49 of 49 · most liked firstBy today standards this game is dated, and so I was hoping it may still be fun. But the truth is there is very little to have fun with. The game is dated, no one plays online, the arcade singleplayer action is too easy. In just a few minutes I went through 1/3 of the races, all in first place or top speed through. Wish I could say something about this game was fun as racing with semi trucks is a really fun idea, espicially since I'm a truck driver. But sadly there is nothing I can say that is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A decent vehicular combat game, but with a truck instead of a plain car. That in itself makes it worth a recommendation for me. The graphics are nothing to write home about but the gameplay is solid, and it's always fun driving around blowing up other cars. The AI starts out braindead but as you progress, it begins to give more and more of a challenge.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first impression of this game is that graphics do look rather dated, but I have never been one to get hung up on graphics. You are driving a truck that can switch between a race mode with jet engines on the back and a battle mode where it is bristling with weapons and spikes how can this not be awesome? However it somehow manages to be mediocre. As you progress through the game you unlock new weapons and upgrades for you truck. The developers have tried very hard to add a variety in the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice B type game. Good to kill time and relax.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ALthough I've only started playing this game, it's already full of promise. I had to wonder when I first bought the game, "How much fun can it really be racing a truck?" I hadn't accounted for the rocket jets, chainguns, fierce competition or challenging opponents. Definitely do not regret buying this game, and look forward to completing it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is fun even for an old game but multi-player only works on lan not over the internet.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Russian video game industry died soon after it was properly born. Together with pretty much everything else in the country. But before that, there were some pretty interesting releases that kind of deserved attention. And this is the one of them. Do you like games like Carmageddon and Interstate series? Well, then keep reading. Maybe it'll worth for you to check this game out. Maybe not, though. Just keep swimming reading. Sledgehammer (aka Gear Grinder) was made by Targem Games, the guys…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Somewhat decent game, gameplay is fun but the story is an absolute mess thanks to poor translation since this was originally in Russian.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are elements of fun here, but inconsistent framerate and less-than-perfect controls keep it from being everything it could be. Any events that don't require precision are decently entertaining, but unfortunately those are too few and far between. I'll just go back to dreaming about Burnout Revenge getting a PC release. Update: After changing the .exe to launch in Windows XP compatibility mode, performance is improved slightly. Still not great, and not enough to change my mind about not…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Despite its age, this game is still pretty good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome game! Big trucks, cool music, adrenaline gameplay. I like it! :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I fairly enjoyed this game until I came to a point that completely stopped my progress. There are 3 missions crammed together, first you race, then you shoot cops, and then you must escape the cops by cosntantly destroying their cars along your escape route so you get like a few seconds from each police car you destory. The problem is that you must not just escape, but you must wait for the cars to appear while wasting precious seconds and taking huge care that they don't destroy your truck,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't believe that Hugh Jackman dubbed this game! Thums up for Hugh!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sledgehammer (aka Gear Grinder) is one of those weird games that can only come out of Russia... in a parallel future, where trucks can transform from jet-engined superracer into an armored and heavily armed beast, and police are packed with gatling guns and more and enforce laws with lethal force, you have been executed for slaughtering innocents with your truck, but you woke up mysteriously next to a shiny new transforming truck... and was told to get through some training so you can undergo…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Would be nice if they fixed the game and not abandon it. Pretty fun and I can only imagine how fun multiplayer was...Can you please update this game and fix the multiplayer thanks. Yes single player is just as fun but multiplayer would be so much better.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a really good concept but the enemies even on the hardest difficulty were still extremley easy to beat. For anyone who has played Twisted Metal (The ones on PS1) and remembers Darkside, this is pretty much that. So for Twisted Metal fans I will recommend this game but overall I just won't recommend it for how easy it is.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a lovely brand of awful Russian jank. Plot points get skipped, the cutscenes are hilariously bad, and there's only one vehicle. However, there are a bunch of different gameplay elements and level types, and as I mentioned the cutscenes are awful. It's great. You can beat the game in a few hours, you won't get bored, and there are a bunch of weapon unlocks. I recommend this title.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Feels and looks like something from the PS2/Xbox era, but in 1080p. Some missions are easy as pie and some are so hard you just want to end your life, but overall it was a fun short ride and I would recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a small Carmageddon-Styled game about racing your truck from start to finish including guns, guns, guns, explosions and nitro. However the game is not good but it's not bad too. It has that pretty good TruckMageddon style but it gets quite boring after a while, after the campaign you can't do anything, only repeat the missions, the graphics are kinda outdated and the voice dubbing/cover is not the best. This game was originally made by Russians and its basic language was Russian which…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is fun. 'nuff said.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked the original concept of this game. You are an escaped convict who get entangled with mob clans so you fight against both the law in order to escape and mob members and bosses. You have a license to destroy everything in your path (traffic cars, buildings etc ) and even receive bonuses for doing so. It reminded me of Carmageddon that I played in the 90's. You have a campain with many types of missions, like: armed truck races, battles with cop cars and other types of armored mob cars…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool but short game about crazy freedom loving psycho driving armed truck and causing havoc on streets. You have races, car combat, police chases, time attacks and many more interesting missions to play and earn better upgrades and weapons for your truck.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It doesn't matter how cheap the game is, its crap!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was drinking when I bought this. It's awful whether sober or drunk.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sledgehammer / Gear Grinder takes the simple idea of putting enormous weapons on heavy trucks and builds an entire arcade experience around speed, collisions, gunfire, and destruction. Developed by Targem Games and published by ESDigital Games, it sits somewhere between an arcade racer and a vehicular combat game, with little interest in realistic motorsport. Instead, the road becomes a battlefield where reaching the destination is often less important than surviving whatever is trying to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely enjoyed this game alot. This feels like mix of flatout and carmageddon for some reason lol. But i really hated the physics, too inconsistent and may cause you to lose a few times.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →And this game has better reviews then ridge racer unbounded? It was a peace of old russian code that was like 20 years outdated even for the moment of its release. Didn't worse even that 30 cents I spent on sale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sledgehammer / Gear Grinder pros: fast game with modern day graphics with easy controls that moves from location A to B to C and so on, good amount of action and special effects, cons: some difficult races/objectives. some lack of instructions/objectives aren't clear. good game. Personal Suggested Purchase Price: $0.99 Or Less During Sale
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sledgehammer / Gear Grinder Positives: + You get to blow ♥♥♥♥ up + Good handling for a truck + You can upgrade to new cool weapons and better parts along the way + Story mode (not the best, but still much better than nothing) + Some of the missions are really cool + The satisfaction of destroying everything in your path + Good sound and music + A nice world to drive in + Race/combat transformer function Negatives: - Difficulty spikes - A lot of bugs - Because of the above the game is…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an easy to munch carsmashfest.. you just.. slamm'em :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Better to grab it at 0.79 when it really goes on sale since it's not worth the 7.99 or 8 bucks should I say. To be honest it's pretty legit minus the the voice acting and the blant story but the gameplay isn't that bad. I'm one of those people who still play old games on Steam and want something cheap but pretty good at the same time. I can play this game when I'm bored or if I'm using a low end computer if I don't have access to my PC or if I'm on the go so this can be an exception. Graphics…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I LOVE this game. I started playing it and was hooked. The graphics aren't 1080p / HD, but that’s not what I wanted, or what my computer could handle. The missions are fun, can get a little repetitive, but I had to beat all of them (except one) on the gold difficulty. I couldn't wait to upgrade my truck and rampage through the next level. So much fun. Definitely recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'll take you for a ride On my garbage truck Truck, Truck, Truck!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I managed to remember half of this game's name from when I played some demo of it when I was like 8 so I decided why not buy some old ass 2008 game that I don't even have nostalgia for but just happened to remember out of the hundreds of demos I downloaded on my moms pc. The game is pretty decent fun and the super cheesy acting and story I could barely even understand was pretty comedic.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sledge Hammer (aka Gear Grinder) is a short but fairly fun truck combat game. The graphics aren't great and the voice-acting is pretty bad, but the action is fast and the explosions and crashes are plentiful. There's a story in Sledge Hammer, but it's merely an excuse to get the player behind the wheel of a Mad Max-styled truck bristling with weapons and armour and destroy everything that moves. Completing missions unlocks performance upgrades and new weapons for the truck, but unlocking these…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the most bada$$ driving games, blast the enemies and see them fly off in spectacular explosions!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is missing something to recommend it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →🔥🖤🔥Phantom Like🔥🖤🔥
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Old game, can still be played today and still is fun to play.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sledgehammer/Gear Grinder is the follow up to Roadkill from 2003. It is an incredible car combat game that blows away its predecessor in every way. This game is a MUST HAVE for fans of Twisted Metal and car combat in general. Sledgehammer/Gear Grinder is the Deus Ex of car combat games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR; if you want to go on a terrifying rampage in an armoured semi truck, this should do it for you. This one has a few great points: 1. Interesting backstory with a dark edge to it, not too overdone on cutscenes. 2. Gameplay is exciting with numerous game modes and lots of playability. 3. The vehicle concept is just awesome (With first person cab view) and the weapon effects are particularly good. 4. Great customizations and upgrades, all the usual good stuff you expect. I am happy I bought…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tags: Driving & Racing - Combat Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Ram to frag. Slower than Ridge Racer4: Unbounded. More confused minigames-oriented storymode with bad dialogyue. Play RR4:U instead. http://store.steampowered.com/app/202310/Ridge_Racer_Unbounded/ Has Xbox360 pad and resolutions but looks dated. Immersive in first person. Arcade like driving. Weapons and nitro. Asymetrical combat against tons of smaller cars usually. Occasional races between big…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lots of rootie, tootie, aim and shootie, very arcade. Straightforward and simple. Great fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →could have been better
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An old classic shootem up type game for the old fashion type gamer that like games in the win vista versions wouldnt have it any other way in a classic game like this. I give the game a 8 out of 10 review just becasue its an old fashion game in todays gamer social hub it would not be the best choice for a hard core gamer at all.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have no fckn idea why I bought this game.
