As someone who's played a lot of VNs, Always The Same Blue Sky did not win me over. Large spoilers ahead, so be warned. - The language came across as overly poetic to the point of being purple prose. For example, we get lines such as "The precious fabric was a rich shade of turquoise which transformed the glaring sun into a thousand stars." There's nothing wrong with clever metaphor, but it should be handled carefully, not swung around willy-nilly like a sledgehammer. - A great example of…

Always The Same Blue Sky… developed by Crimson Night and published by Flying Interactive, on steam. It is a visual novel with choices with 2 endings 1 being a bad ending and the other being a good end. Players are given choices to make in the game and depending on your choices it will change the outcome of the story. The story You play as a thoughtful young soul, bumbling your way through late adolescence; you’ve been through a lot for your age and consequently are a little numb. This is why…

The story is fine & sad, more endings would be great to get every personal (happy) ending, but 2 need to be enough. The grahpics are unique & good to the rest of the game. Sound is okay. The game length of playing 2 walks is okay, but sure could be more, if you play only 1 walk you better buy this game with 33-50 % discount. For achievement hunters its very good, sure could have a few more, but its really good. For Visual Novel fans with no high needs for a great story/ graphic i give 83 %, for…

The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever. - Jacques Yves Cousteau Well... Always The Same Blue Sky... is the first visual novel from NeoNight. It is short, somewhat charming with marvelously beautiful art style and alluring soundtrack, but also with a problematic story pace and plotline revelation. With a bit more elaboration and some more content, it would have been something gorgeous. At the end of the day, it is a short charming VN, with a great deal of…

This VN was very short but very enjoyable. The art set itself apart from most other VNs I've played this year. I also liked the soundtrack quite a bit. It sounded fresh and relaxing. Whenever I closed my eyes I could almost see myself at the beach. As I've mentioned, the game is short and you basically get what you pay for (length-wise). It's not much of a downside though as this VN ends at just the right time. It does not drag on. It was a nice experience and I would definitely consider…

Always the Same Blue Sky is a short (30m - 1hr) visual novel with a lovely aesthetic and a nice if simple soundtrack. Well written with interesting characters, it's biggest issue is perhaps that it's a little -too- short. Character relationships progress in between the scenes and it feels like it's missing some of the content that would really pull you into their interactions and give them more weight. It's lovely to see more original English language VNs on Steam, and for three bucks you…

This one's an awesome indie visual novel from a small European studio that well, I enjoyed months ago and of course I forgot to review. It's definitely quite short, but on the other side it's well worthy to be played in my opinion. That's why I'm replaying it after many months right now :P And while it's true that often a game with lots of endings is usually lengthier and more developed, with many characters and so on, it's never automatic the connection between many endings and a beautiful…

Consider this a thumbs halfway recommendation. Do look into the game if you're interested, but if the descriptive text above doesn't draw you in, the actual game is unlikely to change that. Terrible sales copy aside, Always The Same Blue Sky does in fact present nicely detailed art and a fitting soundtrack, both of which are used to good effect. It's easy to see the effort put into making things look and sound good, and Crimson Night’s team clearly have a good eye for what works, particularly…

Okay, let me get this straight: Always The Same Blue Sky is one of these games you can't decide between good or bad. It is one of these you think Steam should have a neutral button. Unfortunately we still don't have that, but I'll just recommend it because the game weights more in the good parts. If you are interested in Visual Novels, keep going for a more in depth view about the game. No spoilers, rest assured. Story The foundation of a Visual Novel is more than anything, the story. Some…

Extremely short, but interesting. I do like how the story surprised me a bit. I thought it was just going to be a slice-of-life story, but the ending(s) changed that. I do wish it had been longer and that the choices didn't just lead to two different endings (a good and a bad one). Overall, it was enjoyable but could've been better. The artwork was very pretty. I recommend it as long as you're okay with short VNs.

To come right out with it, Always the Same Blue Sky is, in fact, a typical visual novel. It's a bit shorter than most, and the different paths are barely any different from one another, but it's not the atypical visual novel that is "a gripping tale with no filler" that it claims to be. A lot of the filler that this game decides to cut out is things that help develop the characters and make the things happen to them affect you in some way. The game covers something like three months of being…

Pros Small price tag. Several different endings, has replayability. Easy achievements and nice cards. Colorful and fun artwork. A very soothing musical soundtrack that is easy on the ears and fits the theme of the game very well. Features no nudity or foul language. Appropriate for those who prefer a softer VN. Cons Choices seem to matter very little. You are given a lot of choice in the game, but the main love interest (Kira) seems to adore you regardless of what you do. A bit…

Bought this mainly because of the promise of "breathtaking artwork and an addictive soundtrack", I figured that, as a person who adores VNs, and it being only £1.69 at the moment, I had nothing to lose... ...yeah, I was wrong. Don't get me wrong, the story is okay (although honestly I was more interested by the "hidden" side-story) and the artwork and soundtrack are also okay, but that's it. Just okay. Why you should buy this: The visuals and music alone are worth the meager asking price. The review: You don't really get to know Kira (the only character besides you) very much during the short 30-45 minute story and the ending, while it seemed rather rushed, was quite emotional for me. You do get a few choices during the story which will ultimately determine whether you get ending 1 or 2, but they don't really change the rest of the story much. All in all, its a good visual novel that maybe…

I think the background artworks are very nice, and there's potential in the story idea. However, I felt that the actual story is too short, with abrupt transitions between scenes. Elaboration of the plot points, as well as addition of more "intermediary" scenes will probably help here. The language also felt too flowery at times. In addition, the endings felt jarring because it's suddenly implied that Kira has killed many people prior to her encounter with the protagonist. Overall, I think…

You play as a foreign student in some oversea college, where you meet Kira, the blonde, green-eyed chick. The remaining of the game spins around your relationship with her. As usual, no spoilers shall be given. The art is kinda subpar, though you might be into it it if you enjoy 90's shoujo drawing style (e.g. Sailor Moon). A pretty short story with 2 separate ending but very little difference due to the few choices you make until the ending part. The game is also stretched out a little bit because the prose used is a bit much, in my opinion. I've read hundreds of novels, and I can't remember any single one of them that used quite so many words to say so little, and most of it was in overly describing things that in reality didn't need quite so much of a description. Pros: Its pretty cheap Has a nice background music Good graphic Cons: About 10m gameplay, 15 if u want to get both endings. Very short - each individual playthrough should take you around 20-30 minutes, depending on how quickly you read. The art isn't bad and the dialogue is decent. It's three bucks, but you'll put a few hours into it if you play both genders and take multiple paths. The music is pretty darn good, it must be said.

Short story feels a bit disjointed, but it’s still worth the low price. The text boxes perform their purpose, however they should be much larger. The same applies for the typeface, which is difficult to read because it is jammed into little boxes at the bottom. Visual novels are sometimes criticized for having text bubbles that conceal half of the image, but there should be some balance. The images are great. Personally, I enjoyed this visual novel. I bought it despite some of the bad reviews, as it was cheap, and was pleasantly surprised. The writing does lean towards excess, and could do with some editing - for example, a lengthy description of Kira's appearance is not necessary, as we see her sprite and already know about her apple-green eyes. I loved the odd sense of place this game had. It felt somewhat familiar, yet alien. I also liked the way the story emerged as a series of vignettes - again…

Always the Same Blue Sky is a short game, but this is not a mark against it; it tells its story in a succinct and satisfying way that certainly doesn't drag on. I would recommend this game primarily if you are interested in a visual novel that lets you role-play the main character a bit; there are many opportunities to decide how you want to handle a situation, even if these don't always wind up too differently from one another. Although the story itself is rather short (less than an hour for both endings), and the fact that it is essentially a dating sim, the gorgeous pastel-like artwork really is something to behold. Always The Same Blue Sky is a nice VN, but for me it is too short with too few Endings and Possibilities. It is basically just a Story about one Character you meet with either a good or a bad End. Compared to other VNs it seems to be unfinished, which is a bit disappointing. Woah this game was crazzzyyy short for the price tag. BUT I can tell that alot of effort went into this game. The art is really beautiful and the music is good (I consider purchasing the music pack.) There are really only 2 endings but I do like the story either way. Overall I enjoyed this game but it is too short for the price tag. If it's on sale or in a humble bundle thing, I recommend picking it up for a short VN.

i would say 50/50. it was definitely not bad! the music was good, it was cute, etc. but for me, i guess it was tooo short to really get attatched, or go in too deep. if its on sale, get it.
