As much as I love Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, I cant recommend it to anyone, not even on sale, if you are playing PC. The game runs back, constant stutters and frame drops, and that is with performance mods and all graphics turned to zero. If you can get it on sale on console, go for it but for PC I would unfortunately pass, even two years after its release.

Someone got me thinking of Wo Long again, which, imo, was just an okay game. But gosh the character models were so pretty. I still love my character Jaité in the game. Idk if I'll pick it up again (was considering for the dlc) but I sort of want to try and draw my oc again anyway

There's both an inherent limitation yet simultaneously an advantage to a binary "yes/no" recommendation system over a score system. On one hand, it can feel somewhat unfair to not recommend something that's still kind of good, on the other hand, it's more informative for the sake of aiding the decision making of others. Wo Long is likely to be the best game that I would still give a "not recommended" rating to. Not to serve as active discouragement, just not to overpromise for it. First off,…

Should not be deck verified. Kills battery in an hour and isn't even fully stable at 30 fps. Insane this game got the green check when so many others don't. Probably not a bad game, but criminally false to act like this game should be verified. Also parrying is extremely unsatisfying and feels WAY less consistent than any souls game I've played Edit: why does this games review percent blatantly not line up when I check the actual review numbers? Says like 70% approval but steam says there's…

KOEI TECMO's idea of fun that has never changed since Nioh 1: *The boss should spam it's attacks, deal fast and insane damage, does AOE as almost as big as the map itself, instantly dodge the player's attack out of nowhere *The same 3 maps must be used over and over again with pointless purposes of missions *30 FPS cutscenes *Useless NPC summons *Battle Flag exploration system being tied to your power level should be considered a crime

To be clear before I start - I hated Nioh 1 + 2. As someone who likes to focus on a core set of mechanics and get them down, Nioh to me felt like an unfocused mess and had far too many mechanics on mechanics and systems in systems, if there ever was a game in this genre/sub-genre that doesn't respect your time it's those ones. Wo Long is a much more focused and stripped back experience, the loot spam is still there and some egregious enemy reuse sure, but it's more forgivable in light of…

I was originally going to give this game a negative review, and before you come for my neck, let me explain why I ended up switching to a positive one. First of all, and this is a warning to anyone thinking about buying the game: the optimization and performance are absolutely atrocious. I spent more time trying to make the game look and run properly than I did on some of the bosses. No joke. That alone was almost enough for me to leave a negative review. My other major complaint is the…

Rating: 5/10 (8/10 in my heart) This is probably one of my favorite action games. I love the Xuanhuan plot line alongside the romance of the three kingdoms. I love the art direction and the design of the divine beasts. I love the combat a lot. The music is great and the clothing/armors looks fantastic. But I cannot recommend this game to anyone. There are glaring issues with the game I'd like to go over which would be a deal breaker to most gamers out there; and asking people to look past it…

WO LONG: FALLEN DYNASTY — DEFLECT SIMULATOR FOR CASUAL FRAUDS Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is another action RPG that people massively overrate because it is difficult enough to make average players feel accomplished. The entire combat system leans so heavily on deflecting that half the game feels like waiting for an enemy to flash red so you can press one button and pretend you just performed advanced martial arts. Maybe I am just too skilled to appreciate the challenge. Actually, that is…

This game does not work with controllers apparently. I tried it with and without Steam Input and the menu is bugged out like crazy. Every time I try to select up or down it does it and then goes right back to where it was. I tried a couple different things and just couldn't get it to work with a controller. So it's a hard pass from me.

Great value on sale, especially given how much hate this game gets. Combat is slick and aggressive, and the deflect system complements it, getting even better in boss fights. 16 melee weapon types, each with its own moveset and skills, and free respecs make experimenting with them easy. Don't skip the tutorials. Like in Nioh, missing them means missing mechanics (ki pulses vs. deflects) that change how the game actually plays. Skip that and you're missing the point of the system. Co-op is…

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Complete Edition is at its best when combat becomes a conversation between aggression and restraint. Deflection is the mechanic everyone notices first, but Spirit is what really holds the system together. Attacks, Martial Arts, and Wizardry can keep pressure going, but spending too aggressively leaves you vulnerable to stagger. Push an enemy far enough in the opposite direction and Spirit Disruption opens them to a devastating Fatal Strike. That makes every exchange a…

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is one of those titles that probably won't change anyone's life, but it will drag you into its world if you're foolish enough to let yourself get captured, like yours truly. Developed by Team Ninja, the same team behind Nioh, Ninja Gaiden, and Dead or Alive, Wo Long is a game that's entirely similar to Nioh in every way, sometimes feeling like a well-crafted mod for it. If you don't know Nioh, well, it's a sort of alternative souls-like that starts from FromSoftware's…

The Bag of Paprika Chips Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is not a bad game. It's best described as a Romance of the Three Kingdoms based loot-focussed Souls-lite spectacle fighter, but unfortunately its not really doing anything meaningful with those descriptors. You get a ton of loot drops, but dealing with those is a chore. Not only due to the sheer amount, but also because of a startling lack of variety in drops. There's many different weapons as shown on the wiki (more with the dlcs), but you'll…

Probably one of my favorite Team Ninja games, which says a lot. There are some performance issues and I'd say the content variety is probably like a 6/10, but the actual gameplay is 9/10 for me, especially during bosses. It's like Sekiro but with less rhythm focus and more DPS and aggression allowed. Also Wolong 2 just got announced, so probably get it on sale or just wait for Wolong 2. Overall: 7/10, but based off preferences and patience regarding performance issues, could go down to 5/10 or…

combat deserves every bit of praise it gets. the deflect system is incredibly fluid, hitting this sweet spot somewhere between sekiro's parries and nioh's flexibility. when you're locked into a 1v1 with a boss, reading their attacks and landing perfect dodges and counters, it's some of the best action combat i've played. but for some reason the game is convinced you don't want that experience. companions are shoved into every mission and the game ties gear and loyalty rewards to dragging them…

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is not a bad game. The combat is fast and fun, the RPG systems are decent, and there is enough build variety to experiment with different playstyles. When everything works properly, the fighting mechanics are easily the best part of the game. The biggest problem has always been performance. Low-FPS cutscenes, frequent frame drops, and general instability hurt the experience, and even in 2026 the game still does not feel properly polished. The story also became pretty…

Game gets really repeatitive after 5 hours. Copy paste maps (main battlegrounds / sub battlegrounds). There's endless useless loot which fills up inventory and finding good gear from inventory is frustrating. Some of the bosses are good, but many of them are just annoying because of the fighting arena size. 2/5 would not buy again.

Since the sequel's been announced, I grabbed Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and played through it to more or less complete my trip through the modern Team Ninja character action RPG lineup. It's quite good! In a lot of ways, Wo Long feels like Team Ninja taking a Nioh script and doing a find/replace on the character names and plot McGuffin. This game is a bit like a cross between Sekiro and Diablo. It has Sekiro's deflect mechanic (with some modifications), and Diablo's loot grind. Overall, combat can be satisfying, but the game is also pretty easy. Performance on my system was stable at 60FPS with maxed graphical settings. Overall, however, I cannot recommend the game. Cautiously recommending this game...beware that it is 90% combat based. Why is that bad? If you're expecting the rich world building or exploration of Sekiro or souls-like games, you WILL NOT find it here. Each area is effectively a closed in level where you have to raise banners to raise your power in that level before starting all over on the next. It's a blast, so much fun. Like pretty much everything Team Ninja does, the combat is the highlight of the thing. It's addictive. As somebody with god knows how many hours across all three Nioh games (it's a lot), I think it's important to say that this is not Nioh. Yeah, it's got a lot of mechanical similarities for sure, but it doesn't feel like Nioh to play. It's fun at first but I didn't realize how repetitive it would get. I honestly can't recommend this. And something with the combat just feels odd. It's cool and flashy, but floaty. And I know this is gonna sound like coping but the parry timing feels off. There's one too many "I swear i timed that right" moments that I think it's not just me.
