unlabelledView post →A HIDDEN LIFE is THE movie you need to see right now: a true story of an Austrian farmer called to fight with the Nazis. What would you do?
unlabelledView post →Watched Terrence Malick's A Hidden Life: incredible film on the crushing pressure of living in a dictatorship. Franz Jägerstätter was an Austrian farmer who refused to fight for Hitler. Moments reminded me of my grandpa's memoir of prison during Stalin's purges www.npr.org/2019/12/23/7...

unlabelledView post →"Disclosure Day is first and foremost a religious movie" while probably the right and most interesting read, doesn't change the fact I have LIKED religious movies. A Hidden Life!!!! Ordet!!!! It's like Dreyer by way of Spielberg and I dunno. It might still be a mess
unlabelledView post →Watched A HIDDEN LIFE (2019). I've almost completed Terrence Malick's filmography and I'm beginning to worry that he's never made a film with an exploding helicopter.
unlabelledView post →Going to a buddy's 40th tomorrow; he's rented out a theater to make all his friends watch his favorite movie, A Hidden Life. Utmost respect. Proud to know someone who can pull this kind of power move.

It does make me think about the terrible choices people have had to face at times in the past. A favorite movie of mine is A Hidden Life, which explores these issues.

unlabelledView post →The first great film I’ve seen this year, A HIDDEN LIFE is all the best parts of Terrence Malick, with far less of what drove me away. #filmsky #letterboxd
unlabelledView post →Glad the Haptic vs. Optic youtube video mentioned A Hidden Life, a movie that is Good and Looks Good
unlabelledView post →Which comes back to the movie “A Hidden Life”, which I was discussing with Ben Marsh I believe it was, which shows in stark, depressing terms the price a person can pay for speaking against the tribe.
unlabelledView post →People justifiably love ANDOR, but I would also direct people to Terrance Malik's unfairly overlooked 2019 film A HIDDEN LIFE, which is the true story of an Austrian man from a rural mountain village who saw what the Nazis were and very firmly, but very peacefully, simply refused to comply.
unlabelledView post →A HIDDEN LIFE My wife & I just watched one of the most stunning, beautiful, unique, artistic films we have ever seen. Each scene & set is like a piece of art throughout the 3 hours of the movie. Set in 1939 Austria through 1943. It is SO appropriate for our time where our nation is being taken...

unlabelledView post →Everybody should watch and meditate on the movie A Hidden Life. I did not know of the Curragh Incident. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

A Hidden Life - incredible film Protestants "have" Babette's Feast - sure, a weird break off sect in Denmark but we'll take it #hatm

unlabelledView post →I'm showing Malick's A HIDDEN LIFE to my Theology and Film students this evening as an extra credit screening. The film's political relevance has only become more urgent since its release in 2019.
unlabelledView post →Watching A Hidden Life right now. The first bit of the movie is showing what a wonderful life the family had. Then there's a scene with the mayor talking about how things were in shambles before Hitler took over.
unlabelledView post →I guess I wonder why I like Tree of Life and a Hidden Life so much more than this movie. Am I just open to Malick's style of woo-woo more? Is it an aesthetics thing? Or is there something else that cuts me off from it
unlabelledView post →Also, "A Hidden Life" continues to seem like an essential movie for our times in terms of personal and political moral courage. Malick has given us so much beauty and truth.
unlabelledView post →Fascinating story. . . Also reminds me of Terrance Malick's beautiful movie "A Hidden Life," about Franz Jägerstätter, who refused to fight for the Nazis.
unlabelledView post →It's so good. Possibly a top-ten film for me. Though I also need to rewatch, and the competition is fierce. In the years since I saw it, Aguirre the Wrath of God and A Hidden Life have claimed some of the high ground.

unlabelledView post →Personally, it was my movie of 2011, but I've hesitated to revisit it. Plus Malick's output since makes it feel a little less special and unique. I haven't seen A HIDDEN LIFE yet, but TO THE WONDER, KNIGHT OF CUPS and SONG TO SONG are improv/jazz filmmaking with diminishing returns.
unlabelledView post →Tough call if I'm being honest here. 1. The Exorcist 2. The Wicker Man 3. Mononoke Hime (maybe 10? Has to be close to) Honorable mention: A Hidden Life (bit of a cheat here as it's likely 6 but no doubt will be 10 plus in time. Fuck i love that film. Malick's best imo)

unlabelledView post →If you don't know the story and the significance of Franz Jägerstätter's witness to the love and peace of Christ in times of extreme social sin, I suggest watching Terrence Malik's beautiful film, "A Hidden Life." 2/2
unlabelledView post →The movie "A Hidden Life," based on real events, is the story of a little known Austrian farmer, Franz Jägerstätter, who refused to fight for the Nazis in World War II, and his family. It is a beautiful and devastating movie.

unlabelledView post →(I think I just need to buckle down and finally write something about Malick's "A Hidden Life", a film that fascinates & vexes me & shows what's lacking in so many films aping Malick's style without the depth of his philosophical & religious convictions. Malick is earnest for purpose, not vibes.)
unlabelledView post →We also saw Wake Up Dead Man last night and I thought it was the best Christian film that I've seen since A Hidden Life. Probably not what was intended. 😆
unlabelledView post →It’s not exactly a popular film, but I found Terrence Malick’s A Hidden Life, which tells Franz Jägerstätter’s story, quite affecting. www.euppublishing.com/doi/full/10....

Too lyrical for its own good, still this is a powerful #film about one person standing against #fascism.

unlabelledView post →I watched it some years ago, A Hidden Life, a film by Terrance Malick about Franz Jägerstätter, an Austrian conscientious objector, a deeply religious man during World War II who was martyred for refusing to swear loyalty to Hitler and was imprisoned and executed.
unlabelledView post →A Hidden Life is a melancholic beautiful movie. I never heard of Franz Jägerstätter before this movie, and I cannot comment on the historical accuracy; but the movie itself is a great biopic. (1/3)

unlabelledView post →I agree. Terrence Malick made another war movie thats an anti-war movie. I loved it too: A Hidden Life
