NOTE: Don't buy this version but instead, take a look at “A.R.E.S. Extinction Agenda EX” which is essentially an upgraded version of the game. I'm only recommending this game based on my experience before the new version released. http://store.steampowered.com/app/315340/ TL:DR? See Conclusion INTRODUCTION: A.R.E.S. Extinction Agenda is a 2.5D side scrolling action platform game that attempts to fill-in for the Mega Man (Rock Man) drought. Like the aforementioned Mega Man series, this game…

Presentation in this game is fine, the graphics are okay. I really struggled with the control system and the character is too large. Pretty sure a double-jump covers almost the height of the screen! There didn't seem to be any way to remain stationary and fire at a diagonal which was really my main gripe. If there is a way around this then someone let me know and I'll go back in game and have another play and rewrite this review.

A.R.E.S.: Extinction Agenda is a game that I recommend because: - it has an acceptable price - it has action - it is a good indie - it is classic - it is a method to banish boredom - it has a good concept - it has trading cards Enjoy!

A real gem of a platformer. I loved the currency system in here as you can replay previous missions to collect more recycled parts to create power-ups and upgrades to your character's weapons. The actual levels are very well designed, there are plenty of jumping puzzles which can get frustrating but it's still a required feature in any platformer. I really enjoyed using the plasma field weapon, you feel pretty overpowered while using it, although you are far from it as you will find…

A.R.E.S. Goes EXtinct This is not a bad game, it is actually pretty decent. It looks great, has solid gameplay featuring some cool weapons, and decent level design. However, it does suffer from being way too short and lacking difficulty. That is not why I'm not recommending this game though. The reason is that they have an IMPROVED version for the SAME price now available! If you are interested in this title, then stop now and head to the A.R.E.S. Extinction Agenda EX page!

Bought it during the sale. But then figured out, that there is no sense to buy it at all! As there is A.R.E.S. Extinction Agenda EX - enhanced and updated version of A.R.E.S. without possibility to update Agenda to Agenda EX. So DON'T buy THIS version of game - it's USELESS! Proceed to EX version directly, instead. https://store.steampowered.com/app/315340/ARES_Extinction_Agenda_EX/

I'm not the kind of guy to go around calling games soulless, but in this case I don't want to waste time. A.R.E.S. is a miserable, joyless experience hacked together from a gross misunderstanding of all that is good about platformers. It does nothing well, is thick with boneheaded design choices, and won't even last you much more than an hour even if you DID enjoy it. I feel like that should be enough to ward anyone off of it, but just to be sure I'll happily dig further into the trash pile…

Short, repetitive, grindy. Sidescroller with some Metroidvana elements like different weapons and armor, which is great. The downside is you only get a couple of levels, which are all rather short. To get to the good stuff (a.k.a. high tier weapons & armor) you'll have to play the same levels again... and again... and again... and *snore* sorry, got bored. Stay away, there are better options out there.

This is an easy game to beat. It has only 5 stages, each has one mid-boss and a stage boss. You start out with just a simple gun and a simple moveset, and you unlock more variations when you move on. In my opinion, when you are playing sidescrolling platformers using a keyboard, you are playing it wrong. So a controller is highly recommended. I like how the different gun types are designed to be used for different kind of playstyle and situation instead of the boring strength/weakness thing.…

A.R.E.S.: Extinction Agenda is a game that can't make up what it wants to do besides make you grind. You need to collect random drops the upgrade things, but you can't look around, and everything immediately respawns as soon as you move off the screen. This creates for a pretty unsatisfying play through as nothing is ever completed, along with a lack of ability to "look" up or down, you can't tell if the pit is a death pit, or just a drop. Monsters that are 1 pixel off screen, won't take any…

I'm reviewing this game as it's in a bubble. There's an updated version of the game, that interested people should get. It seems to be just an improved version of A.R.E.S., if so, that's what you want. A.R.E.S. is almost a Mega Man game. You get a character which has a array of guns, who runs through levels populated by enemies, and beats them by shooting them. However this game falls short of that mark because a few features. While the hero doesn't defeat enemies and get their powers,…

this is a good mega man clone. it does take a bit to get used to the controls as you aim and shoot with the mouse and use the keyboard for movement and jumping but this lets you shoot anything in a 360 degree arc. (i didn't bother trying a controller because if i can't use the analog stick with fps i wasn't gonna try it here) the upgrades, armors, and new weapons are nice and make the game fun. i only have 2 issues with is game though. 1)jumping is not perfect and i had issues getting up the…

How did it all go so wrong? You had decades of platformers to look back on to get it right. This is not a bad game per sé, but I could find faults with nearly every aspect of it without trying. As hommage to Megaman (I presume), your starting suit is bad. That's fine as you get the better suit quickly, but the weapon upgrades are something else. I only upgraded the Wave Emitter because a gun shooting through walls seemed OP. It is, and incredibly so. It made the game completely trivial until…

This is a 2D platformer shooter with a very arcadey look. It doesn't bring much to the old, dead genre and there's technical limitations which give it the thumbs down. The animations are pretty bad, really clunky and not smooth. Controls are awkward and cludgey. The enemies are all very samey and boring. You can't set your resolution above 1080p, which was a popular gaming resolution about 6 years ago. Worth giving a miss.

It's a good game. Think Mega Man X series game play. Controls are a little different and take some getting used to. I used a controler and didn't think it was that bad. I enjoyed the story and the music too. It's a short game but there is some replay value if you liked it enough to go back and find all the secrets. As for all my reviews, buy it on sale. haha 7.5/10

Cooler story for a more modern and adult Megaman style game. More customisation and fun in my opinion. Bosses feel much more impressive than you, easy or hard to your taste, beating them doesn't feel like you just won a piece of a puzzle. You gain currency to buy upgrades, controls are good with a controller IIRC. This review has been a while past playing. Stopped for reasons I can't recall but not for lack of enjoyment. Trashman time!! A.R.E.S.:Extinction Agenda is a megaman inspired platform shooter, it's a little on the short side with only a handful of stages, although those stages are well designed and full of secrets to find. The game controls mostly well but I feel like if they had of made the jump a bit higher or more fluid it would add a lot to the gameplay. Other complaints include that the screen is a bit too zoomed in for my tastes and that you need to constantly craft consumable grenades to blow up…

While short (i think 5 or 6 stages) those stages are well designed, and have enough collectables to make you go through them enough times trying to hunt down all the upgrades. Let's start with the basics. Some people compare this game to Megaman X games, others compare it to 2D Metroid games. And unfortunately, in my opinion, it is neither as grand as Megaman in weapons nor as Metroid in the coined "metroidvania" style. It may be, however, the exact opposite: linear levels with arguably-not-really secrets with some extra collectibles and the depth of Metroid's weapons (as in, a few and extremely situational). And if you want a bottom-line here on top, here it is:…
