Developer Fulqrum Publishing
Planet Alcatraz is a 3D role playing game with isometric projection. The player travels through the game world and fights against enemies in the real-time mode.Several genres are mixed in this game but despite that fact it isn't stuck between them and appears to be a classical RPG that is based on a specially developed system. 60 of 130 · most liked firstPlanet Alcatraz is a decent RPG with a Fallout vibe. The combat system is more in line with the Baldurs Gate and Icewind Dale games i.e. Combat is in real time but you can pause the action with the space bar to issue commands. As other reviewers have stated the English translation and voice acting are terrible but can often be (unintentionally) amusing. However bad the translation is it does not prevent you from following the plot or understanding what to do next. The minimum spec graphics…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, english localization actually not very good, but I played it in Russian and this game is quite solid. Graphics is slightly outdated, game mechanics somewhat cranky, but - RPG system is nice, story is excellent, quests are very fun, lots of weapons and skills, large game world (prison planet). 8/10 for Russian version and it seems 6/10 or 7/10 for English version.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My brother made this ridiculously high-effort Planet Alcatraz 2 thumbnail. This might be the first instance of anyone making “fan art” for that game.
unlabelledView post →I kind of like it! The voice acting in the earlier parts might turn you off, but the gameplay has a bit of depth to it. The main problem is in the localization. Somewhere in-between the Russian version to the English version, the intended gritty setting got lost. However the much lesser English version is now hilariously funny due to the lacking voice work. It's like watching one of those B-movies and having a "good time" by making fun of it, but along the way you find a thing or two you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ouch. That's all I SHOULD say. But I feel the need to explain. The worst voice acting I have ever encountered and I am including Gemini Wars in that comparison. It sounds as if one guy did the voices for all the characters. The character sprites are a mess. The graphics are not TOO bad considering the game as a whole. I like RPG games and can forgive them a lot. IF you can get past the voice and the horrific translation work then it is enjoyable but considering this is the same people who…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like party-based isometric RPGs, this is not the best one in terms of story but the gameplay is pretty good, and if you get a deal on it then it may surprise you with how fun it can be. +Combat is fun and a mix of real-time and tactics, very similar to Fallout 1-2 or Baldur's Gate style. +Good number of skills and abilities to develop as you level to tailor to your playstyle +Huge variety of weapons from brooms and shovels to pistols, sawed-off shotguns, and hi-tech blasters. -Terrible…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Horrible game, just janky. The voice acting is horrible. The animation is horrible, The combat is horrible. I'm confused as to why the community like this game. I get chills just thinking about this horrible game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WARNING Game is NOT politically correct. That's because it was made in eastern europe where this stuff is not as stronk compared to the west. I come to the prison planet Fight with homemade armament Heal my wounds with potatoes and carrots Listen to terrible jokes (about sex and else) Kicks a lot of butts I can rule the planet with my dropshipped power armor and laser rifles. But all I got is Private rank Of course the game have problems, but what game doesn't? Melee combat is wonky and have…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After the character creation, which is basically exactly the same as Fallout's, I, Boar, survived a crash landing on Planet Alcatraz. When I regained my consciousness, two men with meat cleavers stood in front of me. Disco music started playing and I killed my first opponent by kicking him in the balls. The next guy took a few punches into his face, but I won. I took their clothes off and put on a poncho. Suddenly, an injured man without pants crawled towards me and asked me to end his life.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game feels like Riddick and Fallout had a baby. A russian baby that couldn't talk but otherwise had the best attributes of both. The gameplay is basically Fallout with RTWP combat, and the story (if you can deciper it) works pretty well (good justification for why gear would ramp up the way it does, and a lot of scrounging). The game is surprisingly fun as long as you can ignore the voiceovers and can translate some of the translations. Don't necessarily expect a huge number of non-combat…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can compare this game with only "Mass Effect" 1/2/3 because the dynamic of events remotely similar to the story Shepard. The perfect game to play with the whole family ...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Apart from the terrible translation which the people responsible for should be sacked this is a very good game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In general: This game has nice ideas and nice death moments, which can easily triggered by chosing wrong dialogue option. Some are hilarious, some are simply annoying. Fighting: The guards will sometimes attack you even if you've put away your weapon (just happened to me, and I noticed it when I had already saved my game...) and they're so tough you probably won't beat them. Well, when it comes to fighting the whole fighting system is a huge mess it feels so clunky it ruined the gaming…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →l always find the russian rpg's creative. they have always new ideas about the classic genres. For this rpg: its a nice game with a lots of fun. no mages no spell casting, it has a different tough world. if you get bored of high fantasy spell casting rpg games give it a try. I think Price is really cheap for a game like this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ways this game could be improved: Simpler graphics. No voice acting. No cinematics. These slipshod attempts at polish greatly hinder the gameplay experience. When combined with a horrific and klunky interface experience, this game feels overpriced at 3.99. There might be a decent RPG experience in there somewhere, but good luck getting to it. I cannot help but wonder how authentic any of the positive reviews are for this abortion.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tips for Professorial Players: - Give as many points as you can to "Constitution" and "Perception" upon character build to gain more lvl points - Up your "Stealing" and "Trade" Skill together until both reach 100 (Stealing first and then Trade), this way you'll gain more experience while stealing items as their price goes higher (it has a limit but effect the XP gained via stealing) - As soon as you gain a few levels pick "Botanist" perk to gain more points per lvl - Once you're increased…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has amazing combat system that mix of RTS and RPG. Other stuffs like story, musics, graphic are moderate. If it is going on sale, you should try it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Planet ALcatraz is a fun and cynical RPG I recommend everything to fans of black humor and non-standard quests. The prison atmosphere, various groups and fights between them will not let you get bored. Go from a bunch of ragamuffins to a squad in homemade exoskeletons and thwart a sinister plot.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun rpg game!! This game is similar to fallout 2 game. Only thing i did not like about the game was the start of it which they kinda just throw you right into the combat, without any help or telling you the controls, but once you got it figured out the game gets FUN! Pros Use melee items to hit or throw with Skill points to upgrade your character (if you dont upgrade the right skill you may just find the game impossible) Missions are well made Can control a squad of 4 Cons Terrible…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nowadays, in the times of intolerance, sexism and racism this game is a real gem, unfortunately forgotten. The game shows respect and sympathy to all the minorities! Just as an example recall the wedding between Roma and Julie happened in the game! 10/10! Recommend!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Planet Alcatraz (2006) is a RPG game with a system resembling Fallout but mostly seems combat oriented. There is no speech / persuade skills other than a vague attitude stat. You collect items, complete quests, gain xp and level up. There are multiple paths and choices and consequences. It was mentioned having bad translation, and some bugs, playing many many old games, I thought I was ready for those. However, it was worse than I expected. Playing a game this old, graphics are no concern…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →All newfangled "Desperados" and "Fallouts" pale in comparison to this game! Only Russian souls can understand the meaning and appreciate the game. Even after so many years, the game is relevant and original. Only for those who understand, the rest will waste their money...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The voice acting is so bad, it's comical. I disregarded that and gave it a good shot, because the game showed potential in the setting and RPG mechanics. The first map is almost all right. Just don't get attached to your equipment or let it influence your build. You can defeat the big beast at the end by eating 63 potatoes while fighting. And you should, because nothing will carry out to the next map except your xp. Fast erosion came from the dialogues, not from their broken English, but from…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No atmosphere, wrong music, stupid(but funny) dialogue and a clumsy combat system. What else you need to not buy this game?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's a sunny afternoon in kiev. you're talking a brisk walk after getting lunch, and suddenly you step on a fargus-published copy of the one and only Санитары подземелий, produced by GOBLIN... you look at it with interest and take it home. after you install it, your graphics card suddenly takes upon a life of its own and nearly kills itself from overheating because the devs of this game forgot to put in actual functioning vsync. you grumble in defeat and pick up a copy of some random stalker…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dialogue was written by Russian 4th-graders and voice acted by their dads after several rounds of Vodka shots. 2002 called and wants its graphics back. 1997 called and is demanding their animations back. Soundtrack is stripped from 1987 pornos. Best $2 I've spent all year. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've finished the game and I do not recommend it, mostly because of the atrocious english translation. There's A LOT of text to read in this game and there are so many sentences that make no sense at all. This translation was horrible and I cannot take this game seriously. The game also almost never closes completely but keeps running in the background like some kind of spyware. Ask me questions about the game if you want.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unplayable russian fallout-like fan fiction with a prison jargon.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game begins with a huge rocket dropping a big load on the face of a dirty ♥♥♥♥♥ planet. *fap* *fap* *fap* 10/10 for huge rockets with big loads.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game. It plays sort of like Icewind Dale, in terms of a more or less straight shot party based rtwp rpg, but with fallout skill system. It's an immensely goofy game, which is only further increased by the incredible english voice acting. The combat encounters are difficult but fair and there is a good amount of sidequests if you like that type of thing. Don't let the visuals fool you, if you like squad based combat and translated absurdity you will love this game. Healthy…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately. this game has not aged well, compared to more recent additions to this genre. It is difficult to see inside buildings and the birds-eye view of the main character does not help. One cannot see what he does. The annoying frustration factor is too overwhelming. 3/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's buggy, the translation is an incomprehensible mess and the voice acting so bland and context inappropriate it made me laugh and cringe every time anyone said anything but I still enjoyed it. Wish I spoke Russian so I could understand the original prison slang...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →bad game, a wasted effort of time. it's a shame because the ideas behind Planet Alcatraz are pretty awesome. it's a good RPG but suffers from some cons that area a death sentence - it's tedious: this is not a single thing but instead a bunch of little defects that makes playing this game very frustrating. for example, sometimes the movement mode changes to walk with no apparent reason. or it lacks a feature to compare items with the ones worn. the character movement is slow, even in run mode.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Spoiled... Everything just dont make sense. At first, i thought that it is a good game just that graphics were a little bad but still a positive one. However, after playing, the entire first few "stages" were like just plain dumb and difficulty level is so weird..
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Omg this is so bad on so many level... At least that make me laugh a bit
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not only about the voice acting. I actually changed to Russian and it's a lot better, but the game is not smooth at all and the animations aren't really great ..And it even doesn't let you crouch or change your movement style, that sucks for this kind of tactic game.. I finished Marauder and my expectations was big for this game but.. well, if you can overpass this tiny annoying problems that I think it's important, according to the people who finish the game, you have a cool game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's basically Fallout, except it's made by someone who doesn't understand what made Fallout so great.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Started the game as a prisoner. Found a cleaver. Found potatoes. Killed locals with my cleaver while eating potatoes. 10/10 would cleaver potato kill locals again.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In the first 15 minutes playing this game: >drink vodka, became drunk >attacked by random aliens that look like regular people no choice but to kill them with bare fists >kill young gorilloid with machete heal 10x with potatoes (dark souls level difficulty) >caught by bald big faced Russian soldiers sent to outerspace russian gulag
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In the first 20 minutes I made a character so weak he couldn't hold a knife, and shouted "DIE BASTARD" at a wounded friend of mine before kicking him to death. 10/10 Game of the year.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fallout-like from Russia.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's alright! + : gameplay like Fallout, unique universe, quests, enemies, trading cards - : confusing, some bugs 7/10 would planet again
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is complete crap I played 5 minutes of this ♥♥♥♥ game and it was awful. The controls are crap. The GUI is just clunky and no one should ever buy this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Look like rough prisoner type. Character's name is Boar. Speaks in fruity Englishman's voice. "Oh, what a beautiful planet." Immediately assaulted by local homosexual tribe. After kicking their feet once each, they're defeated. Picks up their knives and find Amamba awkwardly crawling towards you. Says he came on the same ship and for you to put him out of his misery as his legs are broken. Boar kicks him in the face shouting: "Die, scum!" Afterwards take on an entire village by yourself. Easy…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Racist, sexist anti-PC crap from a Putinite Z bot. It's painful because it's decent as a slavjank Fallout clone, but the egregious anti-PC contents make it unbearable. I just can't get through this. It doesn't help that the start of the game is quite slow, with the main character running errands in prison. The racism only gets worse. Doesn't seem like there is any option to play the role of someone who is not a bald military man, happily crushing a rebellion for the interplanetary Russian…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Surprisingly fun game but extremely buggy. When I accidentally tab out of the game it doesn't load back in correctly and i am stuck with a black screen and have to wait for my computer to realise that the game is broken. Even after saving and trying to propperly close the game it bugs out. As for the game itself: the story is nothing too special, though I like the idea of a prison planet with its own unique hierarchy. Some plans and goals are somewhat weird and uncomprehensible, there is a…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Planet Alcatraz, the game is like this: -It is full 3D, top-down isometric view with limited adjustable angle, can be fully rotated and zoomed. -character system is heavily borrowed from Fallout 2. -combat is squad based, real time with pause. -trying to attack anyone who is important to the main story, would result in instant gameover. -quick save, multiple saves, and autosaves available. -crude language, a lot of creative swear words usage. -no weigth limit for inventory, only item size and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played it to the end, the English translation was so dam funny. The story line was like a B movie sci-fi, the combat was awesome. The first starting mission when you crash land on the planet was the worst. Melee combat is important at the beginning, pick pocket is the best way to get early XP.... The ending game quest was so amazing... The graphics made me go blind, not as blind as drinking vodka. The game is worth it if you can get over its major flaws.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →That was.... just... terrible. I really wish I could get those 8 minutes of my life back, or at least actually spend them in the real Alcatraz. 0/10.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommended : Not because full bugged quests kill your progression This is probably one most interresting game but its severely bugged. Devs seem to know nothing about game & are unable to solve quest bugs : no support Without all that stupid bugs, games is awesome. But what is worth awesome game if it lead to get stuck in quests because nobody want to patch bugs ?

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What if Fallout was written by a Russian Propagandist? Dmitry Pushkov's cult classic slavjank RPG is a time capsule of sorts that can be considered an introduction to a controversial figure in European politics; as well as his total inability to write compelling stories. This is essentially a Neo-Soviet rewrite of "The Stainless Steel Rat" where the main character is an Imperial commando sent to Planet Alcatraz as a infiltrator in order to verify reports of an spaceport being built by the…
