I'm really on the fence about 3 Stars of Destiny. For all the interesting gameplay mechanics it has and the general enjoyment of other games from RPG developer Aldorlea Games, there are enough problems to warrant a skip for anyone looking to try out yet another fantasy-based RPG. We all know the problems with RPGMaker. That software has allowed anyone with a will and a few hours to spare the ability to pop out a carbon-copy clone and put it on Steam, to the detriment of the genre as a whole.…

Another RPG maker brand of game. Very similar to the likes of Aveyond which I finished a couple of months ago in that it is a party based RPG. There was nothing really special about this game. All very samey throughout. I did find myself getting bored towards the middle of the game. You obviously need to spend a lot of time grinding levels in order to equip certain items you find in the game in order to progress past a certain boss, and it became quite tedious to grind on random spawn…

I loved playing this game it has a active story feeling to it as well it can be funny and challenging. The color scheme feels stable. The action is fun and satisfying. I also love finding the secrets. It really gives off thaat good old adventure feeling when playing.

Do you remember the olden days of Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and what not ? This game looks like it would be the same, but do not be deceived, it is not. I tried to give it a chance, but the dreadful characters, the nonsensical way of doing things, the constant "poisoned/tired" cycle, the fact that you do not heal up when levelling up (wasn't that a thing once ?) and the way your characters express emotions in conversations (*chuckles* ? Could you not just have drawn a different portrait to…

i have no idea if the rest of the game is good, but it does not mater, even in the beginning area there is so much missable and random bs that you would have to buy their guide to know about or be completely screwed over, oh hey the weapon shop sells these badass elemental swords, i better go save up some money and come back and buy them at 900 gold apeice, hey where are the swords? i have the money now... nope guess what the guy only offers it once, EVER guess you should have already grinded…

I have played through the game and beaten it twice and enjoyed every moment of it. I'd definitely recommend to anyone looking for something fun and simple to play, while still having enough of a challenge to be interesting. I found the characters charming and the interactions to be amusing and while the story wasn't amazing, it wasn't boring either. Pros: +Nice selection of party members with different skillsets to appeal to any sort of playstyle. +Really lovely artwork in the battles…

This game isn't worth a single penny, there are better rpgmaker games you can get for no cost. Even though I got this game for free, I still didn't think it was worth playing. The art is mediocre, the writing is disasterous, the enemy design and the environments look ugly, the music is repetitive and generic, and the characters are unlikable. And the main character's name is Random. Yea, that's his name...Random. Go buy something else for $15.

I am really enjoying 3 Stars of Destiny. If you dont like RPGMaker Games then this isn't for you. Personally I find the full maneuverablity with the mouse, story and graphics more appealing compared to older JRPG titles which can be cumbersome with their controls (except for Kemco on IOS). It does take about a good 3 hours to get into the meat of the story and battles and I personally found it rewarding onwards from the Mt Zulle Trials onwards. The fact that you can choose what mode (Casual to…

Ah, now this brings back memories! I remember spending hours and hours on some of the best old school RPGs out there, and Indinera's (aka Damien) works are not exception. That's actually where my username comes from - Laxius Power, the series that started it all. I highly recommend starting from Laxius Power 1, 2, and 3 in order to get a better feel of how the main story comes around (it's free, so it's easy to google it), although 3 Stars of Destiny takes you even before then :) Basically, in…

Extremely fun and challenging game. Love the old style 2d graphics system from the rpg games I now love. It is addictive and enthralling story that I feel evokes emotion towards the characters. The maps are creative and well decorated with nice hidden areas stocked with special items. This game is a real 5 star masterpiece.

Entertaining, tons of secrets, excellent exploration and battles and good replayability. I have already played the non-Steam version of the game, so I based my review on it. 3 Stars of Destiny (3SoD) is a prequel to Laxius series. If you're a fan of Random and his friends, than 3SoD is a must-play. And even without a knowledge of the characters, it has a lot to offer. I personally prefer challenge, and 3SoD can deliver it. Of all the similar games, it has possibly most secrets and the most…

I wondered about the story for the first few minutes, but after that it carried me along into a game that is massive in scope. It’s not just the story, it’s the game play, the range of gear and skills, the variety of strategies needed, the side quests if you choose to do them. All of these together make an interesting, sometimes really challenging, but always enjoyable experience. If you like exploring you’re going to enjoy this game. It gives you decent rewards for going off the main path,…

Personal Rating: 3 of 10 This game kicks off with an opening scene with 3 glowing insects or some sort of winged pest. Next it presents you with a short cut-scene of an unidentified creature slaughtering a witch and BAM...puts you right into the game with a protagonist named RANDOM. At first I thought maybe I skipped the name creation or the name generator broke or something so I actually GOOGLED this and confirmed that the character's name is indeed RANDOM. Overall I liked 3 Stars of Destiny. It is an oldschool style rpg with a mix of interesting characters and some humor. The combat system is solid, it has good level design, lots of secrets, challenges, and achievements. With that being said, if you do not like snes style rpgs, there's probably not much I can do to convince you to like it. You either like this style of game, or you hate it. Generic RPGMaker JRPG. The first impression I had with the game is the writing. The writing is incredibly super juvenile and childish. The next thing I noticed was that the beginning of the game was extremely too easy - while I understand that you don't want to make the beginning too hard, it completely diminishes the value of the monster variety when you oneshot everything. That said, to its credit, the middle of the game ramps its difficulty up significantly enough as to create a legitimate…

I wanted to like this game. I REALLY did. but 20 minutes in and I was completely disappointed not just with the experience the game was trying to provide, but with EVERYTHING. Starting off with one of the minor characters saying "(dies)", moving on to the main character being named "Random" (Seriously? "Random"? Overview: If youve played every other RPG out there and need more, it has all the trappings of one, however it seriously lacks in both meaninful plot and character development. Although its an OK game, I wouldnt recommend it when there is chrono trigger, secret of mana, dragon quest, earthbound and all the final fantasy games out there instead.

This is an incredible prologue to an incredible series. Thought it may not be world-famous, it certainly should be. Laxius Power is one of the most loved RPG Maker 2000 games of all time in my opinion. If you've played LP or Laxius Force, you definitely need to play this to see how the Laxius Team met. 3 Stars of Destiny is your average RPG maker game. Nothing new or special about it. The whole game was made with basic/default RPG maker functions. It's the same battle system from any RPG maker game, with the same gimmicks and the same graphics (although they do have some original art for a few things). The story is meh with a lot of walking back and forth through the same maps and a few randomly generated dungeons. If you never played a RPG maker game before, you may enjoy it. But in my…

3 Stars of Destiny is in a very real sense the Traditional RPG. The three main characters are Random, Sarah, and Luciana the Mage, who are destined for a great power. Fate brings them together, as an Evil God, Ozur attempts to trap the hero's and steal their power. As is usual with RPG's, the game offers a mixture of random battle encounters, as well as an environment rich for exploration. There is a short interactive tutorial to help you get adjusted to the game and the learning curve is very…

Beginning game is a bit slow, but the amount of fun I've had is unmatched. 3 Stars of Destiny is worth it's small price tag right now, but it is also worth the 15 normally. Of all of the pieces of garbage that Aldorlea has spewed onto Steam, this by far the second worst one of all the ones I've had the displeasure of playing. It starts out innocently enough, and seems to present a fair mix of comedy, story, and reasonable classic turn-based RPG elements. But that's just to lure you in. It has all of the elements I look for in this type of game: -an excellent and absorbing story -great character development -nice graphics that really take me back to the retro style -secret rooms, areas, and weapons -great music I can see this is going to be another time consuming adventure and that (for me, anyway) is the best kind.
