60 of 124 · most liked firstI loved Faster Than Light and I was very happy to see a fresh take on the genre. Actually my expectations were exceeded due to the strategic freedom you are given: the fact you can move the ship during combat adds a huge amount of depth since you have to devise different fighting tactics depending on your ship design. For instance you can build a heavy fortress based on defense and powerful short range weapons. Running from enemies won't be an option and evasive movements will be effective…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While the concept for this game is excellent I can't recommend it for one reason: Not enough content. There are only a few (~10) randomly generated events that exist at all, with each system being a random combination of them + 5 story events which don't scale with difficulty progression. There are 3 factions of enemies with different styles of fighting, and allies that are just copies of one of the enemies but friendly. The amount of available modules for your ship is decent, but not huge,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought the game cause i loved the screenshots, but then I realized I am one of "those few" that don't like FTL and I did notice the resemblance. So I started sorta cold, but now I have to confess I am warming up a lot with my ship getting stronger and better equipped and battles getting bloodiers. The game is polished, well executed and very pleasant in visuals, UX and gameplay in general. I absolutely adore the enemies AIs. Whilte simple there's such a good variety of behavioral patterns…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice idea, lots of potential... And unfortunately, akin to many other games, completely overpriced for the under developed end result you get. Don't bother getting this game unless you got a hefty discount. It is nothing more than a nice time waster. 5$ would be a good price range.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is both a lot to like and a lot to be desired about this game. Voidship: The Long Journey is about a ship with a name of your choosing traversing the galaxy after humanities empire is brought to heel by an ancient alien race. You travel the galaxy building your ship as you go along, in the hopes of rebuilding humanity. Voidship is interesting, for those who have played FTL: Faster Than Light you may find this to be very similar in that you’re the captain of a ship traveling the galaxy…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Many space games are too slow and tedious to learn, but not this one! This is probably the only game I have played where the tutorial is as thrilling as the game itself. As soon as you have assembled your crew the game throws you right into the action and from there onward every battle is an exciting challenge. Things I like the most: So many ways to design your ship. Huge variety of ship modules (most you have to unlock first). Massive battles with a lot of drones, rockets and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pick it up on sale -- for me, $5 was the sweet spot. The game is buggy (looping sound effects, accidentally nuking yourself while picking story dialogue options, etc), and has some broken mechanics, such as: - enemy capital ships spawning directly in front of you in some random encounters - ramming-type vessels destroying your ship within the first few seconds of a battle (not an exaggeration: I once died immediately after the battle started, before I could start moving) But, it's got an…

This game might be the thing for you but I would take the games description with a pinch of salt. I found…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have you ever wanted to created your very own spaceship? Of cours you have, then Voidship is the game for you! There are numerous ways you can build your spaceship and each has their advantages. Building a spaceship is one thing but how it will perform is up to you as you can chose between controlling your ship directly or using an RTS style. Furthermore you can use ship/crew powerups which keep the space battles interesting. Voidship is one of the few games that deals with how long space…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Seems interesting. Fun to start. Quickly overwhelmed by monotony and ridiculously uneven contests with no hope of success. After 10 systems or so, 50 ships vs 1? Please. Throw tons of engines on and kite the enemy to death, slowly, over and over again.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →With nearly 2 hours in: -some bugs, but nothing gamebreaking so far. -nice story so far, where your decisions will have some impact on your playthrough -the soundtrack is matching -Kind Discord comunity -If you liked FTL and or SPAZ, this is for you!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What you get: - Space campaign in which you go through several generations of officers who die of old age. - Space battles in which you can use a wide array of arsenal to survive, you can battle RTS or WASD style and you can pause the action and use abilities (very useful in later difficulties). - Fully customizable and somewhat rebuildable space-ship which will lose its parts during battle as the enemies dig deeper into more vital parts of the ship (you get some resources back so you can…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played Voidship a lot in the beta and it is very fun! Not many games have been able to satisfy that FTL type itch. This one manages it. Voidship differs from FTL quite a bit with it's more action orientated space combat. Building ships with different layouts leads to endless possibilities. The story side of it is also very interesting and doesn't distract from the action. If you buy one indie game this month that's not in a bundle, make it this one!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So much potential in this game but it just became tedious and boring. - The ship building works well - Good selection of weapons and different paths to have a successful battleship - Missions aren't varied (destroy, destroy with friends, destroy with fog of war) - RPG elements are simplistic and a little annoying - mission guidance is lacking A good attempt but I lost interest...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not into RTS games and yet i enjoy Voidship. Ship to ship battles require some tactical micro-management at times (pause and give orders) other times you can play it real time without issues. Ship and crew customization are both worth a peek as well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like this game but would like to see more in the way of story line, missions and more weapons and engine upgrades to keep things fresh and challenging. Love the kamikaze ships don't get rid of them ! ( They keep you on your toes ) Speed and fire power are life and looking at the arena like A boxing ring will will help over come heavy odds and allow you to catch your breath make repairs and get ready for the next round in A some what neutral corner but keep you eyes peeled and be ready…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm early in the game and having a great time. The game has many of the systems you would expect in a space exploration game: a ship, crew, resource management, combat. Those systems though are implemented in a simplified way to make them easily accessible and manageable. You don't have to spend 2 hours in a tutorial to learn how to manage the game. You can jump in right away. Crew management is straight forward. The game takes place over a large span of time though so crew members get old and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great pew-pew action. Nice options for customization, nice difficulty curve. Recommended for any roguelike/FTL/space opera fans!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I remember being annoyed at this game when I first played it and dropped it. So I came back years later to give it another chance. Right away, it irritated me again as the one time it spawned decent characters, it screwed up the tutorial and left me being attacked in manual mode while telling me "no no, you totally auto-attack, it's fiiiine". Started a new run only for every character to have awful penalties, but it requires you to equip them all. Beat tutorial sector, fly to the 2nd area,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite fun for the first 1~2 hours, but as you play, you will encounter tougher encounters that WILL destroy your ship parts leaving you unable to replace those broken parts. From there, you will go on a downward spiral of scrapping by. A lot of the parts are expensive and not to mention, depends on your luck to unlock them. Its a 5/10 for me
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Easy to pick up and play, I don't think it was meant to be really deep like a lot of other space games, I do think twenty bucks is too much to pay for this though, maybe ten, but two dollars and seventy six cents is a deal!!! I recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game indeed If you're wanna play space shooter with a lot of ship customization and a variety of weapons, defenses, and other modules. Pretty good deal for the price. Yes, I recommend this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved this game right away. If you're looking for an easy-to-play space shooter with a lot of ship customization and a variety of weapons, defenses, and other modules to choose from, and if you want a game that you can play for short- or medium-length sessions, I don't think you can go wrong with Voidship.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Voidship is a game with good (though not wholly original) ideas and decent execution when it comes to game systems. The problem arises with the amount of unique content. The exploration portion of the game has very little going on. The events you come across aren't varied enough to make traveling entertaining for more than a couple of hours and every other thing you do on the in system map is largely meaningless. Crew management is extremely simple and the benefits you can get from a good crew…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not such a long Journey. In my 19 hours of play time with some time afk I did several attemted runs, including a final completed one and cheat-one to verfiy that I not just suck in finding good loadouts but that the game is intended to get ridiculously hard if you take to long. You only have to go to 4 marked systems. To reach these systems you have to go through a few additonal systems but should basically choose the shortest route as the enemies get harder and harder with every "jump"…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was worried about the blockiness detracting from my enjoyment, but it works pretty well. Weapons & explosions sound great, and the effects do their job. People complain that the crew lifespan is too short.. and I agree. When travelling to the next system, they will level up and then almost immediately die afterwards. So now instead of a choice of crew members or resources as a reward, I always pick crew. "Traditions system – Decide which principles define the surviving Terran people." The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Think Gratuitous Space Battle's graphical style/combat, with a sprinking of FTL, namely the sector-map, and text-based story and events. A decent array of ship parts lets you alter/rearrange and setup your ship (mostly) however you like, although you need to find or acquire the tech to build 'em first. Crew bonuses, penalties, and skills all change how you'll perform in combat, especially because there's no escaping the passage of time here, so don't expect to keep the same crew the whole…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is fun but can be very challenging if you mess up in the begining.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thought long and hard on this one, I really wanted to be able to give it a thumbs up, but the negatives simply stack up too high. For starters, it is very monotonous, the exact same thing happens in sector after sector. Red ones are the same, blue ones are the same. Some have a little bit of variety, but even those show up over and over again. Then there are basic things like ship controls. You get two options, one that is semi-automatic. where the guns fire well, but the controls are so…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great indie spaceship management game with real-time battles and pretty cool developer! I've seen this project in various stages and it's crazy how bigger and better it got over time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Meh, I got it on sale. It starts off fun and addictive. Then it becomes frustrating because of the overwhelming enemy numbers and nebula that have ion burst that disable your ship. These burst, while natural occurrences, seem to target your ship and en masse. Leaving you sitting there getting pummeled by the onslaught of enemy ships. This is about the time you wan't a refund. But if you press on, you will eventual save enough money to buy better weapons to take down many of the smaller craft…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun space sim-type game, but the game lacks direction in aiding the player. You will feel lost not knowing on what or where you're supposed to go next. I have over 15+ hrs in previous builds and the game has remained mostly the same. I do like this game, however the lack of information on how hard an area is or what type of preparation needs to be done before going into battle really makes it hard to recommend this. What do all of the colors mean? Why do the symbols mean? I can't find a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would love to see controller support added. Otherwise, wonderful game with an amazing soundtrack. The toggle-able RTS to Bullet-hell is a great innovation that I've not seen elsewhere!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Feels like a slight variation of Space Run, but instead you move the ship ...instead of spending time replacing, repairing, and turning towers. Overall a ton of fun, but unpolished. • Some text running over other text in item/character stats/descriptions. • Some battles begin with a text box in the way while the enemy is beating on you. • When a mission is done, and you click to close text boxes or exit, your ship annoying fires in the background. Didn't see options to bind other mouse buttons…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is very very slow. To finish battle you need to destroy all enemies and all their modules. It can take even like 20 minutes when enemies alredy can not shoot you. Output damage is so low that you go for a tea and come back after 15 minutes just to check if your ship destroyed already everything. Game is very easy and very boring. Nothing to do - just watch how your ship slowly destroys enemy modules. Not recommended unless you are looking for something what will help you to sleep.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Having played it for a bit now I can say I love this game. All encounters seem to be short enough, so they don't get grindy, but somehow I have just spent 2h on this game. It's nice, that it can be played exactly how you like it by customizing your power-ups, your ship and even how you play encounters - as a strategy game like point and click or directly controlling ship and weapons. Story is good, music suits the genre and overall feel of the game is perfect. 10/10 would nuke half of my ship…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(I am running a 40K game using a hack of Mothership I'm calling #Voidship, and this was a quote from this evening's session.)
unlabelledView post →Way too short. The game mechanics are shallow. Ship building is severely limited. This seems more like a demo than a full game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I haven't played long, but long enough to know that I love this game. Stellaris story telling, SPAZ combat, and rogue-lite for replayability. It has what many rogue-lites I've played lack (for me). Addictiveness. Absolutely worth the cost. The storytelling is a big seller for me.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A combat heavy, procedural space opera with some interesting mechanics rooted in the unforgiving timescales of spaceflight. Gameplay is reminiscent of Reassembly, but I found this game more compelling despite the lower playtime. I completed the game within six hours, but could certainly replay it and attempt a completely different build for my starship. Recommended! Pros: Serviceable graphics that do a particularly good job of visually depicting the diversity of weapons and ships. The heavy…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not bad, not bad at all. Good find in a bundle.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a ship-and-crew builder with some rogue-lite elements. Ship building and crew assigning is streamlined and the first few runs are interestings as you discover the various events and systems. Every run end the same but the way to get there is what differ. You're "the last real terran ship" but there's no big bad (or other system) on your trail so you can progress at your pace while the difficulty climb fairly slowly. The story is standard fare but the music track(s) manage to convey the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Poor and boring space fighting comparing to SPAZ1 (Space Pirates and Zombies 1) although Space fightigns must be the core fun aspect. Roguelike elements and FTL style space voyage is nice but as fighting is poor, I cannot recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wasn’t expecting to sink as many hours as I have into this game, but I’ve been having a lot of fun with it! It’s a bit like FTL in that some of the story content can get repetitive, but there’s arguably more variety here, and dialogue options that feel meaningful. The real fun of the game, though, is in customizing your ship. There’s room for glass cannon builds, tank builds, a Battlestar Galactica build where you rely on fighters to do most of your damage, and if one of your experiments…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What an absolute blast. So this game has two influences, the first is SPAZ (or really any top down space ship wielding game) - except you can right click to move. The second is Faster Than Light, where you jump from sector to sector. Though here fortunately you are not being chased by a big bad that kills you if you go too slow. There are a fair few intricacies in this game, from managing ever aging crew, building your ship, and so on. Certainly worth the money, I can easily say I've got my…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought the game with 80 % discount (so approx 2 bucks), absolutelly worth this little money. Cleared the main campaign on the third try (cca 7 hours ?) with a shielded bomber carrier, which was sometimes too easy - enemy ships just vanished. The only thing that was weird was the glitching dammage on one particular enemy type (no spoilers), which made some regions unnecessarily frustrating. Otherwise, good fun, would appreciate even bigger builds (likewise for foes, of course). Cheers.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DANGER: HIGHLY ADDICTIVE GAME Some have said this is "just another FTL clone", but I assure you it goes much farthen than that, and, although the Modules and incidents are limited, it has a high replayability value... although, as I say above, this game may get you so immersed in it you'll totally lose the concept of time and you may be surprised when you take a look at the clock and notice how many hours you've been playing. The start, even on Easy Level may be a bit hazardous for newbies…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is perfect for people who like to blow stuff up and do it repeatedly, because that's basically what you will be doing. The idea of the game is to design and build a space ship out of different modules available to you. You have a variety of choices to make when designing your ship. Do you want lots of guns? No, perhaps hordes of fighters and bombers instead? Would you like a speed demon? How about a lot of malicious satellites? Whatever you choice for you ship design will be, you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Support Indie developers like this. A smooth game where you have many possibilities as a captain of a space ship. Randomly generated levels that I like with a lot of shooting and ship customizing gives a good experience for Sci-fi fans. This game could be fun even on mobile too. I recommend it because even if you have small bugs, the team is active and helpful with your experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A delightful balance of battle and management, as well as what I find to be really interesting lore. Another example of Estonian excellence, and Mikk Luige is a beast of a game dev. (I'm marking that I got this game for free, because I think I did? I've been testing it for a while now, and still love playing it.)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great game. It's essentially a shoot 'em up but with RPG elements and set in a sci-fi setting. The beginning starts off particularly slow, but once you upgrade your ship, the pace literally picks up. There's also a certain amount of strategy involved in playing this game, mostly regarding the upgrades you decide on for your ship. I received the code as part of a beta-test, but I would definitely buy this if it wasn't in my library. A bit of a warning though, it's easy to lose track of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A space game that gives you a multitude of ways to approach a challenge. You can build your own spaceship and you have to make it stronger and adapt to various situations. Your crew is also very important, but space travel takes a long time and people don't last very long so you need to find new heroes to help you in your quest. The gameplay loop is really fun and addicting. The battles feel good and look pretty. The difficulty feels balanced and failures don't feel unfair. This universe is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played a lot of the demo before I got this on Steam. I definitely don't regret buying as it is a very quaint and fun game Pros/Cons: The comparisons to FTL I somewhat disagree with. The similarities are that there is a text-based component & systems are built around specific 'factions'. Battles (a major part) are completely different. As are crew mechanics, story, ship design and management and pretty much everything else. Looking specifically at the text-based component, then sure.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is a lot to like here. I enjoyed building my ship and there are echoes of FTL a game I really enjoyed. That being said, the fights become repetitive very quickly. The game is buggy as hell too. Can't go an hour without the game crashing
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Downloaded the demo out of curiosity, and because the dev helped me out, but didn't expect to like it as much as I did. First time I bought a game on it's release day! The combat gives me a weird feeling of being totally overpowered and in control while simultaniously feeling terrified that one of my modules is about to blow up.. it works really well for me. Good job Milu :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I usually don't play this type of games but it was recommended to me and I must say this game is cool! It has awesome art, impactful explosions and simple fun gameplay. Definitely recommending to check it out ;)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Races and techs wise the content is still placeholder. Will not have something as plain as "Human Republic" in the actual game. Races will be future projects of who's alive in the galaxy at about the year 3000 from my previous game Voidship.
unlabelledView post →Voidship really doesn't deserve the hate as it's definitely got potential. The game reminds me of Space Pirates and Zombies 2 and it seems to be a one-man project. It's also perfectly playable and there's enough content to keep you engaged for a few gaming sessions. What to expect: Light RPG elements in the form of permanent bonuses and maluses during your journey based nn your choices. Real-time control of a spaceship during battles with either the AI controlling the cannons and movement…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a fun game, it has it's flaws but not "Mixed" level by any means. If you're a fan of games like Shortest Trip to Earth, Out There, etc. this is a great pickup at a relatively fair price. The start can be slow and it might take 1-3 times to get your feet underneath you but just know that maxing your battleship with 25 components seems like it happens in the first 20%~ of the game if that helps you measure your pace. Reminds me a bit of original SPAZ and a bit like Cosmoteer.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I paid a bit over two dollars for this game and I think it is worth it. I just beat it on my third try with 4 ravager laser turrets and three mauler cannons. I will probably beat it at least two more times to try some different builds. Someone who paid 10 might be a bit disappointed, but it is definitely worth scooping up on sale. Edit at 22 hours... This game is really good. There are many hidden things that you can get through missions. I will admit, it is a bit annoying getting crew…
