But yesterday I visited Mike Morhaime's new company, Dreamhaven, and played their first game Sunderfolk, which sure has that old Blizzard charm. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8u-2...

And the price SEEMS high (but you only have to buy one copy and have friends). And people hate the phone interface. These people aren't boardgamers. This is a digital boardgame with flawlessly implemented tech. The app is a dream, allowing you to handle controls as well as have your own screen to deal with stuff. It will reconnect quickly and cleanly if something goes…

unlabelledView post →Sunderfolk is *the* modern couch co-op game. It is lovingly crafted, well-balanced, and so much fun with friends. Easy 10/10. The most comparable game to Sunderfolk is, to my mind, Gloomhaven's digital version -- which is also a great game that I adore! But I can't always play it with friends who are more casual gamers, for a couple reasons: -Gloomhaven has a moderate to steep mechanical learning curve. -Gloomhaven requires everyone to own their own PC, largely invalidating in-person play.…

unlabelledView post →I understood when I bought Sunderfolk it was supposed to be played with friends like you would a board game. The trouble is I'm a middle aged anti-social guy with no friends and the games has a very limited scope. You CAN play it solo and have some fun with it (there is a LOT of quality here) but you WILL be missing out. I'm going to recommend it but only with friends. I'm still glad I could support the developer though!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a beautiful TTRPG with an outstanding gimmick, the fact that you only need one copy of the game and can stream the game through discord and use your phone to control your character makes it extremely accesible even to non-gamers, that's how this game brought me closer to my friends as we enjoyed the campaign. I can't recommend this game enough, worth every penny.

unlabelledView post →This game started off great, but the difficulty spikes at boss fights were always weird and unexpected. Playing through on challenging with 2 other players, we often felt like the fights were more of a puzzle with a single solution than an actual strategy game. Most of the game is great, but not a single boss fight was fun and the ending was incredibly anticlimactic. We felt like we may have just chose the incorrect characters to be successful in boss fights, and that meant the balance was…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game to play with friends. But the bugs make have me not recommending. Tool tip says 'immovable object' but then we charge into and it moves. Certain immovable objects have white life bars (which makes sense, and distinguishes them) but then their mechanics change and suddenly they have purple bars like the enemies which made us question whether we could use pull on them. You can't. Charge mechanics don't prioritize getting moved backward to one of the three hexs--which would make more…

unlabelledView post →Has the same problems Gloomhaven has. Limited rounds only makes sense if I can plan our strategy. RNG objectives, unclear victory conditions, random enemies, and more all ensure that you will suddenly discover that you cannot possibly win after having revealed some new piece of information. It's bad design, it's not difficulty.

My inquiry was addressed directly by their Chief Legal Officer, Rod Rigole. I now understand that a limited amount of data transfer is necessary for the game to function, particularly when playing through platforms like Steam, and I appreciate that my concerns were taken seriously.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game! My only complaint is that it's too short; you're just getting to the good equipment when you're a battle or two away from the finale. Love that all your friends can join without having to buy the game themselves. That's classy! We all had a blast playing Sunderfolk!

unlabelledView post →Super charming boardgame in a box. Played through a campaign with 3 friends over discord streaming over the course of around 30 hours and many weeks. The tactical gameplay is pretty fun, the phone controller gimmick is clever and fun. Best gameplay feature is the ability to rename certain characters and items, which is funny literally every time because we're all 12. The game isn't perfect, but it takes some big swings and hits most of them and I'm fond of anything that's different these days.

Simply amazing experience which makes the whole game much more comfortable and relaxing. Please double down on this, i want to see more games and developers invest in this. unlabelledView post →The campaign is quite the decent length, and the fact that only one person has to own it for multiple people to play is quite nice as well. The game play is really fun, and seems like a good starter game for anyone interested in getting into these types of games. Been having a lot of fun lately running this with some friends
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sunderfolk is such a fun little game, I wish more people got a chance to play it or knew about it. Wonderful couch co op game

unlabelledView post →Sunderfolk is a special game. The short version of this review is: - It is kind of a board game like Gloomhaven, but you can play it with each player using their phone to control it. - It is a ton of fun to progress through it. My wife and I kept looking forward to getting back to Sunderfolk. - If you remove the couch-coop mode, it isn't exceptional in many ways. The story is average, the gameplay is fun, but not ground-breaking. - Sunderfolk is a game that is far greater than the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a cute enough game, it's just about as deep as a rain puddle. There's not a ton of long-term strategy, game interactions feel inconsistent, and sometimes stuff just happens for no reason. It's fun to waste time with friends on at the easy difficulties, but don't expect a satisfying challenge
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Our TTRPG group decided to give this a shot, and we love it! It's a nice break from having to plan for game, DMing, etc. We like the campaign, and enjoy the town sections of the game. One of the best and silliest features is that you can name things in the game. We abuse this with hilarious results. Works well with the Steam Deck hooked up to a TV. I do wish they had gotten just one more voice actor. Don't get me wrong, I love her work, but a full cast would have been even better.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh my gosh! There's romance in this game 😂 I'm in! Game: Sunderfolk Platform: PC+Phone App
unlabelledView post →Also today: Sunderfolk - a co-op tactics game which players control through a mobile app.
unlabelledView post →While I hate to be part of the statistic of people who tried the demo, and liked the demo, but won't buy the game (at least not any time soon), I'll still leave a positive review. The reason I won't buy the game is that it's unnecessarily (during online coop on PC) confusing as to whom "grabbed initiative", who has already moved. It would also have been desirable that everyone got to see which card the current player is considering - current design feel like it was for a "sometimes adversarial"…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The biggest selling point of this game is the physical way in which it is played. It's like always having a board game with you to sit down with friends and/or family in the living room - but no need for carrying the boxes or having a spacious table, just plug in the laptop to a big screen tv, get your phones, download apps and ready to go. First time I see a game that is such a fine Desktop/Phone hybrid. The gameplay is simple enough for anyone to grasp and the higher difficulties are…
