60 of 107 · most liked firstI enjoyed the first one, though many of the flaws are still present in the sequel. The voice acting is atrocious, with dialogue seemingly dragging on forever with pointless conversations that really don't need to be as long as they are. The puzzles are... random and often don't make sense. I've played a lot of point-and-click adventures over the years, but even I had to resort to reading walkthroughs occasionally. Rather than solving puzzles through logic, often it is a simple case of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I kinda liked it :o) I'm a sucker for mystery, conspiracy and/or secret society stories, and that is what you get here. The story isn't fully fleshed or in any way intricate, but rather a bit shallow and simplified. One can't help to think that they could've done a lot more to get a more fully story told, but I still found it entertaining enough. It's an old game now, and it shows through looking at the characters, several backdrops and the cutscenes. Several are a bit blurry and low on…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a pitiful excuse for a game and a disgrace for the genre. I clawed my way through it, and by the time I was halfway through I was THIS close to going insane from: -) the lousy voice acting -) the wannabe funny dialogues, that end up being nothing short of awkwardly bad -) the ludicrous story and -) the disastrous "riddles". Here's a random example of the latter: Find random "noisemaker" on the ground at a zoo, use it to lure a pair of DUCKS halfway through Paris back to the Zoo so…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a quintessential old-school point-and-click adventure that builds on the solid foundation of its predecessor. While some might find the plot a bit basic or ordinary, it's quite decent considering the time of its release.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still an ok game but much worse than first part What’s better Backgrounds looks much better and are animated Character graphics are a little bit better … but just a little bit What’s worse VOICE ACTING !!! – What definitely was the worst part of previous installment actually got even worse. Voices of secondary characters are ok but main cast will probably annoy you as hell. Sometimes they can sound pretty decent but most of the time dialogs (and monologs) are WAY overreacted or use…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good aventure game. Not overly difficult, but not just dialog and finding and combining objects either. With patience it is solvable, a few puzzles are annoying and not obvious. At no point will the game get so discouraging that you'll end up giving up and using a walkthrough to get through the whole thing. The game is funny when it wants to be, and dramatic too. Overall this is a great adventure. Highly recommended. I'd already played Tunguska, and I'm looking forward to Secret Files 3…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I finished the first Secret Files on the Wii, and I have to say that Part 2 so far is much nicer. The graphics are much better and the controls on the mouse are much easier to use. I like how the game ties into part 1 nicely.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was really glad when the game started and the voices were different. But, while in the first game they were insufferable (cheery and full of excess energy without reason), in this one I still needed some getting used to them, because they were on the opposite end of the spectrum: They were totally bland and made the characters seem apathetic. I was expecting Nina to utter "Why do I even bother?"! There was again a plethora of riddles (logical and illogical) and I've found it a bit refreshing…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →not so bad, still old school. pros: main character's voice improved, main plot entertaining. cons: even easier, interactions too easy to spot on the background.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just like the first game, this one is also a really good point and click adventure game, the main characters are back and some other characters make cameos too, the story on this one is a bit weaker compared to the first game, but it still had an interesting one. Puzzles on the other hand got a bit weirder and harder probably because it wasnt as obvious as the puzzles in the first one, most were still logic bound, but some of the later ones were way harder to grasp than any i found on the first…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it started out like a fun game, but I ran into a blocker bug as Nina was about to clean the skylight, she disappeared from view... I got a save from a friend just after that, but Nina disappeared again - none of my friends ran into that bug, but I'm giving it a thumbs down because I did
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I SO wanted to like this game. Everything about it screamed ADVENTURE GAME! The graphics are beautiful. The story seemed interesting and there are some parts where you pick-up objects, talk to people and navigate through scene based puzzles, what could be better, right? Well that's what I thought. But that's where it ends. First of all there are limited scenes, so many times you find yourself backtracking and worse yet clicking objects too early which makes you believe you did the wrong thing;…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After experiencing the first game in the series with somewhat charming graphics and a mediocre story at best I expected the sequel to be an improved version of its predecessor. Unfortunately what happened is disappointment. The game applies the logic of classic point & click games, where even the simplest task is stretched into a long sequence of nonsensical puzzles. You can forgive a game such approach, if the storytelling is worth it. Unfortunately that’s not the case here. The first part of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love point and click adventure games and there are only three things that make me downvote a point and click adventure game: 1. Poor controls 2. Gamebreaking bugs 3. Illogical puzzles After playing Secret Files 2, I realized that there was a fourth: 4. Even worse writing The writing in this game is what earned it the down vote. All dialogue sounds like it was written by a single person and read by many voices. All the characters have pretty much the same personality. All of them try to be…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game though it seems pretty budget to me. Totally worth your while if you get it with a 75% discount.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Whilst not as good as the original Secret Files, this sequel does have its highlights and features an engaging plot. Worth buying if you want to know what happened next in the lives of Nina Kalenkov and Max Gruber.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A rather big step down in quality from the already mediocre Secret Files 1: Tunguska. Everything is worse here: The graphics, the story, the music, the puzzles, the characters, and - holy hell - the voice acting! Literally some of the worst acting and voice direction I've heard in my life. You know you're in trouble when you constantly want to gnaw your mouse-clicking hand off while being exposed to yet another lengthy and supremely annoying internal monologue delivered with a warbling vibrato.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Highly Recommended. Great adventure game, old school, new technology. Even better than Secret Files 1. Great work
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Introduction "Secret Files 2: Puritas Cordis" is the 2009-released successor to classic Point-'n-Click-Adventure "Secret Files: Tunguska" by German developer Animation Arts. Again we take control of our heroic couple Nina Kalenkow and Max Gruber, this time trying to outsmart a murderous sect responsible for several natural disasters all around the globe. The game serves as some sort of "Stand-Alone-Sequel", as its plot is not connected to that of the first game, except for some minor…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really lackluster title compared to first entry. Here things start really nicely, but around halfway through, when you're searching for cubes game becomes annoying backtracking and even worse, a pixel hunt. I just don't enjoy adventures where you need to hunt those. It just feels really dated. Also the problem solving becomes downright stupid at that point, where logic is mostly thrown out. Definitely play the first one, but skip this one. For 6/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Better than Part One. Even if I you did not play part one, you can easily follow the story. Nonetheless there are some jokes referencing it. Puzzles now more logical. Mostly it is still about combining items until they match. Humor is often cheesy. Cutscenes are loaded with clichees - helicopter rescues, bad guys in dark robes, world domination... Things I have seen so many times before. But all in all I enjoyed playing it. :-)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked the first one and was hoping this one to be somewhat good but ended up being quite a disaster, the dialogues from Nina (the main character) are not just dumb, but long as well, and if you want to look at something again it repeats the same entire ten pages long annoying testament instead of a short resumed version like many games do. So if you pick a pencil, she has a super long story of how her ancestors where artists and how they forged the first machine to mass produce pencils and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR: A low-quality point and click game with an awful story, terrible voice-acting and puzzle design that averages on poor. Only really recommended for those that loved the original game or are really desperate for an adventure game; and only then on a sale. Long story: You play as Nina and Max once more, but after they have apparently broken up. Nina bumps into a guy minutes before he horribly dies, only to find that she has gotten his luggage by mistake. Cue secret sect which threatens the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Secret Files 2 is a lovely sequel. The environments are pretty, the story is intriguing, puzzles are fun, and the game doesn't take itself seriously. Overall it is a very enjoyable adventure and it carries over the lighthearted feel I liked about the original!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →OK for $2 but I wouldn't pay much more. Nice graphics, entertaining if cliched story (Da Vinci code type stuff). Cringey dialogues, random puzzles, much like the first. Used a walkthrough for most as puzzles are very obscure.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Secret Files Tunguska & Lost Horizon are good. Bored silly after 4 hours of this one. Uninstalled.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →pros + high quality pre rendered graphics. the backgrounds being particularly beautiful and well-designed + intriguing conspiracy story. you re try to prevent an evil sect (Puritas Cordis) from fulfilling their apocalyptic plans + some enjoyable puzzles. they are not too easy or overly complicated. there are also inventory puzzles you can combine some items + there are plenty of different, interesting and exotic locations + four playable character. Nina and Max quite likeable protagonists +…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Secret Files: Puritas Cordis is a captivating point-and-click adventure game that delivers a compelling storyline, challenging puzzles, and impressive visuals and sound design. The game follows the journey of Nina Kalenkov and Max Gruber as they investigate a sinister conspiracy threatening the world. Overall, it's a must-play for fans of the adventure genre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Secret Files 2: Puritas Cordis is the sequel to the (in my opinion) awful first Secret Files game, developed in my homeland of germany. This game, luckily, is better than the first one; the voice acting is (slightly) improved, graphics are, understandably, way nicer and the backgrounds are about as good as in it's predecessor. Compared to the first game, the story is slightly less involving and way more preachy, but still not bad. The bad parts, sadly, are also still there: while the voice…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very mediocre. Only for point and click freaks. Voice acting feels amateurish. Story is not every good. Humor is embarrassingly bad. Lot of the puzzles don't make much sense. Some are fun though. The first game was alot better.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game! I guess at first it was odd with the different voices than in Tunguska but still really fun to play :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The second game of the Secret Files serie is a good one too, even if i preferred the first one. I just not liked the story as much...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this in 2009, was pretty OK.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Secret Files 2: Puritas Cordis, developed by Animation Arts and published by Ravenscourt, builds upon the foundation of its predecessor by expanding both its narrative scope and gameplay structure. It aims to deliver a more ambitious and globally interconnected adventure, blending conspiracy, catastrophe, and mystery into a single, sprawling experience. While it retains the core elements that define the genre, it also experiments with structure and tone, resulting in a game that feels larger in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Today's video game for the Nintendo DS is Secret Files 2: Puritas Cordis, developed by keen games and published by Koch Media! It was released on August 29, 2008. #DS #Nintendo #Gaming
unlabelledView post →The first sequel in the "Secret Files" series is very similar to its predecessor, including the great (German) voice-acting and an engaging story. This time, you even switch back and forth between the two main characters with each chapter. You will see changes in the slightly better graphics and also the increased difficulty though. While puzzles in the first game were pretty logical, they can be a bit convoluted and strange here. Don't worry, that doesn't kill the fun. If you liked the first…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed the first game and I'm genuinely struggling to finish the second. Everyone sounds so sleepy and dead. There have been a couple of moments where I've just been picking up things off the ground for 20minutes which then lead me to just arbitrarily trying to smash them together or use them on everything because I'd lost a bit of interest by the time my inventory was ready. It's not awful, it does what it should do but I'm hoping for more fun in the third one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty good sequel to Secret Files: Tunguska. Story follows some time after the first game. Quite decent puzzles, good voice acting. Visually dated but entertaining.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Better graphics than the first one but the story is less fun, the puzzles are more complicated (stupid?) to resolve. And the credits are less crazy than the first one also. Still, it's an ok game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Известная в узких кругах адвенчура нулевых. Улучшилась прорисовка окружения и персонажей, пазлы стали меньше логичными. На Windows 11 падает с ошибкой инициализации DirectX.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Secret Files 2. Is a great game and sequel to to SF: Tunguska. Nina and Max are back and a bit older. They got new voice actors for Max and Nina and honestly it took a bit for me to get used to. The devs also upgraded the graphics. I've played the game so much I can get through the game in 1h 40m now. The only downfall is this a continuation of a small part the story from the first game, so it's a whole new story. But a big part of the main story of Tunguska is picked back up in SF:3. Like…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is by all means, a bad game. However, since I like point and click games, and this wasn't so bad on the puzzles-side, I may have given it a pass; but one thing leads me to give it a negative review, and that's the writing. It's just atrocious. If you've played the first game, it wasn't great, but it wasn't that bad, either. Here... oh boy, I truly can't believe how bad it is, all the way through. It's not just a matter of the story being far-fetched (which it is), or the characters being…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played first one so i want see another great story. And i get nice story, in this Secret files you find some nwe thinks, what make gameplay better, like new style of menu and nice detailed characters and enviroments. Like in title before, we have it here puzzles what you can beat wihout any guide, just you need try everyting in you inventory combine or use it on world items or characters. BUt only one minus of this title is, secret files 1 been like journey, where you se manny diffrent places…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ran across a bug in the game which won't allow me to combine tent poles with fence. The game is not hard, enjoyable for a point and click adventure, similar to the other two. However cannot play with game further without a fix so I can't recommend this game presently.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As with the previous game "Secret Files 1" I had a blast with this one as well, the game is very divers in scenery, has a great plot, nice puzzles, great diversity of chars with very decent speach actors and also some funny references to the first part. All in all again a gem of a game, highly recommended!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like point & click adventure games you will enjoy this. This is the sequel to Secret Files: Tunguska.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They replaced the entire voice cast in the second installment. Didn't help. The same voiceover problems, both artistical and technical. The lead actress's attempts at dramatism are simply pathetic. On top of it, most of the object interactions still heavily utilize the "quest logic" instead of... well... logic, forcing you not to think but brute force everything until you stumble upon a solution. Sorry, but still no recommendation from me...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The stream is over! We stayed with the SNES Classic version of this game, and made some good progress. We'll be back on Saturday with Digital Devil Saga 2, and next Sunday with more Super Metroid. We raided @xyzzysqrl.bsky.social who's playing Secret Files 2. Check her out: www.twitch.tv/xyzzysqrl
unlabelledView post →Still delightful, although the voice acting is pretty wack and I dislike it when the protagonist refers to other women as "bimbos"
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is probably one of the worst adventure games, and I played a lot of them. The writing is a total cliche-fest, the characters are obnoxious and hard to sympathize with, the voice acting is wooden and disconnected, the plot nonsensical, and the gameplay consists of endless inventory puzzles that require the most absurd combinations of items which quickly degrade to the "use everything on everything" routine. Example - a guy falls into a hypoglycemic coma. You have a chocolate bar, but you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Like its predecessor, it is a solid game that is not too difficult due to its straightforwardness.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Improved graphics and well chosen soundtrack for the sequel to the good SF: Tunguska. Save the world again by a mysterious sect, preaching the coming of Apocalypse to the masses of the Earth. I liked most of the enigmas in this game and I'd declare their difficulty to be fair. Sadly, the voice acting for the two protagonists leaves much to be desired, once again. It's still a good game you shouldn't miss, expecially while it's on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great game, lovely scenary and good story, relevant still to this day. This was my 2nd playthrough, still have the next in the series to play (both for first time) Let's go Streaming on Steam/Twitch&Facebook
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I recommend this game for the puzzles and the classic point and click experience. That's honestly the best reason to play it. Oh, and if you were curious to find out what happened after the first game. The caveats include a number of downsides: Sam and Max (yes, insert shudder) have awful dialogue. Awful. The humor is cringe-worthy! Emphasis on CRINGE. I blame that partly on the poor English voice track. Once again, foreign accents don't really match up to the supposed nationality…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The atmosphere is different than the first installment which I adore, but the story, length and riddles definitely make that up.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →We have another Secret Files game and I would recommend it. Graphically it's not going to knock your socks off but it's nice enough looking. The game is a step up from the previous though some of the accents for characters are a bit odd considering where they're meant to be from. Some of the cultural references are amusing, though they don't go overboard with them and some of the puzzles are a bit odd or frustrating but it's still an enjoyable enough game. I would wait till you can get it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I lost interest quickly on this one too.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →6.5/10 Puritas Cordis is a sequel to the previous game in the series, which they use to keep the same characters, and progress their relationship, but fail to address hanging plot threads. Apart from that, it's a very traditional experience in terms of gameplay, and in terms of story it has a couple of mildly interesting takes but resolves things again very traditionally. Enjoyable for fans of the genre, but basically nothing special to offer. Puritas Cordis is a point and click adventure…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Initial impressions are alright. Seems generally not-as-good as the first Secret Files (Tunguska), but it's still interesting and gripping enough. The biggest issue is the voice recording quality. The voice acting itself isn't that bad, but the recording is horrible. You'll have phrases with a completely different volume and ambient right next to each other in a conversation.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Funny dialogues. Story is a little weird. The game is short enough to be enjoyable.
