To make things worse this version isn't stable and crashes quite frequently. If you liked Warlords Battlecry III you should buy the version available on GoG. That version does work and is the game as it was.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game with large old school fanbase BUT..... The steam version is a modded version and NOT the official version. I would not recommend it until they change it to a working OFFICIAL 1.03 version not the unofficial 1.03.24 version which changes a lot of the core rules of the original game. Also BEWARE this game is OLD and the graphics may have problems with newer machines (such as) resolutions not working properly or just outright crashing.

I still love it, but it doesn't hold a candle to 2, and even the first instalment was better. The patch that added spellcasting cooldown and timed life to summoned units was possibly one of the worst things I've ever seen, would recommend getting WB2 on GoG instead of buying this

I spent days planning invasions, forming alliances and carefully deciding which territories to defend or liberate. If one of my regions was invaded, I would drop everything to reclaim it. If an ally was struggling, I would march across the map to support them. I can recall such a time when summoning units wasn't limited by a timer and before anyone here mentions such things as a 20 daemon army, remember that I play offline. But this Steam version does not appear to run at all (on current PC, and most people will have upgraded - it MIGHT run on my ancient laptop, but that will die eventually), even with the fixes advised on the internet. I cannot recommend buying this game on this platform - it's a waste of money for a game you can't even play. I hope this issue gets resolved, but I find it unlikely.

The story and lore is deep and the unit’s dialogue is funny at times. For those who would like a warcraft experience and are unable too, this offers a similar approach but w some new mechanics that makes it its own thing. Now I still play "The protectors", which is built on the same code, released by the original developers for free (Thanks !!!). "The protectors" fixed all the problems, and also improved the gameplay.
