Another night, another great movie. Tonight’s gem: the James Mangold version of 3:10 TO YUMA starring Christian Bale and Russell Crowe. My God, what an amazing, heartbreaking movie about honor and courage, with a perfect score. A masterpiece.

Watching 3:10 to Yuma again. First time since it came out when I was 17. I remember at 17 thinking it was really dark and morally complex. Great movie but to 34 year old me, it definitely feels like an episode of Bonanza. Great ending though.

You can take your pick from the James Mangold filmography. 3:10 to Yuma? YES. Ford v Ferrari? YES. Walk the Line? YES. Wait, he even did the Bob Dylan movie? My God. He's in the running for the dad movie championship. For me, though, it's Wrath of Khan.

Elmore Leonard, who wrote the short story 3:10 to Yuma was based on, later wrote the made for TV sequel to High Noon, called High Noon Part II: The Return of Will Kane. No one has made a movie critiquing High Noon Part II, as most everyone agrees that it is a perfect film.

When Bale's supposed to be the crazy guy, it's great (American Psycho, Vice, American Hustle). If he knows to play off someone else's batshit performance (Reign of Fire, 3:10 to Yuma, TDK), it's great. But he'll also give a batshit performance where none is required and ruin the movie.

Latinoamerica divides up the Americas by ethnicity. North America is USA and Canada, Jamaica, the Bahamas, Trinidad & Tobago, Miami (lol), Saint Lucia, Dominca, US Virgin Islands, and other Anglosphere Antilles. The rest is Latinoamerica, including Puerto Rico (US) and Brazil (Portuguese ancestry). Fun fact: there is a considerable portion of Latinoamerica that refuses to call people from the USA "Americans", and instead call them United Statians (Estado Unidenses) or North Americans…
