60 of 176 · most liked firstA turn-based strategy game that goes straight to the point, but probably too much: you choose a mission, you fight, you loot, rince & repeat. There is no plot, no story, no character, nothing. And games end with some kind of "you win" message. Bionic Dues is a game mechanic, properly executed, but not much more. Despite these flaws, many players might still find this game attractive, except than: - loots are boring: they seem to follow the same rarity system than in well-known hack&slashes,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is an interesting game, especially when on sale, there's a lot of playtime for your money. But you have to enjoy tactics and tinkering with abilities. If you are looking for high polish and story-driven adventures, this is not for you. That being said, the higher difficuilties are just frustrating and the achievements like winning with a single bot will only please a glutton for punishment. Totally ridiculous. In addition, the developers tried to be funny smarta$$es with their quips. Maybe…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The combat's fun enough, but ultimately the mech customization suffers from the Borderlands Problem of insignificant option overload, a 3% increase in this vs a 5% increase in that. It just becomes a chore within a couple of missions.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the concept! Never played a game like this before, so I can't really compare it to anything but I like alot of the gameplay mechanics and the esthetic of the map and the bots. Would recommend!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Turn based rogue like with mechs and a lot of abilities. Interface is kinda clunky and hard to navigate though. Music is like wagon carnival or some chill rock party depending on the mission. Visual side is ok and have some complex mech designs. Game have some redeeming qualities like advanced customization and such. Appears to be not that bad but either way hard to recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hi! You're probably here because you got this game super cheap, or free, or in a bundle, and are wondering if it's actually worth playing. Good news: yes, it is! It's a flavor of tactical puzzle you'll not encounter anywhere else. A few tips for having a good experience with Bionic Dues: Play on Ironman. The game vehemently tells you not to, but in fact it's designed quite well to play through accepting your setbacks. Savescumming sucks all the life out of it. Use the "Shorter Campaign"…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Turn-based tactical roguelite with mech customization. You are a mech pilot leading a team of four mechs fighting robot uprising. Carefully choose your path to victory by picking a number of missions. Will you focus on making your mechs powerful, heavily armored or super-stealthy? Or will you perform preemptive strikes to weaken your enemy before final fight? Every playthrough takes between 10 and 20 hours. This is one of the deepest turn-based tactical games I've ever played. High level of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Arcen produces yet another game that has confusing, unsatisfying gameplay loops; deluges the player with a tremendous amount of semi-relevant information, and expects you to triage and sort it; has barely-readable graphics; has a desperate over-reliance on randomization, resulting in bland, unmemorable levels; and feels like it wasn't tested by anyone outside the team working on it. I could copy-paste this review onto basically every Arcen game except for AI War and it'd be equally true.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is too much for my pee wee brain. But I had fun while getting destroyed each time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tried three times to get into this game, but it is just missing any heart. Top-down, turn-based like a successor to the old space-hulk game, but the enemies and allies all look the same, and the game lacks the narrative to keep me interested. Game built on the Unity game engine. It comes with the soundtrack in local files (pretty good synth music, too!) Local files are 300MBs. Played this game on an ubuntu linux 18.10 desktop, with radeon mesa drivers. The game uses a mouse and keyboard for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →-Quick Review- Bonic Dues is a Rogue-like where you play as a Mech wandering through a dungeon in turn-based combat, with procedural generated levels. -Detailed breakdown review- Story: Basically Elon Musk was right and the robot have risen up against us, but humanity still has one more hope: You. ...Well, it definitely wasn't me for my first game, I bombed it really good. Bionic Dues takes place in a future where robots have rebellied and only the best mech pilot can save us all. The…

Should they be allowed to win merely because of the of the gifts God gave them? well I say, 'Cheating is the gift man gives himself.' " Bionic dues is a roguelite game where until very late in the game, every enemy will be bigger, stronger, and tougher than you. What they won't be is smart - the AIs are never clever, and many have funny personality quirks that hinder their combat effectiveness. Take the Thunderbot,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really tried to get into it but everything just felt so ... cheap.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I might have been sad, lonely & depressed back in 2016, but I wasn't a failure. This poop-ass roguelite turned me into one tho.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bionic Dues appears like a simple TBS on the surface, but bubbling underneath is a very strategic and tactical game. The first few missions I died horribly, until I begun to understand the enemy and my own abilities. Enemy bots have strange "features" and its imperative to exploit their weaknesses. Meanwhile, its fun to specialise your own "exos" to be able to perform heroic feats of their own! I now have a huge blast radius grenade launcher, can lay mines that do 1500 damage, and can use…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a pretty short strategy game. I enjoyed it, but i dont think its worth more than 5$. here are some pointers about it: a. its a very difficult game, at least in the beginning. dont even try iron man, i think its impossible. b. The loot system is pretty crappy and its really hard to equip yourself properly. Youre quickly gonna find yourself drowning in items with really long lists of effects and very little way to sort out which ones you should actually use. c. the sounds are really, and i…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →FTL Meets Armored Core This has to be one of the best Roguelikes available, even though it came out in 2013. While the graphics are nothing special, the game is stylistically pleasing with a great sense of atmosphere, sound, and writing. The game takes place in a futuristic and somewhat Cyberpunk Cityscape. The A.I. mechs and robots of the future have gone AWAL on their human counterparts and are taking over the city, threatening all of humanity. You take on the role of one of several…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of favorite games in the 21st century. It has tons of layers and complexity, making it very challenging. Each playthrough forces you to adapt but rarely leaves you completely without a chance. To get up onto the harder settings you have to really learn to use every dirty trick in the book as well as know the enemy thoroughly. I have yet to, and doubt I ever will, get bored of this game. If you like rogue-likes, X-com likes, or strategy games, 100% recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty poor game Avoid. My Score - 1/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was fun until it lasted. It worked well on Linux platform until it started to get huge response delays. Tried repairing, reinstalling with no luck. The next patches haven't fixed that, so needed to delete it. It is sad really, as the game was ok, nice strategy elements with ok graphic.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was first introduced to Arcen games through the AI War franchise, so that was the one that I've experienced for the first time. And as fascinated as I was with the setting, I've heard that Arcen games had more games that were based on the same universe as AI War, an "Arcen-verse" if you will. Since I was curious about the whole universe, I've decided to go through the games. So Bionic Dues is set on one of the earliest events of the chronology of the Arcen-verse, there is a robot uprising on…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bionic Dues is a great tactical game depicting a massive robot army extermination. There is great replayability due to wide variety of possible squad loadouts of your exos and pilots. That combined with difficulty settings and additional modes like permadeath amounts for a big load of achievements to make. There is also a big variety of modules you loot or buy during your campaign that allow you to specialize your exos in different ways, be it raw firepower or range, viruses (turning…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game. I had this on my wishlist for years but removed it because I'm not very fond of classic rogue-like games. When I saw someone from my friendlist clocking many hours on this I asked him why that was because he doesn't play these type of games in general. He told me it's the first game of its kind he actually liked and that was exactly my experience as well. I think there are multiple factors why I like this. The main one is that it's much more streamlined than other games in the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Turn based, strategy rouge-like but you can save during a mission, so I don't know if that is still rouge-like. Game is pretty simple, you move up to 4 robots around to kill the enemy. You have 50 days till the final Boss fight. You can prepare for that final fight by weakening the enemy and collecting better loot for your robots. But I really can't get into it. The game does not look great at all, wich is usually not a problem but it is all just more or less a gray pulp. Sometimes you do not…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Upon first launching this game I was immediately surprised. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFCClIC-ZXs This game has one of the best opening title theme music tracks I have ever heard. Sadly I wish the rest of this game was as good. Gameplay wise this is a hard top down turn based mech rogue-like with an emphasis on loot and min-maxing. It can actually get pretty deep and tactical. However, from the UI to all the models, this game just is so ugly that it harmed the enjoyment for me greatly.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →These guys make some great games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a mess, a classic case of what happens when you let developers completely run the show. From the menus to the robot selection to the actual gameplay, everything is cluttered with massive amounts of unreadable text and an overload of buttons and icons that make it really difficult to tell what is going on and what you’re supposed to do. Once you do, you’ll likely be stressed out by the fact that the game imposed an arbitrary timer by which you need to beat all the levels, or you…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bionic Dues… is kind of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Hear me out. At it’s core Bionic Dues is an OK game. It’s a very simple game about evil robots and you going on a death-march to stop them. Not much depth, no real story, no NPCs to add depth, and the character you pick is little more than a portrait which tags a few extra abilities to you. It’s kind of meh, but not terrible and it’s clear that the devs did try to bring to life some interesting concepts. Sadly their recording equipment is terrible as as much as…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got this from a bundle, sounded exceedingly like my thing, but five minutes of the 1989 DOS style graphics was enough to give this a pass. I don't mind low-budget or crude graphics (especially in a roguelike) but this was just confusing and unenjoyable to look at.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →bionic due me a favor and dont play this game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is really what they call an idie gem. I liked playing this game a lot and I still do when I have a little bit of time. It plays like a squad based top down shooter. Pros: I liked the music a lot. Gameplay Upgrades Mission types Double edged game mechanic (Very basically longer you play game becomes harder) Price Likes. Graphics are not too impressive but its also good for my weak laptop and it's a subjective matter.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ignore the amount played listed against this account, I played this to completion on another account. This is a well balanced and thought provoking tactical game. I'm not quite as fond of it as I am of the flagship Arcen games AI Wars or The Last Federation, but it has many of the same elements - high replayability, a lot of soul and charm, simple but pleasant graphics, and a bit of a steep learning curve. It's more accessible than AIW or TLF but there will still be times when you might feel…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't let the visual simplicity of this game fool you! Bionic Dues is a great strategy game and I had thoroughly enjoyed my first campaign! This game seems to be made with a ton of replay ability in mind so I am looking forward to playing it again in the future!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →maybe on 2013 was a good indie.. but now.... i dont think so..
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's hard to pick out a genre for this game. It's good though. Even if the dungeon presentation is a little samey and the plot is an excuse, the variety of situations you can find yourself in and the fun ways you can get out of them give it a lot of replay value.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a simple 2D top down retro pixel "turn based" tactical shooter where you send a bunch of robots into a series of procedurally generated levels, shoot bad guy robots, loot stuff, rinse and repeat. There's light RPG elements as you can upgrade/progress your robots a little. The retro pixel graphics are bad, there's some hand drawn art as well, that's worse. The interfaces are a bit convoluted and clunky, it's unwelcoming and doesn't engage the player very well. RPGs are the kinds…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Holy ****, bruh, the robots are taking over the hive city! If we don't retake this giant urban trash heap, the galactic government will nuke the site from orbit - it's the only way to be sure the robot rebellion doesn't spread. So kit out your mechs and pilots. Send them site to site. Watch them get royally boned because you know ****-all about what you're doing. Start over. Learn. Tell the rebelling AI to get rekt by feeding it blazing electric death. Turn the place back to The home...that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Somehow this game went under the radar, but the gameplay is solid. I would pick it up on sale though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bionic Dues is ugly, unpleasant ♥♥♥♥. It’s clear that far more time has gone into adding overwhelming detail to the statistics of its turn-based combat and dense walls of text than making the game in any way comprehensible or interesting. It barely feels like it was designed by a person - everything about it is just designed for pure function, with one of the worst overall aesthetic offerings I’ve ever seen and a user interface that just doesn’t even try to make sense to anyone but the person…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Once you get past the early-most of the campaign, this is one of the most hard, tedious, pain-in-the-a** games I have ever played...with enough humor, wit, and charm in it to keep me interested regardless. I don't play it as many hours as I play other games, but I do not truly stop playing it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'll be brief. Into the Breach won steam 2018's strategy game of the year award. IMO this game here has all it take to give ITB several runs for its money. There is a player base that would love this game ..just needs to find it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The more I play it, the more I like it. I bounced off pretty hard on my first try and let it sit untouched in my library for a while, but when I returned I got hooked! Much better than I've imagined. Recommended!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Easy to learn, hard to master.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Initially I found it very confusing, but with a little persistence, I realised the game was really fun. (Is that what unpolished meant, haha) Game cons: Keeping track of what improvements to buy and use was tricky though. And it took a while to realise the column in the city view right was the build up of enemy strength.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bionic Dues is a game for people who really like to fiddle with stuff to get better numbers. You get next to no explanation about what you're doing, it looks like something that came out in the 90s and the interface is rather clumsy (e.g. right-clicking "archives" an item instead of equiping it). A few people will love this game, most will just be confused. I just found the core gameplay to be rather boring compared to Dungeons of Dredmor, which is my benchmark for roguelikes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ha! Gaaayyyyyyy
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun. More fun than a lot of more expensive games. Ultimately it got a little too repetitive for me. But I enjoyed myself enough with the time I played that I can happilly recommend it! (And a lot of people that like video games enjoy what I considered repetitive.)
