What people are saying
Most players enjoy the co-op shooter, but many cite bugs and lack of content.
Many players praise the game's fun co-op gameplay, toon-shaded graphics, and fast-paced action. They find it exciting and challenging, with satisfying gunplay and a great atmosphere for playing with friends. [3][7][16]
However, a significant minority criticizes the game for lacking checkpoints, having poor hit detection, and feeling unfinished or too short. Some also note the AI is basic and the single-player experience is not well scaled. [2][27][30][34]

41 of 41 · most liked firstThis feels like someone's first fps game. I like the aesthetics, and nothing else, really. It lasts like 30 minutes, max, has braindead basic AI, and the level design is very straightforward. It's empty.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game but without a save an old man like me cannot keep starting over.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've enjoyed every minute playing it. The unique stylized graphics are awesome and really add to the overall experience. Highly recommend giving this game a try!

Assault on Proxima: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Proxima C5 is one of the outer space stars that had been colonised by humans by the year 2915. But recently, Proxima C5 was invaded by a powerful and dangerous alien race known as the Gacrux. You have been sent with your squad, Strike Force Delta, to Proxima C5 as the lead force to defeat the invaders and reclaim…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this is the first game to actually drive me to write a review: visuals are nice but this game should not have been released yet. There's nothing to really do, no sense of achievement for completing missions as theres nothing to gain or grow on. Enemies just respawn and you quickly figure out you just need to run to each objective without any need to fight look at my play time, thats how quickly i got bored lots of potential, sadly currently disappointing to be more specific: - all enemy AI…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Potential to be a fun game but the hit detection is abysmal and the enemies are brain dead and get stuck on the environment. It needs a lot of work but I do applaud the effort. Hopefully more will be done with it in the future.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a mixed bag. I played this single player on Steam Deck, and I can't say that I feel like this is a full game. I'm giving this a negative review purely because of the amount of problems I experienced and the amount of content available. I was going to give it a positive review, but there's just too much wrong about it to justify telling others to buy it in the current state, especially for $10. I hope more games like this come out that do a better job, but this just isn't it. Pros -…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little game to pick up. You play as one of four classes that you can switch on starting level or if you died. They basically give you different stats like armor and health amount among other stats. You pick your weapons on starting level and clear objectives. combat feels smooth, headshots are very satisfying. Cool movies and cutscenes and bossfights. There are a few minor bugs though, but nothing gamebreaking.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I absolutely love the Halo Reach vibes in this game, down to the UI and Weapon Types with better SFXs. The level design is really open and feels very lively, like there's really stuff to explore. I really enjoy the moment to moment experience because this game is challenging for a reason, it requires co-operative teamwork and it's really fun to coordinate with friends.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I dont know how anyone can play this game and not have fun...super fast pace...exciting...challenging...good graphics...just an overall good time!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It won't allow me to change the camera sensitivity or the zoom. I hit Apply and Accept and no matter what it stays on default. It's a sad situation. I like everything else about the game and it most definitely has potential. But when you make a Fps , kinda sorta play other Fps Shooters and see what they get right and copy their mechanics.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had a chance to play *Assault on Proxima* in greater detail, and I have many thoughts. The graphics are amazing; that was my initial impression. Toon-shaded graphics really stand the test of time. To all those who say it's "childish," I respectfully disagree. Toon graphics combined with great gameplay is a national treasure. The variety of guns is impressive, and as a natural sniper, I found it to my liking. The enemy variety is also amazing. I also want to discuss the level design aspect.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Assault on Proxima's impressive co-op mode is all about storming aliens together. The game features stunning graphics and immersive sound effects. Players can team up with friends to take on waves of alien enemies in co-op play. The game offers a variety of weapons, which adds to the challenge of fighting off the alien forces. Although the storyline could have been more developed, and the game's difficulty level could be a bit too high for some players, Assault on Proxima is a solid choice for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is simply astounding!! It delivers a pure, old-style, adrenaline-fueled and merciless first-person shooter experience. From the moment you start playing, you're immediately immersed in a fast-paced and intense campaign that keeps you on the edge of your seat. If you expect to beat a level at the first attempt, either you a God of the FPS or you'll be disappointed. Get ready to swear like a sailor and repeat the level dozens of times and get better and better. Although the graphics…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This shows potential but is sadly unpolished. The game feels like it's meant to be played in 4 player coop and single player difficulty isn't scaled. However the worst thing is the hit detection and it sadly makes this unenjoyable. It is early accessed so some of these things maybe ironed out and if they are I'll reevaluate my review but I cannot recommend this game in it's current state.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Assault On Proxima is a fast-moving science-fiction shooter developed by Delta Video Games and published by indie.io, built around the idea of constant action, cooperative firepower, and accessible arcade-style combat. Rather than chasing realism or simulation-heavy gunplay, the game embraces a bold, energetic approach that prioritizes responsiveness, spectacle, and momentum. From the moment players are dropped onto the hostile world of Proxima C5, the experience makes it clear that its primary…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its pretty rough I feel like some of the updates before 1.0 were better. Hit registration is inconsistent, enemy AI is... something.... the second act is likely never going to happen so the game is technically in an unfinished hiatus state unless they come back to it after Mythrealm releases. As it stands there is only 5 levels and they are all pretty subpar. The bot modes are working finally but that damn bug that makes you hear every characters voice is back in 1.0. Female model variations…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →where do I start.. first the negative reviews seem to be just trolls because me and 2 teammates just got done sinking 3 hrs into it and it was a lot of fun, it is fast paced and thats whats fun, limited ammo so you have to find ammo and health regens also fun, constant non stop respawn of enemies also fun, run around and finding better weapons also fun, picking up dead boss weapon and kick a$$ also fun so yes buy it it is well worth it and will support dev so we get more missions, no glitching…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tried getting into this, but this feels like a terrible first attempt at a mobile FPS or something, its trash.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a review of the single-player campaign only. Assault on Proxima presents you with visually impressive graphics and captivating environments but that's where the positives end for this game. The bland soundtrack and absence of impactful sound effects fail to immerse you, leaving the experience feeling incomplete. The disappointment continues with the underwhelming boss battles, who are mere bullet sponges with predictable behavior and lackluster AI. They have no special attacks so all…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The low poly graphics in this game are a masterpiece. Very nicely done environment. I gave this game a chance and I was not disappointed, I recommend it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was going to be kind on this and either just not review it or give it a loving soft thumbs down but for the crimes of maliciously bashing my cpu for no reason on levels 2,5 and after the boss battle where the end movie just hangs there while it says cpu utilization in the steam overlay is over 100% and slowly rising into the 80's celcius I figure I should at least warn people against this alone. additionally I think every single boss enemy I just ran 10 feet to the nearest geometry cheese and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this on sale and for $4.99. I didn't buy this for the PvP Multiplayer, but for the Co-op. What I got was 5 campaign stages with 4 player coop. I can't really complain too much as the game is fun, fluid, and functional. For $5, it is what it is. If I bought it full price though I'd probably be more upset.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had a fun time playing with the dev and we played through the whole playable levels released. It was playable, there were things like checkpoints I thought needed to be added. Dev confirmed that its a working mechanic he needs to still impliment across all levels.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly an interesting Idea, for what feels like an asset flip game. The game has some good foundations, "cutscenes" even and a decent menu.. but everything else feels poorly done. Weapons feel good to use, but they suffer with the poor hit registration and small to no feedback from enemies. Combat is.. okay, but enemies keep respawning sometimes behind you and often under the scenery. The Class skills aren't very diverse and I never really felt the need to change classes at all. Once you…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun game get on sale very shot. pvp is a ghost town
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game! The lead developer is amazing! A little buggy with the reloading and some other things. Although, the game has a lot of potential. I had a lot of fun playing the first 3 levels of it. Enjoyable game. I am sure the developers worked really hard on this game. All praises to the developers! :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun game experience..Made by dedicated indie developers. Difficulty is spot on..Enough to give the player a challenge without getting frustrated Game runs very smooth i have a 175hz monitor and i get max fps..Runs like butter overall i enjoyed my time spent playing assault on proxima visually appealing graphics make a nice interesting atmosphere
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To keep in mind that this is the developers FIRST ever release and it is still in beta, I had a LOT of fun with this with a few friends. There is the odd thing that needs to be checked over like the lack of checkpoints (the only MAJOR gripe I have), a few wall clips, score board and the class selection being bugged out, this was a VERY well created game! Looking forward to Act 2 in Q4! GREAT WORK!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simply being able to play a CO OP campaign makes this perfect for a good couple hours of fun. We played through the campaign as 3 of us in roughly 2 hours (taking our time of course to enjoy the game) Its a space shooter, the enemies are pretty straight forward - some of them take a few rounds but it works. You can die all you want, switch guns etc at any death so you are not tied in to what you first pick. Can see this being good fun as it expands and probably enough to fill a whole night of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really cool game! Had a blast playing it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loving this game so far. Graphics and gameplay are top notch. Music is a plus. The game is this good in Early Access. pretty amazing i.m.o. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuHCfcl8I9E&t=107s
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →AOP is fresh take on a Classic FPS game that is very challenging and fun to play. The Art style really sets the tone and reminds me of borderlands. Plays very well for an early access game and I haven't noticed any real bugs.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It the best space fps game i ever played
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Had a lot of fun playing this game. The art style, music, and weapons are all fun. If you want to sit back, enjoy great visuals and shoot a bunch of aliens then I couldn't recommend this game enough. The devs are great people too!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun and engaging game! And at least for me, the exact amount of difficulty. Not so easy that you can easily beat every level, but not difficult enough that it can make you get frustrated. I really enjoy the art style and toon style graphics also. Really recommend for anyone that is looking for a fun, exciting game to pass the time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Assault On Proxima is a great and exciting adventure to an alien world! In the game you fight tons of aliens and shoot em to pieces. The gunplay is excellent and the weapons feel impactful. The enemies are dangerous and a challenge to beat! The most fun thing about the game is teaming up with your buddies to take down the aliens and beat the bosses! The game levels are fun to explore and the music is exciting and atmospheric. This is clearly an indie game, and it's quite short, so probably…
