60 of 180 · most liked firstAfter "Ports of Call" and "TransOcean", "TransOcean2" is the successor of 2 pretty entertaining games. The UI is far better than in TO and the new features (regional upgrades, rivalry with up to 7 AI opponents or real MP) are very nice additions. I´ve played through the campaign in about 100 hrs to achieve everything. Not a lot of games keep me interested for so many hrs. Most negative reviewers were writing at release date (they wanted a pause button). Most of those reviewers didn´t change…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If there is 3rd opinion than Yes, No, and Netural. I would choice Netural. But, If people ask me for this game. I would have say "yes" and "up to you" Many review upset about no pause. At first I think it's not big deal about no pause. After all I have only one ship... then two ship.. 3rd ship... as you get more ships it become stress for not able to pause as they arrive port. you're not there to dock while tug ship is on strike as you time run out then get fined for arrive late. I hope they…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was so incredibly hyped for this game, I have watched the development from the day it was first announced, that being said I've struggled with debating if this game is a good, short answer yes long answer: not till they fix a few things. For starters what is new? New vessels such as bulk and tanker vessels, however, they all play the same have very different benefits, The region points system, this system allows you to get benefits from a region by building subsidies and collecting a profit…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like the game, and there is actually a lot of small things to like in terms of regional strategy, ship types, economics, strategy. But the overshadowing all-encompassing problem is that there seems to me at least to be literally NO quality of life or automation options, at least not in the campaign. This leads you to play games where you literally every 8 seconds need to handle a new ship transfer or transit. You cannot enable autofueling, you cannot enable autorepairs when…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed TransOcean 1 and jumped right on board with this latest version. After playing for 10 or so hours I find I just don't enjoy this version, I'm finding it just frustrating to play. Campaigns are a mutha to achieve even a simple 1 start rating in order to advance. Some chapters are easier than others, but after chapter one, I don't see how you're going to achieve more than 1 star and even then it's pretty garsh darn hard to do so. The AI should be gimped enough to allow at…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just bought this game during the 2017 Steam summer sale. If you're a fan of the transportation and/or tycoon games, TO2 is right up your alley. The 2nd iteration is a great improvement over the original game. TO2 adds new mechanics that give you interesting strategic choices. They greatly enhance the game experience overall, while keeping the core gameplay of managing a shipping company and profitable route planning intact. - Competition again AI or human players applies some extra…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →With the addition of the pause system from TO 1, this game is enjoyable now. I'm still looking for some tweaks to the tug boat system
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Congratulations to your quick response to input from users. A most pleasant game now without the feeling of things getting out of hand when I was in port thinking about my next move.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Much better after the patch that auto-pauses when events happen. Gives you time to think and plan, rather than race against the clock.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok, I did not play much, but the only single player game I tried did get me a bit angry at some of the game mechanic. First I was lucky to have waited and not have to fight with the lack of pause when the game was launched. But right now I am fighting with another game mechanic that seem flawed like hell. I tried to play a game against the maximum amount of AI competitor. Starting to build my own company I saw one of the AI company starting to soar, while working in an area that should not…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is pretty cool. but need new updates. Anyway i like this kind of strategy games...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To adress the main gripe everyone has with this game: in single player mode you can pause the game any time the timer is running by hitting the spacebar twice. The first time does bring up the options screen but by hitting it again it takes away options screen the game goes back to the game while the timer is paused.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In my 14+ year steam history I've refunded 2 games, this is one of those. I've only tried to play for 35 mins, so this is more of a rant than a review. Do so seek more opinions if you're not deterred by all the negative reviews. The first game is OK, kinda clunky and a bit confusing sometimes but i still playable. This version is just a train wreck, the interface is x10 more confusing than the first and all attempts to "fancy up" the GUI just made it messy and clumsy, The graphics is just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The 'Problem' with this game is that is has the POTENTIAL to be brilliant. It just isn't finished. It has loads of bugs, the contract engine needs attention spent on it for example. A small Size 1 port has contracts for tankers for the size of 2 million - even though no ship of that size could possibly enter a size 1 port. It's these little things, which would take 5 minutes for the developers to fix, which are lacking. The attention to detail in some areas is brilliant, in others it's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This review is not on the game as I have not been able to get it to work yet, other people are having the same issues as I am so it\'s not an isolated problem. My game does not work it get stuck on the loading screen and will not come off it, I have had the game 4 weeks now and so far all the Devs want to do is tell me it\'s my drivers which it is not as all drivers are up to date. Then they tell me they are trying to fix the problem in snotty emails. If nothing is heard back off them in the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I pre-ordered and at first with out the pause in port option I was frustrated by this game. However Deck13 listened and implemented a pause feature (in single player only) Once that feature was added this game bvecame a decent one. And now that I have beaten the game in single player, I will enjoy endless sandbox and multiplayer
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a cerified Transocean 1 enjoyer and Tub-drifter, I cannot recommend this game. Manual parking now only possible under certain situations, way less tokyo-drifting when doing so. Less customization options for your company emblem, less color options for your ship. And why tf do I have to use 25 million of company money to get my employee from the first game out of jail, just cause his Sister speaks about some conspiracy...and what kind of ridiculous bail is that for this random loser? Nah nah…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Everything in this game is worse then the first one. It's annoying to buy a ship. It's annoying to upgrade or repair a ship (if you can find a spot to do it). Contracts are annoying to deal with. The map is ugly and makes it harder to find you ships among all your competitors ships. The voice acting is terrible. You don't get to customize you company in campaign. The campaign instead of one long game its setup into scenarios that is like an arcade. The whole game is more arcade. It's nice to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is too easy and it's low on strategy. Also, the loading screen to the port was killing me... If you see this game for $5-$10 or under, scoop it up for a couple of hours/minutes of shipping fun.. I liked the first one too, it had issues, but I thought they were gonna improve on them. This is somewhat of a different game.. Which isn't bad, but not what I was expecting and not executed properly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is very easy. I liked the predecessor. The campaign is way to easy and the user interface is cumbersome. E.g. the ship list overlaps with the contract terminal. There are other quirks as well. The whole game is missing extra polishing. While it isn't a full price title the campaign is very short and dull. :(
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I must admit that, at first, I was disappointed with this title. I had played the first TransOcean game and fell in love with it, so I was highly anticipating this game. The game mechanics are changed quite a bit and that put me off for a while. However, as I have started playing through the Single-Player Campaign and actually learn how to use all the new game mechanics I have found myself falling in love with TransOcean 2. I'm starting to get that feeling where I just want to keep playing…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great tycoon management game! They improved many irritating things from the previous game. It's now more fun! I would recommend some improvements : Ability to end a campaign after 1st medal Ability to create endless round trip routes Fix or improve more than one ship at a time in the same port

( the ai compatition is good, the other changes to the game are awfull ) Transocean 1 is great, make 3 like 1 this is your chance to become the trucking sim of the seas...

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game play loop: 10 - unclick pause 20 - wait until delivery event 30 - select nearest best paying shipping 40 - dispatch ship 50 - goto 10 After few hours you will realize NPC opponents have no problem running the above loop for 10+ ships as they do not have click and wait load screens for ports loading into memory :/ Simpleton and no fun game, avoid it at all cost.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To buy this game, like I did, is a waste of money. The predecessor was fairly good. To me this game is a beta release and I believe it will never be finished even though the game has great potentiel if Deck 13 would listen to the community and implement some of the good surgestions the have made in the forum, but that does not happen they just ignore all the good surgestions from the community. It's over a year since the game was releaced and allmost none of the community's good surgestions…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all, I loved TO1. But, like some other reviewers it feels like a completely different game. The time scales are so screwed up I can barely get in to four different ports before the 120 days in the first stage is over. Let alone move on into the second stage. You dont even have time to place for even the bronze medal. Although it looks more graphically pleasing quite honestly Its like shining up ♥♥♥♥.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A 'just-next' version of Trans Ocean 1. TOs originally kicked of well and are interesting sim-management games. Let us hope there is a 3rd coming our way
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm a fan of tycoon games, and I really like the idea of one based on the shipping industry. (I also played Ports of Call back in the day.) TransOcean 2 looks good and runs well but I can't recommend it for the following 2 reasons: 1) Lack of gameplay balance and 2) lack of gameplay depth. The following focusses on single player modes only as I’m not into MP. (A word on that later) There is a ‘campaign’. It’s basically a tutorial that delivers what scant details there are to know about TO2 in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very polished version of the cult PC game Ports of Call and an unsuccesfull squel to TO1 . If you liked Ports of Call you will probably love that game too. TO1 and TO2 isnt that much different. So you can buy TO1 instead. However such games are missing many details that simulation fans are expecting. We are fine with OK graphichs ...Such games doesnt have to have cutting edge graphics, but have new ideas and useful details. i.e Personel management could be a good contribution to TO2.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game love it just wish it was more people playing online :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am very dissapointed with this game. I loved the first one and I was under the impresion that this second one was going to be even better, but is not. I was able to play the game when first came out but after the first update, is not loading anymore, it just stay looping at the splash screen and not tech support is telling me that is my computer not meeting the minimum specs. so how was I able to play the game in the beginning?? Personally I do not recommend this game at this time,
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm one of the TO1 fans who enjoyed and still enjoy playing it, so i was really looking forward of playing the sequel (TO2). I pre-ordered a week before release, but in the beginning i couldn't make myself to play without a working & bug free pause function. It was frustrating for me to play without a pause. So, now after the devs brought the pause function back, i'm enjoying playing the game now as i did with the TO1. There's still bugs, but the devs are (hopefully) very busy fixing them.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played it for 30 minutes and I probably never will again. THIS is a shame and a hit in the face of the fans of TO1. This game is no advancement at all. I am very disapointed. If you want, grab TO1, but don't touch this one. After a few minutes you will be sick of clicking contracts... Too bad! Edit: Refund request done! Edit: Got the refund!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not bad at all... Reminds me of the first one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was expecting more from this version. The graphics has been updated, yea. But how about the playability? This game has become too easy, the Rivals is not woth it in my oponion. I'd like moore new docks, not just a few other docks. I'd like the option to navigate manually out of all harbours, all the time. I'd like more info in docks, when not docked... (a harbour office, or alike) I was able to run the ship out of the harbour on the wrong exit, it was paralell to the set exit. I solved the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They have gone from a good game to messing it up. It's not worth your time or money
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was hoping for a game like the old DOS game "Ports of Call" that I used to play back in the day, but this isn't it. It tries to be that game, but I just can't get into it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I personaly am enjoying this game. Its got the good bits of the last game with new interesting elements. The problem is the formula for the game has changed and features have moved around. As with all games there are bugs but mine are few and far between. I would say this game is going to be epic eventually when bits are fixed and improved. As it stands its fun with new challenges and goals so if you like the first one i'd say get it and enjoy it now and again in 6 months to a year when its…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the route-automation is not the best, since it cant be repeated
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely recommended since the auto-pause patch.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is real rubbish compared to the first game. If you enjoy the first game, don't bother with this one. Don't waste your money on this crap.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The 2nd game is 60% a copy of part 1, but it's a shame that they removed the sailing a ship yourself or put it out of sight
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kind of confusing....yes I recommend it to a specific group of players who like ships, not transportation games, and not to everybody. It becomes very boring quickly. Campaign's are far from challenging. The docking mini game is bugged. The ships sail on land, and you can hit the ships from far away. There is no buying option for rivals. if you have more than 10 ships, the time don't pass. I didn't try the online game... I am not a online player. Maybe it can be more fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I tried this game right after binge playing TransOcean 1 (cf https://steamcommunity.com/id/shabaka/recommended/289930/). While TransOcean 1 was decent, this one is horrible: - long gone is the fast startup time: welcome 3 unskippable logos + 1 mysteriously long startup screen with no progression bar whatsoever. From pressing "Start" in Steam, reaching the game's main menu takes a whole MINUTE. And that's not a figure of speech, I timed it: 63 seconds. On the very same PC where starting…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Money grab by developer. Game is not finished and I guess it never will be,
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I so much wanted for this to be as fun as Ports of Call once was. The UI is terrible and full of modal dialogs stating the obvious. Like, you need to refuel all the time, so meet the refuel popup-and-confirm dialog. As if I ever wanted to sail out without enough fuel. As a single-player game, it is shallow and repetitive. However, it does have some multiplayer charm - quests provide different goals every round, which introduces a bit of strategy. If you can endure the slow pace (no speed up in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'd purchased this together with the first game (bundle sale). As I noted with my review of TransOcean, I was interested in this after playing a similar tablet game - Ship Tycoon. While this game seems to have removed "Docking Simulator" (at least as far I could tell in limited playtime), the interface is still about as clunky and unusuable as the first one. Additionally (and even worse), out of three times playing this, I had three hard crashes. For a game that has been out as long as this…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →dont bother with this, i cant get it to load after selecting home port, system just keeps looking as if it is loading something, but never gets there , waste of money
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an unfinished game, I played hours of TransOcean 1 and with the release of TransOcean 2 I expected a whole heap more then what I was given. If you are thinking of buying the game wait until the game has been finished. Or fixed. Update 4 Dec 17: The will not boot on either of my computers and is still as broken as on launch. TLDR: Give it some more time
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely recommended since the auto-pause patch. Full review: http://www.hookedgamers.com/pc/transocean_2_rivals/review/article-1652.html
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For players of Ports of Call on the Amiga. This game does it. Nostalgia Great game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very disappointing game. AI totally stupid and game lacks balance despite trying to introduce different ship types and specialities. I started with playing endless mode with 7 AI companies. I first bought a bulk ship (which says will bring more reputation) and picked up contracts. As I finally gained enough money for a second ship, some AI have already owned 20 ships. The reason was they went for the profitable ship type (tankers). With the sliders I tried to balance the game by lowering…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After 18 hours I unfortunately have to thumbs down this game. While there is a lot of potential here, this game really boils down to a tedious repetitive task, merely picking what cargo contracts to select for every ship. It is fun at first because you think that eventually you'll move to something more involved, and there are other things that need to be decided on in the game, but ultimately you're going through this exact repetition endlessly: Open Contracts window, select cargo for a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very repeative game play, and a very bad story in the campaign
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You are basically paying for a loading screen and that's it for £20. Got it in the sale for £10 but still not worth it and therefore has been refunded. I loved Transocean: The Shipping Company but this game game just falls way short. My computer exceeds the recommended system requirements. Until they fix this problem I will not have any plans of re buying this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I waited before a few updates had been released before I started playing this properly, and it is quite enjoyable. Very different to the first Transocean game and clearly designed with multiplayer in mind. Running through the challenges playing through them opens up more new game features, so it gets more complex slowly. I almost gave up on the first challenge as it seemed too simple and boring, but as you go through them things get more complex so give it time. The most ships I have owned is 8…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played a lot the previous version of the game and spent counless hours in ports of call when i was young (this was on amiga console. Basically the same game but a lot less shiny.) Some of the reason i dont really like this game is likely because im tired of the game. To me, preferring to play single player the game doesn`t really seem to bring too much new in the sense of gameplay. I do like the way information is presented in the game but the mechanics in general to me feels annoying…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Getting a refund. 29 minutes of gameplay, 9 crashes in the game. Barely finished 3 port contracts during all of that.
