The original Black Mirror was an interesting bit of classic adventuring, a slow burn through the mysteries of an ancient British castle and its noble line. Personally I loved it but it's a tough sell in the modern era, with some questionable puzzles and practically glacial pace. Black Mirror II needs no such qualifications though, as it builds on the pedigree by improving virtually every part of the formula. You play Darren Michaels, a young physics major out of Boston who's spending time with…

A worthy sequel to the first Black Mirror. This game, released 8 years later than the first game, has improved on every aspect. The graphics are detailed and look great, the voice acting is... alright, but still better than the first game, and the story managed to keep a good continuation from the first game, which was not intended to have any sequels! The ending is a pretty big cliffhanger, but luckily Black Mirror III is readily available. The puzzles are excellent, and you won't have to…

Black Mirror 2, like the first in the series it is a point and click murder mystery. pros: >Voice Acting >Models >Animation >Backgrounds Cons: >Atmosphere (no where near as good as the first, game did not seem spooky at all) >Story (good how they tied up some plot holes from the first but i thought the story was rather dull) >Facial expressions are non exsistent Overall i thought the game was lackluster. the story and atomsphere never got going and the game felt like a chore to play…

It's a must for fans of the first game, but I hated with a passion all the characters. The protagonist talks and behaves in ways that are endlessly irritating and arrogant, and everyone else's dialogues are not much better. The spoken audio is often very low volume, making it difficult to understand even with Music and Ambient turned to the minimum, and captions are often difficult to read. Other than that, its an average point and click adventure. The original game was, in my opinion, way…

Black Mirror II takes place 12 years after the events of the original Black Mirror. If you liked the first game I think you will like this one too. You play as Darren Michaels, a college student from Boston. I found Darren to be every bit as unlikeable as Samuel Gordon, the original protagonist in the first game. Now Darren has a Bostonian accent - I'm not sure how authentic it is but I found it a bit annoying. Darren is a physics major and very clever at making use of everyday objects…

I really enjoyed the game - most of the puzzles could be solved logically if you paid attention to what was said and to your surroundings - I played the easy mode just in case I'd want to skip a puzzle, but they were all doable it is a little gory, so be warned if you are squeamish, there are murders and multiple deaths for the protagonist - save often! all in all a fun game, though - I highly recommend it - for me, Black Mirror III awaits :)

*** PLEASE BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY, This was the PERFECT Game of all time ever! EVERYTHING fit into place perfectly! You never wondered if something would combine, fit or trigger the next part of the puzzle. There were all the elements of a true amazing adventure game. There was a detective angle to it as well. The story was excellent. The characters were terrific. And the locations were super duper COZY!!! EVERYTHING kept making sense as you went along. Like a great movie or novel, you couldn't…

Picks up somewhat later in the game, but utterly lacks the haunted grace and uncanny charm of its predecessor. The inner mind of some teenie bopping college kid (Darren) is just less interesting than that of the stuffy, cursed, aristocrat, Samuel Gordon, of Black Mirror I. It's not a bad game, but if I really wanted bad graphics, unlikable characters, and mediocre dialogue I could walk down my own town street. Worth playing perhaps to get to Black Mirror III.

Very obviously not made by the people who made the first game. I don't think I connected with a single character. Weird voice acting, even weirder choice to make the main character talk to the player in a really odd way. When you're in the store at the beginning of the game, Fuller not only has possibly the worst voice acting in the entire game, he also has one singular "voiceline" where he coughs that just keeps playing over and over again while you're in the store. Quite a sad sequel to a…

This is an instance where I would say that the sequel surpassed the original. Pros: Unlike the first Black Mirror, there were plot twists that caught me unexpected. In the first, I already knew exactly where the main plot was heading, and so the climactic reveal fell flat. While there were elements of the story that I felt were coming, there was still enough to surprise me that I got to enjoy experiencing the plot as I played. The storyline ties into and expands on the first game, and…

I really wish there was an option to give a mixed review for cases like this, instead of just positive or negative. Since the vast majority of reviews are positive, I'll go with negative, because while this game isn't a bad point-and-click adventure overall, it does have some aspects that are truly off-putting. First, the positives: Like the first installment in the series, Black Mirror II succeeds in creating a rich atmosphere – perfect for fans of cozy horror. While the first two chapters…

A surprisingly well done point & click adventure with some minor shortcomings. It sticks to the old recipe that made these games great, before they ended up being cinematic walking simulators like the latest Syberia (which I loved btw). This one brings back the old Broken Sword 1 and 2 vibes but with less focus on the humor and more on the 'horror'. Main point in these games has always been the story and the voice acting and for me both were more than adequate. I found the story quite…

Great sequel. +The story of Black Mirror I continues and it's written even better than the original. There are many familiar places and references from the first game and the story is a direct continuation. +Graphics look better and has the charming 2000's game aesthetics. Scenery is even better than the first game and there are tons of places to see throughout the story. +Protagonist is kind of grumpy but likable. +Quality of life additions such as extra hints & point of interest indicators.…

Black Mirror II, builds on its predecessor in every way. It continues the story of the haunted castle known as Black Mirror, but from the next generation. Some characters from the first game return, but having aged significantly. Many loose narrative ends are tied up quite eloquently, and we revisit many of our beloved locations: Willow Creek, Black Mirror, Wales. The graphics and art style are gorgeous (sort of reminds me of LiS, but it predates it by over a decade). Compared to the first…

Rarely is a point-and-click adventure as absorbing and immersive as in the case of the Black Mirror series. Superb scenery, weather, ambient sounds, and music all masterfully come together into an almost a life-like experience. Black Mirror II is a decent adventure game with a few annoyances. The protagonist is an arrogant arse. Several of the English accents portrayed are absolutely appalling. Murray, Tom, Sally. Just terrible. The double-click feature to accelerate time fails regularly. Sound isn't normalised properly so the voices are far too quiet at one moment and then much louder a moment later causing you to have to see-saw the volume up and down, which is very annoying, and the speech is incredibly verbose .…

The sequel was made by different people than the original game, and it shows. It's definitely a much better adventure game, staying well away from most of the glaring gameplay flaws of its ancestor. I still wouldn't call it perfect: some puzzles are too straightforward, some others are too much about pixelhunting a small missed item somewhere - but that's all pretty common in the genre. By far, the worst thing you'll find here is a maze - one that you'll have to reverse-navigate later a second…

The original writers had nothing to do with this game and that really shows. Joint review for Black MIrror I, II and III: I highly recommend finishing Black Mirror I before starting II and III. BM I is harder, more outdated, and tends to crash if you alt-tab in the game, so save often and you may need a walkthrough. With a different developer the game took a new approach—modernized visuals, fresh characters, and a setting that gradually ties back to the chilling mystery of the first game.
