The game was one of developer Koei's first attempts at moving away from strategy games such as the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series; they did well and it went on to influence cover based mechanics for decades!

Dynasty Warriors 3 was the first PS2 game I ever owned (I still have my old, beaten-up copy!), so getting to play in the Three Kingdoms and spend time with characters I love felt like coming home.

The game has you play as Zhao Yun during China's Three Kingdoms era, mixing sword, bow & spear combat. There's party companions and several horses to ride!

unlabelledView post →We once got a "Liu Bei has been reincarnated as a bratty little girl, raise her Princess Maker style so she can take on the Three Kingdoms!" game in a Steam Discovery Queue. I think the Historical Accuracy Gamer crowd's biggest complaint on that one was that they couldn't find the R+18 patch.

If you're like me, and I know I am, you like learning stuff about the Romance of the Three Kingdoms but find its scale and massive cast of characters kinda daunting. Total War Three Kingdoms makes the setting playable!
unlabelledView post →Overall, I like this game, but if you're asking whether i'd recommend it to my friend, my answer would be NO. I haven't experience everything the game has to offer yet, but as a fan of card-building rougelikes, I feel like there are a lot of flaws here. I'll keep playing and if things improve, I'll keep playing and if things improve, I'll change my review to a positive one. 1.Difficulty is too easy Take the character Xing Cai Zhang ( I am very good at ) as an example. Once I get the skill…

unlabelledView post →The other day someone asked me, if I could have have any kind of Trek video game, what would I choose? After some thought, my answer is a Musou. Romance of the Three Kingdoms, but with historical Klingons. Play as Kahless fighting gods, and invading aliens, all while opera blares in the background.
unlabelledView post →Well... that's kind of odd: Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV SNES ROM has the Mouse Flag enabled...? It doesn't actually use it. Yet Nobunaga's Ambition, the one game of the bunch that supports the mouse actually doesn't?

unlabelledView post →I expected this game to be decent but its actually revolutionary. Here is how it works: 1. Your turn starts and you draw cards as in every card battler. There are three different kinds of cards. Attack, defense and spells. You can play infinite spells but only ONE attack and NO defense cards. 2. Your opponents take turns (each their own) and you get to react to their actions with ANY of your cards. This allows for reeeaaaallly cool combos and strategic planning. Also every one of the four…

unlabelledView post →I'm binging Three Kingdoms content again. One thing I appreciate about DW3 Remaster is that how it doesn't feel as padded as modern games. I guess back in 2001 games weren't designed to waste your time as much. (gotta keep people around so they'll buy the DLC!)
unlabelledView post →It was okay, and for that reason alone not recommended. There are a lot of better deckbuilders out there. This one had a interesting idea where you only play one card then its the enemies turn, but in the end the game isnt that fun beyond a run or two. I had fun, but felt zero need to ever go back, it doesnt have staying power.

unlabelledView post →It's alright. I'm having fun. Overall the game is pretty easy so don't expect a huge challenge! The core design is pretty cool. You can only do 1 attack per turn unless they have the "combo" property. You react on each enemies attack (You can play one card for each attacks) and that makes the game pretty cool.

unlabelledView post →Picked this game up for 5$. Absolutely worth it! I really enjoy the simple change on not having a mana cost per turn and instead having restrictions on the number/type of cards that can be played during your turn and during the enemies turn. Yes, you can play cards during the enemies turn between their attacks. This really adds a twist to the normal strategy layer of the game. There's also a few different characters which each have their own distinct play style which I really enjoy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I did two runs and I'm sure I'm missing something and anyone who reads this can help me but I don't see where the roguelike element comes in. It's a pretty standard deckbuilder otherwise, nothing wrong with it, but what do I gain between runs?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →recommending solely for the low price A great Slay the Spire clone at heart, yet it’s too easy and quickly becomes a power fantasy after each character’s first run. With only two cards truly worth cheesing and one relic that perfectly synergizes with the character in question -most likely to drop if you focus on beating as many elites as possible- the game soon turns into a walk in the park. For example, the first warrior character only needs two Counter Execution cards and one relic that…

unlabelledView post →Slay the spire with a twist! It does just enough different from the tried and true formula, but does not try to be different for the sake of being different. No meta progression, you unlock harder difficulty but you do not gain new artifacts or cards after beating the game, for some that will be a good thing for others it will not. Hidden gem!

unlabelledView post →Surprisingly good, a simple rogue-like that has four varied character types to choose from. The general archetypes are: a melee warrior, a ranged archer, a magic summoner, and a shape-shifter. The cards given carry the potential to try different builds after the initial run for each character. If you are a fan of the Three Kingdoms era; and like simple deck building games, it's worth a try.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a Slay the Spire clone, it's actually quite unique in the way it plays out. The game has 4 characters and all feel quite different in the way they play out which makes the game re-playable. Just don't make the mistake I did and reset the game. I thought I was resetting my current game, but instead it reset my progress. Yes, the warning is there, but I apparently did not read it carefully enough. Overall, it's a great game. Only negative I can think of is the visuals of the cards themselves.…
