60 of 76 · most liked firstI really want to like this game but it feels too much like it's early access. There's too much wrong with it. You can't change characters mid mission unless you resupply even if your squads are completely healthy and toppped up. This wouldn't be problem if not for the fact that resupplying eats up a limited Rotation Point. Tanks get stuck in trenches all the time which might be historically accurate but incredibly annoying. Some of these defense missions are just slogs, they take way too long…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun. a more immersive Running with Rifles in my opinion, as you have regenerative health out of combat, your also able to slide and roll. This game has 3 different game modes but 90% of my playtime is just in one mode, battlefield mode. this mode has RPG like elements and your able to attempt a "no death" run which is my personal favorite. the stages you play on have historical significance and the game provides a brief description as to why, the game also tracks your stats for each…

You play as a commander in those classic battles, leading your troops to defeat the enemy in a top-down view. Two Modes There are two modes in the game - Campaign and Battlefield. The campaign mode is more competitive. You have to unlock the maps one by one. In this mode, your resources are limited, so you need to pay more attention to win the war, which will put your command abilities…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a good game for the price. Feels a bit like men of war light edition. Only complaint i have about it is that the maps and cover feel too close to the same each map.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →disagree with the gameplay choice of including tesla rifle into the game when i saw the button of experimental weapons, i was thinking about rare prototypes, like a semi auto conversion for lee enfield. but not tesla rifle enlisted showed us that there are enough prototypes that exists on blueprints already such that you don't need to shove sci fi stuff in the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well I am updating my review, they did put out a big change to the game, and man is it "fun" but urgh I wish Steam had a review without a thumbs up or down, because right now I can't give this a thumbs up. they practically removed an entire faction from the game with the update. You can't use the German faction in the new mode, only China !? o.0 for whatever baffling reason, and Russia that makes more sense. But not Germany... the whole reason i bought the game in the first place. So…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mix of Running with Rifles and Foxhole. Arcadey, funny and fun. You have even rouglike game mode or sandbox where you can level up your solider and get some funny and chaotic perks like doing a headshot = explosion, apply bleeding on enemy, ect.. pick many different classes each time you respawn, one class is called "Iron Man"...yes ! From a regular weak soldier building up to becoming Jonh Wick on battlefield. Then you have tactical game mode or Classic, where you spend supplies calling in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not too serious but it's also not too arcady. I like this middle ground. Eastern front and China theater are also nice bonuses that you don't usually get to play in other WW2 games For a small indie game it has got surprisingly good depth and some historical accuracy. Definitely needs official controller support tho. It should be totally doable for a top-down shooter.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is in a very unpolished, Early Access-esque state. Devs are incredibly slow to update. Stay away from this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worth every american penny spent. Needs better controller support but mouse and keyboard works great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game but not everything is translated and I have no idea what it says
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have to say, even thought it is Chinese dubbed, which is making it a bit weird, since it is based on German invasion of France, even German - Soviet war, but it is still great. Like those posters, how german army conquered Paris, gets feeling, as if playing Hearts of Iron 4 with that one, but actually playing in a squad in a real time, would love to play an opperation campaign, when you can get restricted resources, according how much you are winning in the war, and similar conditions.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For a little indie game, this is really high quality, and the new battlefield mode finally lets me choose my own missions, which actually made me come back to this game, but I don't really know what else to say so uhhhh, this game is worth it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun game. Would be a masterpiece with Workshop support; and, not just maps either. Allowing modders to create new units, vehicles, weapons, factions, campaigns, ballistics, etc would make this a timeless classic. Edit: Nerf mortars. Completely broken against tanks. Need bigger artillery added to counter tanks.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Trench Lord: Eastern Front is an ambitious hybrid war game that blends top-down tactical command with moment-to-moment action, placing players directly into the chaos of World War II’s Eastern Front. Developed by Tracer Studio and LING YUN CO., LTD. and published by Gamersky Games, the title sets out to capture the scale and brutality of large-scale warfare without losing the immediacy of personal involvement on the battlefield. Rather than leaning fully into pure strategy or pure shooter…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Trench Lord is a clever 2D shooter in the vein of Running with Rifles or a single-player Foxhole, but set explicitly in the Eastern Front of World War 2, featuring the Soviet Union and Wehrmacht forces (albeit rendered in cute, polygonal format). The primary appeal of this game, though, is that it mixes large-scale, 2D shooter mayhem (very much like battles in Running with Rifles) with squad-based tactical combat and maneuvering (complete with weapons teams, vehicle crews, and a suppression…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No controller options, this is best played with controller. Game is amazing, but the controls on a keyboard is uncomfortable. Think of something like playing mario on a keyboard and BRING MULTIPLAYER.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun, very diverse, constant updates and new content, good price; Recommended to everyone! Especially the campaign is very much worth it + the good news is that more campaigns will follow. TIP: The demo is an 'old' version. Expect the actual game to be much better quality (bugs in demo are resolved in early access version)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun and easy to get into. Both the campaign and battlefield mode offers a good amount of replay-ability. Features a wide variety of weapons and vehicles and the maps are well put together. There are a few minor bugs at the time of writing this review, but that is expected for an early access game and none of them are game breaking. An easy recommend for top down shooter fans.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Edit: It's unfathomable to me how good this game is. Well done! I wish more people knew about it. Wow, excellent. I can rebind every button on the keyboard! It reminds me a bit of Army Men :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty fun topdown action wargame. Played a bunch of the demo, decided to go ahead and buy. The controls are a little clunky, but at least it has key rebinds. Translation is also a little rough here and there, but overall it's perfectly acceptable. This is basically to Foxhole what Easy Red 2 is to Battlefield: a single player iteration of a well known PvP game, and anyone tired of the frustrations of PvP will appreciate it. Though time will tell if these devs are as active as the ER2 devs.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, love it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best top down shooter i've played, i buy this game in the end of 2024 and the dev really put a lot of love into this game i hope i can do fps mode just like GOH but the current game is already good IMO
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is AMAZING highly recommended
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Truly a top down easy red 2, which is a compliment. Only shame is that there’s no coop
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring, repetitive even within a single mission....janky controls and aimming....unfair as well.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →China played a major role in resisting Japanese militarism during WWII, sacrificing more than 35 million lives for victory. The world must never forget this truth, and we must work together to ensure that war never happens again.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good shooter, pro communist, fun!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finally a game where the main force is the heroic red army ☭🚩
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a fan of the camera & controls.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best WW2 game of 2026, I have been waiting on a game that focus mainly on the Eastern front and the Chinese front for so so long, this game satisfied my urge to play as the NRA. The music is also fire, Im excited for more contents!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game as alternative to Foxhole. It offers a unique take on the traditional Foxhole experience. The absence of drama and logistical grind makes it a welcome respite from the chaos that often comes with playing this type of war simulation. I appreciate how I can drop in and start playing without being burdened by the need to spend hundreds of hours building and managing resources like in Foxhole. This allows me to focus on what matters most - the gameplay. The lack of unnecessary…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Chinese games > western games :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a good game. There aren't many projects about the Great Patriotic War. The game isn't perfect, but it doesn't claim to be. It's just a good game. This game will keep you hooked for several hours or even several days, like it did me. Personally, I think it's a really cool game. Хорошая игра. В принципе мало проектов по великой отечественной войне. Игра звёзд с неба не хватает, но она и не претендует на это. Это просто хорошая игра. Эта игра затянет на несколько часов или на несколько…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game stuck on HQ level in prologue after the first mission
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really enjoyable game despite some rough edges and a bit of jank. The vehicle variety, progression and large-scale battles are a lot of fun, and I ended up enjoying it much more than I initially expected. I really hope the developers keep expanding the game with more campaigns, vehicles, missions or other content. There are definitely a few things that could use polishing, but I’d happily play a lot more of this if additional content is released. Definitely recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is in rough shape, i was shocked when i realized its not even an early access title... Vehicle aim is so jumpy that its almost unusable (aim ping pongs between any targets near your crosshair), bullets will randomly go through objects that they def shouldnt be traveling through, AI is often unresponsive, and if you jump the gun on unlocks- when a tutorial pops up instructing you to unlock something you've already unlocked, it just completely bricks your game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the ai in this utilises cover really well for this kind of game, incredibly satisfying as a running with rifles fan
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Similar to Running with Rifles but it doesnt have that tedious spawning far fromt the front lines stuff. You can go alone or helped by your team altough it's more advisable to use one man at a time and try to not get killed or flanked. Fun game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Graphics are awesome. Gameplay... Well, it is not bad. But it is not for me, unfortunately. I would give it 4/10.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Plays excellently on Steam Deck, with a bit of tailoring to the controls. I have created a custom Controller Profile which is very close to Running With Rifles, on Steam Deck. Gameplay is excellent, It’s much like Running With Rifles but with more depth and strategy. The AI and gun play don’t feel quite as good as RWR, but the campaign mode is excellent. The battles are roughly 20-30 minutes long, and they are mostly Hold-the-Point style. The guns sound great and the tanks feel fairly…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’m a massive fan of Running with Rifles. It’s cliché—and honestly an undersell—to call this game just a Chinese version of it. I see it more as a peer in that niche space. (Also just learned RWR 2 is in the works… that’s gonna be a banger.) This is an isometric shooter that really emphasizes movement and precision. You can walk, crouch, and go prone for cover, and the game does a great job showing where your bullets will land and what blocks them. There’s a campaign and a roguelite…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i bought this game for 8 dollars and it has been an absolute blast i hope the developer continues supporting it!! would love to see the ui bugs fixed!! BUT i don't think i can beat an $8 game i've had this much fun with that released on my birthday :3 i do not recommend buying when the game is not on sale, will update review if bugs are fixed!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty good game, the campaign mode is better than I expected and there's a few other modes to choose from, but so far I think the campaign is the best one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is great. Wish i could play as japan, but such is life. we need a way to bring back the tanks and infantry battleground mode. Some of the most fun ive had in this game was sacraficing myself to take down a tank so we could win a push.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Entertaining game, the infantries and tanks are all fun. The aiming for the rifles is a bit frustrating if the target is hiding behind some half cover, the automated infantries do not seem to share the aiming problem that the human players might experience, hopefully this get fixed soon.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good for what it is. 8-10 for me. -1 Optional - Infantry battles lacking tanks for AI both sides (Yes I know they are in tank battle specifically but not seeing them during infantry maps that have the space for it. ruins part of the immersion. Yes I know it would make it more challenging). -1 Workshop support (Custom maps, units, vehicles) Would be awesome !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a fun little themed shoot 'em up with half a semblance of realistic combat. You won't be disappointed as long as you don't expect a real story out of this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this on sale and enjoyed it. While I did have fun, I also expected the editor mode which is still not available. I exercise caution when purchasing if your expecting it soon since the devs lack communication. They are also working on a new game so im doubting it would release anytime soon. If there is no update within the year regarding the editor mode and next campaign, I'll most likely change to not recommend. The campaign is fun for both sides. The upgrade system needs a bit more…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Elefant and Jagdtiger are so fxxking OP lol even ISU-152 can't do any ♥♥♥♥ against them
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's like foxhole
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not sure if anyone that developed this game actually opened a book about ww2 or not, but if the Russians had that much equipment and men during operation Barbosa then the war would have ended in 43/44. I mean I get trying to add some difficulty but this is just silly lol. Needs alot of work on alot of other stuff too from controls to actual damage etc. Will check it out again in a few patches once they get the balancing fixed but for now I would save your cash.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, could use a lot of polish and some qol tough.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is awesome
