I once found a first edition copy of Ron Kovic’s memoir, which the film is based on, in a library’s used book give away section. Read it cover to cover; even better than the film.

After he lost the Best Actor Award for "Born on the Fourth of July" (1989) he pretty much said, Fuck This, I'm going to make Mission Impossible films forever! #TCMParty #RainMan

In fact, he asked me to do a kaiju movie after we did "Lupin". I don't remember why I turned him down, but I regret it now. Alex is great.

I still haven't seen the last Mission: Impossible movie because I got so tired of them. The Top Gun sequel was surprisingly great considering how much I hated the first one though.
unlabelledView post →Born On The Fourth Of July (1989) is maybe the more well known July 4 movie. I haven't seen it yet. It sounds to me like another example of an "anti war" movie that focuses on how bad war makes US marines feel while largely ignoring the lasting impact on the Vietnamese people. Maybe I'm wrong.

A fantastic Vietnam War movie, that does not spend much time in combat, just the propaganda, and aftermath. #FilmSky #MovieSky

The purchased ones were from "Little Monsters," "A Midnight Clear" (underrated Keith Gordon film from 1992) and "Vacancy." Shoulda got "Swing Kids."
