60 of 197 · most liked firstI mean.....it's alright. The hype in the trailer is a bit much where Elijah Wood and others are saying how something like this has never been done before. It has definitely been done before and to be honest its been done better. Is it a bad game? No. Is it an overpriced game? Yes. Is it a good game? Well, read on and decide because honestly I'm on the fence. --------------- PROS + FMV. It is a genre I do not want to see die out and any chance I get to see it in a game I was…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Anyone wanting to play this game be warned: it installs the outdated Uplay. You'll need to manually install Ubisoft Connect, log in, and only then can you play via Steam. It's unacceptable that they're still shipping this with outdated software. This alone justifies a negative review. Story wise, it's like Soma. The setting is nice. Expect some jumpscares!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It does not say anything on the store page but even though this is single player, it requires a forced "UBISOFT CONNECT" account and login. I know that this is an old game, but it does not matter. I hope this helps someone to avoid this kind of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Calling it a 'game' is overselling it, the ads keeps saying it's like a movie and honestly it would have better off. Gameplay is wandering around the same set of rooms over and over again in the attempt to make something happen. Eventually something goes 'ping' and the process resets. All the while characters keep repeating their one character trait or bad poetry, instead of adding depth. There is all the subtly and nuance of a brick to the face. It's hard to believe this was made by a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can't even play this because ubisoft service is not available, why do I even need your f****g Uplay, Ubisoft, you are i****s
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Seriously Ubisoft launcher sucks. It wouldn't even let me log in. What do you mean I have to install Ubisoft Connect manually to play this?? I bought it on Steam for a reason.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →🎮 Just finished playing #Transference, and it was cool as hell. Not overly scary but some of the repeating audio during tense moments caused some anxiety for sure. Short and fun.
unlabelledView post →An incredibly interesting walking sim. Honestly a huge fan of it's story and vibe. But here I am trying to replay it in 2024 and the Uplay/Ubisoft log-in literally refuses to work. I literally can't log-in to a game I OWN. I literally can't PLAY A GAME I OWN. Cool cool cool. ♥♥♥♥ me I guess. I really wanted to replay a fascinating game experience I loved a few years ago and wanted to re-experience today, but ♥♥♥♥ me Ubisoft, ♥♥♥♥ me.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Haven't even played the game yet, but it was a nightmare to get working. Ubisoft's launcher is horrendous. For anyone who made the mistake of buying it and now can't play, here: https://www.reddit.com/r/uplay/comments/au6oar/a_ubisoft_service_is_currently_unavailable_you/
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →VR on Oculus Quest 2 is unusable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Want a new hobby? Try getting this to run in 2024. If you bought it a while ago on sale and can't return it. Here are a few links: Trying to get the uplay launcher to run (uninstall and dowload from we-be-soft): https://www.reddit.com/r/uplay/comments/iv5vek/uplay_stuck_on_initializing/ Trying to get this app to actually launch in VR (pretty much no solution): https://steamcommunity.com/app/647570/discussions/1/2733047810434183885/ Good luck.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, that was a wash! The game doesn't have any story worth mentioning, the puzzles are on kindergarden level and the ending doesn't yield any surprises. I mean it took me a few minutes to figure out that dad stuck his family in a VR machine, probably drugging them, reading their minds and then leaving their unhappy minds in the machine You walk back and forth for a while, unlock some real world videos with average acting, and that's it. A few jumpscares, spooky sounds, whispery voices and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Only buy it on sale - it's not worth $25: it's only got about 90 min of content, and it's just not $25 quality. I got it for $5 and feel alright with that. Otherwise, pretty fun, some good puzzles but also a couple really annoying ones. Mostly the annoyance came from running around not knowing what the game wanted me to do, since it doesn't really communicate with the player. The concept and some implied story beats are creepy, but the game itself isn't particularly scary. You'll probably get…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So buggy on the Valve Index -- moving the sticks on the controller causes the player to teleport halfway down into the floor, constant issues with tracking, just a huge mess.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very cool game. Especially in VR it was really unnerving and sometimes really terrifying. The story was mysterious and the game was definitely worth it. I just suggest you get it on sale since it is just about 3 hours long, but againvery much worth it. The only reason I would not give it a perfect 10 is because Ubisoft requires you to play it through their uplay app. When you buy it off steam you should be able to play it in steam VR and not through yet another app, which causes extra…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this in VR and liked it a lot. Visually it's a trip to say the least. Very cool environments, the story is good but it's not hard to miss certain parts of it. I'd recommend finishing the game and then reading some synopsis about the story later. The idea overall is unique and the execution is well done.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great concept, horror ambience and decent graphic, but have a very short gameplay, it only take about 1 hour on gameplay or less and the puzzles are too damn easy and super slow movement with small environment/area with the concept this game trying to approach to player, it should have more potential to make the gameplay more interesting, have replay-ability and giving more stories to increase the duration of gameplay the game isn't really worth it and way too overpriced.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kinda lame, kinda boring. Unappealing family drama I couldn't care less about. Bad visuals in VR with objects having wrong real world scaling.. some look tiny, some look huge. Horrible VR controls. Walking barely function, picking up stuff is off... Just an underwhelming experience all around. Perhaps it's better on flat screen. Don't pick this one up if you're looking for an immersive VR experience.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a pretty underwhelming experience with mediocre story, some cool visuals, little to no thriller factor, and bad acting. also, it's really short, in my playtime i completed it twice, and watched all the video logs. (went back for the collectibles to 100% it.) i paid 5 euros for it, now i wish i bought a sandwich instead
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →VR enthusiasts beware. Maybe it's a fun game, but after spending about an hour and a half in the game I had enough. Movement is a big deal in VR, and not being able to move in any direction other than the one you're looking at gets frustrating. Unless you're OK with crawling. In the end I got stuck in the floor. I reset the position, but it just happened again. And again. Had enough. If you're a VR enthusiast like me, don't bother
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do not by this if you want to play it in VR. you have to launch the game first then switch it into VR mode in the setting. But once you do that then the game will not recognize any inputs. Absolutely infuriating.......
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rate 5/10, Advertises as escape room mystery, it's not. about 2.5 hrs. total game-play, blind. Can't say I enjoyed it, the Good, Starts out creepy, but you get use to it fast, The puzzle mechanics are somewhat a repetition. but overall nice VR visual experience, Cons, is the story, it does start out mystifying, but soon lost. Even with collecting the video clips, its not immersive or satisfying. the Ugly, the original control layout with Quest 2 & 3, ain't good. thankfully you can change it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Disappointing: 1. Hard to follow 2. Puzzles(?) 3. Flashy with no substance 4. Boring overall 5. Very short for the price
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wouldn't pay $25.00 for this. The production values are good, but not much else is. If you've played many psychological horror games, you're probably familiar with how many of them work. You wander around through an environment with some creepy ambient sound and visuals. Sometimes there are jumpscares, but rarely anything that can actually threaten your ability to progress. And your goal in each section of the game is to find a trigger or a switch that will allow you to progress to the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →my review is going to be based on why i wouldn't pay full price for the game i got it on sale for 5$ and well i don't think i would pay more than that for it. first and foremost you MUST sign into ubisoft to play the game for the first time so if you think you can play it later without internet well you can't the graphics for the VR are i would say decent not the best but have played worse and enjoyed them more because the main turn off to the game are the VR controls they are down right…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played it in VR TLDR: looks and sounds cool, had potential but plays not amazingly and had less than mediocre writing Now I kinda get why it has mixed reviews. The good: It has cool looking aesthetics (I love the glitch style it has going on) and very great sound design. That's about it. The actual game design is kinda whacky at times, I found myself looking at walkthroughs like 3 times. Not very fulfilling but eh... It had a handful of jump scares, most of them I could see coming and joke…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can't play with oculus quest 2. Stare at main menu with no controls working. Looks like a lot of others are having the same issue. Should have read reviews before buying. This games looks so sweet; wish they would address this known issue.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Although I have a really large collection of VR games, this one is going straight to my ‘all-time Top-20 VR games’ list! This is truly a hidden gem! Wow!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Spent around two hours trying to load the damn game. Ubisoft's Uplay may have been the culprit but I literally tried everything. Refunded the game, wish I could refund my lost time. Will be avoiding anything Ubisoft is involved with, as usual.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, I don't know why the game rated "mostly positive" . Its one of the best VR games out there! and the closest to PT if you ever played it. The story, gameplay, puzzles, and experience are superb. The only downside is probably the weird controls (at least with the Index controllers) since you use the thumbstick both for turning and crouching (I mean who uses a thumb stick for crouching!?) and it doesn't look that there is a way of changing it. However, for how great this game is, this is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(Played with HTC Vive) -Slowest walking simulator ever, which is a terrible experience in VR. -Very annoying to control. -A pain to start. -Requires Uplay Login. -Jump Scares. -It makes halfhearted attempts at being a puzzle game. The puzzles aren't interesting, though. -Very vague storytelling, which is not necessarily bad, but I couldn't really get immersed because of the other flaws. All in all not very enjoyable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story is spectacular and has so much potential. A very well-thought premise that was thoughtfully played in front of our eyes. It combines Layers of Fear with Observer but unfortunatly its a VERY short game. While most games of this level usually take 4-6 hours to complete, this game can be completed in about maybe 2 hours? That was the only dissapointing thing for me, simply because I wanted more. Good game, but catch on sale...not worth the money for the length of the game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ngl this game should be 5 Euro's at base, this IS NOT A 24 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ EURO GAME. This game doesn't deliver on being a horror game, the "horror" is just cheap jump scares, that after a bit become very predictable, I wouldn't be judging it this hard if it weren't a 24 Euro game. The story is mid. I can't comment on the VR of the game. TL;DR don't give Ubisoft the money, and if you are really curious just watch a play through it took me not even 2 hours to complete.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought it to play on a Valve Index, but the controls are horrible, really horrible. Then wanted to play it without VR, but no idea how i can drop picked up items again and i won't run around with some useless item in my hand ruining the immersion even more after already moving from VR. So i cannot recommend it & i'll refund it and watch some let's play instead (if i do have time and don't forget, it's nothing special at all)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My biggest problem is that the title simply awakens the appetite for more, mainly because the credits appear after about two hours. PS VR is a great tool for learning about horror movies and it is a pity that SpectreVision did not attempt to prepare a slightly larger, more extensive and complex production. It is still an experience worth becoming familiar with. Especially if you put the atmosphere in the foreground and you like to explore multi-layered scenarios.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Forces you to sign up for Ubisoft's Steam wannabe just to play the game you bought...on Steam...Also wonky controls in VR with no apparent option to rebind, plus some unskippable logo videos at the start.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Imagine a Ubisoft game, but in VR
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nope. Even on sale. It's boring and slow, seems cheap and the mechanics (in VR) are terrible.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I cant believe so many negative reviews. This game really was a great experience. Maybe all the people complaining about VIVE controls should go get an oculus rift S. It was amazing. With so many titles promising so much, this was the real deal. You could tell there were a great many people who cared a lot about making the detail in this game just right. The are plenty of shoot, shoot, run run games out there people, well done ubisoft for making a sophisticated story based games which those of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fell asleep because of how slow walking was
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, I really enjoyed this artwork. Super creative and surreal. I like coding, mathematics and art. I find this inspiring. One downside is gameplay time is too short.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would recommend this game , but not at the full price because of the short playtime ( 4 hours ) As a VR game it looks great and runs fine on a gtx 1060. This is primarily a walking simulator with occasional puzzles / finding objects to progress the story. For a game like this it is an exceptionally high quality example. The story is somewhat vague and told out of order (different time periods) but makes more sense once you get to the end. As an experience in VR this is unique and I applaud…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do you want to be inside an episode of black mirror? If you answered yes then play this game, you will enjoy it. It is not very long, but I think its worth 20 bucks because that is cheaper than going to the theater these days.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Abysmal controls with the Index make the game essentially unplayable in VR due to your character consistently wanting to crouch. Attempting to play using a controller is just as scuffed. Before plugging the controller in, the game was more than happy to tell me to "Press A to Continue." After plugging in my controller however, keyboard controls only, which didn't work in VR. It's too bad, this looks like it could have been really decent but as it stands was a waste of money. I could play the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved the game on PSVR (DualShock 4 support only), but wanted to give it a try on PC because of its Touch controller support. Well, rarely have I seen more limited on board options regarding VR controls (there might be a way to adjust this with Steam's control settings). Story and presentation are great and the graphics are more crisp, but for me the clunky controls make it a pain to play in VR. The fact that you need UPlay/Ubisoft Connect and that you always have to switch to VR mode…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Due to it's story it's understandable that for many players, Transference stands in direct comparison to SOMA. Both are psychological SciFi POV experiences. Transference isn't as twisted as it wants to be, I think. The Story is still interesting enough to want to reach the end, the presentation is great and in VR it intensifies the mysterious world. It's a 2 hours, one session playthrough game and that's very comfortable for a VR game. Played on Oculus Quest 1+Link.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought this on sale, figuring I could use another short spooky game. Nope, not worth it. It is riddled with technical problems both big and small. Bad VR design, bad game design, bad horror writing. The performances are ok, if you ignore the cliche lines they're reading. The glitch horror aesthetic is promising, but the execution here is barebones and unexplored. The plot is threadbare and contradictory. There are very few puzzles, and they are either so simple as to not be puzzles, or plagued…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No locomotive friendly options.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is enjoyable and creepy. At under 2 hours though, it is waay too short for £21. Catch it on sale. Or devs reduce the price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is so much potential in VR horror but this game just doesn't really take advantage of any of it. It's just another 2D horror game with VR afterthought.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't buy this game if you don't have a VR. I finished it in less than 3 hours and I feel deeply disappointed. Story, puzzles, music, characters, environment, everything could be 1000 times more profound than this... This game is naive, it feels like playing a demo and it lasts far too soon.. I'm not a guy who loves to write bad reviews. Considering all my xbox360, pc and ps4 library I've left 3 bad ones and this is one of those.. MAYBE, if you have VR, this game has some sense.... if you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well done VR game. As a 1-2 hour game you are better off catching it on sale. No replay value here. Still, it was worth Playing
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a beautifully horrifying mix of fun!! i got just the right amount of scare along with a stunning game. The story was also well written and executed in a superb way
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played on the Rift. I enjoyed it, some early jump scares which made me jump and say F*** The story I only had a vague idea what was going on, and the ending? Well clueless tbh but I still enjoyed my time in the game. There's some video logs you pick up as you play which can be accessed from the main menu, these will reveal more about the story, but wish they'd been part of the game as you play. Picked it up for £8.39, got about 2-3 hours out of it but certainly wouldn't pay full price for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty cool game I thoroughly enjoyed playing it, definitely reminds me of another game called observer (by the guys that done layers of fear) I personally didn’t play it in VR because I don’t have a VR headset so I can’t vouch for how good that works but I can only imagine it’s a lot more intense. The standard playthrough I done with no VR however was great and I think they have done an awesome job it’s definitely creepy and slightly unsettling, however I personally wouldn’t say it’s worth…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This isone of the most amazing VR trips :) But unfortunately it's very short about 2h, for full price I think is too much, but for discount to 9.99 EUR for which I bought it it was pefect.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know what to say, to put it short. An absolute delightful experience. And a total "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" if you're into that genre. I really enjoyed this experience, felt like a movie. Kudos to the team! I didn't expect it to be like this, totally one of my top VR story driven game. If you know a game similar to this, please let me know!! P.S If you have any issues, this is what I originally ran into to boot the game. Right click the game in your steam library, go to properties and un-check use…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Three perspectives on a single story No matter how a situation turns out, every participant will have their own view of the order of things. The game serves as a reminder of how important it is to learn to put oneself in other people's shoes and try looking at the world from different angles. The gameplay and visuals do not exist separately from the plot; they work in tandem, almost physically conveying the breakdown of consciousness and memory among interconnected people. At the center of…
