Those behind this game threw away decades of work and ruined their reputations. This is an abandoned and incomplete title. The devs lied about the project. It isn't what they promised. I regret supporting this project, trusting those behind it and wasting my money and time. I wish karma was real. Those who purchased this project should be refunded. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I cannot give this a thumbs up in the current state. I will come back and adjust my review down the road as more updates to the game are released. Sadly, the game is unstable and entirely lacking features and quests in the full release version. I played it quite a bit while still in beta and expected these things to be worked on prior to release, but saying this is a completed game in the current state is misleading. I have yet to make it further than a handful of levels deep before the game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is abandoned and there's hardly any content in it, actually it never left the Early Access phase. Game came out in 2021, last update was also in 2021, their forums are dead, and yet they still have balls doing discounts and trying to sell this crap instead of removing it from Steam altogether. Bought it on its release to support the devs and waited for them to finish the game, what never happened. And you wonder why people stopped believing in the Early Access.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can't recommend this. The tutorial has a bug where it tries to teach you how to graft an arm onto your body for an extra weapon. But following every step nets you a failure to graft because it can't find the arm in your inventory. The game has the same bug I pointed out 8 months ago, which a Dev responded too; items on the ground give fake stats. A hat may say it gives you +1 Dodge Value on the ground, only to give you nothing when you pick it up. I had a Mithril Small Shield say it gave +2…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As of writing, January 2025, there has been no update since October of 2021. Do not buy for full price if at all because this is an abandoned alpha game. Definitely more bang for your buck from other roguelikes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought into this project early, when it was sold under the assumption of becoming a larger endeavor. It was not. ADoM was a classic from when I was younger, and I found myself eager to support a new project. EA games are something I buy into frequently, and I've been let down in the past. I rarely complain, but let's talk about the game itself: The game is unfinished and unpolished. It plays like a clumsy version of most early roguelikes with graphics. There are a few unique features(ie:…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They abandoned the game before finishing it. I'll remember to stay away from these names.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ADOM (The Original) is hard. HARD. It kicks your ass repeatedly, and when you finally have a good run, it kicks your ass in a new and unexpected way. What they tried to do here was an admirable attempt at making ADOM more accessible. The problem with this idea is that the existing fan base wasn't looking for easier, and for the vast majority of new players, this is harder than its cutesy graphics make it out to be. (It can be punishing, but is in no way shape or form as difficult,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good idea, never finished, then abandoned. Do not support this behavior, play something else.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Took the money and ran.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →abandoned, unfinished, and unfulfilled promises
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thomas Biskup has abandoned this, just as they had other projects. Do not buy this, it will not be finished. It's currently very much a buggy mess of half-fleshed out ideas. Tons of other great roguelikes out on the market, most free(dungeon crawl stone soup, tome) others you can purchase here(tome's enhanced version, cogmind, caves of qud, etc). Do not spend money on this title, even at 50% off.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Abandoned, unfinished and simply not even close being an Alternative to the original "ADOM". Words like "Cashgrab" come to mind (and a lot of other, censored Adjectives as well. So if you want to get an entertaining "Roguelike" -> Go buy "Approaching Infinity" instead. It gets patched constantly for Years now. Don ´t be fooled by the Label "Early Access". Original Release was ages ago. https://store.steampowered.com/app/551620/Approaching_Infinity/
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Abandoned game. Not finished, bugged. Don't recomend this developer.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an unfinished game the developer / publisher abandoned. Game is somewhat playable but without a lot of "promised features". I highly recommend finding another rougelike to play instead and avoid these devs/publisher in the future..
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Devs took the money and run away.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i don't believe that a game needs to be updated and worked on forever, nor do i think that failure to do this is abandoning the game. however, this game is not finished, and by all appearances has been abandoned. it's a real disappointment because ADOM might be the game that i have spent the most time on in my entire life, and i was excited for this. i generally don't click the thumbs down but here i feel i need to. i'm sorry but i'm going to do it. i'm gonna click the no button
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First off I want to say, in no way, should this game be considered a full release. Its got a lot of potential, and definitely has that insta-death feeling of old-school rogue games. There's definitely a learning curve and because the game is new, there isn't very much to go off of in terms of wiki information :< I've had a lot of fun with it, however. I'd suggest picking this game up after its gotten a bit more love, however, I still recommend it in its current state, just a lot less so.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game was released half-finished and then abandoned so the dev could go cash in on what will probably be another half-finished and soon abandoned game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I purchased it while still in Early Access. But then it was moved out to full release with only one update. It's functionally still very much EA/alpha state, it is *not* complete yet. It *is* playable, but it is *not* a finished game as it is being sold as. With so many features still so obviously missing and little in the way of updates since October (it's about to be January) I can't recommend others spend money on it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do not buy 1- Ultimate ADOM is a dumbed down version of ADOM. Ultimate on the name is a scam to confuse people of what they are purchasing, it is not an improved version of ADOM, it is a casualized one 2- They released the game buggy as hell and in an atrocious state, the game is not finished 3- The developers run away from the title, they don't push updates, they don't fix bugs, they don't answer the forums. This game is abandonware Do not purchase this game under any circumstance, if you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all, my low game hours is because Steam doesn't count offline playtime. That being said, I DO NOT recommend this game, to anyone. Especially not to fans of the original. Dungeon features are unimplemented except for infinite chaos goo spread. You will end up as a mindless chaos spawn, which is game over, if you move too slowly, or spend even one too many turns healing instead of heading straight down to your death. Seriously, who thought that it was a good idea to make a roguelike…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't like to not recommend a game, especially one that I like and from a small team, but I've got to make an exception to this game and this is also due to the respect I have for the devs. This game was released in a rushed state more than a year ago, and it received no support ever since, and it's because there's something going on between the devs and the publisher. Whatever is going on, I hope one day they can sort it out and support this game once again with patches and content and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are an absurd number of bugs and non-sensical tooltips throughout this game. It looks nice, but it's so hard to play as the navigation of everything, from the interface to the actual map, is terrible. :(
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is NOT ready. Should still be early access. Hope they update it...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, I guess this is done. No updates in two and a half years, and what we have isn't a shadow of the original ADOM. Couldn't possibly recommend this to anyone in the state it's in.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Clearly abandoned shortly after launch. A shame, really.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Respond to the damned criticisms about your unfinished game, devs. This was clearly not ready to leave early access. You CAN'T play a summoner in any cramped area, period, because there's no way to just move past them (Or if there is, I haven't discovered it and the game doesn't cover it).
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Appears to have been abandoned years ago and is just a demo of base mechanics. Unfortunate, I recall being stoked that this was being developed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Abandoned with bugs
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfinished and abandoned, I expected more from Thomas Biskup.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately, still a bit too buggy to recommend, also the dev teams lack of communication makes it hard to see if it's worth waiting.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is my first negative review ever. Game is a half backed, watered version of ADOM they went 1.0 in a rush but it's 1.0 just by name. The refrain was "ADOM took many years to become the game you know today" assuming they would kept working on this one to make it better. Well it will never happen : no updates since ages nor communication whatsoever. Avoid this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfinished unfun game. Dev doesn't answer on the forums so it seems to be abandoned.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I grew up playing Rogue, Angband, Nethack, etc., so I really wanted to like this game, however I feel like it's just not in a state where I can recommend someone buy it. The Pros: 1. It is definitely reminiscent of the early Rogue games. 2. There are times when it is a lot of fun. The Cons: 1. Due to the nature of the enemies further along in the game, you really can't specialize in any one direction. You have to be good at both melee and casting/ranged due to the fact that later in game,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Play as a Wizard or Play nothing at all. Equipment will randomly disappear and strange deaths will occur without warning (or explanation). Finished it twice as a Wizard and its easy to crush the enemy. But as an archer... my bow has disappeared twice when I picked up other equipment. I just went through 5 levels without finding another bow instead I was murdering everyone with a super deadly dagger.... strange days.... Developer needs to finish correcting the code for these weird glitches.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A disgusting move to cash on the goodwill from ADOM. I don't mind giving some money for a free game I played 20+ years ago, which expanded my idea of roguelikes; and I did buy this for that purpose as soon as it appeared on Steam. I think Thomas Biskup deserves praise for ADOM. He and his team also deserve all the condemnation going their way about this piece of crap.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not one to leave reviews, and this is more of a warning than a review. Game is unfinished and abandoned, buy a game similar to this instead if you want to buy this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A story told countless times. Improved grapichs over the old one. Countless promises told to be delivered in record time. Downgraded literally everything else. Rushed and broken beyound belief.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It had such promise, interesting ideas, great graphics ... but is a total failure in practice. Feels like a version of ADOM made for kindergarteners playing on their phones. 50% of the features were never fleshed out, so many other promised items never released, and now the developer seems AWOL. Very disappointing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Devs abandoned this game before it was even halfway as good as the original. Stick to regular ADOM.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Review of 10/21 Early Release version: DO NOT SPEND MONEY! on this expecting a finished game. This is most definitely NOT a finished gaming experience. It would acceptable as a Demo or free-to-play Early Access, but I feel bad paying for what is currently available. While the faction, race, and skills are many and interesting, and the scope of the systems and mechanics that the developer seems aiming to implement are likely to create a fun to play in world, based on the blogs and previous…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is bugged and unfinished. I'm really disappointed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm very sad that devs abandoned this game without fleshing it out. It's really close to a buggy mess right now, a lot of features don't work, so many good ideas went down the drain. Do not recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good fun, NOT recommended at this point. It is late January and the last update was in October. Many, many bugs that need fixing and features that obviously missing. Some are game braking, like the huge lag (memory leak?). Wait for some serious update(s) or really deep discount to get this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately the game appears to be abandoned and like people have said it has many bugs that do not appear to be getting fixed. It's a shame as it seemed like it had some serious potential.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As much as I would like to recommend this game as it feels like a lot of work went into it, as a fan of the original ADOM (yes I'm that old), this new version falls short in many ways. The most glaring omission is the lack of an overland map, the game just drops you in a dungeon at the start, which in my mind is a huge misstep as the overland map was one of the best and most unique parts of ADOM. The dungeons are repetitive and seem to be only partially randomly generated, with the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is abandoned and not really complete. If you are interested in true roguelikes just get the original ADOM, or Caves of Qud.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DO NOT BUY - even on discount! TONS of bugs, yet I tried to endure them... When I finally reached far into the game - it froze! When I restarted the game and tried to load save - the level does not load and then it freezes again... This game had a huge potential for sure. The way you develop the character and the amount of possibilities - is pretty nice. But the gamebreaking bugs kill the game, sadly :/ Apparently there are missing features when compared to original ADOM - altars for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you think this game will be anything like its predecessor, you will be very disappointed. The game is very playable, but it's not finished. There's holding text in places, crazy balance issues and some features promised in the blurb that simply aren't there. If you fancy spending a few hours hiking through dungeons, get it on sale, otherwise, avoid. It's such a shame - the game has massive potential and would have been amazing if it had been finished. As it stands, it's just more Abandonware…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yes, I own this on PC, and while not perfect I loved it. Bought it on the Nintendo Switch so i could play on the go (I'm Australian, we're not allowed to have steam decks) Made by Same team, same game W R O N G The game crashes while saving - I know, right? think that QA would have fond that one. Nope. Here is the gold plated response from Assemble entertainment: "I will forward your observations to the developers and they will have a look into this. However, I cannot make any promises that…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a mess. It feels unfinished and contains bugs. UI / UX is awful. You should play original ADOM, which is in different league than this. If you insist to support the developer you should by ADOM from steam. I decided to support the developer since I've played ADOM a lot in the past. Should've bought original ADOM.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →8 months since last update. Game was barely playable, game is abandoned. Gave them a chance and they ruined it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They just released the game in an unfinished state, gave two more updates, and then abandoned it. Do not buy, just play dungeon crawl stone soup instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game should have never left early access and while whats here is not terrible it is easy to tell it is in an unfinished state with little hope of updates.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thought this was a graphical version of ADOM, and was a little surprised to find that it is actually a graphical version of just one of the dungeons from ADOM and does not include anything not immediately combat related. This wouldn't be a huge issue, it could still make for a decent dungeon crawl with those limitations, but unfortunately it just seems very buggy and unfinished. Not in the 'needs minor tweaks' type way, but in the 'didn't get around to implementing that' way. I am also…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Please don't but it. This is not finished product and it should be in early access. This game doesn't cover even faction of the promised content. It has just one cavern, few quests. Even diagonal movements doesn't work. What is disappointing is that development doesn't happen any more. Looks like the author cashed out and forgot about the project.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was going good. Now abandoned don't buy. ADOM is dead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is unfinished, has performance issues and is abandoned. Play the original instead.
