But once the first impression fades away, you realize that it plays worse than Battle Isle 1 or Battalion: Nemesis or even Advanced Strategic Command (these games are either significantly less expensive or even free), The biggest downside of this game for me is that the UI is sluggish and not as assistive as it could be. As you play the game, you realize that it takes quite long, because you wait for something all the time (UI to respond, animation to finish, CPU to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I backed this game when showed up on Kickstarter so I very much knew what I was going to get along the way reading the updates and discussions going on during development. It tries to be in a way a throwback to the Battle Isle series and such games like that, on that level it feels some what similar but for me does not quite hit the sweet spot that those titles hit from an enjoyment factor. The game itself I found to be at times hard but only if held off using the reinforcement system but…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Battle Worlds: Kronos has been abandoned with no patching or updates done in nearly 2 years. There are outstanding issues left such as achievements not working and numerous clunky UI issues. Multi-player died a long time ago, all that is left are the single player campaigns. The first campaign has a decent storyline and I have to say units and tactical strategies diversity makes this title not an entirely brain dead experience. However, the game relies on cheating far too much. The game play…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Uninspired turn based grind. This game has almost nothing new to offer the genre and I quickly became bored by scenario 6. The AI is also fairly poor with enemy units often stationary until triggered into action by your own units proximity. Graphics average at best, minimal lightwight story, cliche sound effects. Avoid.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A solid game, but multiplayer is an absolute ghost town. If you're mainly considering the game for online multiplayer - stay away. I've been trying every day since I got the game last week and I'm yet to complete a game online.Very disappointing.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is very difficult, perhaps to the point of being unfair in some missions. This is exactly the way it should be, Battle Worlds delivers exactly what I wanted out of a Battle Isle inspired game. For the new lower price with the extra content? It is a great buy. Just be aware that there is a steep learning curve with this game. And when I say steep, I mean you will fail the first mission over and over until you "get it". A few tips: * save often * You can call for reinforcements, once every…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A turn based strategy game focusing on combat rather base building or politics, in this game you will be constantly outnumbered, outgunned, and out of resourses. You'll have to use range differences between different units and units that counter different armour to full effect to win. The game has a heavy focus on keeping your troops alive, and going up against the enemy head on will usually end poorly for you. Units gain veterancy which can be spent on new abilities, or to heal the unit for a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not really a Battle Isle successor but a solid turn-based tactics game. Positive: - Long campaign (20-40h) - Good graphic and sound for a strategy game - Excellent Multiplayer System with leagues - Map-Editor Negative:: - Really bad AI - Boring campaign story and some of the missions are bad Recommendation:: If you compare it direct with Battle Island, you will be disappointed. If you general in this kind of game you will like it and have fun in the multiplayer if you find good players. But…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game might be for you but it certainly wasn't for me. The game is very challenging, and while this isn't a bad thing, it makes it feel as if there aren't any options. I am a huge fan of turn based strategy games. My favorite is XCOM ('94) which is definitely a very difficult game. It can be cruel but it's never boring. Battle World feels like there's only one solution to each problem and if you don't know the right strategy then you're going to lose. It doesn't give you a lot of options.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played already about 14 Hours of it on the DRM-free version of the developer until i got a steam key. Its a very complex turn-based strategy game with great mission design. Playing the campagne will take a good amount of time. But its not an easy game and has no option for changing the difficulty, but you can make it easier by dropping a few additional troops every ten rounds. Eventhough the game is not 100%ly polished in terms of comfort, the core gameplay mechanics are brilliant. Also the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well worth the effort to learn a very challenging game. From the reviews it seems many people are put off by the difficulty level. It is difficult, but if you stick with it you will learn strategies that will let you win, even without reinforcements. I'm not that great at games like this but I"ve managed to win the first eight scenarios without ever using reinforcements. However, I do make liberal use of frequent game saving. Every turn or two I save the game and if things don't work out I'll…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great remake of Battle Isle. Computer is not so difficult to beat once you master the tactics of using given equipment efficiently to the point you can win without any loses. I am just on mission 4 and game is designed so far that the computer is not on an offensive - I am. I will see if this the case through the whole game but I doubt it. Still it feels epic long term entertainment to me. Grpahics is just right. Very detailed units and really nice map which you can zoom in and out. Sound -…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm really liking this game. It's fresh, with a good story line. It uses turn-based combat, but in a quick and efficient style, and not at all clunky like other games. It's challenging, but not impossible. Overall, I'm having fun with it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Turn-based strategies. It's hard not to love them. Especially if you're old enough to remember the genre at its best, when every new Battle Isle game used to make a huge impact. Battle Worlds: Kronos wants you to remember about those times. Unfortunately, it fails to be entertaining enough. But I'm getting ahead of myself. First of all, the game looks surprisingly cute, while being both nostalgic (even though this game clearly tries to be some sort of Battle Isle spiritual successor, visually…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They refused to give Steam Keys to those that bought it on their website. Companies like this you simply don't support. Especially when they were voted in via Greenlight. Get Pandora from Slitherine instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If oyu like the oldschool turn-based strategy games like Panzer General or Battle Isle: Buy it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It takes way too many jazz cigarettes to enjoy this game. The experience is uninspired and underwhelming. The story is dull, and does nothing to motivate me to continue. The graphics leave you with the "Did this in 2007" feeling. The gameplay is more puzzle than tactical. You will not be developing strategies to suit your play style. Instead, you'll be reloading saves until you figure out the right sequence of moves required to win. If puzzling is your thing though, so many games over the past…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very content dense, and well thought out TBS. Classical in the sense that it borrows a ton of concepts from the games that came before it, while sprucing them up with a modern graphics set and extremely streamlined UI. If you're looking for a game to satisfy your strategy urges and enjoyed titles like Advance Wars, Battle for Wesnoth, etc. then BW : K will be right up your alley. The campaign alone will get you 40-50 hours of gameplay if you hustle. Definitely a purchase worth having for any…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you want to enjoy this game, prepare yourself for long winded tactical combat. Also, prepare yourself for restarting campaign missions quite often. Due to the turn based nature of the game you can easily lose all your troops before you even know what to do or where to go in a mission. That is annoying, I have to say. Other than that, it's a neat game though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A punishingly brutal turn based game with a mundane story, a sluggish and unhelpful UI, a AI that alternates between absolutely useless, and mindreadingly overpowered. Missions turn into a trial and error of knowing when and where enemy units will activate and how they'll react, rather than being a fair assessment of strategy and tactics. The entire game feels like a poorly put together puzzle of trying to see where enemies will react and when they won't react to you being juuust enough outside…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Even though I rarely finish turn-based strategy games because they're so time-consuming (and often insanely difficult) in late missions, I kinda enjoy them and played a few like Battle Isle series, History Line, Nectaris, ... New games in this genre are rare, so I gave Battle Worlds: Kronos a shot. Here's what I think of it: Singleplayer ------------- Don't get fooled by the fact that the campaign only has 13 missions because they're quite long - I took me approximately 40 hours to get through…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I backed Battle Worlds: Kronos on Kickstarter, and in the end, I'm really glad I did! This was a fun turn-based wargaming experience, challenging in the best way. There are a lot of interlocking combat systems, each fairly simple on its own but adding up to create a wide array of things to think about as you try to manage your forces, and the AI plays fairly well - it's smart about using units and avoids being baited and kited, but it does often act fairly passive, which allows you time to get…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just for the statistics: I'm a passionate player of turn based strategy games, I've played a lot of them and I was never fearing a tough challenge. I really wanted to love this game, but like many others, all I found was frustration. The reasons were dicussed well enough. I will not repeat them. The Dev's response related to this critism suggests, that they do not see any (design) failures on their side and that they are not willing to intoduce corresponding changes. Well, that's ok - its…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First Impressions: http://www.cublikefoot.com/video/battle-worlds-kronos-first-impressions/ Battle Worlds: Kronos is a turn-based strategy game developed by King Art Games. It’s got plenty of gameplay, online features, and quite a learning curve. I started off the game immediately by playing a live multiplayer match with a friend of mine, as that’s what I do with most strategy games. This may have been a bad idea, as we both had trouble figuring out what to do for the first hour or so of our…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've heard comparisons of this game to Advanced Wars and Panzer General which influenced my purchase. Let me tell you this pile of junk is far from those two titles. The mechanics of a turn based game are all here, yet the real thing that one wants in a game are missing that being a GAME. This "game" feels empty. Your presented with a corny video sequence with grafix strait out of the late 90's. You'r dropped in a "tutorial" scenario that is poorly executed, and almost every unit in the game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game developers are not interested (too lazy) to offer different difficulty levels - and it is extremely tedious. Of course, one could repeat a mission until one has trained enough. But most players are interested in playing at their skill level and not training to become professional.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short version relating to other games I've played: More advanced Civ combat with a little bit of older style rts unit management. I enjoyed the one difficulty setting premise. Since I'm not clueless it was a good difficulty to complete without getting help. Little bit buggy and cutscenes desynced but that is irrelevant to me. I don't know what else to say besides if you think there's a chance you will like it, you will. Also it is fairly easy to get 100% achievements. edit: after playing…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Battle World:Kronos review This game is a very hard strategy which has it's pros and cons, although it seems nice at the beggining, that buff will not last for long. So if you're new to this genre, get out. If you're okay with these types of games, you should probably also get out. If you're a master, welcome to where you're life will turn insanely addicted. Please take to mind, this game is Hard, very hard. I just suck at this genre. Graphics This is a very pretty game with so many…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like the game however, it is crushingly difficult for me. There is no option to change difficulty. There is an ability, in game, to call in reinforcments though. The graphics are mediocre but sufficient for it's needs. I liked the music (it refreshing not being forced to hear dubstep in this game). My suggestion is to wait for it to go on sale for around 15$ if you are into very difficulty games. If not, I wouldn't bother unless some sort of difficulty scaling is put into place.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great turn based strategy game. I haven' t played anything else for two weeks now.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun and mildly challenging experience for retro gamers already familiar with old-school, not holding your hand, turn based strategy games from the 90s, such as the Battle Isle saga. If that was your cup of team then go for it, it will bring back memories and set your brain in motion more than a few times. A veteran Battle Isle player such as myself was able to complete the campaign in around 35 hours, achieving all secondary goals in every mission but a few. The remaining hours were used…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I kickstarted this so I had really high hopes. I was hoping it was going to be a spiritual successor to M.A.X. Sadly, even several years after launch it still feels half baked and lacking polish. It is really hard to recommend. I really like the zero sum game aspect. I like games where what you start with is all you got and you have to make the best of it. The resources are largely finite so even though you can build new units there is a limit to how much you can build and repair. Air units…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played it several hours, somwhere around 5. Becasue I was stubborn (and offline) and really, really wanted to see something in it, something that would remind me of Battle Isle back in Amiga days. And did not find it. The game was boring and easy. Dunno, most likely Battle Isle was just like this. But it was damn-a-lot-years-ago and while I'd applaud to idea of bringing classic turn-based spirit, I would expect implementing modern solutions to improve final product.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I cannot recommend this game to friends. They would disown me. So what makes this game bad? Well, if you came here looking for Battle Isle, go somewhere else. Everything from unit movement, to combat, to story, to graphics, just feels cheap. I played a few missions in the campaign and felt like I was wasting my time. There is no hook, no real purpose for doing anything. I also didn't see a free mode where I can build a base and play out a Battle Isle type map with resource gathering and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do you like Chess? Play Chess! This game is boring as hell. Boring graphics, boring sounds, stupid gameplay (melee vehicles). I recommend "Battle Isle IV: The Andosia War".
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There was much potential here, but overall it missed the mark. It has a beautiful game engine, on par with CIV V, with detailed maps and good fx. There are only a handful of units in game, which really takes away from the immersion. The scenarios are interesting but completely unbalanced; many times you will find yourself fighting an infinite wave of fresh enemy units, while your units slowly wither away.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had to make a double take on when this game came out. The graphics are pretty bad, the gameplay is pretty medicore and uh there's nothing really special to put it up above the crowd. I'd pass if I were you.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its just so very dull. Avoid.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →if youre into stupid level difficulty this game is for you. If you play games to relax and unwind go find something else.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Many people said to play the demo. I didn't. I thought: well this is a TBS version of an RTS. Precisely what I was looking for. Did 2 or 3 missions and just can't continue. The opponent AI has way too many units compared to my own. It felt like a grind to complete missions. My advice: heed what the others say: get the demo first.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not until they make a skirmish mode. The repeatability of this game for me is very limited. I only played for a little over an hour and have buyers remorse for purchasing it. I want my money back.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Multiplayer mode has not been working for years it seems (since 2020, see https://steamcommunity.com/app/237470/discussions/0/1850323802579844657/) - only hot seat works. I bought this to play with a friend who lives in another city, turns out, this does not work. The game itself is nice and well made if you liked the Battle Isle series back in the days, but the AI is so abysmal, that single player mission do not pose any challenge, except on your time budget, as in order to win…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great idea but bugs and poor design hurt the over all package. One Example Second mission you fight your way up the coast while trying to outrace enemy reinforcements coming from the south. When you finally get to the north you capture two ports so that you can get reinforcements The ships caring the troops arrive and the game tells you to move them into the harbor building so that they can be unloaded. Problem is that ships will not enter the building thus making it impossible to unload…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i couldnt get past both sides having the exact same units
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like this as its like old Battle Isle and its hard. Not much of a story line or depth to the units ... but still good. But you realise you stuffed up about 4 hours earlier and have to go replay .... not for everyone.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I sometimes felt the game was generating more hours of gameplay by having everything take ages. Kinda wish it had features like increased movement when no enemies in sight or better build speeds etc, and co-ordinating an offence was tiresome sometimes carefully protecting the slow units. Also, the game can seem to generate difficulty mainly by making you outnumbered rather than with advanced tactics, or it'll just drop units unexpectedly on a flank you thought was safe without chance to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At best, a several-dollar fix for your millitary hex grid addiction. The only good thing about it is the battle theme, everything else is executed poorly. I like the "bad guys" more than the "heros". Kinda like Captain Planet
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a review for the finished article. a lot of reviews seem to be for the game while being developed. This is a turn based strategy game in the spirit of battle isle but you already knew that. there are quite a few refinments, tweaks, extras that are not evident straight away but with play become available. such as capturing buildings and powering up units, pickups on the battlefiels such as repair kits and ammo. the AI is brutal and shows no mercy. it will gang up on you exploit…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I backed this on kickstarter and was very disapointed when the game came out. Cheap looking UI, graphics not that great... and really it takes forever to really "get anything done". I think the problems stem around the ratio of big maps to movement speed - and the overall map design. You spend a lot of time getting your army across a bridge to kill a few units - only to have to bottleneck all your units at the next bridge again. I'd probably be more patient with the game if the graphics…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very addictive old school turn-based strategy :-)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, very fun, succeed well to remind me Battle Isle transposed into a modern AAA game, something quite unique in that genre. The campaign is great, with a good length, and with a great diversity in missions. Many maps/missions are quite big and long and that's very cool. The gameplay is rather deep but keep it enjoyable for players not fan of pure wargames. There's a great gameplay diversity along the missions of the campaign. It's a genre that disappeared many years ago. I don't…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The eight hours I spent playing this game was tedious at best. IMHO Panzer General 2 is the gold standard for games of this type for and while this game at first glance tries to do it's best to be a creative spin on it, nothing really comes off as enjoyable in the process. Many others have listed many flaws which I won't double down on. I will just say that unit movement/mechanics do not mesh well with actual map design in a rewarding way which negates good old smart play making the experience…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Maps/Campaigns are poorly designed, with no real concept of pacing. More options does not increase game breadth or depth.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Damn fine strategy game. Think chess but each piece does a lot more, play the demo as I did and bought it straight after
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice setup, but meh AI kinda ruins it. You might enjoy it if you are a fan of advance wars kinda games, or maybe not, because AI is severely meh.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good strategy game, fun to play with an easy interface and simple learning curve. Graphics are nothing to too impressive butthis is a strategy game after all. Both sides use the same units, game mechanics work well but dont expect much here. There are some quirky things in the interface that will frustrate you initially like unloading big carrier ships are ports. there is a lot to keep you busy, with asynchronous multiplayer which is a great feature. In addition to support for ipad and mac. I…
