Personally, as a Fallout 1/2 fanboy, it's a weird game... it's a well-made spiritual successor, with several improvements and a cool Soviet setting... but I struggle to get past the "I've played this before" mood
unlabelledView post →CRPG sickos might be already aware, but the ATOM RPG team just launched their new game on Early Access: store.steampowered.com/app/2108180/... ATOM was their own take on Fallout 1 & 2, Swordhaven is their take on Baldur's Gate 1 and Icewind Dale. I'm curious to see how the team's craft has evolved.
unlabelledView post →Atom RPG certainly isn't a bad game. The sarcastic humour is there, so are the quirky characters, and I particularly enjoyed the hidden cultural references. Hence I put in quite a large number of hours and finished the game. Unfortunately, there's some choice out there when it comes to turn-based isometric RPGs, and I feel they're better options than this game. Why did you play Atom RPG? I'm a big Fallout afficionado, and I enjoyed FO1 and 2's turn-based combat. Hence this seemed like a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got more frustration than enjoyment from playing this. Love CRPG's, and this looked promising, but there's so much save-scumming and tedious mechanics that it feels like a chore to play. The reviews for this are positive because there's a lot to like for some people, but - for me - I'm not spending time looking up guides for each sidequest or reloading quick saves for every combat encounter.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I honestly didnt expect to enjoy this game nearly as much as I did! especially since CRPGs usually arent my thing. But woah, this one really surprised me. Yes, it can be a bit janky, and its definitely not perfect, but still so enjoyable. The world is so dark, harsh, and absolutely shaped by a nuclear apocalypse… BUT it still manages to be funny in the most unexpected moments. So yeah, a surprise recommendation from me!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like CRPG's, old school (ie, borderline masochistic) vibes, and fallout style, you will like this game. Don't let my thumbs down discourage you from picking it up if you like that stuff. For the average gamer though, I would not recommend this. Let me start with the Good: Vibes - This game does the vibes wonderfully. Story beats and locations are typically good, side quests are generally fun and funny, and lore is really where this games shines. Main story, while it has some pain…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →tl;dr below there's a good game hiding in here somewhere but the writing especially needs serious work. it drags the entire game down with it. the graphics are good, the interfaces are... serviceable (the font choice and CRT effects in the main conversation screen feel particularly like they need some love and care), the engine feels stable and ok to use though it needs to run while you're alt-tabbed from fullscreen, the gear and equipment your character needs to use is straightforward. i like…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shame, I liked so much about this game, how close is to the original Fallout and the sense of survival that was missing in both the old, and new games, but they somehow managed to make the combat worse, and I have no idea how... considering that FO weakest point of the combat. Every enemy is way too overpowered. Your character is supposed to be a "trained" recruit in combat, yet, it constantly misses, and is incapable of dealing any serious damage. A shiv does more damage then a rifle...…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's basically Fallout 1 and 2's forgotten Russian cousin and I mean that as the highest compliment possible. 9/10 Underrated gem. Your Steam library needs this immediately.

unlabelledView post →The game tries to be Fallout but fails in almost every feasible way. It's just a poor imitation. The UI is as bad and debatably worse than Fallout. Questing in this game is a freaking NIGHTMARE. It doesn't help that there's no indication of what building is what that houses an NPC you need to talk to either for a quest or a trade. The worst part about this is that, the devs thought giving every single NPC in this game importance in some way was a good idea. Especially with the names of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is meh, it succeeds in being russian fallout for sure, but it could use some padding behind the scenes. Visuals: while the graphics are just fine, the scenery could be better. Not enough of the walkable locations feel actually unique in a way that makes me want to explore. Town's often feel the same with me rarely wanting to go anywhere but to quest givers or people with skill checks for xp. Dialogue: while the game kind of explains the dialogue loop with "ATOM taught you a list of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The translation is awkward, the racism against Romani comes out of nowhere, and the constant use of the R slur is very, very, very needless
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ATOM RPG feels like somebody locked themselves in a basement with old Fallout games and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl for years and came out speaking fluent post-apocalypse. Everything feels dirty, miserable, and weirdly alive. Broken villages, shady characters, random encounters that go from stupid to deadly in seconds, it’s got that constant “this place sucks” atmosphere that somehow makes you want to keep exploring. Combat’s rough sometimes and the game has plenty of problems,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a good game, very similar to Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics, except it's a very hard game even on normal difficulty. I quit because it was too hard and i don't have time. Wish i i was young and had more time to play. The quests very quickly turn in to very difficult tasks, every decision matters in this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Reviewing (mostly) every game (or DLC) in my library, part 213: ⭐️⭐️⭐️☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ (3/10) There’s a difference between homage and imitation. ATOM RPG wants to be Fallout, but ends up feeling like a stiff cosplay of those classics—janky, lifeless, and bogged down by mechanics that look good on paper but feel awful in practice. The setting should be compelling: a post-apocalyptic Soviet wasteland full of mutants, weirdos, and mystery. But in execution? It’s more Bunker™ brand Chernobyl LARP than…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very good turn-based RPG that feels like a modern take on the classic Fallout games. It has great character customization, plenty of interesting quests and a lot of freedom in how you approach the game. If you enjoyed Fallout 1 and 2, this is definitely worth checking out. 100% steam achievements Time : 110,6H Completion Difficulty : 7/10 Playthroughs : 3 Missables : Yes - several achievements depend on specific choices/actions Guide Recommended : Strongly recommended Notable requirements :…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not really a bad game but I'm grumpy about spending a couple of hours trying to save scum my way through a time sensitive quest to kill some slavers. Game mechanics are opaque and somewhat bizarre, often feeling like the Kafkaesque bureaucracy the game parodies. For example, grenades barely injure enemies, can't be thrown very far or over obstacles, and unless you have invested a ton of points in thrown weapons the grenade will just land at your feet, killing or stunning your character.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game can be beaten casually in about 2 hours by following a quest chain you get from the start of the game that requires you visit 3 locations, 4 locations if you want to visit the "starting town" to get your bearings. So why do I have 27 hours logged in my single playthrough? There is that much to do. This game is formatted almost like a sandbox tabletop campaign where if you just march along as the GM's story requires you miss out on a lot. This is why I approve of this game. 2 hours to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting game.I played for about 20 hours and found myself in too many situations where you get ambushed by heavily armed warbands when all you have are your fists to defend yourself. Automatically dead in such cases. Here's another winner: Early in the game you explore bunker 317. When you come out having collected a whole bunch of loot you can barter or get rubles for, 3 guys with shotguns and pistols are there and you have to try to talk your way out of them killing or robbing you.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They need to add the option to leave a "Neutral" or "Mixed" review. This game is super fun, challenging and creative. the dialogue and writing is great, even translated from Russian as it is. There are a few problems however that stop the game from truly being great. So far, I have not played a "raw" game. The learning curve is hard enough, so i added essential items and skills through the console. It is very hard, even with a mid-level character as i have. I'll list a few issues i have with…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the Fallout 2.5 experience you are looking for. I enjoyed Wasteland 2, didn't enjoy Underrail enough to finish it. Of the three this one feels the most like Fallout. Played it on Easy and really enjoyed the game. The Soviet setting gives it a fresh flavor that yet another US-based Fallout would lack. The best of something new combined with something tried and true. No need for "builds theorycrafting" or any of that work. Just get a few tips from around various forums or web…

Since I’ve been comparing it to the classics all along, I thought it was the right moment to pause and put together a proper review. 🎨 Atmosphere & Worldbuilding The strongest part of ATOM RPG is its atmosphere. It absolutely nails that post-apocalyptic wasteland…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Any game that autosaves, yet managed to not autosave for multiple hours before just crashing and undoing all of that progress, is trash and should be treated as such.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would have liked a technical continuation of Fallout 2 to look something like this. The gameplay stays very close to the classic formula: a world map with random encounters, flexible dialogue options, stealing, lockpicking, trading, and other familiar elements. Combat is also very similar. Battles are turn-based, turn order depends on Sequence, companions cannot be controlled directly, although you can choose their combat behavior before a fight, and weapons have different firing modes,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game went on too long for me (and I played it at 3x timescale whenever possible because good lord you move slow as s**t) it is clearly made by people who understood the assignment when it comes to calling Fallout an inspiration. There's some real passion on display here held up by a game that is truly impressive for its combination of small team and big ideas. ATOMRPG is probably the best it could have been. I'm not sure how much I enjoyed this, personally, as the bonkers translation…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is 20 years late, the lore doesn't help, it's depressing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Combat in this game is terrible, particularly if you have followers. I just had two fights in a row where Fidel screwed me over. First he charges a wolf instead of taking the easy shot at it, this used all his AP and gave the wolves an extra turn. Thankfully those were wolves, next we fought a strong mutant where he finally remembers his pistol... which he uses to shoot me instead of maneuvering and shooting around me. This is all compounded by encounters almost uniformly feeling like expert…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →From what I've heard this is a nice game, unfortuantly I wasen't able to do anything in the game due to the lack of any sort of weeapons, quests, money, items or being able to do any skill checks at any point in the early game. I tried with 3 different charaters (gun focused, unarmed focused and speech focused) and none of them could get past the first area. I imagine it's possible to get passed this first area but the game didn't tell me how so I cannot reccomend it unless you can really…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Atom RPG is one of the best post-apocalyptic CRPGs out there. The Soviet setting is a breath of fresh air - and let’s be honest, it’s the game’s major selling point. Which is fine by me. I’m a sucker for alternate history and it’s always nice to see post-apocalyptic games made outside the USA. The writing is good. I appreciated the humour. The memes are a tad too much. I loved the occasional sarcasm though. I actually liked most dialogues. There are a lot of NPCs but they never felt boring or…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A GEM of a game, when you are hungry for more fallout, this fills the appetite so well, I almost feel like I playing fallout. lol
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's like the first Fallout game in a Soviet setting. Once you get used to it, the game isn't that bad and offers a lot of options. The developers are doing their best to squeeze even more out of the game, which is great!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i played this game for about 6 and a half hours and hated everything about it starting around hour 2. i played it again after finding a couple videos on yt that explained the very specific way to build my character in order to make the game playable. then i had a blast playing it for weeks. i don't know what any of this ultimately says about the game. nor do i know what it says about me. but the grass outside is calling. do whatever feels right for you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think there's a phenomenon with crpgs where people remember their 20th playthroughs of some old 90s game, confuse that with their initial experience, and then go forth designing games with that confusion in mind. It's a fine enough game. It quotes fallout so much its basically a cover song. But its more boring than challenging, because its so painfully incremental in its curve, and the system otherwise feels too basic and by the numbers to push forward with save scumming and all the dice…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're a fan of the original Fallout series, you'll love it. It feels like Fallout 1 & 2 with better features. The only downside are the English translations. A lot of the time it's just odd dialog, but you get what they were going for lol.

The writing even if the English was good, would be terrible. People don't act like people in the slightest. The ai is also very bad, especially your allies.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Backed this on Kickstarter ages ago and it sat in my library forever, but I finally decided to give it a real shot. If you loved playing Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 back in the day, you will feel right at home. It’s an incredible blast from the past, I’m thoroughly enjoying it, and I am officially promising myself that I’ll see this one through to the end.

If you like classic Fallout and/or stalker, metro etc. generally speaking post apocalyptic themes, you have to play this cRPG. Solid 8/10 Pros: +Multiple viable combat builds +Lots of skill or stat checks +Some quests actually allow these checks to be applied in dialogue and that can lead into a solution +Quests and characters are interesting +Dialogue is not cringe, generally well written +Combat is very fun and fluid +Side…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another year and another game I was looking for boy what a mixed bag from the creators of ATOM RPG this #CRPG started promising but had some very frustrating features from very boring character builds , to a bland main story and and an unexpected plot twist that just came out of left field.
unlabelledView post →I didn't continue playing the game because I found the world uninteresting and the dialog quite annoying, there is a common annoying trend with modern RPG games, this trend is that *let's out an exhasperated, long sigh* they keep using [roleplay talk]. This is a game, an audiovisual medium, not a book, don't write roleplay type of talk, use audio or visuals to express what you want the characters to convey, write the story and dialog in a more interesting way, remove useless dialog in general…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This really is Russian Fallout 1-2 with better graphics. It's about the size of Fallout 2 (with a similar amount of annoying world map backtracking) although the setting feels more like Fallout 1 to me. It plays very faithfully, including some questionable choices (like the slow map movement, uncontrollable companions and clunky inventory) but if you could handle them in Fallout, you can definitely handle them here. For me, ATOM's best quality is recapturing the mystery of Fallout 1. With the…

So if you like RPGs, then give it a try. Honestly don`t have anything outright negative to say about it. Well... I guess outside couple of annoyances like its not convenient to transfer stuff…

Your trained character hears a noise, sloooooowly stands up, doesn't bother grabbing their rifle next to them, just stands there like an idiot as 5 guys with makeshift melee weapons slooooooooowly surround you. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was interesting at 1st , until i understood its a save-scum simulator with only a couple locations that look worked on / have content, tbh there is more content in random encounters than named locations, combat is meh , even on normal if something crits you or knocks you down you can reload . Has a lot of potential with the crafting and the whole idea as did Fallout 1-2 , but this should be worked on a bit more as it just feels unfinished.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Their previous game Atom RPG and its expansion Trudograd are very very good isometric crpg lovers and people who like their actions having meaningful consequences on the world and characters.
