53 of 53 · most liked firstI've played this game up to the 4th dungeon. It mimics a lot of what the classic Legend of Zelda games do, but it does not mimic them well. Overall, it is not fun or well executed. It has been 30 years since Link to the Past came out, and this is just a collection of the worst parts of it, implemented incorrectly. The story is not compelling. It explains about ongoing hostilities between two opposing groups. You are a member of one who lives in the town of the other. Long ago there was a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →in its current state the game is a 3 or 4 / 10 at best It is CHOCK full of bugs. Several game breaking ones. Dungeons that can become softlocked into impossible to progress, enemy spawn locations that prevent you from entering rooms, obtaining things and then having other stuff tell you that you need the thing you just got. Sound - bump, ba bump, BANG BUMP... the same reused pickup animation over and over and over and over even on minimum volume settings and speakers down to 30% this game…

Despite the similarity, it has some aspects that are different, such as quests and lengthy dialogues. These, however, still…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Obviously, one of the big selling points of Airoheart for senior millennial farts like me was the Zelda: ALTTP styling. It doesn’t land on many points, though. The art style is reminiscent of ALTTP, but...not as simple, and not as attractive. There are so many spots where it looks like the protagonist (the eponymous Airoheart) should be able to walk through, but the collision boxes on trees and fenceposts, for instance, are not very tight. This makes an apparently large and enticing explorable…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Look. I finished the game after a lot of frustrations, but I can definitely see the good thoughts that went into this this. Even though I played for all those hours, I felt obliged to finish it to get to something else, as I knew I could get through the end of the game. However, I would not recommend the game, as I consider myself to be a veteran of these kind of games (I played all the zeldas from this generation). The game feels clumsy and the design of the 6th and 9th dungeon are just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like Super Nintendo games such as The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past of Final Fantasy, then Airoheart is the right place for you. The game is an ode to the classic genre of RPGs of the time. The game is fun to play even though you spend a lot of time searching where to go, but this is the fun in this genre right? Watch my first gameplay here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrllJexJ6XM In Airoheart, players follow the adventure of the protagonist of the same name. He lives in the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm getting out from under this before I'm in too deep and dedicated. The other negative reviews of this game are spot on. This is a nice try to be an homage to a golden age of video gaming, but it just continually falls short.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For $30 this should have been way more polished. The game is only okay. Gameplay is rough. Movement controls aren't optimized. If you use the analog stick your character will not respond correctly. Many times i would either not turn or get stuck in a strafe. There are NO DUNGEON MAPS. This is unacceptable. Every Zelda game has dungeon maps, especially the one this very much borrows from. The liighting is awful to the point of some areas being almost unplayable. There is no option to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I should've waited for reviews. The combat (which some other negative reviews are complaining about) is fine; it forces you to be more deliberate (I got away with a LOT by spamming my sword in A Link to the Past). And so is the music, honestly not too different from Zelda games. My problems are: 1: The control scheme. Basic attack in a non-twin stick game should always be on a face button, and dash in any game on a shoulder button, and select/back should always go directly to the map. 2: An…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The child in me enjoys Airoheart but the veteran adult player I am finds too many flaws in it to leave a positive review right now. Yes, it is a lot like Zelda A Link To The Past and yes, it will trigger some nostalgic feelings if you played those kind of games as a kid. Exploration is rewarding with a few side quests. The music is really annoying and repetitive. The combat system with a sword could be better, the hitbox is very frustrating. Why is there no map in the dungeons ??? That’s…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game gives really a nostalgic feeling and bring back the Zelda gameplay from the Super Nintendo. It is not easy to bring a game with the same quality as a Zelda game, but Airoheart gets close to it. Here some gameplay: https://youtu.be/asfbESxOpB8
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can't recommend at this point. I runs fine on steam deck (proton GE 33) but I have had a couple of crashes. The main problem is the large enemy hit boxes and the animation of airoheart that makes it difficult changing directions to make a hit when say flying enimies change sides Which results in cheap enemy hits, because you end up facing them with your back exposed. Seems it needs a bit more polish and I will certainly revisit it after some patches. I sense a good game here, it's just I'm…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately, I bring mostly criticisms to this review. I don't feel it is irredeemable-- but I cannot justify a POSITIVE rating upon reflecting how I felt as I played this. The issues were persistent enough that I couldn't ignore them, and they greatly subtracted from the overall experience. In the end, I begrudgingly completed it. Though there were several times where I could hardly bring myself to care to continue. I'm not satisfied in having finished it, but I'm glad I put it behind me. I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don’t waste your money on this game especially at full price, instead go and play the Elementallis demo in the meantime, the game is clunky, there’s no dungeon maps and there are areas where you can just outright soft lock yourself and require to restart to the main menu, it’s super annoying that in order to access the world map you have to constantly pause the game and the soundtrack gets to the point where you just wanna stab yourself in the ears to make it stop, the story is mediocre as well…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Enjoying it! Great nostalgia vibes!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know what kind of crack half of these negative rec folks are smoking. I get that not every game is for everyone, but this was very palatable. This Zelda-like is dope! Better than Blossom Tales 1 and a decent rival to that games sequel (Master Key remains my favourite above all though). I'll get the negatives out of the way first: There are some tricky moments in the final dungeon (though if you find the rune of lethargy, that should help). I will admit that the D-pad handles…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →THE SHORT REVIEW: This is a fairly retro experience. A top-down action game with puzzle-solving elements, non-linear exploration, and a simple tale behind it all. Its puzzles and level design are quite pleasing, and overall it is a pleasant enough, enjoyable challenge. Albeit with a heavily nostalgic style to it's graphics, music, dramatically somewhat toothless narrative, and basic combat. To be fair: I like the graphics and music, and whilst the story is bland it is still charming and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good overall. Difficulty remains through the game. No invincibility frames. Git gud. Music is nice. Very dim lighting in dungeons is my only complaint. Optional collectibles, exploration, and extra characters. As far as price for what you get, think of a SNES game. Except it costs less than they did but for the same gameplay time or more.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was fun at the beginning. But the last dungeon is just ... bad. So many soft-lock potentials. A certain miniboss is just plain unfair. Wonky controls, ice floor and a very small hitbox? Who thought this was fun? I get that people like Dark Souls. But Dark Souls Bosses are fun und challenging. This is just a recycled boss with unfun counter design. Before trying to do challenging/hard bosses, maybe try doing fun ones first and work your way up. Or playtest the game first.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Airoheart is a good answer to the question: “What if Link to the Past was longer and more difficult?” Not every added challenge makes the game better, but it can potentially make completing the challenges more rewarding. If you are looking for a more difficult spiritual successor to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Airoheart is a good choice. Probably not the best one, but a good one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly I'm enjoying this so far. This is the closest to a Link to the Past we've gotten that poses any kind of challenge. The combat is fun and challenging, and there (for the most part) doesn't seem to be any unfair challenge. The first boss actually had a pattern in his attacks. I've seen some reviews state there are some bugs later on, which I hope they are quick to fix (if they're legit). The story, which is the least important in any zelda-like game, works and the music is fine. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Airoheart might be the most comprehensive TLoZ: ALttP reimagining I've ever seen. It has it's own map, sprite set, music, and items (to include special item effects). However, at its core, it's still ALttP and it's difficult to do what the original already did...let alone better. I admire Airoheart for its ambition and the sheer amount of work that must have been put into it but even with those acknowledgements, it's hard to see it as anything other than a subpar take on what ALttP already…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I LOVE this game! The visuals are a feast for the eyes and the music is fun- I immediately remembered how I felt playing Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past as a kid. Being able to have that feeling again as an adult was wonderful- hats off to all the developers who made this happen. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →-As stated before by others, great for getting those Zelda feels into you. -decent balance of equipment and puzzle solving. -Personally, I would rather less dialog to get the story to the player. -got stuck longer than expected once trying to leave an open door, apparently I had to swing my sword to get out. (would be fine if it was part of a puzzle or seemingly different from other open doors... but I got it eventually) Overall, enjoying it so far (story progress: main castles completed,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game with high hopes thinking that perhaps it could take aspects of Link To The Past or other Zelda games, recapture them and perhaps even expand on them. This game sorely disappoints in creativity, design and layout. There are tons of design flaws in this game so far, badly crafted dungeons, clunky combat and magic systems and very a boring and unoriginal plot that seems to assume the player has knowledge of past character development and interactions. I will finish the game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I backed your documentary on Kickstarter because I have an Australian video game story I'd like to share. In 2021, I backed a video game called Airoheart, made by Pixel Heart Studios (Gold Coast/Surfer's Paradise). I'd love to see where they are now.
unlabelledView post →This is very similar to The Legend of Zelda A Link To the Past. It is very similar but drags at the last dungeon.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tentatively i'm giving this a thumbs up but so many little things feel off about the game, it plays like it wants to be link to the past but just doesn't get there in any metric. Music is nice.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Zelda like game. A Must have if you enjoyed Zelda for the SNES!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty good so far. Obviously very inspired by LttP, which is one of my all time favorites. There are definitely some areas that need more polish. The asking price is a bit much. I understand the devs poured their blood, sweat, and tears into this but $30 is a bit much. Also decrease the spawn rate of those stupid flies when you destroy bushes. I swear every bush i hit, one pops out. GG
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the vibes are charming and the story is interesting but it's let down by the level design. Everything is so troll based, you lift a pot there's a bomb, you lift another pot and it's a static shock, another pot and its a bomb. mimic chests, random statues on the wall poking you, enemies pushing you off the edge on an icy floor etc. Also the game is reaaallly dark, and there's no brightness setting, so good luck dealing with all those traps in a dark dungeon you can barely see. At least give…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is ridiculously made to be hard and frustrating. Developers should also fix the issue of controls where the hero is not aiming his attacks well on the enemies.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's very Zelda-esque and quaint! There's a story-line that you can put on hold while you find buffs and do little mini side-quests with village folk and people you encounter while exploring. The more you do, the more there is to explore!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Story is like this: Bad guys are bad, you good, go fight evil. Some reviews say its like Zelda A Link to the Past, but sadly no its not. How ever it can have some fun in gameplay, just get it under 10€/$ IMO and only if you really have some time to slay
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is almost great. It just needs some small fixes and maybe a few mechanic changes and it would be a really good game. Unfortunately in the months since I've beaten the game there has only been one small update. Seems the dev isn't really interested in fixing any of the issues. That aside, it's not a bad game to play through once. Just don't expect to be coming back to it after the initial play through.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you love LoZ A Link to the Past, then get this game, it is so reminiscent of it and is great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm enjoying the hell out of this game. It plays like LoZ: ALTTP, but has a much bigger story. It's been really good so far. I highly recommend this one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →OK... It does come off as a Zelda copycat, but that's not a bad thing! So if you're going into this thinking it's going to be EXACTLY like A Link to the Past, you are probably not going to be satisfied. This is an indie game... I think the negative reviews are people wishing it was something developed over many years by Miyamoto/Nintendo R&D Team #1. If you can appreciate it for it's own sake, you'll love it! It has all the elements of a great adventure game. It does have that original…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →please add Steam Deck support! Thank you 😀
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A nice nod to a Link to The Past! I think the reviews are too critical and expected something equal or better to LTTP - which this is not but still worth the money!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One good experience I have from playing this game, is that it fills this niche that has been missing. As a fan of classic action RPGs on the SNES, this is one game I enjoyed on my first play through. Sure, it's a ripoff on a Link to the Past, but the beauty is that it feels fresh. In a way, it takes me back to the good old days when the feeling of getting to play a continuation of your favorite game is a reality.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A mediocre Zelda-like. It has an interesting aesthetic, but invests absolutely nothing in its own conceptual identity. The visuals imitate Zelda’s style far too much, though they do so professionally. Still, the visuals are a strong point of the game perhaps its strongest. (This paragraph contains spoilers). The game’s story leaves much to be desired. It’s simple, highly predictable, overly direct, and lacks narrative richness, dramatic exploration (especially of the villain Carthicus, who…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Soooooo I tried Airoheart. I’d call it a Zelda inspired game but geebas they lift a lot from the link to the past. So much so that I’m surprised Nintendo didn’t lawyer up. But this isn’t my problem with the game
unlabelledView post →Im surprised by the moderate reviews, this is an excellent game, perhaps not quite zelda link to the past, but if you thought that was one of the best games of all time, as many do, Then this game is for you. Excellent pixel art graphics, good music, and good sound. excellent to put many hours in.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fairly solid Zelda-like that has good puzzles, engaging exploration, some interesting secrets, serviceable combat, and appealing pixel art. Unfortunately, it suffers from some poor direction on where to go next in certain parts, some dungeons that are too dark (can be remedied using Special K and using Auto HDR), no dungeon maps which can be truly brutal (it made me really flex my navigational skills), music that isn't very good (in my opinion), and some glitchy mechanics (especially in the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very detail oriented and a nice throwback to the legend of zelda: link to the past
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has a sequel hook so Airoheart 2 could have been a thing. But my friend got burnout- it happens to the best of us- after making the first game. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWVo...
unlabelledView post →Airoheart some really bad controller design that makes the game very much more difficult than it should. Having owned the Super Nintendo and a Link to the Past back in the day I would say this would have been a typical mediocre wanna be of The Legend of Zelda : A Link to the Past. It's passable, but not as will polished as Link to the Past or on the same level as Secret of Gia or Secret of Mana though. Link to the Past has a faster pace action. I could only get my Logitech Gamepad F310 to work…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The title screen made a good first impression—until you start a new game. After the intro, you realize that while you can move up and down with the controllers left stick, you can’t move left or right. The D-pad works fine in all directions, which suggests that the controller support was simply poorly implemented for a "Zelda-like" game. I can’t comment on the gameplay, since I’m not going to play the game any further. The price of the game is just as bad as the controller support...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too painful to play. Hard to navigate, painful dongeons, ennemies that deal way too much damage, slow moving.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The last dungeon is way to hard, nearly impossible! Wanted to beat this game but it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥' impossible so I uninstalled instead. Don't waste your time like I did. ♥♥♥♥ this ♥♥♥♥♥♥' dumb-ass game.

unlabelledView post →Final Update: Do not bother playing this game until an internal map is added. The last dungeon's combination of convoluted layout, lack of a map, high damaging enemies, and retreading old ground makes it a pain to play through. Also updating to my stance to not recommending the game until some of the issues get resolved. Update to this review: After proceeding further in the game I have some concerns: o The shield is basically not functional. It works maybe half of the time and shouldn't…
