60 of 71 · most liked firstOnce again, I wish there was a "maybe" option. The reason I gave it a thumbs down is the way the game is marketed. "Build your own town and make heaps of money in this addictive strategy game. Construct an idyllic neighborhood with plenty of houses and keep your residents happy by providing all services they need, and they will reward you with a tidy profit." While that statement is completely true, it gives the impression the game is a city builder and a lot of the reviews below are calling…

Campaign Mode tends to hand hold so it's not challenging but still enjoyable (think DinerDash style, objective vs clock). 'Sandbox Mode' is also available, can create custom scenarios by changing timers and mission objectives. For the price it's worth a look at, should provide an evening or two of fun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yYEvJbank0&index=1&list=PLslfvIJAupswCGNHR9f7hl9xPcmCy9jsj (the elevator music…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, it's from the save developers of “Hero of the Kingdom”, a little and yet quite enjoyable game. I understand that Townopolis was released a while ago, but still, this one didn’t aged very well in my opinion. It’s more of a puzzle game than a building management one, which is okay because I like puzzle games as well. The problem here is that Townopolis gets so repetitive and boring after the first 5 or 7 scenarios that I almost gave up on playing. The BGM keeps going over and over, always…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was looking for a town building game on a smaller, more basic scale to the likes of SimCity et al. Thats what this is - a small town building game with basic management principles and little micromanagement. Good for taking a break from large, high end games and returning to a simpler play style. Pros: - Small file size - Simple to get the hang of - Mildly entertaining, it reminds me of those countless city-building games you get on smartphones. - I like the objectives system for each…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, I don't know if I should rate the game positively or not. On one hand, it's cheap and offers quite a bit of missions to keep you busy. On the other hand, it's basically just a recycled concept with different assets. As you play it, you can clearly see there wasn't much effort put into the actual gameplay or graphics. Overall, the game feels like something that belongs on the browser. Then again, I got it for 33 cents which isn't bad at all and you can get much worse games for the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short version: 32% This game really tries to be a Build-a-Lot type casual builder/resource manager, but the dreadful scaling and balance ruins most of its mechanics. Long version: Whenever a new successful formula emerges in the world of casual games, there will be myriads of copycats trying to cash in on it. Townopolis is such a clone, this time trying to imitate Build-a-Lot, a popular time manager/city builder from 2007. The goal of each of the 24 levels is mostly the same, despite the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think that most people are expecting to be able to have a lot of money and be able to build anything, but that is not the case. I don't recommend this game if your looking for a simulator.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Games of the same kind (cheap SimCity clone with no complexity and just a few options) are written in Flash and found online in great numbers. This one is very irritating, because the authors consciously made it into a clickfest: if you have 10 or more houses, any given monent one of them breaks and needs a manual repair. It looks like a sophomore exercise in commercial game-writing, with the same irritating commercial stylistics as found in online games in air flights. The target audience is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What is Townopolis? Townopolis is a casual sandbox/scenario based neighborhood planning game. It follows the traditions of the sub-genre of casual games, adding nothing new but doing well what it does. Mostly. The sub-genre has you as planner on a map of a small neighborhood where you build houses, upgrade them, add features to them etc. The houses generate income which is used to generate more income by building more houses. All the while you have a small resource management aspect with one…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Genre of casual games has long enjoyed popularity, but until recently avoided Steam. Now its number constantly raises and being relatively popular, distributors do not hesitate to re-release older titles too. Townopolis, originally from 2008, by Slovak team Lonely Troops is a good example, how to do it right. Townopolis is a casual strategy game that does not set any high goals in terms of sophisticated strategic options, but only for basic entertainment. If you are one of those people who…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fairly standard time-management game that is designed for (and probably easier to play on) a touchscreen. Keyboard shortcuts for functions would greatly improve playability with the keyboard and mouse. Slow starts, and very busy toward the end of each scenario. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Puzzle city builder. Good basis, but time pressure and maintenance mechanics kill the game. In Townopolis you work towards a mission goal. These can be build x and y, have this much money, make your town happy, etcetera. Buildings are squares, and the seven buildings around them influence each other. Homes make other homes happy, business buildings make homes unhappy. Homes generate income, happy homes generate more. Services increase income, same with home improvements. So far so good,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is a simple city builder based on short timed campaign mode with primary and secondary objectives, earning stars and trophies based on how well you did. The gameplay has puzzle and time management elements, and one could argue that its more in these categories then in the city builder genre. The game also has a sandbox mode where you can set your own win conditions, or none at all and just play for fun. In the sandbox it will take you under an hour to max out and try everything the…

We want YOU! to build this city and bring our never-existent glory back to town. We give You every tool you need, every help You need, expect You have to pay us so we can bore You to death ... oh, you did not pay for this game!? Very well, good for You citizen; You can be just bored without being salty from thoughts that You actually spend the money on this wonderfully soulless experience. How great it is it. Am I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a cute little game, I find it quite enjoyable. It's casual with quick levels, easy to learn and relaxing to play.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty decent strategy puzzler. Each round takes around 5 - 15 minutes. It does get a little repetitive but I enjoyed it anyway. The game desperately needs a cancel button to interrupt buildings in progress.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very basic City Builder game with objectives in Campaign mode. It's pretty fun in short one hour bursts. Would have been nice to have a much larger space to build my city in Sandbox mode though. A bit too limiting in that regard. It would be a great game for young children to play to introduce them to city building games. Once they master this game get them to try Sim City 2000 :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommended with caveats: as noted by others, it really is a puzzle game. In campaign mode, there are 24 scenarios with increasing difficulty. Beginning with #18, the possible solutions become more limited, at the expense of creativity in my view. The game area is always 5x5 squares; but actual buildable space is limited by immovable objects and placement of roads which are baked into the scenario. You can only build next to a road, even parks. The other mode of play is called the sandbox; but…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a game about waiting while staring at the looping cash progress bar icon. You can NOT speed up the game. This game gave me anxiety.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a good nice game thank you !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Townopolis is not as fun as the other 2 "opolis" series. The goals are not realistic to meet unless you're doing easy mode, that's BS. Repetitive and boring, not recommended.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fairly simple Puzzlegame masquerading as Sim City though later levels can get a bit harsh on timing if you aim to get every gold star and medal on every occasion. Apart from that it's very enjoyable for casual gaming and / or achievement hunting. Perfectly well suited to get on a sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Maybe this game appeals to somebody but it certainly didn't do anything for me. Played more like a mobile game with the constant clicking. I couldn't really find any real gameplay, most of it was just clicking the same stuff over and over again. Gave it 30 minutes as i always do for these games and finished the first 5 missions in that time. Wasn't worth it. I wouldn't say it's not worth the 4 bucks but more like that it is not worth your time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To be honest, I consider this to be a poor version of Build a Lot. I hate the diamond shape the town is displayed in. There seems to be a lot of wasted space on screen. Poor user interface design. Maybe it gets better. I only played for like a half hour and lost interest.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this game expecting it to be exactly as I expected it to be. It reminds me of a game called "Build-A-Lot", and it plays almost the same exact way. I dunno if its a rip-off of that game or not, I do not care really, as this game is fun to play when bored, and its the best investment of a game I have gotten. It was worth it, Buy this game if you like casual building. Someone wrote on here in another posts rating it bad and comparing it to SimCity... this is nothing like SimCity as the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Time Management game. Reminds me of playing the 12 Labours of Hercules series... but worse. Finished about 1 third of the game in 2 hours. No desire to continue.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tis be a puzzle game but twas marketed as a citybuilder. Darn shame. Meh.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Looks and plays like an Android game, it's very simple. no complexity or in depth objectives, build this, build that, and wait. It can be fun at first but it then turns very bland and boring, if you're a very big fan of town sims, or you like to collect them, then knock yourself out, otherwise, I can't really recommend this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You can read my Romopolis review [url=http://steamcommunity.com/id/lordbalder/recommended/471170]here. I know that Townopolis is older game, but I played Romopolis first, so I'll write from that point of view. Townopolis is basically the same game as Romopolis, with different skin, placed in modern towns, so I won't go into detail about the game; all that you can read in my Romopolis review. I'll just enter a few of the differences, that'll make sense to you only if you already played…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a fun game, it keeps you playing for a couple of hours
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had a lot of fun playing this game. My only wish is that there were more levels.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring, long levels, goals poorly designed, levels need to replay multiple times, no option to speed up.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Backlog Day: Townopolis It's part of the series that included Romeopolis, which I played earlier in the year. Pretty much the same mechanics, except you gain no materials from knocking down forests to build. And it plays MUCH MORE SLOWER. Rome was already a bit of a slog. Town? phew!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wish steam would stop this mass exporting of crappy mobile games onto PC. The reason they failed is because they are CRAP.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lonely Troops created a lot of amazing games. But before they made those, they created this. What is this? It's a game from a boring trilogy. All three of these games are almost the same. They are cheap and they look quite appealing. You can even buy a cheap bundle of them all. Townopolis, Romopolis and Megapolis trilogy. It's a bit misleading in terms of the gameplay. They look like a classic city builder simulator. But it's quite the opposite, it's a basic clicker. You click stuff and then…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While Townopolis might appear to be a Sim-City style game, it's more of a mobile app clicker where you just click around to build certain structures and keep materials and workers flowing in so you can click more and watch the timers go down more quickly. The mobile-itis is strong here. Graphics are low quality, gameplay is suited just for casuals, resolution is fixed (but the game does work in full screen). There's a whopping $6 price tag for a clicker. The most amusing part of the game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just a relaxing game where you can build up a small town through scenarios or in a sandbox. Hours of mindless fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →30 hours of fun for €3,99. Ain't not that bad. Great puzzle game, working fine on win7 and no bugs detected!!!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun little casual game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is all about location, location, location. Figuring out build strats was a good challenge, while it is not a perfect game, it is decent for some bite size resource management challenges. I do wish there was an undo or cancel action button, sometimes after 20 minutes of refining your execution for a map you click the wrong thing in the last minute and lose your chance at beating the time challenge. Some time limits where annoyingly tight but attainable once you understand the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a bit too repetitive/time-sucky, very basic resources make it pretty dull to play, as most time is spent waiting for rent to come in. Has potential as the basis for a city-builder game tho.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →love this game play it and the other 2 similar games over and over. try it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's gotta be a word for this type of UI and whatever it is I can't stand it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a huge fan of town building games, it just never grabbed my interest. It's limited and locked in many ways, feels clunky, the UI and aesthetic is unappealing, and it's just a generally boring game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mildly recommended. To start, this is more of a casual time management tycoon game and not really a city builder. These are a dime a dozen and most are bland and lack originality. This one is not bad, but it won't stand out and is starting to show signs of age. Some of the levels are pretty tricky, but most of the game is straightforward once you play a few levels. If you like this style of game, then you should find this is serviceable. Otherwise, you can skip it for something more modern.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Townopolis is more difficult than Romopolis. All prices have rocketed. Now you need to pay 40,000 dollars for training a worker, not 1,500 golds. There is no license can lower the price. Cons: -Every house can upgrade six times, but only the first time will be counted for "Upgrade Building" achievements. -In order to complete "StockKeeper" achievement, you should buy 300,000 materials. This means you must click the damn button over one thousand times and waiting. I doubt if developers over…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Redundant... so many other games to play that are better than this
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is surprisingly fun! I bought it on sale for 1 euro because I always thought those mixed reviews were a good warning. But this game is actually really fun for me! I think lots of people start this game and play it 'wrong'. You can't really play the game wrong, but if you make bad decisions, you may have to wait forever for the next step. I saw a review on YouTube where someone said: I wish there were more graphics, things to watch while you wait. He was clearly playing it wrong! For…

I felt bad at the first, as this game does not have people walking on city roads. Other than notifications you do not see people. *** BUT STILL, this GAME WON my heart! *** I have spent just a Euro to purchase it due to the discount. And I am having 8 hours of beautiful time already. I am sure It will keep making me happy for another 10-15 hours. Guys just go for it, spend the first 15 minutes properly…
