Oh, I like the game. It's fun. But what's not fun is the checkpoint save system. If the character dies scavenging late in a night, you'll have to reload to the MORNING before. And if you have to quit the game in the ingame evening because that's just LIFE, guess what? Play through the whole day again. I've got zero tolerance for that. If you value my time, I will value your game.

How to best explain this game? A survival type game only? A resource management game? Perhaps a RTS type game? In truth, it's all of these genres, and none of them. And I say that with a sense of sadness in what I had hoped for this game. But let's first talk about why I even bought this game. I love the medieval era type games. This game is truly faithful to that era. It gives you a sense of what people had at their disposal back then. The graphics and sound are solid and enjoyable. The…

With this game I really tried. I really wanted to enjoy it. I love This War of Mine and think the concept of doing a survival every-move-matters style in this setting is really cool and could work well. I tried two separate campaigns, both the primary siege survival in the keep as well as the scenario where you're in the desert and have to hold out while rebuilding a destroyed ship. But ultimately I was ground down by the interface, the controls and a few aspects of the gameplay. In this game,…

I feel so guilty. I picked up Siege Survival: Gloria Victis during a Steam sale for 90% off, and honestly… it feels wrong. This game is far too good for the $3 I paid. Yes, it’s clearly inspired by This War of Mine—one of my all-time favorite games—and that’s not a knock. Like TWoM, it shifts the focus away from soldiers and combat and puts you in the shoes of the people trapped inside the war. That perspective is still powerful, still raw, and still emotionally effective, and Siege…

I just 100%'d this game as part of my Steam Achievement Tidy Up, and it reminded me how much I loved it when it came out. It's basically This War of Mine but you're in a castle. You've got characters with strengths and weaknesses, who you've got to keep fed, watered, healthy and unharmed while supplying a garrison of troops - if you don't keep them prepared enough, the next day of the siege you're currently weathering will whittle down more soldiers or their morale, causing an eventual break…

NOT RECOMMENDED - it is taken as a so-called YouTube game because that way you can avoid the painful trial-and-erroring of unsuspecting blind players and skip the recurring repetitive and grindy parts and the brutal trial-and-erroring newbie-trapping the game is marred with. Calling this game "mid" would be an undeserved praise. Mid games provide better gameplay experiences on average than what this one does. For context, this is the type of a game where the optimal gameplay style seems to…

This would have been more a lot more fun if it had some element of combat and strategy. As it is you just slowly walk peasants around, one by one, and click icons to build things. You go out at night to scavenge but again you just slowly walk around and click icons. There's no real challenge, the pacing is slow, just boring really. If this had been a 2D turn based game it would have made the pacing a lot faster and the game more interesting. It doesn't help that the graphics performance is also…

I dont usually write reviews on games of this type as they are not my favorite type to begin with but i know many others like the punishment. For me the 'siege defense' was very appealing. And did not deliver. So i write a review. What we got is a survival, time management min-max game and not even spiced that much with RNG either which is obvious around 5+ nights when you realize you have found all there is to clear out in the areas you have access to. So it becomes a hunt for triggering…

"You can't fool me, this is just This War of Mine with a medieval set dressing and less aesthetic flair." Except I love This War of Mine, and this is a good enough This War of Mine clone to scratch that itch satisfyingly. In fact, what I wanted was more This War of Mine, and if anyone had told me this game was a This War of Mine clone I'd have played it sooner. The city exploration mechanics are very satisfying, and having the stable, constant demands of the castle's defenders draining…

The resource management and the times between attacks feel fair. Going around the town sneakily desperatly looking for the few items you need for that day felt good. It set the tone of the game amazingly and i love such games where you arent the hero, but just a civillian surviving. This was untill i realized there are no drawbacks to running around, making noise and fighting guards. Which makes resource gathering and the exploration absolutly trivial. The guards form no danger to you, you…

The game fundamentals are good, idea is nice, but there are some stupid design decisions that makes it stressful to play. So I would give it a 4.5 out of 10.0. This game is not easy. This means, you have to use your time in the most effective way possible. And this means, that controlling your time and prioritizing tasks are critical. That's why it's very stupid NOT AUTOMATICALLY PAUSE THE GAME WHILE THE PLAYER LOOKS AT THE MAP. Is also a VERY BAD DESIGN not placing the pause in a very…

Medieval Siege 'This war of mine' clone. It is quite good at what it does. The game play loop is interesting and well balanced. It works very smooth and the graphics are good. For me, after playing hundreds of hours in TWoM, this one lacks atmosphere. At no point do I care about any of the characters. It is all about managing the resources to win. That is not a negative on its own. Just an observation.

Is this a bad game? No. It is, however, a beat-for-beat midieval clone of "This War of Mine" on a 3-d platform. The 3D environment actually ended up serving it worse given how difficult it is to navigate through terrain that blocks your view. The music, gameplay, setting, aesthetic, and emotional impact are all inferior. If you liked TWoM, it's worth playing, but if you haven't played it, try it first.

So...it's an alright game from what I see. Got it on cheap for the steam sale, and I'm noticing it matches the trend I've seen in some games of: "well if you don't do it perfect your screwed" Main items to let you know what I'm talking about: Shovels and Torches You'll find quick those are main items you need, cause exploring town at night is actually how you survive and thrive. You walk around scavenging resources, which at first seems plentiful, but if you don't immediately use those shovel…

This one is as others have mentioned, so close but not quite in about every aspect. If there is a follow up which improves on each aspect and adds a little more depth and variety, I'm in! Improve everything and have more factions or characters to get/start with or create your own. Unique game play (at least from what I've experienced out there) both a mini castle building sim, survival exploration and pretty terrible combat unfortunately. It's not a bad game, it truly isn't it just under-delivers in an extremely niche genre, the story isn't bad but it isn't compelling, the gameplay isn't bad but it isn't exciting ultimately it is just 10hrs at best of slightly bemusing time wasting with essentially no reason to be replayed.

TLDR: An interesting take on the ‘This War of Mine’ survival as a peon game. Rough around the edges, but charming and interesting enough for a few days. General Thoughts/Overview: The basic premise of Siege Survival: Gloria Victis (SSGV) is “What if ‘This War of Mine’ was in a 3D explorable space… and medieval… and you were actually important… and it was significantly easier.” We have survived a brutal assault by an invading force. Most of the guard and citizens have been put to the sword…

A bit of an underdog in the resource management genre. A few things to note: 1.) You will always need to plan ahead (resources are scarce and the stakes are always high) 2.) You MUST balance everything. You need enough food not just for you but also the soldiers keeping the castle up. Enough weapons, enough raw material generation, enough to keep above the thin line you have between control and falling apart. 3.) No matter how tempted, DO NOT EAT RAW MEAT or RAW EGGS. Its so easy to get sick…

Plays a bit like a mobile game; repetitive, yet strangely fulfilling and a little addictive. You manage a small group of survivors defending a keep, helping wounded, gathering food and water, making and repairing weapons and armour and scouring the ruins of the city at night. It does feel like there was plenty of room for expansion, but it never happened, for whatever reason. I wouldn't recommend it at full price, but during a big sale, it's a good buy that'll occupy a fair amount of time.

Good idea, horrible result. Day: guys walking around in a courtyard, going from one building to another to find out you lack some resource and you can't do what you planned to. Night: some guy walking around in a city, slowly trudging from a garbage heap to another, rummaging in the hope of finding some stuff to complete at least one out of ten tasks you need to do by day. A decent game, similar to This War of Mine, although significantly more forgiving on normal mode - which I consider a good thing. I bought the game on sales. It feels too much work to play it. The time runs out before you have the time to do enough. This becomes frustrating very fast. You have the resources, but you can't build everything in time before the night. It doesn't even let you use the night for building, as in you don't have the option to skip scavenging so you could build up all tools, building weapons, resources. Add the need to sleep, eat, drink, and basically a day turned into eating, drinking, cutting some…

To all those people, whining about the game being boring and repetitive... Well - so it happens, the medieval sieges tended to be a bit boring an very repetitive. Any aspect of survival in extreme scenario - a siege or otherwise, is a very methodical repetitive process. So... the game does exactly what it "says on the tin". Your aim is to survive the siege, gather and manage resources, plan your strategy, choose your tactics and get by, day by day. And the game is excellent at doing that.

The gameplay felt repetitive and the interface somewhat clunky. I liked the story, but the "game" aspect felt ... stretched? Not sure. The excursions into the city, while interesting at first, got quite boring as well (run and rotate camera until a guard was spotted, walk or hide, repeat). I think I'm just not the target audience…

It just starts to be boring so quickly. It's made nicely and no bugs as far as I found them. But after you understood how the game works it starts to be so repetitive. You just go out for scavenging and build some more "building" with the materials you got. Because it's not enough you start another night for scavenging. That's more or less it.

Really hard to control the characters, and on games likes this, that's straight up death. You can't be stealthy if your character doesn't respond. Siege Survival: Gloria Victis, developed by Black Eye Games and published by Ravenscourt, is a grim and methodical survival strategy game that reimagines the medieval siege from the perspective of the ordinary people trapped within it.
