positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Spellforce: Platinum Edition is absolutely a product of its time. It has not aged well at all, and unless you have some heavy rose tinted nostalgia goggles it really is not worth the effort. Poor voice acting, irritating troop AI, tedious resource gathering, super convoluted character progression with no way to respec, endless bugs and errors, and other such points just make this a chore to play, I completed the main campaign, got halfway through the Breath of Winter campaign and after just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I might like this game I'm not too sure though Let me play through it once more.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the greatest games of all time imo. I've spent countless hours playing ever since I was 10 years old, Would Highly recommend to people who love strategy fantasy RPGs.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's amazing, oldie but goody. VA Is dated and a bit...intresting at times but all in all its still a fantastic game. Same for graphics. You can solo the entire game if u feel like it, or build your city up and army and do it that way. Class customization is on point, lots of spells and weapons to choose from. You can 1v1 a skeleton horde one minute then building a ork city/army the next. It feels very much up to player on how to proceed with levels/quests. The add ons are fantastic to play…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →And just like that... 110 hours of pure Nostalgia. I do not know where that time disappeared but let me tell you.. Worth a single second. Spellforce... One of the few amazing titles back in the days. Played it day after day and remember it as it was yesterday. Going back to my childhood with this very first RTS that made me fall in love so deep and unexpectedly whenever I start my pc, sit down, run the game, I feel that young me again for every time I start over that feeling comes back with…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Intriguing Mix of RPG and RTS, But I No Longer Have Any Faith In It If you just want to play the base game, then go ahead and grab this game from sale. It's the expansion(s) where I stopped having fun. And based on gameplay descriptions of other SpellForce games in the series, I've lost faith in any of them. ➕ Gameplay Loop; It can be summed up like this: 1. Go to a new area. 2. Secure Monument. 3. (Optional) Scout the area. 4. Build a base and raise an army. 5. Wipe out every hostile…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it may not be the best in the ways of voice acting and graphics but in my opinion it is still the best out of all the spellforce games, i have played this during my childhood and now am still playing to this day. I really do enjoy this game, the only time there have been crashes is when screensaver gets activated other than that its barely buggy and never crashes, theres no problems in corruption or anything like that, that i have faced that is. but it is one for the ages that i can see myself…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Possibly my favourite game of all time. Been playing it for a good 20 years now and still come back to it from time to time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Spellforce: The game with the best loading screen i've ever seen. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3361579070 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3430041269 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3000054506
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Alpha and Omega of SpellForce. It was never the same after and never will be like this again. This is the true fusion of RPG and RTS. Nobody ever came as close as this to achieve that. There's nothing like it to compare. With all DLCs included, it has a huge amount of depth and playtime. It's sad that it's old, because due to dated graphics and early 2000's gameplay it'll not receive the attention it deserves. I can recommend this to any RPG fan who loves to have a choice between using…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →SpellForce: The Order of Dawn - an autistic amnesiac lady in skimpy outfits searching for the nicest stone in the land SpellForce: Breath of Winter - a man accidentally releases a war criminal from prison and goes on a journey to stop him, enduring identity theft in the process. SpellFroce: Shadow of the Phoenix - the two aforementioned team up to beat up the elderly
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played it when it came out. Loved it. A Warcraft-style game, with similar combat, etc. Nice story. Enjoyably wooden voice acting.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Old but gold. The mix of strategy and RPG still works surprisingly well, the world has a great atmosphere, and the music goes hard. The campaign is long enough to keep you occupied for hours, the story interesting, and the progression loop is addictive once it gets going. 5/5
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Proper Story and long campaigns . Some Bugs but very managable . Old game but still is worth playing .
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Arround 40 Hours for full 1st Campaign, i loved this game when i played it as teenage in 2005, i stil love it today in 2026. I wish games nowadays have the same Love as this old game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Legendary RTS. Difficult, rewarding and absolutely stunning. Sounds of birds chirping or builders working on another project while your base is beautifully lit by lamps during the night. Gatherers working on bushes of Lenya while your army is defending your base to the very last man. Graphics can get old but the soul will always be timeless. Hundreds of units including custom models for allies, ancient Houses with their own banners and whatnot. Tons of builds, strategies and companions to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game tried to combine RTS and RPG to create something innovative but ended up being a mediocre mix of the two genres. The game's setting and story are actually somewhat interesting. Some sidequests tell compelling stories, but most of them are just fetch quests. Most quests stretch through multiple maps, but usually, by the time the quest can be completed, its rewards are already outdated by the equipment found on maps. As an RTS, it provides very limited control to the player. Units…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love this game.....sooooo many beutiful childhood memories <3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →RTS with heavy RPG elements for your main hero. Some missions have base-building and some don't, a bit like the campaign missions in Heroes V. The base-building itself is reminiscent of Warcraft 2, except with more emphasis on resources - in that respect it's a bit more like Stronghold (and frankly not as good as the latter). Resources are infinite but respawn slowly. Building placement sucks. Their footprint is huge and hard to gage visually and placing a building doesn't automatically…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played this game three times already and it still entertains me, so I recommend it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First I had a nice nostalgia trip played the standard game the order of dawn as a kid a few times, so the first campaign was nice I had fun, only the slow walking got tedious sometimes. But at the second campaign (Aryn ?) the first problems started. You could sometimes just feel the balancing is off, and I got tired that your soldiers hit like they have pool noodles, while even the standard enemy hit like trucks vs your soldiers. The Aryn fight was not fun because your defender troops suddenly…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice game mixing RTS and RPG, but it shows its age (first release 2003, way before its release on Steam in 2009). Today, I would recommend it only to completionists and from nostalgia. Those people can overlook the annoying game controls (e.g. inventory, quest list, casting system). To everyone else – find yourself some newer offspring from this category or wait for a remaster.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →0 Do yourself a favor and and save time : Go to betas and choose the 1.54 version to see your health and manna bar Use F7 to quick save and F9 to quick load to acquire better loot from chests and bodies faster and without cheat engine MOST IMPORTANTLY use cheat engine to walk faster. Trust me you'll need it Other then that, great RPG/RTS hybrid game with great customization of abilities and a pretty good twist ending. Graphics makes you want to scoop out your eyes and the combat is so dated…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolute classic and unique RPG/RTS games from the glory days of PC gaming and PC RTS games. Highly recommend beyond just a nostalgia hit.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolute RTS/RPG gold, timeless.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →>npc joins my party >can't control npc like i can control my army >only had 25 men in my army bc i didn't anticipate a big fight yet (still developing my base) >told my army to stand still after fighting nearby goblins so i can loot a chest >sadly the npc doesn't obey like my army does and went to aggro an orc pack >one orc from the pack alerted his base >now im stuck with a million orcs and goblins running to my base with an underdeveloped army and no time to build it up :( >don't be me.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I completed the original campaign ages ago when I had a physical copy of it, and now I wanted to play it again and the expansions before playing SpellForce 2 and 3 that have been sitting in my library for awhile. My God, I do not know I managed to get through it the first time around... I remembered it being really long, and boy, that one memory was very accurate! Everything takes WAY too long, it's really tedious. I wish the game had stuck to the RPG aspect more, and less on the crappy RTS…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is playable, nothing more or less. It aged pretty badly. The whole game I was playing at 2x speed, as it is extremely slow and tedious at 1x speed. Balance is questionable, as when you are playing RTS maps, you are not playing against enemies, you are playing against a factory of enemies that can spawn endlessly and start spawning more and more over time. So, quite often, you have to cheese. Some maps are more or less balanced, while some specific maps are just imbalanced garbage…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beginning of the game is super slow and the learning curve is pretty high... but.... it gets pretty addicting if you like character class/stat building. Took me like 8 hours to really get into it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →hehehehehehe... I once bought a physical copy of this game and recently noticed that there was a steam code on the box XD I used the code and got the game added to my steam account... and this is why steam rocks... oh, yeah... this was suppose to be a game review :D it's oldschool but still pretty fun... it's worth picking up now and then (do I check the "received product for free box or not??? I mean, I bought the physical copy... sooooo...)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →such a great game and many memory when young on sick days
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is still one of my favourite games of all time. Better than Spellforce 2 and 3. Perfect mix of RTF and RPG. I suspect I'll be replaying the game every few years for the rest of my life.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is great, strategic mix of RPG and RTS with no seams between the two. Great story, average voice acting, dense world filled with lore... Some of the bugs in this game felt like awakening dread Cthulhu. Ancient monsters from deep within the code, long aslumber, rising up to be a nuisance. Also some of the times you will have to wait while your characters march across half the level are tedious. Other than that, lot of fun to be had, do recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →one of my all time favorite Games. brings a lot of childhood memories back and its a good fusion of rpg and strategie
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is...some value for this game, if you have the pacience. I have completed about 65% of the campaign and it has been a slog. I do not know if I want to finish it. -it's 90% RTS and 10% RPG, where you build a base and manage resources. Standard stuff, but the enemies do not follow rules. They have fixed spawn points and create units one every X minutes that attack you, CONSTANTLY. -everything moves so slow, I recommend installing a mod that speeds up gameplay -the quest designs are clunky…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really great game! 5/5
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →still worth playing today few RPG's like it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →200 hours, that is how long it took me to play through base game and 2 DLCs. Was it worth it? Yes. Graphicly it is pretty in that classic fantasy RPG kind of way. You can change from top down view to 3rd person anytime and look at the models a bit closer and play as your avatar. It is not very useful, but I still like that they put it here. Game plays like cross between classic RPG and RTS. The idea is to find monuments with your avatar, build, spawn an army a fight everything on the map and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →SpellForce: Platinum Edition is hands down one of the most unique and rewarding experiences you can have on PC, seamlessly blending the depth of an RPG with the large-scale strategy of an RTS in a way that still feels fresh years later. The Platinum Edition includes the original game and both expansions, giving you a massive world to explore, countless quests to tackle, and armies to command as you shape your hero’s story. The freedom to build up a character with RPG progression while…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game so much, it is one of my favorite RTS games. Two of the missions were clearly not tested thoroughly enough though and you will need to use cheats or some very, very creative thinking to get through those missions because they are almost impossible otherwise.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mechanically, Spellforce 1 is a masterpiece of a game with a perfect blend of RTS and RPG and the best bang for your buck you will ever get in the genre. Three euros (the price it very often goes on sale for) get you 100+ hours of content, 6 factions and 3 full campaigns. But by god, if you want to play it you NEED to use the Time Control Keys mod which allows you to make the game move 2x, 3x and even 5x times faster whenever you want it to. To be able to utilize it, you need to be on the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great RPG/RTS Mix. Fun story, fun gameplay
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game ♥♥♥♥♥. I reccommend it. It invented RPG and RTS integration. If you like RTS and you like old Dungeons and Dragons character systems you will LOVE this game. It's crazy that Warcraft 3 got big and this game didn't.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finished The order of dawn campaign. I won't say that I had an amazing experience playing it because I had to restart the whole game once because of some game breaking, unfixable bug. Anyway I replayed the entire thing once again and gave double the amount of hours which it would have taken. Then I started playing Breath of Winter and after spending hours and hours on this campaign, God faycking Borodnir died before he could even open the gates and now I'm stuck with an unfixable bug. Sorry I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is extremely jank, but it is grand old fun and the best installment in the series. Pick it up on a sale and go for a spin.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent game, genre defining, ahead of its time, with excellent mods bringing it up to 2020s standard
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I mean its alright i guess
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Heavy nostalgia on this one, but still among my favorites games of all times. No other games managed this perfect blend, where there's both a very good RPG with a very good RTS. Story is good, and I like how it explains why the world is like this (Islands and portals), where the worst has already happened but people live on anyway. Soundtrack is beautiful and really helps immersion. Scenery is good, but I am not as moved by it other players who enjoy third person view over top down. Honestly,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →15 years after first release still a good game, and much bang for the buck. Though graphics quality is a bit out of date, but never gets disturbing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the most fun RTS's i played when i was younger. The Spellforce series was such an underrated game series that really was ahead of its time, having a perfect blend of an RPG game and an RTS game that i've genuinely never seen attempted since. this game would do soo well in today's market. the gameplay, characters, world building. such an absolute hidden gem. Especially the OG Spellforce: Order of Dawn. out of all spellforce games, THAT is the one i always go back to every few year to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They don't make 'em like this anymore... A unique blend of RPG and RTS from the 2000s, when companies competed by creativity rather than by shareholder value. For todays dopamine over-saturated brains it may take some patience to get into the game's pace, but once you do it's a wonderful journey with such a classic sound design. There is nothing else out there like Spellforce 1.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →command and conqour with orks and elves. whats not to like
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best game in the world history. Spellforce 3? NAH. Just do more stuff to spellforce 1 and fix spellforce 2 to work better on new PC's devs. And modders too! 1. Change game version to "publictest". 2. If you do not like voice acting: change language to german then in pak10 change subbtittles to what you want. 3. Try mod SpellForce - Rebalance and Reforged (I use only reforged it is realy fun) 4. If you want to see far away you can chec tutorials on internet to increase it more than the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An hour and a half for the tutorial and by the second hour I'm already running around like a chicken with it's head cut off, I get the appeal for this game back when you received a physical manual along with the game, now? Not so much.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Runs mostly fine, about what you would expect from such an old game. The shadow of the phoenix campaign still has a few annoying bugs tough regarding loot for quests.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great game (I'm 100% biased), although it has a bit of a rough English VA on the second and third expansions.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Look, the game was amazing up untill a few hours in when it simply started stuttering and never stopped. I tried all the advice, looked for help in various different places it simply broke during one mission and kept breaking in all subsequent ones, it beggins by working normally and then the stuttering suddenly starts again, making the experience miserable, its not hardware, its not the configs, maybe a windows thing? IDK, nobody seems to have this problem in the same way i'm having it so it…
