Access to device IDs and activity on all devices linked to the same wifi as the device running the game??? The EULA is disgusting, and by itself disqualifies the morality of getting this game in ways that don't force you to sign; if you catch my drift. If they get rid of the literal spyware (Because, seriously, you're already getting my money with sales. Why the **** would I let you profit off of me indefinitely by…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Am stopping playing all 2K games as now 2K games install spyware to collect deep personal user info, device info, IP address, GPS location, internet activity-browser history etc for its use/sale to third parties and potentially pass on to US/UK/EU government. F Off 2K..
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good game! My thumbs down is because of this new EULA where I obligated to share my data with the company. I don't want to share my data with any company at all. They are too greedy. Back in the day, the software was mine not some kind of subscription that they can terminate my access whenever they want.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →JOHN XCOM’S LEGENDARY GUIDE LISTEN UP, MAGGOTS! John XCOM here. You want 4 soldiers, Legendary difficulty, zero deaths, before July? Here’s what the game won’t tell you: Legendary will humble you! 70% is basically a coin toss. XCOM maths. One misclick = funeral. Congratulations, Commander. You WILL leave people behind. It's called tactical retirement. AP Ammo > Bluescreen. Don't ask questions. Just accept it. You are NOT special. That soldier you spent 20 minutes customising? first to be…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →XCOM: Enemy Unknown can absolutely screw you with RNG—missing a 90% shot, getting crit, having a soldier panic, etc. But most of the time, the mission structure itself gives you room to make decisions around that RNG. You advance carefully, establish positions, activate OW, deal with enemy's that come, then continue. There's a deliberate rhythm to it. XCOM 2 changes that rhythm pretty dramatically. The concealment system is cool in theory, because it gives you this fantasy of setting up the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You cannot play this game without giving away your data to 2K. It is Mandatory. Everything collects my data nowadays. Even my videogames, which are supposed to be an escape from the troubles of real life. No place is sacred. I will not be purchasing any future 2K games until this predatory policy ends.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →98% chance to land a shot. *Misses* Get's one shotted by Aliens. This game makes me want to watch Hentai.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →2k TOS for each passing day have become more and more outrageous. XCOM have been fun but i will never ever buy any game from 2k or installing game from 2k again for that matter
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the game that I judge all other turn based tactical games against.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gets old incredibly fast when "humanities best" misses most of their shots especially at the 90% chance. But hey, at least the ai can land all their shots with mostly critical damage.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okay let me be totally upfront. I bought this game when it came out, played it once, and didn't really like it. Then, years later, I was really wanting a Star Wars game to play, looked at the amount of Star Wars mods that were on the workshop for X-COM 2 and downloaded a collection (not sure whos as it was a while back, but was one set in the original Star Wars era) played it and fell in love with the game. Now to be clear the game is amazing even without mods, but with the fact you can…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was my first game in the genre of "send small squads of your OCs to die in horrific circumstances" and and as a certified OC torturer, I'm quite satisfied. I would recommend playing the game once without War of the Chosen enabled, then doing a playthrough with it. The base game is good on its own, but WotC overhauls enough systems that you'll appreciate it more if you play without it first. Do note that most mods are designed to work with either the base game or WotC, not both -- keep an…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Commander, the aliens continue to make progress on the avatar project. If we're going to slow them down, we'll need to move fast.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ah, so this is what everybody's been trying to copy for 10 years. Apparently War of the Chosen is the full game, base game is the same campaign with less content. Plays great on Steam Deck.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →in another effort to review every video game that has helped distract me from the crushing weight of my own mortality and the unavoidable horrors of the human condition: i'd give this game an 8.4/10 with the footnote: legendary ironman run got softlocked bc a ufo attacked me and i only had like 5 dudes alive. potentially could be in the top 10 games i've ever played, but instead my life sucks
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This entire game is just artificial difficulty. It's a strategy game that's very heavily reliant on RNG, making strategy basically null. This is especially true in the early game where chances to hit are insanely low. Because of this It doesn't feel fun or satisfying when you actually complete a mission successfully, it just feels like you got lucky. It's just an endless series of saving/loading and trial and error. I see a lot people responding to comments and defending it claiming that it's…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game I spent most time playing and still the best in its genre, it is the benchmark that is yet to be beaten. Virtually unlimited replayability with the great mods that have been made, such as long war 2 etc. Everybody who likes strategy games should play this. 10/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game especially if you hate yourself. Nothing like a 99% chance to hit and missing to just make you want to bash your head against a wall.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like TBT games but just do not have the patience for all the random bullsh*t in this game. Rather than rewarding you for proper placement and execution, the game would rather cheat and kill all your soldiers in one go. Tried to give this a fair shot but not for me. Too many timers, glitches, and infuriating moments.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a really bad game. I love Xcom: Enemy Unknown. And when I tried to play this one I will instantly rage quite because of the scatter move. I cannot believe how bad it is. The moment you see an alien, those bastards instantly get a free turn from nowhere and sprint straight into cover. What on earth were the developers thinking? It’s supposed to be my turn, yet the enemies suddenly start running around like it’s theirs. Every single time it happens, I feel like throwing my PC out the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is awesome and the DLCs are great additoins. However, what truly elevates it is the LWOTC mod.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love turn based combat games, but unfortunately this is just too infuriating for me. I'm not mad because it's challenging, but it is difficult in a seemingly unfair/infuriating way
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is still the best of it's kind. I think I still have some kind of PTSD from this game, you get attached to these stupid soldiers then watching them get mutoided to death is so painful. I think actually the most underrated feature of this game is the Bar/Memorial. I don't know who came up with that but they are a genius. I loved leaving heartfelt messages to my best soldiers who died. But also, if a soldier panicked and did something stupid, I really enjoyed insulting their memory with…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →just a really really awful game, and surprisingly so. there's no strategy involved since the floors, walls and covers (even the full block ones) can be shot through by all the enemies. sitting on the roof of a building in cover behind a radio mast, and then getting oneshot from 50m away diagonally through all the floors, through the cover is certainly something. what this all boils down to is just the enemy having cover and you being basically on an open field no matter the level…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you love yelling at your monitor as your dudes misses a direct shot then this is the game for you. tbh it's a really good game with punishing difficulty if you mess up (you can save scum)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This might be my favorite game of all time. The base game play is solid and the natural story telling moments that arise with unique soldiers and perma-death suck you in, but the sheer volume of amazing Mods, in particular the long war of the chosen, make this game so re-playable that it ends up being my most played game every year or two because I go back with more mods and start a new campaign. Just an excellent all around game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved "UFO: Enemy Unknown" when I was but a young teen playing it on a then top-of-the-line 486 PC with VGA graphics and a SoundBlaster card. The decades rolled on and aside from the disappointment of seeing the other 'X Com' shooting game (my own reaction to it would rival Spoony's); having received the first XCOM reboot in its glory was like a gift from the gods. Then to receive another gift in this sequel and its expansions and mods and community and all that, as well as to see they…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best games ever made. Absolutely worth your time and money. After giving vanilla a shot, download LWOTC for a real treat. This mod is huge, adding complexity, variability, and difficulty to an excellent platform. I'll be playing this for years to come.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i have tried many times to like this game as i played the older ones on hard and enjoyed it. But this style of rushing you all the time is not fun but just simply fustrating. no time to just enjoy the game. i have a life i use games to unwine not causing me to have a heart attack. remember before fan boys say anything i did like and played the other games on hard and it was fun. what a reversal of this franchise. even with mods it still does not make the game fun and on easy. The first game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of the best turn-based strategy games I have ever played. It is also one of the hardest. The theme is very interesting. Earth has already lost the war. Aliens rule the world, and you lead a small resistance from a hidden base. The difficulty is no joke. Every move counts. You will miss shots you thought were guaranteed hits. Your best soldiers can die forever because of one bad decision. Mission timers force you to take risks. The Avatar Project is always moving forward. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The aliens invaded. XCOM, humanity's champions, were defeated. 20 years have passed and an ostensibly benevolent dictatorial regime led by the aliens rules what's left of the planet. The resistance has largely been quelled, but from the shadows a few remnants of old XCOM still lurk. As the aliens prepare to complete their grandest project, with potentially catastrophic results for humanity, XCOM finds the opportunity to resurrect the resistance and strike back. This is XCOM 2, sequel to XCOM:…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →XCOM 2 is a pretty great turn-based strategy game about killing aliens. You command a platoon of customizable soldiers that begin as rookies and over time become seasoned veterans with skills dictated by your decisions in skill trees. There is a fair variety of alien villains that you will encounter in map missions to keep you on your toes. The game features certain hardcore gameplay elements such as soldiers permanently dying if they are not recovered/are abandoned during missions and an…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great sequel and overall the best "modern" turn based game, even after 10 years. The sequel bait ending though is awful.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don’t know how to feel about this game. I really enjoyed my time with the first one, but this sequel feels more frustrating than fun. It often feels like the game doesn’t respect my time. Maybe part of it is a skill issue, but even acknowledging that, I just can’t see myself recommending this to anyone except the most die-hard strategy fans. Any mistake is swiftly and brutally punished. Even when you don’t make a mistake, RNG can still humble you. You can spend hours building up a single…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best games ever. Certainly best in the genre. Brutal tactics but rewarding if succeed. It creates situation of suspense better than any movies. And you care much more for your heroes too 10/10. Where is terror from the deep tho, its been 10 years !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really love the blend of strategy and tactics combined with a resistance war like feel. I knew I wanted this game from the moment I laid eyes on it. 10/10 would recommend in 2025.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best games I have ever played. Bought it on sale for seven euros after seeing it in a video. Consumed my life for a week straight. I don't even like strategy games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is extremely challenging. I still can't play at the higher difficulties. Some will be put off by the level of concentration it demands, but i think it will mostly go appreciated. I certainly do, and I hope you will as well. That being said, the game isn't perfect. There are times you may find the game to be more stupid than challenging, by either the way the enemy behaves or by how a mission works, in which case you will find yourself using exploits to complete certain tasks (like…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The base game is already an incredible turn based strategy game. Every mission feels meaningful because every decision matters. Positioning, ability usage, resource management, and even a single missed 95% shot can completely change the outcome. (Yes, it will miss. It always misses.) What really makes it special is how attached you become to your squad. They're not just units on a battlefield. They're your sniper who's survived since the first month, your Ranger who somehow keeps carrying…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Every shot you take is a coinflip, probability is a lie. You will miss a point blank 99% shot, but the yolo 15% shot you take will hit and kill. Still not too sure if XCom was recruiting Storm Troopers or not. The aliens are also complete jerks. Sectopods are an actual crime on humanity itself, I hope to god you got bluescreen rounds by the time this game throws multiple at you at a time. Sometimes aliens will appear out of nowhere and screw your player phase…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, if you remember, even 99% is only a 50% chance to hit... I love the game, Love the style, and Love the Mods. I just HATE all the missing when ya have great chances to hit.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A legendary 10-year masterclass in tactical stress, "95% hit chances," and pure heartbreak. It’s 2026, and XCOM 2 is officially ten years old, yet it remains the gold standard against which every other turn-based tactics game is measured. Firaxis took the "underdog" fantasy and dialed it to eleven, turning you from a global superpower into a ragtag resistance movement operating out of a stolen alien ship. The gameplay is a perfect, agonizing loop of high-stakes decision-making. Every time you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →From earning my achievement for finishing the tutorial in 2017 to finally completing XCOM 2 in 2026, it has been quite a journey. While I enjoyed the first game much more, there’s no doubt about how solid the XCOM 2 experience is. It’s one of those games that eventually goes on deep sale and, while it may be sitting in many people’s backlogs, it’s absolutely worth diving into. With only 30% of players completing the final mission, there are still many who have yet to experience everything…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is easily in my top 2 favourite games of all time. I bought a PC just so I could mod this game. Now even playing just the base game i have had so many memorable moments, so many characters who miss a 98% shot just to get domed and we lose but then the next mission someone worse hits a 2% shot and it is the most satisfying things on this planet. But then once you have finished a vanilla campaign, you can then move on to the real fun the mods. I have over 1000 mods and the game takes forever…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →1st. Love the turn based gameplay and systems of this game. 2nd. Love the characters and ability to modify and select your squads makeup. Honestly Love almost everything about this game!! 3rd. ABSOLUTELY HATE the damage system. I could be standing two squares away with multiple squad mates from a target and miss everything; and dependent of the target have everyone dead the next alien turn. That is not fun to me. Playing hours to "lvl up" a character just to loose because 4 of my 5…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best small unit tactics game I've played. War of the Chosen makes it even better, as do various mods. If you see this in the bargain bin, you should try it out.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was a great game. Recently I tried to play this again after several years. The legally binding agreement, I don't recall last time I played, caused me to pause. Unless I misread the agreement, it sated 2K has the right to access personal information on my computer just for using a product I paid for nearly a decade ago. Such as but not limited to any bank accounts, my home address, and any purchases I have made that may or may not involve video games. Oh, by the way, the agreement clearly…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Genuinely cannot recommend the game. The overwatch/reveal/concealment system is so inconsistent that it drives me nuts, as is the constant hurry in every single missions (all missions are on timer). Autosave is also one of the worst - whenever you load a game it overwrites your last autosave. This is incredibly frustrating. Yes, it's a good tactical game in itself, but it's not _fun_ to play. That's my biggest issue with it. First XCOM is worlds ahead of this game. I actually enjoyed and played…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A game for strategic masochists. Okay, you might miss 99% shot (and the enemy will kill a couple of your soldiers because of it). That's normal, X-com meme. But when you play Ironman, you overcome it, and the game freezes. And you only have one save. You load it, and it freezes again. That's it. The end. Start the campaign over. The game is 10 years old. It still has these bugs. Great. I'm furious. I'm angry. Dislike.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →10 years later and this game is still one of the best turn based games of all time. The gameplay is fun and doesn't feel outdated.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great strategic thinking with thrilling chance. Scratches the same itch as Fire Emblem games for me.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very fun . had a amazing time just dont get attached to your characters
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Playing this for the first time in 2025. I gave XCom 2 a thumbs up as the developers did an excellent technical job with their creation. The game looks great, sounds great, and plays great but the problem I have with the game is the same issue I have with most of these turn-based combat grid systems. Once I select my characters and builds, I find myself going into every mission with the same tactics. In other words, just going through the motions which becomes very tedious after awhile. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very engaging and fun, no other game has the same feel in terms of franchise, design and mechanics An Absolutely goated game Thank you Xcom for getting me through depression
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best version of XCOM ever! If you like turn based RPG strategy games, you'll like this game. Easily modable with some rudimentary programming skills and also plenty of user mods available for download. The "action cam" is one of the best parts of the game, which occurs during combat and focuses in on attacks and movements. Enjoy!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a classic. Isometric tactical discrete missions coupled with overarching general strategy. Great dialogue and acting. Very replayable. Just a joy to play once you get immersed. Loved it so much I played it twice which I only ever do with games I think are excellent as I have sht to do.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I found our next stream game. #xcom2
unlabelledView post →Best. Game. Ever. Well the first part was better but still, they don't make them like this anymore...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Despite being 10 years old, this game still delivers great turn-based strategy gameplay. It’s impressive that the fanbase and modders continue to keep the series alive. Huge W to the community.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know why I did'nt play this earlier, but oh my god. I've owned XCOM 2 for about 4 years now and finally decided to give it a shot and I have'nt been this hopelessly addicited to a game since BG3 1.0 launched. If you like turn based and/or strategy games, this game is right up your alley. You have to make the best out of bad situations, but if you manage to set yourself up properly, it feels soooo rewarding.
