When it comes to platformers, the design ought to own whether or not it will be a twitchy, high-precision affair (e.g. Super Meat Boy), or more of a fluid, graceful romp (e.g. Dust: An Elysian Tail). Blood of the Werewolf can't quite figure out which of the two it wants to be, and the gameplay suffers for it. You're expected to make jumps and battle monsters with careful timing and accuracy, but the controls aren't responsive enough to support you in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you love 2D platformers and a challenge with decent storyline, I recommend playing this game. There are some difficult levels where you will die multiple times but you eventually get the hang of it. Battle is pretty straightforward and boss battles are pretty easy once you know their attack pattern. Overall, a pretty awesome game XD
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →4/5 If you like the genre, pick this game up for under 2 dollars, it’s worth it. Blood of the Werewolf is a great side-scroll platformer. You play as the mother of the last werewolf, and will transform between human and werewolf form as needed throughout the game. As you try your best to track down your kidnapped child, you are confronted with all sorts of classic macabre cameos. The game is full of difficult enemies and pitfalls; but you have an infinite number of lives and the game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Blood of the Werewolf is a game where you control a female werewolf called Selena. Her husband was brutally murdered and her son Nickolai was kidnapped by someone. Your mission is to guide Selena through the stages to get clues where her son is being held. During the stages you can collect Sigils that will increase your HP and also upgrades, that increase ammunition and power of the attacks. When you are in a closed place, you control Selena in her human form with a crossbow. If you are in a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Blood of the Werewolf is NOT unearthly good - but it's enjoyable, plus it's cheap so rather a fair deal The game certainly presents us with a challenge so we won't get bored - plus it offers some interesting mechanics and nice graphics. It's a well-crafted platformer, unfortunately, very craftsman-like - you can't see the developers' joy in making this game or anything, but you can spend a lot of time playing it + the number of achievements to do is overwhelming. Neither hot nor cold -…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game when it was on sale for 99 cents. For providing me with 5 hours of entertainment, i would say it definitely paid for itself. This is a simple no-stress pick-up-and-kill-some-time game that i'm glad i bought. Recommended for the right price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'll give the plot for this hardcore platformer as much attention as it merits - which is none. It's a mediocre load of old guff to justify running around as a woman who happens to be a werewolf, saddled with very poor voice acting that's mostly done by the developers themselves. Her husband has been murdered, her baby has been stolen, and she wants to get him back. As a woman she jumps and shoots her crossbow. When the game wants you to change into a werewolf you get a double jump and a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first I was "hey this game is pretty cool. A little basic looking but not bad." That was until I started getting frustrated with the crappy controls and the horrible level layouts. You have a level with multiple spinning flames and one reaches out of the map and you have to dodge that one while dodging the others that all seem to line up exactly when you need to jump through them. You're probably thinking that's not so bad but then on top of that you have an enemy throwing poison at you in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't give too many negative reviews, but I can't hold my tongue on this one... the game has potential. The art is pretty awesome, the soundtrack is great, the story is even enticing from what I've gathered so far. The real boner killer? The difficulty and damage system are completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Why so? This game is not Dark Souls, but feels like it is after a while. The puzzles are to hard and you can die several times because some random fire ball its you and pushes you back REALLY FAR for no…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A game that starts off as a promising platformer with an interesting concept and art style. But after the first boss, it suddenly evolves into a rage-inducing chaos that throws instant-kill traps and bullet sponge bosses at you like nothing else. This combined with the platforming sequences, that often require flawless timing and nearly pixel perfect jumps, and the unfairly placed save points, will make even hardcore platforming veterans quit in frustration. And even if you manage to get…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Despite the devs clearly putting effort in this game, I simply can't say the end result is very fun. Positives: - "Cinematics" are nice. - Bosses are pretty good. - Fun concept of switching between werewolf and human - Not a lot of distance between checkpoints. Negatives: - You can't really switch between human and werewolf form when you want. Game is designed around your inability to do so. - The platforming varies between difficult and outright frustrating. Enjoy platforming in which…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nicly themed platformer. Easy to master controls, nice power ups, and a good story.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was... ok but I wouldn't say it was great, just good. It was certainly challenging though. For those who love aggravating platformers, then this is certainly for you. For those of you who don't, I suggest finding another game. Its hard to trully enjoy the game when you spend most of the levels being frustrated half the time. The story was meh, it was really hard to really sympathize with the characters so the story kind of gets glossed over. I also didn't particularily enjoy the cliff…

unlabelledView post →My two main gripes with this game are: 1) The sometimes insane difficulty level. Sure, the game autosaves pretty often, but replaying the same stretch of a level 20 to 30 times gets real old real fast. 2) The very platformy feel of the game. It really feels like someone just put together some of the levels to make a difficult challenge. That's okay in Super Mario, but in this game I feel it ruins the thematic aspects of the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →2D platformer in the style of classic Castlevania games. Difficult to the point of impossible at times, but with practice you can get through levels and boss fights. If you're not used to games challenging your skill and ability, and think games should just spoon feed you content just because you mashed buttons randomly, then move on, this game isn't for you. Everyone who's not afraid of a challenge should buy this thing ASAP, and remember the times when all games were challenging like this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I rarely write reviews for games, but the fact that Blood of the Werewolf has a mixed review rating is criminal. BotW is a spirital successor to action platformers of the NES/SNES era, especially Castlevania 1/3/4. I played through Castlevania 1/3/4 about 5 years ago for the first time and loved the brutally hard gameplay and the creative boss fights and lamented that there really aren't many more games in that genre to take on. While BotW isn't a straight clone of Castlevania--you're using…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Polished enough game however its just not fun to play. Many a cheap death throughout (especially in the latter half) which will require many replays to learn that results in tedious and repetitive gameplay. Version 2.0 added more modes that basically just asks you to replay those tedious and repetitive levels again... making it even more repetitive. Yawn.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Blood of the Werewolf feels a little schizophrenic, or at least, aiming for gameplay that its mechanics can't support IMO. It has levels and stats meant to encourage speed running and trying to 100% clear a level with the quickest time, but with the stiff controls between either human or werewolf form, you do not feel encouraged to do that because you cannot perform at your best. The werewolf form in particular, has a very awkward hitbox for both platforming and its attacks. The problem is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lately, I had been feeling like my relationship with Selena was one-sided. She was incredibly controlling and demanding. I just had no idea why every little thing had to be perfect or what right she had to be so judgey (I mean she wasn’t the best looking thing around and she was a bit of a bore). As demanding as she was, she was also really unresponsive. Being around her felt like a chore. It’s not like I didn’t like a challenge, I just want to feel rewarded too. Yeah, it was great that she…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great mechanics, tight controls, challenging levels, fun bosses, and good safepoints. You will die, you will say naughty words, but in the end you'll feel great. An allround rewarding game that gets you hooked really fast.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you love 2D platformers that provide a good challenge like me, then you should definitely check out this game. It's fun, addictive and you'll find hard levels that will give you such satisfaction when beating them. There are a few instances in the game that I feel were unfair, but that could be just me and there weren't many points in the game to ruin it. I love the artstyle they chose for this, the story is great and makes you want a sequel to this game, music is alright. It's either hit…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very pretty and polished platformer with an awesome cartoon-gothic vibe. The difficulty approaches Super Meat Boy level in spots, but there are enough checkpoints to alleviate any serious pain. It may be hard, but it never feels unfair; to the contrary, all levels and boss fights are consummately well-designed and the controls are very precise. Further, no asset is ever repeated to the point of tedium. There are tons of different enemies and hazards spread throughout so gameplay never…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Took several years after purchase before could actually play the game. While the game is alright and fairly 'fun' didn't get far before getting actually fed up with how things were designed. 1st. Got this cause it was advertised as a Metroidvania game. It is not. It is a speed runner platformer game puts your scores on a leader board every level. 2nd The placement of enemies is in a rather obnoxious placement of enemies makes this a uphill trail for those wanting to actually get a good score.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Odd difficulty. A bit glitchy in a lot of ways, especially near the end of the game. The game doesn't use the typical "introduce a new mechanic and then make the mechanic steadily more difficult", it just throws the mechanic at your face and tells you to figure it out. The game uses a health system, but a lot of things will just instant kill you despite it not seeming extremely dangerous. Small ball of spikes in the center of the room? Instant death. Touched the side of a spike a little bit?…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A mediocre, thematically inconsistent, platformer with poor level design and occasionally malfunctioning mechanics. It was just about worth what I paid for it, heavily discounted in a sale, but no more than that. Platformers aren't exactly uncommon on Steam, find a better one than this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yet another 2D platformer. You play as a woman who is also a werewolf, transitioning between the two forms as you run between indoor and outdoor locations. The different forms have different attacks and so on. That's where the novelty ends. This is an old, tired, dead genre. Adding another game to the burning pile doesn't help put the smouldering ashes of a genre out. Kudos for not taking the retro-pixel route, although the graphics aren't exactly winning any awards here. Controls are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Blood of the Werewolf Review Did you know, that there is no female equivalent of “werewolf”? We have mermen and mermaids, vampires and vampiresses, warlocks and witches but no feminine werewolf noun. I have thought about this for far too long and I propose they should be called “werebitches”, because it sounds totally badass. Right. Glad that’s sorted. Blood of the Werewolf is a 2D action platformer from indie developer Scientifically Proven, part Castlevania and part Super Meat Boy,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Blood of the werewolf is a indie platformer game where you take control of Selena a werewolf mother trying to avenge the death of his beloved and rescue his lost son. During the game at some sections you switch between human form wielding a crossbow , or wolf form with the ability to do double jumps and devastating claw attacks. You can find upgrades for both human and wolf forms in secret areas somewhat hard to find, you can tell when you're near but you don't know how to get there. Each level…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just saw this game was getting mixed reviews and had to set something straight. This isnt the best platformer on steam but for the price it is a fantastic one. Levels are fun and the diffuculty scales well. The art design is fantastic and if you enjoy hunting for achievements this game will give you countless hours. In short if you like platformers pick it up and for the money you could do a lot worse
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game has way, WAY too many instant death traps. Even with infinite lives, it's too hard.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think perhaps this game was not meant for me so I will not recommend it. However if you are one to look for a game to prove your platforming skills to the Nth degree, perhaps you will like this more. For me, the game has beautiful art, story, and music. The art side of the game is great. The problem with the game is that the level design around halfway through the game onwards goes from becoming difficult to almost spiteful. Playing the game I did not feel that the designers had intended me…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yea, no. Far better platformers out there that won't frustrate you to no end leaving you wondering if it was you, the controls, or the developer who screwed you over.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Personally, I cannot recommend this game: Positive: - The story seems okay - Animations are okay - Frequent check points Negative: - The difficulty of the platforms is a bit inconsistent. I found it that some of the platform are easy to pass through while others a frustrating - Experienced noticeable frame drops during some of the open platforming sections
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a stellar game but worth it for the 2 bucks they ask, just so you can see a better Shadow Of The Beast/Psygnosis (with a lot of splashes of OG Castlevania) platformer successor than the actual Shadow Of The Beast remake that Sony had the nerve to crap out.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I know there are mixed reviews on this game, but I am here to tell you now that it is DEFINITELY WORTH the mere $2 Steam charges for this game. I promised myself during the Summer Sale that I would gift this to anyone who said they liked challenging platformers. Although there is no sale, that did not deter me. 3 friends gifted and counting! Do you love challenging levels that require twitch reflexes, smart platforming, exploration, intelligent use of skills, and a sense of accomplishment once…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Worst Game I have ever played it is broken, it is boring and not worth the time or money
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →★★☆☆☆ it just a low budget one run game for plaformer lovers + platformer, some cross-references - budget style - short - bad money / quality rate
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The biggest problem Blood of the Werewolf has is a remarkably inconsistent sense of difficulty. It swings wildly from insultingly basic and easy run and gun platforming to unforgiving hair pulling insta-death obstacle courses. Its clear Blood is intended to pay homage to popular old NES platformers, but it ultimately fails to capture that magic. It never seems to find a proper balance in what its trying to do. As I said, playing the game is a yawnfest until you run into a maddeningly difficult…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a bad game but not a good game either. Almost everything in this game feels mediocre but I do appreciate the polish that went into it. Controls feel good but the levels design and platforming combat is pretty bland.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Blood of the Werewolf is a pretty hard jump ´n run. But a good one. The overall presentation is fun. You play a female Werewolf both in Human and Wolf Form and go on a hunting spree through 10 tricky levels. You will die often... very often. But you have unlimited continues. Also there are plenty autosave states. You can puzzle yourself through it. The game is sold for 4 Euro and you can pay there without hestitation. Even more if it´s on sale. Often for as low as one Euro.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →SO this game has a boss battle early on that spams poison... Fine. The problem is the poison continues to drain your health AFTER you beat the boss so guess who has to do this boss all over again? That's right, you. 2/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Impossible crushing blocks. Can't progress and repeating ad infinitum is not fun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Problematic design, unpolished controls, sloppy visual style, increasingly frustrating segments made worse by these flaws. If this game were a movie, it would be "The Fault in Our Hitbox." Because the hitboxes are bad and it is also cancer. edit: I wrote this review before finishing the game. Now that I've completed it, I am comfortable changing my review from "cancer" to "why the hell would you release a platforming game with unpolished movement and wonky hit detection and then pair it up…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I previously wrote a review thinking the game was okay, and was fun, plus had good graphics. All in all, I totally take my positive review back. **** this game. The mechanics stress you out just manouvering the character through tricky spots. Got this on sale, and there's no way in hell anyone should pay full price for this. Get ready to rage quit. A LOT.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Becomes punishingly difficult after level two. There is a certain part of the game where I died about 400 times in a row. I sat there for a hour just dying. I really wanted to play this game. But I just cannot recommend it. It's stupidly, sadistically difficult. My entire experience was the polar opposite of fun. I would rather stick my hand in a wood chipper.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun until you reach Level 3. From there on it's just unfair from start to finish and everything stacked against you with instant death scenarious all around. Frustrating instead of rewarding. Stopped playing there, i have better things to do with my time than waste it on ♥♥♥♥ level design. Congratulation, this game just entered my "to ♥♥♥♥♥♥ to care" Category
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →♥♥♥♥ the platforming mechanics on this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a GREAT little unerrated 2d platformer ignore the people saying the controls are bad if your decent at old school platformers you should adapt to them pretty quickly theyre quite smooth and responsive once you are used to them pretty good story and fun boss fights nice art style and generally solidly designed game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good, old-fashioned hard gameplay. Stop moaning wusses, this is easy for an early 90s games. Just learn patterns and persevere!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Anyone who seeks a challenging but rewarding platformer, rejoice, for you have found your game. Blood of the Werewolf is not for the faint of heart, it will test your skills throughout the entire game, and just as you begin to tell yourself "it can't get harder than this", well guess what bucko? It gets harder. This is not a casual game, it will demand prefection from you often, but if you are up to the challenge the game has a rewarding cycle of tension and release, and the controls are tight…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game reminds me so much of Castlevania I & 4 that if you're a fan of those game I know for sure you'll fall in love with this game as much as I have. The game is linear, you go through the stage and collect sigilis to gain more health and find the powerups hidden along the way. Selena's human and wolf form have 3 different special skills that get upgraded twice as well as two other upgrades for attack power. At the end of each sigil collecting stage is a boss battle. Also, if you miss any…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this as a gift and I don't play side scrollers often due to raging so much at Mario xD but I have to say I really do love this game and it's challenges! :3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Blood of the Werewolf is a gem of a 2.5D action platformer that hearkens back to the days of the 8-bit era with new school graphics and gameplay. It stands head and shoulders above other platformers and can almost wedge itself into top tier, first party games for consoles, if only it had a map and animals to ride. Its a game that dares to be fun before it turns into a challenge. The only major flaw is from time to time certain sections of the game are in slow motion even with my top tier…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoy this game. The story's interesting, the gameplay is simple yet (very) challening at times. The grahpics can be kind of awkward, but that's not really an issue. Overall I'd recommend this game (especially fun to play during the Halloween season).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Blood of the Werewolf is a difficult game to say the least. Being an action platformer the majority of the game will be compromised of mostly jumping on platforms and either shooting your crossbow as Selena or using your werewolf form to cut through enemies. Now you might be looking at the mixed reviews that the game is getting and wondering why this is occurring. This is mostly due to the fact that Blood of the Werewolf is an extremely hard game and requires a lot of patience and timing to get…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very fun little platformer that reminds me of the classic Castlevania games...but also in it's unfairness too as being hit knocks you back and can instantly lead to your death. The story is very interesting and convinced me to keep going to find out what happens to the child and the whole story, but the big problem is that the ending doesn't just end, but only ends with a cliff-hanger. I'd love to see what would happen and I love the addition of all these different movie horror characters,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's very fun and a different kind of PC game i definitely recommend to to everyone, mostly to people who like games like binding of isaac.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was pleasantly surprised by this game. The platforming is good and the levels are well designed and varied. The boss fights are fun, and probably the best part of the game. It is fun getting new powers, although the game hides most of them for some reason, and since they do a terrible job trying to help you with secrets, you won't find a power or two, and you will miss many upgrades, a mistake to hide away in almost impossible to find spots. The story isn't bad, and it's nice seeing all of…
