Here's the thing. This game is $10. Human Resource Machine is also $10. If you have only $10 to spend on a programming puzzle game, which game should you buy? Human Resource Machine, without a doubt. I'm a programmer, and I didn't enjoy playing this game. I put up with 10 levels, spending an average of 2 minutes on each, and between all those levels (which breaches into the second chapter, mind you), only one new game mechanic was introduced, and it was introduced early on in the first…

Another lovely game from the developers of Epistory - Typing Chronicles Algo Bot is a great puzzle programming game. It's light on the programming part since everything is programmed through a GUI which makes it an accessible game for everyone. One of the great things is difficulty being build up very nicely. The start of the game will introduce the different commands and level by level you will be introduced to more challenging puzzles. It covers the main concepts of programming with a…

Broken. It was going well until Warehouse level 5 (2-5) when all game text disappeared. No more dialog text, no explanations of new mechanics, no menu text outside of the main menu options. This is not resolved by changing the in-game language, restarting Steam, or rebooting my computer. Now, when I go back to earlier levels the text is missing. My save file must be corrupt, I thought. Then text displayed again in Terraforming Labs level 4 (4-4) to immediately go missing again in the next…

Algo Bot is a Puzzle game with programming I like how this game uses programming system, that feels close to these from games made by Zachtronics' but easier to master. Pros - I really liked the idea how the game is slowly teaching us her mechanisms and don't want you to feel bored. - The difficulty level is raising as your progress, so it isn't inflated. - Characters have their personalities even though they are robots, so you can see PAL shouting at Algo for doing something wrong and he is…

I am giving this a positive review because two thirds of this game is quite good. The visuals and animations are cool and the puzzles are logical and satisfying. For the last portion of the game a new mechanic called "Condition" is introduced that is clunky, is implemented in a non-sensical manner and makes all the remaining puzzles an over-convoluted chore to get through. Obviously at its asking price of $10 this game is overpriced due to very limited quality content (only 30 good puzzles…

I'm glad so many people have derived enjoyment from this game, but I'm not one of them. I love this style of game, and AlgoBot sucks all the joy out of the genre. The most important problem with the game is that the UI is awful. Dragging symbols to the programming track is tedious. There is a keymap but it works inconsistently, sometimes automatically advancing to the next command, sometimes overwriting the last command, and sometimes simply not working at all. The icon for 'pick up' is a…

Recommended for puzzle fans with some minor reservations. Nice easy puzzle game that teaches some programming concepts. Depth is added later by the addition of functions and conditionals, but it's all visual with no prior programming skills required. Pleasant graphics and sound are conducive to a thinking environment. Only "complaint" is that the game could have further depth, more use could be made of the conditional statements (I only found 2 puzzles where I needed them). Also more lines of…

This is far from the best programming game. It is too simplified and teaches wrong concepts. If you are a programmer or want to be a programmer this game is boring for you and there are much better games: Shenzhen I/O, TIS-100, Infinfactory, Human Resources. If you want to experience to program bots this is a crappy way to be expose to that concept. LogicBots would be much better choice. If you are not programmer and just looking for a good spacial orientation/ labyrinth type puzzles this is…

Challenging and fun! This game starts out deceptively simple with easy tasks but grows steadily more complex. You must program your robot before he begins a chain of commands which cannot be edited until he completes his program. It really makes you think and plan ahead, because one wrong move and Algo will fail. I like the graphics, sounds, and snarky humor of the other robots and computers in the game. I could also see this game as a teaching tool for young children to learn the basic…

Algo Bot is fun for a little bit, but as a logical puzzle game, it misses the mark. The game tasks you with programming a robot to reach the end of the level, with limitations like hitting switches or uploading / downloading data on the way. You only have a limited number of moves, so you have to plan ahead, and functions help you consolidate more moves into less space. That seems all well and good, but it also makes it incredibly frustrating to finish every level in the target moves set by…

Algo Bot is a bit of a mixed bag, to me. Advertised as a programming game, it fails to capture the open-ended nature of other games in the genre with its linear, single-solution levels. It makes more sense to think of this as a programming-inspired puzzle game. Even so, I found the puzzles rather straight forward and if they intended to build up to something, I struggled to maintain interest long enough to see what they had in mind.

Sadly, I cannot recommend this game. It looked to me as having a lot of potential, but IMO they really messed up. It's graphically pleasing, cute even (in a good way), but: The level design is terrible. They introduce new constructs like conditionals and then proceed with a series of levels where the obvious and simplest solution is to not use them. Anyway, the way this "conditional" is defined (1 instance per program, fixed condition) is not very useful anyway. The game is definitely…

Not bad but not that good. The gameplay loop is similar to SpaceChem, although SpaceChem did the whole thing so much better, using every trick in the book to encourage you to keep replaying the puzzles and reduce the number of steps you need to solve it. Algo Bot has nicer graphics than SpaceChem, but there doesn't seem to be any way to control the camera, zoom in on details or explore the environment. The plotline is very thin, and for a logic game, there isn't a lot of logic when it comes…

As a programming game it was going *okay*. The Linux native version, however, seems to have a bug where all the text stops working at level 2-5 (there's a discussion thread about it with many people experiencing the same problem). When I switched it to using Proton, it got a couple of levels further then started just freezing, and making my GPU very hot, sometimes freezing even almost immediately upon restart (while still just showing the developers' logo). It would have been a pretty weak…

Excellent little programming puzzle with a nice soundtrack and cute graphics. I could not master the keyboard controls, so I ended up drag'n'dropping the commands, but fortunately it wasn't a chore. If you've already played through other games in the "LightBot" genre then the gameplay here isn't going to provide you with much new. What this game does do is present the game really well and tell a fun little story with a nice sense of humor. What a great little game! Won this on Steamgifts and didn't expect much from it, but it's super fun to program the bot and work out the most efficient solution for each level. There are robots in real life you can program like that, my wife (who is a teacher) uses them at school. This is basically the virtual version of these robots. Up front, it's worth mentioning how much good production values can add to even a simple game like this! The game is essentially 2D, but placed in a 3D environment with just enough animation, sound design, and story to set it apart from most of the things I'm about to compare it to. None of those elements are incredible, but it's a welcome change after playing games like Prime Mover or MOLOK-SYNTEZ. The animations are slow and clunky, the puzzles very simple and the scripted dialog gets replayed with the levels. Also, at some point, the UI loses all its text, so if you're invested in the story dialog or an overview of how well you solved the puzzle, sorry. :P HOWEVER, if at some point in time, this gets patched, I can actually see myself enjoying it. The goal of this puzzle game is simple: reach the exit and press buttons or transfer things/data along the way. Every stage has an optimal amount of instructions that you should aim for, but reaching that goal is not required to finish the level. The difficulty is hard to judge. Some levels are easy, some are hard, and on others, you can skip the game mechanics and use brute force. I'm happy about Polish being one of the available subtitle options and have only positive things to say about…

Entertaining with a little challenge, just how I like my puzzle games! Also, the story is a big plus for me personally.

This is a puzzle game that also helps you understand programming logic. I suggest kids and adults that are eager to programming give this a geme a chance and try to optimize their solutions to the puzzles. Recommended.
