Xenus 2. White gold.

Caribbean islands; islands full of secrets, mystery and the spirit of romance. These islands are both beautiful and lethally dangerous. Centuries ago the waters of this region were teeming with pirates and adventurers... and frankly, not much has changed since then. From the Steam store page

60 of 82 · most liked firstIt is the sequel to Boiling Point: Road to Hell. That I can access in the year of our lord 2017. Without going on a life-long treasure hunt across the world. Or use black magic. Now I only need The Precursors to complete the holy trinity. Edit: Jokes aside I think White Gold takes the gameplay concepts of Boiling Point and improves on them. The perk system is a nice addition and gunplay seems better as well (I find myself not dropping dead so often unless I have to kill 20+ bandits in an open…

unlabelledView post →Searched for this game for over 10 years... finally I get to play it. White Gold was never released in Europe or anywhere else besided russia. Now it poped up on steam last year. I am so glad I found it :) I am a huge Fan of Boiling Point and this is even slightly better. Yes, years have past, but I think there is no such game like this. Very much different quests and it's still decent looking! But get the Fanpatches and fixes bevore playing! Check out the discussions forum.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →as someone who bought this from yuplay.ru way back in 2010 and had to ask my credit union to open an 24 hour window to russia, i can happily tell you this: saul myers doesn't exactly hit BOILING POINT and grit his teeth in a camera close up, but this is close enough.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Empty bottle recycling simulator 2017 Actually, it is an intriguing game. Just make sure you follow this advice to get the native speech and missing sound effects, plus the unofficial community patch; http://steamcommunity.com/app/546230/discussions/0/154642447927133202/ Only recommended if you have experience playing Russian made FPS games in the past and know what to expect. Wtih the above changes most speech will be in Russian, but all text should be in English.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Liked the story line, Disliked the gameplay, seemed confusing and characters had to much interaction to get to the point. Gun shot sounds rarely worked and point blank with starting revolver was no hit. 3-4 shots from 2-3m most away missed. scrolling through weapons was hit or miss. If the play was smoother and sounds worked, also no voices to characters at all, it would be a better game, though right now I would not recommend it.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a hidden gem. Seriously... feels like Far Cry, but has elements of RPG. Yes it's open world, you can talk to anybody, do anything, follow or don't follow the missions. But it's not like Just Cause where you can blow everything up. Driving is a little bit clunky, and the map... sigh... map is just a static graphic with no way to zoom in and out. The only map that is even remotely useful is the "minimap" which you can toggle between 2 functions. Also.... the voiced dialogs are all…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've put more hours into this than i care to admit and in a way i love its charm and creativity despite being a broken mess! it's like the EDF series it oozes charm and character. For the love of god patch it as hard as you can but just know not even that will save you. PUT BOILING POINT ON STEAM
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When I saw this was on Steam I was so happy because when I was a kid I used to spend hours on this game. Xenus 2 is easily one of my top 5 games and has a special place in my heart. You are Saul Meyers, a special agent sent to a troubled region in the Caribbean to investigate and find the source of some poisoned cocaine. The action takes place in a tropical archipelago, full of crystal-clear water, sandy beaches, jungle foliage and of course factions fighting against each other. It's up to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game could be great, but the number of bugs just ruin this game soo much. This is a poor mans far cry
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game FINALLY gave an answer to my years-long paranoia that someone had access to my account without my express permission (even though I have taken means of securing my account further a long while back). I have N E V E R played Xenus 2: White Gold. Yet the game tells me that someone did play it for SEVEN hours 5 years ago.,, What a trip

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Despite some bugs and rough edges, I had a tremendous time with this. I also loved its predecessor (Boiling Point - the road to hell). A word of warning. It's not for everyone. You have to be the sort of person who is happy to download and install patches and go into a few configuration files - rather than have everything 'spoon fed' to them by (e.g.) Steam. You also have to have a little patience (the first few hours are a little slow I'd say) and be able to see past (e.g.) the less than…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hot gopnik garbage. This is a buggy Lada-level budget Russian knockoff of Far Cry 3. Bugs, horrific localized English voice acting, control latency, no controller support... I have no idea where I got it, but per isthereanydeal, it was probably in a cheap bundle. I admire the try, but in the end,,, its the Russian dash cam video meets Far Cry 3. 2/10

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game sucks. Tries to be and RPG and FPS and fails at both. You are on this tiny island and fulfill quests and gain xp etc. Many quests are broken, i was supposed to find this guy at this place at night and he wasn't there, i left my car with this person that said theyd fix it and they never did. The worst part is when i get this oxygen tank that for some reason doesn't work when I dive. This means I have to upgrade my diving time required for this quest, yet the problem is since the game…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Insane Gopnik Far Cry clone. I love it a lot, but man is it unstable on Win10, even with an overkill computer running it. Loading screens hit wild times and you eventually figure that they're just hanging. Definitely can't be played out of the box. BUT, if you are looking for something to scratch that Far Cry itch while also making insane leaps in other developmental directions, check this one out. Or its sister games: Boiling Point (not on Steam as of Feb 2021) and Precursors (Far Cry in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Linux Review Runs perfectly under the latest version of Proton. Only small issue I encountered was running the game on the highest graphics preset; the grass density appears to cause major frame drops, which I also remember happening back when I last played on Windows. It's not such a big deal as the difference in graphical fidelity is not really noticeable. So, I decided to give White Gold another chance after completing Boiling Point: Road to Hell with the unofficial fan patch. It was…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the low budget sequel to Boiling Point Road To Hell, it's an extremely eastern european FPS in all the right ways lol.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yea...Dont play this. Controls suck and it runs like rubbish.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Better than all far cry's put together even if it requires some work to be playable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rare RPG/Action game as if stalker was made in far cry setting. Many fun quests, beautiful sunsets, seashores. A lot of weapons to customize. Alcohol and drugs, various addictions side effects, leveling, perks and outstanding atmoshphere..It's a pity that such games are no longer made.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not a good game but it is bad enough to be good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →THE BEST OPEN WORLD RPG THAT I HAVE EVER PLAYED
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For a sequel it feels like a downgrade from the original Boiling Point (aka Zenus). The map is static with no fog and can't be zoomed in your stuck with with your mini-map to get around the small islands and it no longer shows where your cars are. The skill system isn't bad but the original had the potential to carry much more weight. Even though you can still store stuff into vehicles it is less useful as you won't be keeping a single vehicle that can be used all over the map and changing…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game itself is nice, but is heavily bugged (no character voices at all, sounds not playing most of the time, saving crashes the game and savefiles are corrupted, so it's impossible to play).

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worked on Linux using Proton, First off i had Sound fx Issues, but only from players Guns, but all other sound fx, world, bad guys all had gun sound/Voices/etc?? Voice acting in the first cut scene was just bad, but it did make me laugh, World Graphics look Good, Human models/textures not so good, Game play was also not to great, something felt off with the Gun play and having no sound fx's did not help. If you think it's somewhat like Far Cry, Think again, Far Cry is still way way way better…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Factually better than rockstar games and i could write a book on it -You can have 100+ quests active at once without issue. In mafia1,mafia2, gta3, gta vice city, and gta san andreas you can not save while on an active quest. This game does not have that issue -Saves all your cars, cars dont despawn, your 100+ rifles are safe in the trunk -Bodies dont despawn ever, bodies can be pushed in water and float/drift around for months -Literally a 10x higher draw distance than any other open world…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a strange yet engaging gem of a game. It's like a really good bad movie. You know the kind that are over the top, weird and with cheezy production value but all comes together to create a unique and entertaining cult classic. Basic economy, weapon upgrading, questing and exploration give plenty to do. The game is janky and the story doesn't make that much sense with broken translations but it's all part of the charm. I got it for $8 on the lunar sale and worth that price for sure
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Atrocious - of a very poor quality; extremely bad or unpleasant. Don't even download it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →BEST FACTION BASED GAME EVER!!! with so many options to do things, my second play through felt like I was playing a whole new game and encountered a lot of things I missed my first play through. There are 8 Factions all together, only one of them not being joinable. Don't recommend joining the bandits on your first play through because they will really make citizens hate you unless you balance out the citizens quest with the bandits. :p The Faction quest and stories are great. I wouldn’t say…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Concept is decent - but UI is HORRIBLE. Nothing remotely resemblance of normal or typical controls for a game. For example, when speaking with someone, literally after EVERY sentence I had to hit "backspace" to go to the next sentence! That's just one tiny example. MANY other horrible UI.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just don't. I got a copy 10 years ago and it was unplayable. Now it's on Steam and as buggy as it was back then. Fixing it with unofficial patches cure this disappointing game partwise but by far not enough. Boiling Point Road to Hell was buggy, too but at least playable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are interested only in the game itself, I recommend scrolling down to the end of the review, because the main part mostly consists of my own thoughts on the whole Boiling Point (aka Xenus) series. Recently I was cleaning up the mess in the closet and while going through various old garbage I found the original CD for good old Boiling Point: Road To Hell (or Xenus: Boiling Point). And though I played this game years ago in my childhood, when I did not really "play through" games but just…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Xenus 2. White gold. is a sprawling and unapologetically rough open-world shooter that attempts to fuse first-person combat, role-playing progression, and sandbox exploration into a single, ambitious experience. Developed by Deep Shadows and published by GFI, the game places scale and player freedom above polish, offering a vast tropical setting where missions, factions, and systemic chaos intersect in ways that are often intriguing, occasionally frustrating, and sometimes unintentionally…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed my time with the game. It feels like Stalker set in the Just Cause or Far Cry 1 universe. The game can be a lot of fun. Unfortunately, the game can be unstable on Steam for some reason. There is a bit of troubleshooting to do before you can run the game, (via community patches and special settings). Despite these shortcomings, I think this is a great game.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Works fine on Steam Deck albeit with some tinkering with the controls, until you come to load up a save game at which point it just crashes. So basically unless you are going to play the whole game in one sitting don’t bother. No steam cloud either so my 3 hours deck progress lost forever. Also possibly the worst voice acting I’ve ever heard.

There is no English voice over except in cutscenes and the translation is full of typos and inconsistencies. That said, this is great fun and a very pretty looking game I think! I'm a sucker for nice water effects and swaying palm trees. This really reminds me of STALKER, a game that's designed around plonking you down into a world you need to discover rather than a theme park laid out for your convenience. I like Assassin's…
