players long lost father. It sucks. Astonishingly the multi-player is very good. Multi-Player is a lot of fun and surprisingly addictive. I played it a lot. Unfortunately all multi-player achievements are broken. If you only care for multi-player and do not mind the bugged achievements the game deserves a recommendation. But since I prefer single-player over…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm about 10 missions in and enjoying it. Its definitly an arcade flight sim but I like it that way, the more realistic flight sims get, the more I suck at them, lol. I use the mouse controlls and have no problem. Graphics for me are nice and smooth on my medium quality PC and the music is good. I recommend for the casual flight sim player and if your the hardcore type its good popcorn fun if nothing else.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is called Secret Wars, but i cant find Dr. Doom or Galactus anywhere. Great arcadey style flying game anyway. 8/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like combat part of game, i like planes, but: who the f,,,,k is responsible for dialogues and picking the actors???!!! This womans voice is killing my patience, its boring with wierd tone even in combat situations..blehhh 6/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an arcade style flight sim with a focus on fun. The game looks great, damage models look nice and being it is an arcade game, the planes handle very easy. There are a number of different campaigns and a good variety of aircraft to fly. Going in for a bombing run and strafing enemy infantry as they scatter away from the tank you are about to destroy is very satisfying and looks great. If you want a fun flight sim without all the complexity and learning curve, and something you can just…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →103) Air Conflicts: Secret Wars Dogfight wasn’t the only 360 aerial combat game on the backlog. This one ended being really fun as well. This one felt bigger in scale and most of the missions were fun to go through. The campaign also has an interesting story #justbeatit @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
unlabelledView post →now the game might be really nice and good but the with the fact it cant be played on newer rigs and legit is missing files is just ashame, so now all i have is a game that wont work which i want to play.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Air Conflicts: Secret War is a sequel of the original Air Conflicts from 2006. It is an arcade turn-and-burn WW2 flight game with some interesting story line rarely covered in WW2 games: the Balkan conflict, and how the resistance in Poland, Azerbaijan, and other eastern European countries fought the Nazi invasion. You play the daughter of a WW1 Ace, "Deedee" as you attempt to work your way out of Africa into Eastern Europe, attempting to work your way through the war, as sort of a mercenary /…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An enjoyable WW2 combat flight sim. Nothing mind blowing, but with a decent amount of planes to choose from, decent combat and just a little bit of RPG mechanics thrown in provides a fun arcade style flight experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Blew up tiger tanks with machine guns. 99/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good game even though it is from 2011. Great graphics and gameplay.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No way to change controls too bad for the game where keys are crusial
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game overall if you approach it as being an over-the-top rambo mobile port. If you're expecting ace combat you'll be disappointed. AA snipes, friendlies do nothing, all enemies target you, and heavy bombers can do barrel rolls (But the player cannot) But the story is nice, the characters were memorable, and I actually had a good amount of fun. It's very short though at only ~8 hours for a playthrough. But that means it's perfect to knock out in one sitting.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My Overall Game Rating: 6 / 10 Negatives: -Lack of options to set the game. -Not too enjoyable to play and not too boring. It's just "meh"...kind of game. -Some missions are repetitive to play in the long run. -Crashes at times.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hardended female pilot with a proper war hero background. - CHECK Good arcade air combat. - CHECK Multiplayer for dogfights - CHECK (not without hackers unfortunately :() Good singleplayer story - CHECK Many different WWII aircrafts - CHECK Well... It's a nice game at all. You can play it with a joystick, with controller or with mouse and keyboard. There is an "Arcade" option or a "Simulation" option for all input devices. The "Arcade" option is easier to handle, but the "Simulation" option…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While this game might've been good at one point right now it's BROKEN it's impossible to get past even the first mission without the game crashing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this for hours on the non-Steam version just days before this review but it's only 2 regions completed in a total of 12 missions. Difficulty Levels ACSW has 4 difficulty levels with respect to AI - Rookie, Pilot, Veteran and Ace. The differences, well i'm not entirely sure, i played mostly on Ace with occasional dip to Veteran and Pilot. What i can tell though is this, beside the obvious AI flying and shooting skills, the degree of aiming assists for you the player varies greatly…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I actually enjoyed this game. An arcade WWI and WWII plane shooter!! Works best with a controller!! Take on german planes and tanks!!! Graphics are good for its time. Nice small details in the city and Online still ACTIVE!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A simple, arcade air combat game, not for flight sim fans. Good for some fun in between playing other games. Suggest you get it during one of the sales.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a suprising refresher. There are better arcade air combat games out there, but not many. There's defintiely better air combat sims , so if you are looking for a sim style game go else where. This one does offer excellent arcade style air combat. The good: Fun easy to pick up game play. Tons of single player missions that vary in length. Nice mission variety. its got top secret jets in ww 2! the bad Story seems implausible at times. The main character is a woman (no offence ladies)…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →THIS GAME DOES NOT WORK WELL
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beware! Buggy sound, the game makes a noise like a dying mouse regardless of sound settings. Really irritating, ruins the game as it is too annoying to play. Probably a compatibility problem with Win8.1, would be nice to see this fixed, yet I have a feeling that will never happen since this game is so old. Bit of a shame.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Warning: Broken Game! The game does not launch on modern Windows versions. It crashes to desktop when starting any mission. The developer is aware of the issue and has taken no action to fix the problem or maintain their product. Air Conflicts: Secret Wars is an ancient, broken console game from 2011. It's a whopping 14 years old at the time of this review. The game lacks support for the typical features of modern gaming PCs, hasn't been modernised or updated to run smoothly on…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Air Conflicts: Secret Wars pros: fast game with modern day graphics with easy controls that moves from location A to B to C and so on, good amount of action and special effects, cons: some difficult battles. Some missions have some bugs. Sometimes the enemy can infinite spawn/respawn. some crashes. fix requires lowering settings and turning off post effect. keyboard controls are not rebindable. good game. Personal Suggested Purchase Price: $0.99 Or Less During Sale
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I actually really enjoyed playing this game. I used a gamepad to play it, and had no problems running it. Yes it is not a military sim, so if your into more arcadey type of games then this is pretty fun. The graphics are outdated by now but it's still plenty fun if you don't mind that.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simply one of the best WW2 Arcade flight games I've played (and I've played more than a few....) - The pics above do not do this game any justice believe me and if the Devs added a video of actual gameplay I'm sure they would sell far more copies. Use a Game Pad for a great flying experience - Story led linear mission progress about a rather strange female mercenary pilot & her friends flying various missions throughout the war, the ability to select different aircraft & replay missions…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this as part of the Air Conflicts Collection for around 3 bucks and didn't expect much. Then I played it and was shocked about how good this actually is. The story is good enough, the characters are charming and the voice acting is mostly pretty decent. You start of from a Whisky smuggler and slowly become a war hero while discovering what happened to your father in the war. The piloting is really good and you can level your skills to make it even smoother. There's also a bunch of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Old and clunky. Unless you grew up playing this I can't see why anyone would enjoy it in 2019 and onwards.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a surprisingly good game. The controls are very simple to pick up, and plane movement is pretty smooth. The story was interesting, which is rarely the case for these type of games. Air Conflicts - Secret Wars does have a few flaws though: 1. You cannot change the resolution via the Config menu. The menu appears cut off, with no way to view the save button. You will have to manually edit the game's config.ini file in the Steam folder to change it to the resolution you want. 2. Most…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Air Conflicts series is like Gin or Vodka. Some people will drink nothing but, others will spit them out as if acid were in their mouth. Air Conflicts: Secret Wars is an arcade shoot 'em up with a World War II dressing and a Visual Novel to accompany it. I don't want to ruin any of the story, so I'll keep this short and sweet. You play the role of the daughter of a famous air combat ace who must gather her strength and willpower to help the allies defeat the Nazis during World War II.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To those who give this a poor review, I have a hint: set the difficulty to "Ace" and set the controls to "Simulation". 90% of the time when watching videos of this game, I see people playing on lower difficulties in Arcade mode. When you do that, the plane turns in a perfect 90 degree turn, and your machine guns lock on to the enemy. No wonder this game got a bad impression. But if you set it to "Ace" and "Simulation", then this game will truly shine. It's on the same level as Ace Combat,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →you can beat this game in about 13 hours its alright I bought it in a steam bundle way back when, the story is interesting and its an arcade shooter its not bad but its not THE BEST. One thing you have to know is if you are in a mission and you die half way in you have to start all the way in the beginning so like maybe 5 or 10 minutes of hard work gone so keep that in mind. I want to give this game a maybe for new people on steam get it and enjoy for people like me with 600 plus games…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A solid fighter pilot sim with an OK storyline. Nice selection of planes to try out and some good action sequences in the air. Got a little bored before the last few missions but pushed through to complete what is essentially a good game. Give it a go.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Been one of my favourites as a single campaign. Would love to see more series like those
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Air Conflicts: Secret Wars is one of those games that are so obscure, id be surprised if anyone read this review. But as this was a childhood staple for me on the Xbox 360 way back in the day I thought id give it some words. Nostalgia bias aside, this game has definitely not aged well presentation wise, with mission briefings in comic sans font and spelling mistakes. And some missions are either filler and take two minutes to complete (smuggling runs). Or feel so utterly contrived it makes…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A crash-landed time capsule that weaponizes your nostalgia, its dated physics and Skinner-box mechanics proving humanity’s only flight is away from this digital meat grinder. 🛡️
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://youtu.be/bPCVjllAe4Q During the release year this would be a well realized air combat experience with strong story and mechanics, in 2024 the years have worn it down to a relic.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played this way back when it came out, but since I've got on steam, I decided to give it a go. The game is a fun arcade flight simulator, nothing too realistic which is good in my opinion, after all we all want to shoot tens of planes with ours without dying a dozen or so times. The campaign is surprisingly decent keeping you interested in it fro as long as it last, with a really good ending. There were some annoying parts mostly on stealth missions, but hey, nothing is perfect.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this for under a buck in a bundle. It wasn't worth it. The only positive thing I can say is it's better than Air Conflicts: Pacific Carriers. Bland story, poor graphics, repetitive gameplay do not a good game make. Reading this review offers about as much entertainment as this game would, which is obviously, not very much.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeah it's not the best but You'll get your money's worth
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Stupid unbelievable script and aweful stealth missions
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great arcade flying sim with an excellent array of weapons but laughable story and missions will get repetitive and stop making sense after a while.... But does it work? Yes it does Pros: -Excellent array of planes with weapons -Nice lengthy campaign that offers a nice variety to use the planes you've unlocked -Excellent handling of the planes and controls -Above average graphics Cons: -Terrible voice acting and accents. Stupid scripts and weird characters. Going back between ww1 and ww2 is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is what i call a arcade 3D flight game. Simple game mechanics. Simple player objectives. Simple graphics and sounds. Overall a simple, short & fun game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great little game for a few bucks ....help them out they seem yo be good programmers ... buy all of them,,, i do have trouble with my ch stk/peds just cant make them work but im sure they will
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a good story and compatible with Windows 10, but there is a drawback. The controls are terrible compare to Combat Wings. The good thing is this game has auto-aim, so you don't really have to aim directly onto the enemies. Do not play the hardest difficulty you will rage due to terrible controls. There are no achievements for playing the hardest mode. You will unlock all planes when you finish campaign. ACCESSING VIDEO SETTINGS AND CRASH FIX: Note: Apparently the default settings…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The phrase "arcade flight simulation" is an oxymoron.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's working on Windows 10, you just need to turn off the Steam Overlay. If you can withstand first hour of boring missions, you'll get very good WWII (WWI) airplane arcade shooter with variable missions, a story and light RPG elements. For €6 it's a steal. I have only one major problem with the game - bombs have almost no blast radius, so you need to be very precise with them (you can switch to rockets later in the game, they are much better).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really wish I could give a "so so". Why a no? Honestly, the game is decent. But alot of it can be confusing. Its not like Ace or WT to keep coming back. Never beat it and honestly wasn't driven to keep it going. Story was mediocre at best. Not really compelling. 5.0
