Between the accessibility features present in the difficulty presets and sliders (even for platforming difficulty & enemy patterns, which is not very common), the plethora of quality of life features in the infinite map markers, instant fast travel to save points from anywhere, anti-runback boss checkpoints, swappable loadouts even outside of save points, clear indications when you've acquired all "secrets" or items…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Low cost, low time, and overall very well done. The story behind the metroidvania-ing is interesting enough to keep you going, the artwork is simple-but-nice, the upgrades are constant, and the controls are tight. There are some minor annoyances - there are platforming sections, late game, that can be excruciating to get through - but there's also a difficulty setting for those same sections to make them a little easier or even turn them off. I'm aware The Standard Internet Troll would…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very well done metroidvania! Works great on SteamDeck. Excellent, convenient map, beautiful graphics, and music. Special thanks for the flexible difficulty settings — it’s so rare for a metroidvania to let you adjust the difficulty to the level I enjoy. Exploration is a joy too! Haven’t finished it yet, but I’m looking forward to playing more! Highly recommended for players who often find metroidvanias too hardcore due to the lack of difficulty settings, yet still love the genre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best Metroidvania I've played (100+) Playtime until True Ending & 100% completion (blind): 4.5 hours. finished it in 1 sitting. ignore my Steam playtime. This game is so good I ended up buying it (if you know what I mean). Exploration is very fun and rewarding, backtracking doesn't feel like a chore at all because mobility is insanely good in this game. very fast running speed + triple jump. There's a lot of Teleportation/Save points and you can teleport back there anywhere,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →---See where this game landed on my Metroidvania Tier List beneath this rec!--- For a short, basic looking metroidvania this one punches well above its weight. Highly recommend playing on the hardest difficulty setting (you can toggle it at any point) as the easier settings trivialise the game too much. On hardest difficulty settings, enemy attacks are faster, making bosses much more fun to deal with. By about the second boss fight (on hardest difficulty) I knew I was hooked on this game.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game does literally everything a great metroidvania should do. Excellent exploration, meaningful upgrades, fun bosses, gorgeous art, amazing map, good charm variety, well done backtracking, quality of life features galore. Im not finished yet but this is easily in my metroidvania tier list at A tier, maybe even S. Pick it up. Edit: After finishing the game I'm putting this in my S tier. I've played over 300 metroidvanias and this is one of the goats.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game. Was playing on difficult, and was good for me. It's definitely on the easier side. So set it to one above what you normally play at. Controller works well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed playing this game. It's a more story-driven Metroidvania, though there's still plenty of exploration to do. Backtracking feels nice rather than a chore. The game comes in with a whole bunch of built-in anti-frustration features. If you die to a boss, you don't have to make a run of shame back to the boss but instead return to the same room right before fighting the boss. Another is that the section of the map will automatically change color if you've gotten all the items ( I think…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Solid game overall, not too short, not too long, not too expensive. Story was okay, didn't really grab me, but I didn't really try to skip it either so... Good enough. Music was solid. gameplay was where it shined, controls were snappy, action was satisying. Bosses and enemy variety was where the game falls a bit short in my honest opinion. A lot of the bosses could be beaten purely by running up and slashing or shooting fireballs from afar rather effortlessly, granted I only played on…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →tldr; 6 out of 10. Exploration-wise it's pretty straight forward, hidden routes made easy to find, map completion support is there. Parkour difficulty is on the easy side, ignoring one part that needs pixel perfect swimming tech, RAGE. Combat difficulty, I played on the difficulty one below the highest NG+ difficulty and its a chaos. Combat is very poorly balanced. If you're here hoping for an engaging fight then this game isn't for you. Most of the time will end like you just tanking and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Solid metroidvania for the price. The gameplay and controls are responsive and smooth and hits have nice feedback. Normal difficulty is pretty easy but they do have a few other difficulty options if you need more challenge. You can also customize the challenge level with sliders AND can change the difficulty settings at any checkpoint. The pixel art is quite nice as are the character portraits. The story and dialogue is pretty meh and the translation is serviceable but awkward at times.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed it, I hate that it's quite short lol. Overall it's in the milder side.. if you play tons of metroidvania that is. The game is player friendly in my opinion - very few maps where traps are nuts, you can make them easier with difficulty settings too. I like that people are kind enough to put it there, after all, not everyone's a masochist spending 3hrs or so just clearing a map full of traps and calling it 'great game' :). relaxing game albeit short. I really wish it was long. I reckon…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I beat Shattered divinities in a little under 6 hours (if you don't include watching the credits roll) which is just short enough to call it a microvania in my opinion. In this subcategory it is easily among the best ones, maybe even in the top 5 along the likes of sheepo and deedlit in wonder labyrinth. Reason being that shattered divinities has excellent exploration and level design that checks off all the metroidvania hallmarks despite its short runtime. The map is densly packed with several…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a solid title in the genre with snappy gameplay and a decent story, however gameplay is more simple than others. While I can recommend this game to new players of the genre I believe veterans will find the experience a little easy, even at it's highest difficulty. Kudos to the devs for creating a solid gameplay experience, I hope you bring what was learned here to something new and develop your skill further.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I generally don't prefer the "cutesy" variety of metriodvanias, but this one is kinda fun! The areas are varied enough, the enemies are... you know, ok-ish. The bosses are even more ok-ish. The platforming, combat and characters are all ok-ish. And that's really all you need for a game to be fun, right? The story isn't anything to write home about, but suffices in pushing you along. Overall it's easy. Even on "difficult" difficulty. There's one level above that named "lunatic" or something…
The game is fantastic, it's been a long time since I've played such a comfortable…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty good game. Story: It is told in fragments such as murals or other notes typically. Four deities that who toyed with humans, and a fifth that was hidden from their purpose who brought about the end of the gods. It is an interesting story with two endings as far as I know. System: You have some equipment slots that enhances capabilities either natural or skill enhancements, stuff like that. The combat is also smooth. There is also a summon system. Art: Really good Overall: It is a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game for fans of the metroidvania genre. Exploration is especially rewarding with tons of hidden paths, alternate paths and useful collectibles at all the appropriate spots. Definite recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(100% complete in 10 hrs). This was an incredible game. It was certainly not the #1 best game I have ever played, but I was thoroughly entertained the entire time and would recommend it to anyone. The art is beautiful and the gameplay is very well done, with a great overall story. I got lost a couple of times, but it was pretty easy to get back on track. I think it is definitely reasonable to 100% this game even faster than I did, but it was my first game on a keyboard so I had to get used to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was a decent experience. Just enough mecanics to have fun for 7-10 hours. I had more fun in this game than with hollow knight.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A pretty and simple yet fun and rewarding metroidvania that allows you to customize the difficulty to your liking. Will it blow your mind? No, but it is more than worthy of your time and money.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a fantastic game, has difficulty and accessibility options that can tailor your enjoyment to. Great fun time and highly recommended, I loved this game, so much fun! A myst play metroidvania
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a short and straightforward game. You can tell it was made on a budget, but they still executed it remarkably well. For its price, it’s definitely worth it. While it doesn't bring anything groundbreaking to the table, it’s fun in its own way. If you’re looking for something that won't take up too much of your time and you enjoy Metroidvania, you should definitely give this a shot and support the developer.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best way I can describe it is a comfort food metroidvania: It's not very long (about 5-6 hours for 100%), it's not a particularly big world to explore, it's pretty easy (even on the higher difficulties), and it showers with you with upgrades, some of which absolutely shatter the already fragile difficulty curve. The combat is fine at first, but the charm system lets you put together some horrendously overpowered builds (not helped by the fact that you can pick up to 9(?!?) perks at once at…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good metroidvania, nothing really special here but it controls nicely and story is entertaining enough. Seems like these devs first attempt at a metroidvania and at least they made something cool. Got all achievements in under 6h (playing on Inferno diff) but It's pretty packed with boss fights, stuff to find, abilities, etc. If it's on sale don't make excuses and get it! :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not sure it's worth its price tag, because the game is very short, and very linear (I 100% it and it didn't take more than few hours). Overall I enjoyed it, but it was really easy and didn't feel like a true metroidvania, rather a fast spam platformer (the fights are pretty easy even on the hard difficulties which you have to use if you want to get any resemblance to other metroidvanias' difficulty level). overall a 6.8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super solid metroidvania. A bit short but for the price, totally worth it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good metroidvania. Looks great, great music, the character moves smoothly and the attack animation feels good, plentiful upgrades to customize the character, the enemies, especially bosses, aren't annoying, the map is streamlined and satisfying to explore, great quality of life including customizable difficulty, and the story is even decent. Honestly, it's underpriced for the quality, even with it being on the shorter side (6-8 hours). Really, my only complaints are that some of the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really good metroidvania. Kinda short, but good. I think my biggest issue with it though is that it's somewhat unremarkable. It doesn't do anything new here. It borrows a lot from Hollow Knight, but unlike that game this is very very easy, even on the hardest difficulty, I didn't die one time the whole way through. I like the story, kinda sad but thoughtful, it's good. The gameplay is fun, the upgrades and exploration all feel great to achieve. Rewarding and such. Except, every area…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game, but not great 7/10 - The things that holding back are platforming designed. I don't know whose I idea to think that will be challenging if put some kind of rift gate in platforming and force player to just drop dead on 1st try. This design didn't call challenging but it's call dumb and unfair. TBH I die on 1 route of platforming more than all bosses in the game combine together. The other parts like combat and story kinda mid, but consider with its price, Its acceptable. Would be…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short game, easy combat and platforming. Pretty good overall
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good map, good movement, good combat. Not great or incredible, but good. A couple interesting ideas with combat 'styles' where they clearly tailored a bunch of skills and abilities to fit into one of a few niches, which do feel at least a little distinct. Overall a fun way to spend a few hours, not bad to 100%. The EN translation could use a little work; some things just come off as awkward, stilted, or somewhat hard to read, but the overall message got through OK.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved this game, short and sweet perfect for multiple runbacks like a MV should. Pros: + Map makes a SFX ping and turns a color when a section is completed + Fake walls jiggle a little so no slashing at random walls the whole game + No level ups + Very customizable difficulty + Fast Travel from the jump + Checkpoints before bosses (no runbacks) + Mini map in top left corner + Monster variety, not many if any recolors + Pixel graphics and hand drawn art are awesome + Music has this 2000s midi…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →- 7.7/10 - Short & Decent MVania.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty good game for the fall sale, really good for people that like to complete the map combat is pretty straightforward it can get a bit repetitive in the beginning but once you get those abilities unlocked bosses will start melting, lore is good I will say there is a good amount of unnecessary dialogue and being a chinese game the translation isn't 100% accurate. 8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game! Game play elements are solid and its not mundane or repetative.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic little game well worth the price. Great story and the combat progressively becomes fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A short (only like 4 hours to complete) but decent metroidvania with a nice art style and fun platforming and action. The translation is stiff but decent enough to understand what's going on. Would recommend on sale
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've only beat a few bosses, but I'm actually enjoying this game quite a bit! I encountered a very rare bug getting stuck in the floor after a combination of buttons were pressed, but a quick teleport got me unstuck. I'm working on my first metroidvania so when I saw this game, I had to try it, being that it is an indie. Honestly, if I could release a game this good as my first solo indie, I'd be doing pretty well!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great game. fun to explore all areas. I like the ability to adjust difficulty. story is interesting. combat feels great and the attack abilities are useful. nice simple metroidvania. played for about 4 hours, can tell im near then end of the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good game, the movement is so fluid and nice, the abilities mesh well with the environment and the platforming can be changed to suit your difficulty level, the only problems i noticed were that the reminders that you can lower the difficulty is a bit too frequent almost any platforming section and figuring out how to get the true ending is a little confusing to figure out but over all i give the game a 9/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its great so far story is ok as well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Personally, the game is not for me. It is a very easy and forgettable MV. The biomes are nothing special and have mostly no impact on the game play anyway (except for the Ice Area maybe?) Even on the highest difficulty the game is extremely easy. The platforming can be changed from easy to hard but I did not understand why. Even the optional challenges are pretty easy. Overall it's playable but for my taste simply to easy (both platforming and fighting), exploration was kinda boring and the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A little on the short side, but very much worthwile for most people to try. The story is decently good and somewhat interesting, they do a better job of making you care about the final fight than most games... The world is decently big and varied, a good few different enemies to fight and a number of bosses as well. There's plenty of unlocks and things to find and explore for, and overall it's just a fairly good experience. There's also a way to replay individual boss fights, or do them in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little game. Traversal is fairly easy and the enemies are varied. Bosses aren't giant HP sponges and actually have some strategy behind them without feeling like a slog. It's not a long game at all. About 4 hours for the true ending if you've played metroidvania's before. There are a couple of fairly frustrating platforming challenges. One of which I wouldn't even call platforming so much as a war of attrition but it can be skipped if you don't want the true ending. They are challenging…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent game but very easy
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super fun game. Good combat, variety of play styles. Simple but heartbreaking story.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shattered Divinities is another Chinese metroidvania, I noticed it because of its bundling with Journey of Realm: Dawn Dew which has a similar aesthetic and feel but is a side view turn based RPG with some platforming elements. This one doesn't break any ground, the upgrades are what you expect, the QoL is decent, and the enemies are nothing unique but work. This is only a 6 hour game to get all upgrades, both endings, and 100% map, so if you want something longer, you might want to look…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved this game. Combat and platforming were great on hardest difficulty. Super fun game that doesn’t take 80hrs to complete. Tons of fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →short but good. some game breaking bug forced me to restart though
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun but extremely short. I 100% everything in 5 hours
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it is fun EXPLORATION mainly . the game is kinda easy and short even in inferno . you gotta play in the last difficulty if you want challenge . BUT GOODNESS THE ICE AREA IS SO ANNOYING i had to skip the jump challenge because it was impossible. good thing they even put the skip option for it the female lead is so unique though she feels so real with her comments i liked her dynamic with everyone
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →like everybody else said, too short, too easy, but a hell of a lot of fun to play if it's on sale, buy it immediately
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rather short and easy compared to other Metroidvanias but thorougly enjoyable. Achievemnts are nice and non missable. HAd a really good time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →kinda easy becuz of broken damage, also the game sometimes shattered exactly like the game title lol but still, this game is pretty good ngl
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely one of the easiest/casual metroidvanias out there but an extremely solid game that really scratched that itch. They really nailed what made Metroidvania games great! Couldn't put the game down after playing and finished with 100% in about 5 hours. Highly recommend, even more so with its low price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little metroidvania. Overall progression is linear at a few critical points, but the path to get to each point is non-linear. Narrative and characters were also decently engaging. My main complaint is that it was too easy and I wish I put it on a harder difficulty setting (I played on "Difficult", which felt extremely easy).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Today on the stream: trying out a new puzzle game, The Message from Deep Space, and more Shattered Divinities if we wrap that up quickly. Starting at 4 PM! youtube.com/live/kC6octq...
unlabelledView post →Always liked 2D action side scroller, was not expecting much but I actually enjoyed this game. The combat is good, abilities is also good, story is straightforward but I felt bad that it is a short game. Still recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Where do i start? The game play was fun and fast but quickly noticed how easy it became as soon as i got the ability to block. The balance is out of sorts, and ii was playing on inferno because i thought it would be a good starting point. I dog walked the bosses through the entire game after getting blocking. It took me 4 hrs to beat the game (i spent 1 hr wandering around to find out how to get the true ending.) is it worth $10s? it depends on you. was it fun? yes i had fun but dont look for…
