For anyone hoping to find a point and click sequel to the first game, I'm thrilled they abandon it for what we got with the sequel. Finding Teddy 2 is a fun, 2D side-scrolling adventure game in a mapless MetroidVania style but with controls taken from Zelda 2. This feels so familiar, fun and fresh for every retro gamer that grew up in the 80s or 90s. There's no nostalgia here outside of the Adventure of Link poster on the wall, Finding Teddy 2 offers an new 20 hour adventure that relies heavily…

Hard to recommend in its current state. I love the idea of the game: A strong girl running around Zelda 2 style collecting powerups and items that will help her navigate the world. The art and animation is wonderful. I love the idea of music/notes to pass through major unlockable areas. However, the world makes no consistent sense, and there's no mapping. Mapping: Many moden games like this have auto-mapping to help keep track of where all the twisting branching areas go. There's just too…

I'm genuinely disappointed I can't recommend this game, because there's a lot to love about it. The pixel-art (ordinarily something a lot of people use to mask lazy art design) is exceptionally well done, beautifully animated and some of the creatures you'll find in-game I'd consider on par with the monster designs of someone like Guillermo Del Toro, or bosses from the Legend of Zelda series. Sound is also a big plus: even though most songs are only short loops, the melodies are memorable and…

Although a departure from the original. Finding Teddy 2, manages to keep the magic and atmosphere of its former. However, new elements and ideas have been added and refined. The music note system which was fairly tricky in the first game. Has been streamlined with a dictionary and simple to use interface. The game has also adopted a new Metroidvania element. Where parts of the game unlock as you gain access to new abilities and powers. The difficulty one found in the original can also be found…

In the end, Finding Teddy II will find a core audience with its game, as it's got several strengths to boost from in terms of it's art design/sound design, the exploration part of the game, and what's a solid but not spectaular control and combat system. But the problem comes in the lack of information the game presents to the user: The user is very much on their own in terms of figuring out things, from figuring out what the next thing to do is, to even simple things like finding out how to…

A GIRL SITS IN THE DARK playing a video game one summer evening. It looks a lot like another game you may have seen before, or perhaps even played yourself. Abruptly the strong glow of the television cuts out and shrouds the room and its contents into shadow. Upset by this, the girl tosses her controller to the carpet, stands, and roots around in a nearby chest -- eventually pulling out a small dagger and green coloured shield. Now so equipped, the girl traverses the disparate rooms of the…

This is a game that started with a cool gimmick and didn't quite get the design it deserved. The gimmick is that you can converse with npc's using a musical language. The design is a basic platforming MetroidVania. I have to say that I do love the language. I found myself talking in this musical tongue while playing, even when there was no one to interact with (like in real life!): however, this is used as a secondary mechanic and remains unused in half of the climactic moments. Aside…

A mixed bag of good and bad that succeeds just enough to garner a recommendation. Summary: Chronicles of Teddy, previously known as Finding Teddy 2, is a game that has left me with very conflicting emotions towards it. It pleases with a charming art style, a soundtrack that adds character to the world, a sense of exploration common to Metroidvanias, and a unique feature called the Musicom that creates the opportunity for some neat puzzles. However, it also frustrates with a mediocre combat…

Teddy is ready for Freddy. Game is a sequel to Finding Teddy. 2D action platformer that takes inspiration from other games like Zelda and such. Gameplay is decent and controls are smooth. Visuals are pixelated and remind of classics from 16-bit era. Sprites are nice to look at and animated really well. Game doesn't have much details in graphics thus visuals are more on simplified side with more focus put on lighting. While exploring the world you find new upgrades and move on ahead bravely with…

As someone who has played almost every Metroidvania on Steam, this one is pretty good. The game just drops you into the world and turns you loose. A lot of people seem to take issue with this approach, but I like the fact that the game pushes you to explore and think. There is a minimal amount of explanation and the player has to figure out everything. It doesn't treat you like an idiot, and its rewarding to figure out some of the game's puzzles and progress. There is no in-game map,…

Those who wanted a followup to the first Finding Teddy should avoid this game. Even without that, it's still rather mediocre. The review reflects my initial expectations and current feelings. I owned this game when it was called Finding Teddy 2. I saw it thinking a new Metroidvania game to play would be nice, but I noticed this bundled with a prequel. I played FT1 through just to make sure I know everything for 2, thinking it would be a little more basic anyway. I was awestruck by the world,…

Magical, visuals and sound design Visually, the game does a good job, offering us what exactly it is, a fairy-tale imagining of a several-year-old girl of her magical world, to which she goes when it.... there is no electricity in the house. If you like Zelda games, you should try Finding Teddy 2! i haven't played a game like this for... many years. The atmosphere is gorgeous, puzzles are challenging and there's a lot (I mean A LOT) of secrets you probably won't find if you rush the game. It seems to be a little hard at first: There is no tutorials, little assistance. But hey! It's like these old games you played when you were a kid in which clues were very rare and you probably spent a lot of time to find the solution. Once you…

Chronicles of Teddy is not a good game. It has beautiful graphics with wonderful backgrounds and top notch character designs and animation. The music is also very good. COT is a side scrolling action/exploration game in the spirit of Dragon's Curse and Monster world 4, even stealing the upwards and downwards slash from the latter. Some compare it to Zelda 2 although I have no idea why. Unfortunately COT fails as a game in every single possible way other than the pretty looks and sounds. The…

I wanted so much to like this game, but the movement feels terrible, bosses stunlock you to death and so many questionable design decisions just ruin this for me. There's a good game here, but I just can't recommend it. I'm also frustrated by the fact that there's no autosave. I lost over 2 hours of progress when the game crashed and I hadn't saved in ages.

Before I really start, let me say that I very much liked the style of this game, and the concepts introduced in its first half. I'm not a puzzle-platform guy, but I must give credit where it's due. Unfortunately, this game suffers from several issues by the time you get to the final boss, which I'll detail. On the Concept of the Musicom First allow me to point out that I LOVE the concept of a musical language, and the Musicom. I liked the idea of learning how to "say" words and using them…

This game starts easy, gets difficult, becomes hard as all get out, and then you find the secret challenges and it turns into a living breathing nightmare from the deepest pits of your imagination. Combat could stand to be better, but the puzzle element is unbelievably unique, and very well done. Have a pencil and paper on hand when you play though, there are a lot of things you need to remember.

This game looks amazing. I was so excited to play and ready for a really cool adventure, as the reviews described. Unfortunately, the description failed to mention that the key configuration is basically unuasable for Mac or PC users without a controller. It is also impossible to rebind the keys, so there is no way to fix this. The movement is set up for Aroow keys and WASD, pretty standard. A tragically underrated metroidvania heavily inspired by Zelda 2. Beautiful visuals, tight controls, gorgeous music, and smart level and enemy design around every turn. Yeah, it's a bit obtuse and will require some out-of-the-box thinking, but so did the old NES games it's inspired by. It should be noted that many of the older reviews are no longer applicable, as the developer added some key features in updates a few years ago, including a map and various tutorial texts explaining things. WARNING: As of Dec 2022 (Game Ver 3.0.0) New Game+ Achievements are still broken. You won't be able to 100% all achievements. Otherwise... its a fun Metroidvania with gameplay similar to Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (NES). A little tough and a little buggy at times, but nothing too frustrating. Puzzles can be a little vague, just like classic NES-style, but the game does give you the hints needed if you think about it hard enough.

Lots of potential, but just doesn't hold up. After a half hour of traversing long, mostly empty rooms, and handling jumps and enemies more reminiscent of SMB1 than Zelda 2, I gave up. Also, the default keymappings are BIZARRE and cannot be changed.

This is incredibly disapointing. This game has a good backstory, great pixel art, and great character designs. The ONLY problem I have is with the ridiculous controls. I don't know why "P" is attack and "L" is jump instead of "Z" and "X" respectively or at least put in the option to change the controls.

I really like the pixel art of this game, and the story, as well as the puzzles, however foucusing on the puzzles from the very first beginning it's not pleasing, the game needs to flow better in my opinion, it doesn't make sense to focus so much on them straight from start, (at the nut village for example). I really like this game but i can't find the price reasonable, i'm afraid to tell but i'll ask a refund till i hope to find this lil wasted gem in a bundle or similar.

If you enjoy a good action platformer along the same lines as Metroid or the DS castlevania games then you'll definitely enjoy Finding Teddy 2. It has the same kind of style but puts its own little twist into everything.. It really seems like it would be those games if being seen through the eyes of a child. For example, in order to go in water effectively in one of the castlevania's, you needed a scale. In this, you need one of those water ring duckies. The game in terms of text on the…

A solid metroidvania platformer, with movement that feels good. My only complaint is that I wish there was a little more breathing room between the edge of my character's hitbox, and her weapon's attack range -- the enemies with shields are harder than they should be. But, the bosses are excellent, and the music system is interesting. A+

Is the game pretty? Yes. That's it. That's the good parts. Anything regarding combat in the game is horribly designed. Your tiny range forces you to overwhelmingly rely on the downstab and upstab attacks because they last for more than a tenth of a second, unlike anything else you can do. Having such a tiny range could be less of an issue if it wasn't so easy to get inside an enemy's hitbox and then you take contact damage, forcing you to re-engage. Most enemies that have some capability…

Sadly, one of the most disappointing games I've ever tried to play. It's a disgrace to the whole Metroidvania genre: you roam around pointlessly doing nothing. There are almost no enemies, those few are a joke, you immediately get lost into mazes of doors, areas are very small and uninteresting, jumping from one platform to another is a pain, and attacks slow you down. Before creating a Metroidvania game, you should really play Symphony of the Night and learn from it. If the authors tried to…

There's some really unique gameplay mechanics, the combat is very reminiscent of Zelda II which I loved back in the day and what little there is of a story is pretty neat. Chronicles of Teddy has the makings of a good game, mostly in its graphics and sounds. But the current gameplay is an uneven, frustrating mess in need of retooling. The mechanics don't mesh, so the gameplay falls apart the more you progress. Right off the bat, your ability to push small pots serves no purpose outside screwing up your ability to break them. The double tap run makes you prone to accidentally running face first into a shielded enemy. Gaining the wall jump frequently screws up…

Often frustratingly vague, without a map or any "traditional" instructions, but beyond that, this is one of the most interesting and fun metroidvanias I've ever had the pleasure of playing. Environments are vast, more secrets than I can handle, upgrades, achievements, great music, and captivating visual style, and the very unique musicom mechanic(which makes clever use of sound and an in-universe language to find secrets and solve puzzles) make this very worth playing. Finding Teddy 2 is the game for you if you: -enjoy games that crash frequently, with no autosaves, of course, wouldn't want you keeping your progress when you find a bug -rather get lost with no idea where to go in an inconsistent world than having a map system -love backtracking through boring platforming to go through unending red doors, tedious tasks are fun! -like getting shot by enemies after screen transitions, when you have no control over your character, and if you are lucky you may…

NÃO É POSSIVEL TROCAR OS CONTROLES DESTE JOGO. NÃO COMPRE ESTE JOGO A MENOS QUE VOCÊ QUEIRA PULAR NO "L". IT'S NOT POSSIBLE TO CHANGE KEYBOARD BINDINGS ON THAT GAME. DON'T BUY IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO JUMP ON "L".

Don't let the beautiful graphics mislead you. It's the only redeeming factor for this game. After making a nice Point'n'Click game with Finding Teddy, Storybird tried their hands on a platformer with puzzle elements in the second installment. Sadly, this idea backfired immensely. The controls are hellishly unresponsive with your character carrying far too much momentum over when changing direction, especially mid-air. Everything just feels delayed and sluggish. Your first sword is so short,…

Excellent metroidvania platformer. Honestly one of the best platformers I have played in years. They really don't make them like this anymore, great level design, interesting and fun game mechanics, tight controls (your skill and timing are the only thing to blame for your failure), good soundtrack, lots of secrets. I put this game on the same level of enjoyment as 'Ori and the Blind Forest'. The aesthetics might not be the same, but this game is intentionally retro. Finding Teddy 2 does not…

Have you ever really wanted to love something? It looks like something you’d love, it sounds like something you’d love, and by all rights, it should be something you love, but it’s not. For whatever reason, the stars have maliciously aligned and this Thing You Should Love falls just short of the mark, stumbling in as a bittersweet disappointment, a wasted opportunity, a thing you so easily could have loved, and it stings. That is how I feel about Finding Teddy II.…

This is a classic Metroidvania, pure and simple. Beyond that, the controls are not the tightest for an action platformer but they are more than enough to get the job done. The pixel animation is gorgeous, almost enough so to make the game worth playing just for that. Unfortunately, the game suffers from a few disruptive glitches here and there; save frequently and don't pause at inopportune moments, otherwise you may find yourself in big trouble. I have also had problems with the game…

This game is very reminiscent of Metroid and Zelda (Zelda II: The Adventure of Link to be specific) and it plays great. The controls are tight and combat fun. When you use the jump + down attack you bounce off their head like a trampoline which leads to some bouncy combos. The dungeons like dungeons within dungeons. Your hub world has rooms to unlock as you collect different abilities and encourages revisiting old areas to get to previously hard to reach treasure boxes. The pixel art and…
