42 of 42 · most liked firstThis is one of those games where you'll probably know whether you're gonna like it or not just by watching the trailer. Chances are you're only checking the reviews to see if people had any issues with bugs or dodgy controls, or how easy/difficult the puzzles are. Well, seeing as you're here, I'll assure you that it plays like a charm. A perfect marriage of slick platforming and clever puzzles. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the 15 or so hours it took me to achieve 100%.

Overview/Background Shift Quantum is a very well-made cyber-noir action-puzzler platformer that truly makes the player think outside of the box. You may remember the Shift series, black and white flash games that contained mind-bending puzzles and had plenty of exciting music. Well, Shift Quantum is the successor and really brings back that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shift Quantum is a puzzle 2D platformer game that follows the idea from the Shift Flash games. The main mechanic of the game revolves about using the Shift key which inverts you down on the platform you are standing combined with new gimmicks to keep the gameplay fresh. From the total of 120 levels you can expect to get stuck and come back at a later time to finish the puzzle, the later levels are definitely challenging. You will also find collectibles, called glitches in the game, which offer…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An Piece of art from the developers of Epistory - Typing Chronicles Even though I am not a huge fan of this genre, the fact that it was developed by Fishing Cactus convinced me buying it. Shift Quantum is a great cyber-punk puzzle platformer. One of the great things is difficulty being build up nicely. In the beginning you'll be introduced to the games mechanics, get a hang of the shifting. Once you get the hang of the shifting part the game will introduce various other elements. These…

Shift Quantum is a great rendition of an old puzzle-platformer “Shift” (not that old really but in 2018 flash games feel like old school). There have been dozens of games that utilize the core mechanics of “Shift” so most people are familiar with them. You shift between a regular and negative space. The world is flipped upside down after your shift. You have to use this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shift Quantum is a decent puzzle game that offers 117 levels. I love such games that offer Unique Mechanics (like Hue, GOROGOA, Monument Valley, Framed and Old Man's Journey) that offer different perspectives. The early and mid-game puzzles are challenging but later ones SOFT LOCK you and require constant resets. That gets annoying. I've played games that either give an option to fix steps or resets without loading delays. Developers abandoned the server, level editor and community levels…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game crashes almost exactly a minute after launch each time, and defaults to the wrong resolution, so I can't see a rather relevant portion of the screen. Completely unplayable, in the literal sense. August 2026 edit: 2.5 years later, game still crashes under a minute after launching it consistently. Do not buy this product.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game closes all the time, in weird questionnaire before main menu when too slow but also when trying to exit first level. Unplayable, too bad. :(
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played old shift game before around 10 years and i really love it. This game is a remake of shift quadrology from armorgames. I'm thai guys and i can buy cheaper than america zone (around 9 dollar) so i bought it quickly but 17.99 dollars for america zone is ver expensive, you maybe wait for steam summer sale. Recommended for old shift fan game and who want to play casual puzzle and who you are in the zone that can buy a cheap price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →5/10 - kinda meh. Pick it up if you haven't played the Flash game, but a fairly forgettable experience otherwise. The game is a "spiritual successor" of sorts of the original Flash game. The foundational mechanic of shifting between the black and white "portions" of the level is here, but with better graphics, cool soundtrack, some lore, and support for modern systems (although you need Proton to run under Linux). If you have not played the original Flash game, this is a perfectly fine…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great rendition of the classic flash games. Quantum introduces a variety of new blocks and mechanics which keeps the game fresh. I really love the level editor and smooth gameplay; the only thing I would add would be customizable controls. The soundtrack is amazing too!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I usually try to 100% a game before writing it a review, but several achievements are not obtainable due to issues with connecting to servers online; the game crashes about a minute in if your wifi isn't turned off. Game resolutions can be fixed, but the constant crashing and locked achievements isn't fun. As much as I wanted to love this, I'm afraid it wasn't for me:[
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I did not have much XP with indie games, but this one is amazing. It took me around 13 hours to hit 100% progression. I did not encounter many bugs in game, there were a few in level editor though. The levels are very balanced. The hard levels are followed by easier ones, and that's what gives the player some space to rest a little after some exhaustive amount of thinking, and makes the game still enjoyable. I believe anyone, who loves puzzle games will like it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love the classic games. So far this one is taking it to the next level! Great work. <3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have watched so many videos about this game and I was excited to play it, until i got it and played first min and unexpectedly crashed and i kept trying to fix it and whenever i open it, it crashes all the time and there is no solution... I'm really disappointed
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good sequel to one of the best flash game puzzle platformers.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just okay. Some nice, challenging puzzles, but story didn't make sense, and it was often unclear where you were supposed to go or what you were supposed to do. The only way to get 100% is to play the game through more than once, which only the most die hard achievement-hunter will do. It's very annoying that you can't simply go back and re-play a level (instead of having to start over from the beginning). That makes me feel like the devs are trying to manipulate me into spending more time…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fishing Cactus succeed perfectly to adapt the old game of my child hood "Shift" as a master piece! Just, wonderful, immersive, intelligent,...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very, very impressed by Shift Quantum. I was anticipating that the shifting mechanism would be confusing, but this has not been my experience at all. The learning curve has been smooth, with new ways to use the mechanism introduced to the player at an appropriate pace. The visuals and theme tie together well. Even the menu system is part of the experience, not just a break in immersion. I'm looking forward to more games by this developer.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you played the old flash game, this is basically exactly what you say except with a thick layer of atmosphere on top. If you didn't play the old flash game: This is a relatively good puzzle game whose central mechanic sounds simple but lends itself to good brainteasers. It does occasionally take a break from actual puzzles to give you a linear "story"/atmosphere segment (not that there's much story).

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shift Quantum, developed and published by Fishing Cactus, is a puzzle platformer that takes the original concept of the Shift series and elevates it with a cyber-noir aesthetic, new mechanics, and a more polished presentation. At its core, the game revolves around a deceptively simple idea: the ability to invert space by shifting between positive and negative zones. With each press of a button, floors become ceilings, walls transform into pathways, and what once blocked your progress becomes…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've completed this game 5 times, it's my favorite puzzle game. The music, the concept, just perfect.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →really cool stuff ! the game play is very amusing and keeps u playing it until u get tired of it and finally decide to go to sleep! the story is something empty but very sweet to follow. u will enjoy it alongside the game play. try to do the levels all by yourself ... and if u really couldnt do it , just search for a walk trough guide.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL:DR - 8/10 - Enjoyable puzzle platformer with a neat art style, some genuine headscratchers, and a great deal of replayability courtesy of community levels. Definitely recommend, especially if you're into puzzle games. And now the slightly longer review... Shift Quantum is a very well done puzzle platformer with an arresting art style and some genuinely good puzzles. It features community levels in its endgame content, adding a great deal of replayability to the experience long after you've…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The quick review: An overall OK puzzle game with a Mind-bending mechanic and bland atmosphere. The Level Editor adds nice value and replayability. 3/5 stars. Wouldn’t recommend it, but wouldn’t not recommend it either. Shift Quantum can be a fairly challenging puzzle game. But it can also be a bit of a slog to get through. With 17 hours logged into the game, and 100% completion, I think I’m well informed to share my opinion. Let’s take a look... Gameplay: The goal of each level is to get…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An excellent evolution of a classic puzzle platformer series. Takes the concept (shifting between black/white ground tiles) and established variations (gravity/rotation) and adds a bunch of new components to explore and expand on the core gameplay mechanic. Platforming works well and isn't too floaty, puzzles are challenging but not to the point where I got frustrated. I didn't do a great job following the story but the art and characters seemed to work well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting idea at first but gets really boring after some time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this long time ago back on facebook games or flash game whatever it's name, and I love it xD here we got the game again, and it's just so cool sunovbitch xD no seriously, this game is really good and I highly recommend it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shift Quantum is one of the greatest puzzle-platformers I have ever played The game tells a story but we're not here to talk about how this story is so good it leaves you with more questions than when you started. We're here for gameplay. Mind-bending puzzles are calling out your name You are introduced to Shift Quantum by taking a quick test after which you are introduced to the world of the game and main mechanic called "Shift". You might think that levels are easy, but the difficulty…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good old shift game. You need imagination to play this kind of game, and Shift Quantum delivered one of the best puzzle game I ever played.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Eversince I first played this game on the Gamescom 2017 I was hyped and couldn't wait to get my hands on the full version. And I was not disappointed. This game is addictive and just so much fun. If you enjoy puzzle games this is a must have!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shift Extended on PSP is better. This game adds some extra elements like moving boxes which when combined makes it way more complex and requires more trial and error. Shift extended on psp is a simpler, faster and more focused game which is how a single screen puzzle game should be. I don't want to spend 20 minutes looking at the same screen in frustration.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best game ever! I dont think i have ever seen such a creative perspective. Be careful its very additive :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Keep in mind this review is written before completely finishing the game (I'm about 2/3 of the way through). Do recommend, this is a well-designed little puzzle game. The puzzles build on each other well and solving them feels fulfilling. It's exactly what I was looking for in a brain teaser game. However, there's a couple of things that are making it really frustrating to play in places. First, I can't zoom out, which in early levels is fine, but in later maps leads to frustration as I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A challenging and mystifying addition to the always excellent Shift series! While you have the usual Shift mechanic (swap to the opposite side of reality so up is down, black is white, walls and floors are now open space and vice-versa, etc.), they've added pushable blocks that follow the same rules (blocks that are floors and walls in one shift perspective are now open space in the opposite shift perspective). Combine that with shifting gravity (everything falls one specific direction, even if…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice puzzle game with a novel mechanism. Not too mind-bending as of halfway through the game, so good for a relaxing session.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really cool design, great complexity in puzzles. Only thing I'd fix is the initial startup. When you go to video, change the settings to what you prefer, and go use your arrow to go below v sync (offscreen) to save the changes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thoroughly enjoyed playing Shift Quantum. 33 hours spent mucking about in these increasingly complex and frustrating puzzles. I admit I had to look up a YT vid on 2 puzzles, but the rest took time, patience, deep thought. Well done devs.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was lucky enough to win a key for this game while watching Trisa Bytes Twitch stream. The art style, game backgrounds and music were a big draw to start with. The game play it's self is deeply compelling. The pacing is nicely set. Each new mechanic well introduced to the player and the complexity slowly builds and builds. One consiquence is that I now want a bight yellow scarf.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wonderful game. I will update when I completed it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is fast-paced, yet very short. Buy it when it’s on sale.
