60 of 138 · most liked firstafter playing 15 hours in the demo of both playing and tweaking settings, i can say the game is good, but optimisation is ridiculous for triple a standards. the game has extremely high cpu/vram usage that results in low 20-30 fps. why should anyone have to spend hours figuring out the 'right' settings due to poor optimisation before enjoying the game. unfortunately without playable fps a game isnt a game so have to give a bad review until they optimise the game. so far from reviews/community…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →25 hours on the demo I played the demo quite a bit, and i tried some things during the wait for the main game. I now have a few hours past that content, so i can comment and give my recommend. This is not a souls game Easy mistake to make. It has paced combat and resource management with periodic check points. Nioh 3 is based on loot progression not character stats. It has character stats and scaling, but they mostly determine what equipment you can use and NG(new game) power.…

I really didn't know what to expect but I'm really happy I decided to buy this game. Definitely one of the best games I've ever played. They really put some effort in making this story, the surroundings, the character designs and even the outfits to get a real traditional Japanese feeling. The missions, the exploring and the collecting of every item available is so much fun...and it's really nice to see…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just wrapped up the main story, so I'm going to go ahead and give my review while I'm still irritated. I think this game is markedly worse than Nioh 2 in basically every way, but the one that affected me most personally wasn't any of the usual complaints about the open world, poor enemy variety in most of the game, inconsistent difficulty where fights are either trivial or a huge pain with nothing in between...my big complaint is that the visual clarity, already poor in previous titles, is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I AM HAVING A LOT OF FUN, BUT: The game runs like crap. The visuals are dated, and IT'S FINE, but then it should run great on modern hardware. My game is SLOWING DOWN in the final area of the first chapter, not framerate drop, the game is LITERALLY RUNNING IN SLOW-MO because my CPU can't keep up. I have a 5800x3d, this should NOT be a thing. And they dare charge 80€ for this? Nioh 3, as of it's release, is a GREAT GAME but it is also a TERRIBLE PRODUCT. EDIT: I'm done with the second…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have close to 300 hours in Nioh 1, and nearly 1000 in N2 across PS4 and PC. It felt like with Wo Long, Wild Hearts, and Rise of the Ronin that a new team of devs was getting its footing by working on some mechanics while not muddying up the core IP. I didn't really enjoy any of those games, so I was hopeful when I saw the first trailers that we were getting more Nioh and Things Were Back To Normal. I have to say now unfortunately after finishing the base game and all achievements that this…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I could say that I prefer the level design, story, and general vibes of Nioh 2 more but...man I don't even think that matters at this point. Every time I play a new Nioh game its like coming home again, or putting on the most form fitting glove of your life, or eating your favorite food from your childhood that mom used to make. Its one of the best combat systems ever put to a video game and Team Ninja knows it. The thrill of the fight is like crack, and I can never have enough. I love this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Why is there still a VRAM leak 3 months after launch? What are the devs even doing? I literally had a 3080 Ti burn up on me playing this game on launch so I waited a while before coming back to see if they'd yknow, actually fix it. But nope, as you play the VRAM usage steadily climbs even on low settings. Lovely.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to like this game so bad. I love Nioh 2. It's one of the best games of its style; for the gameplay it offers it's a nearly-perfect game that's absolutely top in class. It's extremely well-balanced, the difficulty curve is tight and everything feels good in it. The perfect melding of a character action-style feel with a souls-like pace, basically, into its own unique thing that's wonderful. To anyone reading this review, you owe it to yourself to go play Nioh 2. It's fantastic. This…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I personally think many aspects are Nioh 3 are straight downgrades to Nioh 2 which sits as one of my favorite games of all time. The open world works worse than the more linear level design of 2, a large part of the content ends up being recycled from the earlier games, Ninja style is fun occasionally but is little more than a simplified moveset for players who find the Samurai style too hard, the weapon's available are vastly inferior to the offering in the 2 and many open world activities are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was my favorite State of Play in a long time. Not every game appeals to me, but it had more than a few really fun surprise announcements. Final Fantasy Tactics, Marvel Fighting Game, Nioh 3, a new game from Suda51 and a sequel to Bloodstained? Well done PlayStation!

But it still runs like crap!! I tried ultra first. Most areas were okay. But, during combat and whenever new things appear on-screen, the game lags and chokes badly. Also---this game pegs my CPU for some reason. I checked to make sure it is running through my GPU, and it is. For some odd reason, no matter what you do---fake…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well... It seems like a good game, from what I've been able to play, but oh boy - people weren't joking about the performance issues. AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 64GB DDR5 And yet this game locks up or stutters more than anything else I've come across. I'd just avoid, sadly. Waste of money on my part, and certainly won't be trusting Team Ninja for a good while again.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I haven't even made to the end, but between this & the demo? I have close to 20 hrs across the board. I see myself easily putting in 100+ hrs in this world. This game is a collective of Team Ninja's best work on display. This is their Elden Ring.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A new one from me. I reviewed Nioh 3 at Kotaku. It's a good game but talking about it is tricky. This review has some of my highest praise ever (these are the best feeling action games ever) and some of my harshest disapproval as well.. kotaku.com/nioh-3-the-k...

Spent almost 17 hours peaking through every corner of the demo and - while I'm only a few hours into the 'main game' (just hit the 2nd map) - it delivers really well - and keeps getting stronger. It's the same experience in the demo but larger, better, scarier, and weirder in ONLY the way that Nioh could do it. Its the Nioh 3 I was expecting and I'm quite excited to ruin the next 200+ hours of my life min maxxing the hell…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You know when you're playing a game and nothing about it is really bad but nothing about it is very good or engaging either? That's Nioh 3 for me. The videogame equivalent of waiting for the bus. That sounds harsh, but every time I end a session of Nioh 3 I just think to myself "well that sure was another session of Nioh 3 that was very much like all the last ones". I think one of the things that kills it for me is the complete lack of anything surprising or interesting ever happening. It's a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nioh 3 being €80 for the base game or €120 for the special edition is really pricing it out of what I'm comfortable paying for a game, I think I'll be waiting a little on it.
unlabelledView post →So i got cranking away at the demo, and i'm a veteran from Nioh 2. Nioh 3 is a great addition to the series. Combat is just as fluid, great implementation of the new dual class system, open world feels very nice so far. My one singular weird bit i am having with the game. When the game is in focus, it runs like im choking my GPU with my bare hands. The moment i move my cursor over to my second monitor and click once, suddenly it runs buttery smooth and no issues. I get some pretty bad fps drops…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love this series in general however this was the first one I have purchased on PC. I cannot recommend this game in this state. I am one of the multiple users experiencing egregious amounts of vram leak no matter what setting/resolution combination. At 1080p with DLSS on or off, the vram leak would become unplayable in ~2hours. At 1440p however, the vram leak would crash my card/system at 1 hour mark. I have heard the console versions have fairly stable performance for PS5 and xbox series x.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’ve never played Nioh or any other soulslike before, so I went in as a complete newbie: died a lot, got frustrated with some bosses… and even so, the game managed to hook me (update: i got all achievements, good game) I’ll start with the part everyone already knows since the demo: performance. I played on an i5-13400 + RTX 4060 Ti, High settings, 1440p, with DLSS between 50% and 55% (preset K), which actually looks pretty decent visually The problem is that the game pushes both CPU and GPU…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Perhaps one of the worst optimized games I've ever had the displeasure of playing. Team Ninja's previous port of Rise of the Ronin also sucked hot dog water off the scummy floor. Great game but I simply cant abide the state they've left it in. I waited several months for performance fixes and there's been NOTHING. Just a condescending "guide to optimization" telling me to clear my cache, and its totally not their fault. Pretty sick of their whole attitude. Its a shame really because again,…

unlabelledView post →As is the trend with games being more expensive, the quality has gone down. I don't understand why were not getting higher quality products if we have to pay more. Just save yourself the money and play nioh 2 until this goes on sale or gets mega patched. There's just weird decisions, performance issues, and minor annoyances all happening at once that are making me not want to play this. And I love the first two a great deal. Ill definitely buy it in the future, I just dont think its current…

This is the series at its most confident, most polished, and most exhilarating. The combat is simply flawless. Building on everything that worked before, Nioh 3 introduces the brilliant duality of Samurai and Ninja styles, letting you switch between traditional…

Nioh 3, Menace, Romeo Is A Dead Man, Crisol, Mewgenics, High On Life 2, Reanimal, Styx 3, The Killing Stone, Paranormasight 2, Star Trek Voyager, Love Eternal, Horsey Game, Ys 10, Demon Tides, Towerborne and Resident Evil 9. And so many other wild indies

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you’re a big fan of Nioh 1 & 2 — which I am — this feels like an adult amusement park. The jump from Nioh 1 to Nioh 2 was already insane in terms of mechanics, Soul Cores, and more. But the leap from Nioh 2 to Nioh 3 completely outdoes the studio’s creativity once again. An open-world Nioh game was something I could only dream of. There are plenty of new enemies, a lot of freedom in how, when, and where you progress, and some of the new systems are genuinely extremely cool. I’m fully…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When the game shows you an option each time you boot up the game, asking you to turn down the graphical settings because the current selection will negatively affect performance despite the game having PS4 era visuals and you having a good PC, you know the optimization is dog**** and the dev has zero intention to improve that and just shifts the responsibility to you instead. Judging by the colossal disappointment that is DLC 1, the chance of this game ever reaching (let alone surpassing) the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Performance is disgraceful, and I say this as an rtx 5090 owner. Seriously, games like RE4 remake run in 4k DLAA with alls settings and ray tracing maxed out at nearly twice the best framerate I can get here, with much smoother frametimes and far less stutter. This game doesn't have real time RT, and whilst visually quite good in some areas, also has some visuals that could have been pulled right out of an early ps4 game. Game is so full of performance bugs that I would say that at this stage,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tutorial was nice, good gameplay. Just over the 2 hour mark the game becomes unplayable. Lags like hell. Edit: I wouldn't call my PC a Potato. It is still decently specced and lets be honest, a game the size of NIOH 3 and its graphics should run fine on even weaker setups. My pc runs Ghost of Tsushima without a single hickup and elden ring too and others.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okay firing up the Nioh 3 demo to make a character and like...apparently you're just textually trans if you play as a woman in this game? Like you're meant to be Tokugawa Ieyasu's grandson and the game starts you as that before you turn to a mirror and be like HRT time bby

My top 3 (new) highlights are Star Wars Fate of the Old Republic, Control Resonant and Gangs of Dragon. Nioh 3 and Lords of the Fallen 2 are both looking great too! I love games so much!
unlabelledView post →Maybe I'm just getting old but this game felt soulless. Nioh 2 is my favorite souls like by far and I, like many others, was beyond excited to get the game nearly shadow dropped this year. At least until I played it. It doesn't have the magic touch that keeps me wanting to progress through missions and get stronger. There's a chance I just need to give it some time but I cannot justify giving this one any more of my scarce time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Optimization is terrible. The game chunks hard in open world areas even on standard quality. I noticed it during the demo too but I coped and thought it would be fix in the full release. Hopefully it gets patched in the future.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You can quickly tell that the game is fun just by playing the demo, so I’ll go over some settings to make the experience more comfortable. (Performing just-evades in ninja style can feel really satisfying at times.) I’m using a laptop with 6GB of VRAM(RTX3060laptop) and a WQHD display, and with the following settings I’m able to achieve a stable frame rate of 50–60 FPS. I think the game is well optimized, so I hope this can be helpful for low spec PC. Upscaling: FSR 65% After uninstalling…

unlabelledView post →Nioh 3 is currently unplayable I spent 8+ hours playing the demo and had a fantastic experience. Unfortunately, the full release suffers from severe performance issues. I am running a Ryzen 7 7800X3D paired with an RTX 3070. While my GPU is due for an upgrade, Nioh 3 is pushing my CPU to a constant 99% usage, causing extreme stuttering and inconsistent performance. This is the first game I have played where the CPU bottleneck is so severe that GPU capability becomes almost irrelevant. This…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nioh 3 was a game that I came in with tempered expectations, I didn't enjoy Wo Long in the slightest and Ronin, whilst a fun time was a fairly simplistic and basic game with its own issues. Seeing Nioh 3 take elements from both (deflection, the open world, etc) and the addition of a new class locking system made me hesitant, the initial Alpha in 2025 shortly after its reveal didn't blow me away like Nioh 1 or 2 did either and sadly even with those lowered expectations I walked away from Nioh 3…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Everything with this game screams yes BESIDES the performance. I cannot enjoyably play this game in its current state. I only could have wished they took the time to troubleshoot some of the known errors in the game. The only thing holding me back from not refunding right away is my past experience with the Nioh series. I am ready to spend well over 200+ hours just like I did with the past games, however the game does not seem ready to play. Bittersweet feeling for sure.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game seems good from what I played. But the awfull performance, especially for the pretty bad graphics ruin the experience. Even worse if the framerate drops the games speed turn to slowmotion, making it impossible to play good.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Review after 60 hours and all achievements TL;DR play Nioh 2 instead, it is the definitive Nioh game, and action combat game. I can't believe I am writing a negative review for a Nioh game, I never thought this day would come but here we are. No, this isn't a review saying "performance is awful please fix and don't buy until it is." While it does have horrible performance on a 9800X3D and a 5090, this isn't that kind of review. But this is the poor performance warning out of the way. If…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Alright, let's get this done... Nioh 2 is one of my favorite games of all time, but I tried to enter the newest game in the series with an open mind. Games age, mechanics can be improved, that kind of thing, so why not see what changes they can make for the better, you know? The problem isn't that Nioh 3 is terrible; it runs fine and looks great. The issue with this game is that it doesn't feel like a Nioh game. The elements are there, but by changing it to open world, the game feels more like…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nioh 3 is a game I like but struggle to love. Where Nioh 2 was one of those perfect sequels that does everything right and perfectly expands on everything you loved before, Nioh 3 goes in bold new directions that don't always hit the mark. I think this is a good and fun game, but it's a step back overall from what came before in many ways. Firstly, the gameplay. It's Nioh, so you know it's the cream of the crop when it comes to action combat in a soulslike. In terms of new additions, your…

The best thing I can say about it is that, it lets you go anywhere you want without holding your hand... But so has most every other souls like that has come out recently. The minimap they give you is worthless and is just a black orb that shows items you can pick up, why not just have it be like an actual minimap? The one positive I can say…
