60 of 171 · most liked firstTonight's movie is 1988's "Working Girl" which earned Melanie Griffith a Best Actress nod & Sigourney Weaver & Joan Cusack Best Supporting Actresses recognition. Carly Simon did win for Best Song: "Let The River Run"! Persistence DOES pay off at the end of this movie & real life. Have a good night!

unlabelledView post →@drskorzy.bsky.social and I watched 9 to 5 last night, I'd never seen it (I'm a Steel Magnolias fan tho) and wow that movie took a turn I did NOT expect, I thought it was gonna be basically Working Girl. An absolute romp! IDK what we'll watch tonight to honor Tim Curry. What about you?

unlabelledView post →Watched Working Girl with the teen last night. While it was an imperfect choice of a film for the night, I'd not seen it in decades, and is a good film... but I'd forgotten that it's about an attempt to expand Trask Industries. Now I'm wondering exactly where in X-Men cinematic history it falls.

unlabelledView post →Both characters in this scene from 1988’s “Working Girl” are supposed to be 30 I don’t know if they read as older because I was so young when I first saw the movie, or if there’s something about the aesthetic of the era?
unlabelledView post →#NowWatching GORILLAS IN THE MIST (1988). Director: Michael Apted. Sigourney Weaver, Bryan Brown. Weaver earned Best Actress Oscar nom as gorilla researcher Dian Fossey in same year was nominated in Supporting for WORKING GIRL. Became 1st double nominee in history to lose both! Rewatch. #filmsky 📽
unlabelledView post →Being a Working Girl is not all the movie cracked it up to be. Harrison Ford never packs my lunch.
unlabelledView post →It was my wife’s turn to pick the movie tonight and she chose Working Girl, which she’d only seen on TNT and it turned out had a few more “KIDS CLOSE YOUR EYES FOR THIS PART” parts than we’d thought, lol. Immediately followed with the Bob’s Burgers episode “Work Hard Or Die Trying, Girl.”

unlabelledView post →Are you thinking of fictional representations or real people? There are a lot of both — “9 to 5” (Dolly movie and story that inspired it), Roseanne, Erin Brockovich, “Working Girl”, etc. There was a switch in the 21st century from this type of storytelling though. “Hunger Games” the big exception…
unlabelledView post →I'm watching Working Girl for the first time. All I know about it is that Gene Belvher says it's the sassy sister film to Die Hard. And that they got the main character's hair spot on in that same Bob's Burgers episode.

But Friday After Next was on too so
unlabelledView post →There's a Bob's Burgers episode that confidently declares that Die Hard is both a musical and, notably, the sassy sister film to Working Girl, and that is a far more compelling argument to have.
