negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Windforge is a pretty interesting game in 2D exploration/building genre, which could be great if it didn’t suffer from bugs, certain annoying mechanics, and general feeling of unfinishingness. The main unique feature of Windforge is that you travel around the world in entirely customizable airship. Everything you add to your airship in Windforge affects its performance: propellers determine its speed, balloons help the airship stay afloat and rise, turrets are used in combat, engines are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game. I enjoyed terraria and several other similiar games. Unfortunately this ran terrible for me. It started ok, but by the time I was done with my first town the game was unbearably laggy and restarted 4 times. I only payed a buck or so for it, so I guess I'm not too upset, but I could never recommend it in this state. Pretty bummed!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Windforge is a game that is simultaneously the best and worst kind of game I've played. ok, let me elaborate. It's an amazing concept: this gaseous world where you build your own steamships and go across it and hunt (or save) sky whales and other cool stuff, and don't even get me started on the gas layer! the execution is, lacking, to say the least. The game seems to crash more and more the more I play it, not to mention the complete lack of proper aerodynamic physics (shape of your airship…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game got a bum rap when it first came out. There were bugs, and game review sites were not kind. But the devs kept at it, and did a good amount of patching in the months following the game's release. By the time I got it, everything seemed to be in order and I had a blast with it. The guts of the game are that you're an airship captain trying to figure out why the sky whales (yes!) are disappearing. It falls solidly into the Terraria 2D crafting genre, but rather than building a base,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are games with mixed reviews that are meh, or bland, or generally bad. Windforge is not one of those. You will either hate it because you don't connect with it, or you'll love it and wish there were more of it. This is one of my favorite games of all time. I picked it up in a bundle and didn't look at it twice for months, but when I finally did play it I got sucked in for a week and a half. It ate my entire holiday break in winter of 2014. Why am I only reviewing it now? I noticed…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: + Extremely vertical and varried world. If you fall, you could end up falling for miles + Decent exploration. You never know what you will run into. + Airship battles + Abandoning your airship to sabotage another from the inside. + Fire system. It can spread, and take out your entire ship if you're not careful. + Sky whales. Enough said? + The most terrifying underworld I've ever seen. Honestly, I don't think I can ever go down there. + Grapple hooks. Better swinging mechanics than most…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know what happened with this game - back in the day it used to work. Was wonky, but worked Today and a few weeks ago I was trying with a new character, and I couldn't even finish the tutorial - at it's end (?) my ship blows up and flies away from the screen - in my previous save I arrived at the crash site without my ship (including the tutorial-NPC on it), in my latest save I can't even leave the screen/location (but my ship apparently did) because I get an error message about failed…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was a lot of fun while it lasted, and has a feature that as far as I am aware is 100% unique. You can build your own ship however you want, outfit it however you want and fly it around an entire planet. That alone is worth the buy if you're after that. The reason I don't recommend it though is that it was completely dropped by it's developers while it was still in early development and as such was a huge disappointment. It's unpolished and pretty broken in places. If you get it,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great concept, just buggy & unfinished. Amazing concept, wish devs had been able to complete their work.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It started as a game with very high hopes, an extremely unique engine, and of course, none of what most people hoped it would become ever materialized. Call it the fault of the early days of early access, I've got all these games in my library, I'll keep buying them regardless, but Windforge just sort of... Came and went. Content would have been great, but the pseudo-random nature of the game is not only unintuitive but tiresome. Nothing really feels complete or fleshed out. Just like…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game could have been so good if they just finished it and added more content
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best Terraria-like games out there although still very different. Most people seem to hate the inventory system. It is true that it has it's flaws but I want to compare all aspects of this game. Here is a quick pro/con list: Pro: + Small tutorial, helps you to getting started. + Nice little story, that gives this kind of game a new look. + Lovely visuals. + ♥♥♥♥ load of items + great music and soundeffects + Airfights are great + Looting is always rewarding + Grapplinghook…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fairly good game, if only it hadn't been abandoned by it's developer ...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This could have been a really great game, but the interface is highly unintuitive, the crafting menu is very tedious to work with and it takes insane amounts of materials to get things done. I had high hopes, but they couldn't be upheld. Not even remotely.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →left dead in the mud in dev hell. would not recommend. 0/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game's good for what it is, although it's unfinished and missing polish. I'd best compare Windforge to Terraria, but with a world set entirely in the sky. The map's a large grid, with the higher levels being the easier ones and where you start. Cells contain, for the most part, randomly generated flying islands with resources and enemies to be plundered, but some set cells contain towns or story-centric locations. As per the whole flying islands thing, you're going to need an airship. You…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is pretty good on its own way and its unique (ship and fliying whale concept) but while playing there are some irritating problems about games physiques engines and its poor character desings (1 hair shape for each gender /or bald) grappling hook may lag and catapult u away from your ship and probebly to a void which u will fall and die soo save your game each 10 minutes or so .whales are cute as long as u dont hurt em. anyways temples : place where u get soo angry at the random monster or…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this for free ages ago, and it's basically been collecting dust in my Steam collection. A few days ago, I rectified this, and was not disappointed. One of my main highlights went something like this: - Explore the upper third of the map - Get blown to bits by a meteor storm - Somehow survive the onslaught - A sky whale rams what's left of the ship - Fall through the ship to my doom - Continue falling, somehow hitting nothing on the way down - End up suffocating to death in the lower…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game had a lot of potential but it just falls flat. The story is aweful [and ends extremely ubruptly], the map is both large enough to be annoying to get around and small enough to not provide a lot to see, the skill system is pretty heavily unbalanced. I will give it to the game that it's main focus, the ship building, is solid, and killing that killing a space kraken, hollowing it out, and building a ship in it, is very satisfying. Good core concept, bad general execution.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The main aspect for me was that I didn't really get to enjoy sailing the skies in my airships because something was trying to kill me every 2 seconds. plus the controls were rather difficult to work with. Good game on paper and with a little work on it I feel it really has the potential to be something great. But for now I can't really recomend it as it is
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great idea at it's core but poor execution
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game had such great potential it pains me to give it a no ... I couldn't remember what I was up to the last time I played it, so I fired her up and loaded the savegame "Meatboy". I was in the process of building an airship out of Kraken Shells, meat and blubber. Basically, two Firestone engines surrounded by blocks made of meat would power the ship akin to a heart, with strands of meat background blocks randomly reaching out towards the outer shell like arteries. They were surrounded by…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yes, yes, look at my playtime. Barely got anything down but please just hear me out and take my words for what they are ok? I am one of those people that can share their opinion about a game even after only having played it for mere minutes, after I got what I needd for my decision in the first place. So what can I say about this game? Is it a good game? Eeeeeh its a solid 50/50. Its good and its bad. Its ok to put it into a better light. Because the thing is, the game does show a whole lot of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wasnt very fun, crashing constantly within the two hours of playtime... every few minutes it was just crash after crash.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is somewhat fun with mechanics like grapple hooks and the exploration but has many problems and bugs that will likely never be fixed damn shame
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very disappointing. Could have been great, but sometimes it feels like the devs just gave up.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is great but developer studio got closed so it is not developed. For 5$ its a good fun. Would not pay more
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fully destructible levels. Just like in Terraria, gather resources to build stuff. Upgrade you flying ship and explore another floating island. Game is ok. You have to save game manually from time to time or loose progress in case of permadeath. Grapple hook your way up to victory! Exploration and plenty of mission errands to do. Might change review in the near future, still checking this one out...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It has a lot of issues, the main tutorial doesn't fully explain all the mechanics, like how crafting recipes can change the gun depending on materials you use. But i adore this game, after the tutorial it lets you roam free to do whatever you want. Learning and manipulating the mechanics is where this game really comes through. Skirmishes are fun but there isn't the largest enemy ship variety. The building is optional, you can get through the entire game with the same ship, only needing to add…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Update it and then it will get a better review this game had so much potental to be an awesome title..... Be careful giving this game a negative review cause I currently being harrassed by a random stranger simply cause I don't like the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved this game when it was in development. Such a big potential. But then the new versions and patches took longer... first messages with "sorry for delay" appears until the moment, when the developer abandoned the game without any more information. Last "patch" opend the game for deep modding. This was the last "goodbye, do your own thing" they released. Big potential, great start, o.k. development, really bad "finish". Don't waste your money on this unfinished game. It's dead, Jim.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfinished and half baked.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not often I can use the phrase "hilariously bad" without bordering on hyperbole; but today is one of those days! It's almost awe-inspiring how many terrible design decisions were made that just make you laugh instead of angering you. This game so desperately wants to be Steampunk Terraria and it fails in such spectacular fashion I can't help but smile a little.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really think this is an awesome game, I dont even know why I did not recommend it back when I played it for several days, but sadly the studio could not keep up to the expectations of many people and they dont have enough money at the moment to continue the developement, however I discovered the game after it has been released and trying it out without high expectations I had a rush playing it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Windforge is a Block Building RPG set in a Steampunk universe that offers the ability to create and pilot airships. It also includes a story and RPG elements. Gameplay: Gameplay is where this game shines offering tons of crafting and other ways to satisfy multiple types of gamers. Airships can be built from scratch or you can modify your starter ship. There are weapons armor and loads of other objects and building components to craft with an ingredient based crafting system. Gameplay is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Seems abandoned
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game could have been great, standing besides the giants like Minecraft and Terraria, but sadly it hasn't received the love its concept deserved. The game is filled with both horrible mistakes and genius ideas. The weird 2.5D perspective and messy artstyle are probably the most common reason why most folks never give it a try. To be honest, visual clarity suffers a lot because of it and it's just not pleasant to look at in the slightest. The balancing is a joke, You can die in half a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Devs have moved on to greener pastures. All that remains is a very rough experience where deaths are common, quicksaves almost mandatory and everything advanced is hidden away in player made guides. Loads of typoes, ItemNamesLikeThis, peculiar mechanics and a very slippery player character make this a very unpolished experience on the surface. Some of the information is also withheld to such an extent that a guide is heartily recommended. There are good parts to it, but even those are mostly…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game, but basically abandoned
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Despite the not-quite-finished state, some crash-to-desktop bugs, and super thin story - I like this game. I like the aesthetic, the grappling, the game world, the airship building, the ability to grind down entire sky islands on the top of your mining airship, ride a sky whale into your enemies and - when it perishes from smashing into the ground - the ability to build an airship from its corpse. Just know what you're getting, know that it's not going to get any more support, and enjoy the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nope. I received this game as a gift from a friend, and even though I didn't spend money on it, I couldn't enjoy it. The graphics look super low quality when playing, not like the video on the store page. The controls were super clunky, made it not fun to play. And I thought the art style was going to be interesting, but something about it made it feel inconsistent. It unfortunate because reading about it, and the videos made it seem like a game I would have enjoyed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good concept, poor implementation. The controls are horrible!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is full of bugs, the blocks are too small, and the controls can be a bit clunky. And yet despite this, windforge is one of the best games I have ever played.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ship building and the game itself are super fun - i really wish this game got expanded on further, or a sequel was made. :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Price point: $9.99 I have over 150 hours in. Considering that is more than 10x the cost of the game, it easily checks out in price many times over. And I did get plenty of fun out of it. [Price- 10/10] Age group Hard to say. I can’t recall anything prohibitive. Violence, no gore, nudity or vulgarity that I can recall. Probably safe for most ages, though certain systems might make it difficult for younger players. [Ages: May be difficult for young.] Difficulty It is what you make it.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game a couple years ago but was unable to play due to driver issues. Finally got a new computer and was so excited to try it out. The steampunk genre is so fun in games and movies. The ability to design your own ship and the technologies to do it with are amazing. Stealing other ships either for parts or to add to your available choices is cool. The storyline, that I am mostly ignoring for random exploration, seems ok so far. The game freezes... often - I have to kill the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What can i say... Thought will be fun to come to this game... Turned on, decided to start new savegame instead of continuing wherever i was before and here story starts: Attempt#1: game started, nothing around, char in god mode, free flight, inv maxed out, stats maxed out. After a while managed to land on ground (took good 10 minutes of flying around ground), messed a bit around, enjoyed double jump mechanics... Got tired and decided to try again, maybe game didn't load properly. Attempt#2:…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent game. devs left it to rot but still decent game dont care for the story much but weapons and ship building are a plus because dead whale ship whynot lol

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would recomend it to others because its so fun trying to build a battle ship thats very moblie and just trying to balance assault, defence and mobility. The only downside is that its not multiplayer or if it does its not very clear to me.This is a good game and its got a copious amount of fun challanges.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →how does this have mixed revies all i need to say is once i jumped off my ship to land on a flying wolf with a knife then i landed after i slayed the flying wolf in midair
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →playing this with the idea of setting out onto your own quest makes it a lot more of an enjoyable experience. flying in the skies, zipping around objects with the grappling hook, shooting sky whales and engaging in sky battles makes this an overall very fun time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →one of the most amazing concept for a game just a bit old and low resolution
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hey there, so this game was released like.. 6 years ago or so... The issues are . . . sadly plentiful. But lets start with positives! :D #1 Ideas galore! I mean seriously! The idea of being able to swing from area to area with your grappling hook, awesome! #2 creating your own airship to fly amongst flying islands. Fuuun! That's really it though. Flying your ship is rough at best Combat is dull Exploration is lack luster in terms of finding anything worth while. Living on the back of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an interesting game and can be pretty fun but I cannot recommend it because of all the problems it has. A lot of the systems don't work well and I wouldn't recommend that anyone buy it at this point. It has really cool systems and those could be really fun but they aren't executed well. It hasn't been updated in almost five years and it doesn't seem like it will at this point.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got the game on sale Looks like Devs are gone and game feels like a ..... B.E.T.A. ..... game Still so many glitches.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would recommend this game to anyone who has even a passing interest in airahips and skywhales, however do not purchase this if you are expecting a complete game they dropped development in 2015 after adding a data extractor. Despite its abandonment it is still a fun game overall but just know that you will not recieve any form of customer support if you consider trying.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very confusing with poor controls. Story seemed like it could be interesting, but bad gameplay and lack of direction ruined the game early on for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow, this game has a great storyline, pretty great pixel graphics, good for gamers that are willing to try for something, and spend some time on it :D.
